Hopefully at least now President Sirisena and MP Mahinda Rajapakse understand where they stand. These two are the stumbling blocks for the growth of Sri Lanka.

“Some of the MPs of the SLFP and JVP abstained from voting.”

Do you know as to why JVP abstained from voting?
Were they upholding their principled position when they abstained from voting?
Was it because it was a Capitalist budget Of the Bonapartist , by the Bonapartist , for the Bonapartist?

“Bullshit! Thondamans and Mutthuligams vote are for sale anytime and we all know where the money comes.”

        Sale of what?
Is the government planning to sell all your women folks to Middle East Medieval Kingdoms? Its too bad. You could stop it if lazy bums like you start working instead of relying on their remittances.

The JVP voted against the capitalist unproductive budget. That is the truth.

            Mohamed Marzook,

The bigger issue is corruption and low productivity. Generally, the productivity is higher in a capitalist economy compared to a socialist economy.

In Scandinavian countries they capitalist socialist economies with generally high productivities.

The so called finance minister of Sri Lanka is financially illiterate. In fact the whole UNP economic team pretty boy Sagala, Mallik, Pent house Ravi K, Bondscam Ranil etc. are financially illiterate but their gay lifestyle thrives with neoliberal identity politics curtsy Trumpland Aid.

So, Mangy takes his instructions from the Washington Consensus IMF, WB and MCC, which have put Lanka in a massive debt trap as they did Greece, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador etc, and are waging economic war against Sri Lanka to crash the rupee and asset strip strategic lands, ports and transport sector infrastructure in the Cold war against China in the Indian Ocean

This is a debt trap budget at all levels.
2,4 billion $ bonds sold by UNP deepening the debt trap and exposing Sri Lanka to international VULTURE FUNDS. This is Bondscam Redux on the advice of IMF.

Also SOEs ike Sri Lankan Airlines is being destroyed and debt trapped in order to sell it to foriegn funds which wants to control Lankan airports and already has its helicopters flying all over Lanka
Texas Pacific Group Vulture Fund had been previously lined up to take over and asset strip but it was taken to court by the Australian Govt.

You better learn about ABC of economics, and there is a very good book you better read: “why Nations Fail” Authored by Acemoglu and James A Robinson. You will understand MR and MS agenda very well when you apply their concepts of economic development and failures of nations when applying to Sri Lanka context, particularly what MR was trying to do during his regim: trying to create very extractive political and economic instutions to enrich themselves. Proper Neo Liberal agenda could really create a level playing field for everyone to progress and this was the very reason why so called west and America, and Japan and Australia were able to progress but other countries in Sub Sharan Africa and some countries in Latin America failed to progress.
Of course MR and MS want to behave above the law and manipulate it so that they can have their own say on everything under the jurisdiction of Sri Lanka law and order denying opportunities to others but for themselves.

We will not have 3rd chance if we do not remove these parasites to wildernesses at the next presidential and palimentary election. You may have to chose between thugs on suites or thugs on pants and shorts, and in my view we should appoint thugs on suites as we have a chance to create a proper society with thugs on suites as we are evolving than thugs on shorts and pants as the history has suggested as the latter category always hell bent on destroying everything that has been hitherto created for our progress

        Dodo

Didn’t Rajapakse & Co. sell the country to the Chinese first? Are we able to payoff the debts of MR during our life time? The colossal waste of public funds on white elephants stand as monuments of this national crime but the debt trap you speak of was initiated long ago.

Maybe, Ravi K in particular, should be kicked out of politics & even investigated, but is there an alternative? Do you think borrowing from the Chinese at commercial rates is better?

This budget is about changing Feudal Myopic Mindset of Sri Lankans. As per Mangala Sri Lankans carry outdated, short-lighted mindset which he is going to change with his budget.

What will happen if outdated, shortsighted person is appointed as the next Finance Minister? This sort of change should start from Education System, not from budget. But what will happen if outdated shortsighted person is appointed as Education Minister? We have just party policy not a national policy.

      Buddhist,

“2019 budget has been passed the second reading by the Parliament a short while ago.”

It is a tug of war between the national interests and personal interests.

For now, the national interests won out.

That’s not the story behind this but the proof that majority MPs who are meant to represent people don’t do that.

To check that hold a referendum to pass the Budget.

People should understand where their elected culprits stand & teach a good lesson in the near future..

It can take another few monther to cotton on that.
They have been just been fooling the gallery on and on.
How dare the bugger Rajaakshe say that he brought that much of development projects. All what he has done then remain as white elephents yet today. Had the bugger et al, check them through proper feasibility studies, if at all they would bring to the country, we would not have been fallen this deep by today.
Rajapakshes will surely collapse in the next days, not being about to find a candidate to the upcoming PE. His malice and viciousness work U turn on him, sooner than later.

Buramphisincho, the Rajapakse variety of development is to provide the high end infrastructure such as harbours, airports, highways and leave the shit to the people to handle in anyway they can. I understand that a large portion of the people in Hambantota area do not have toilet facilities, unless you consider the bushes and the Indian ocean as such a facility.

Dodo.s comment clearly show that he is a Dodo not worth wasting time. What is the Medamulana thug’s suitability and his brother Malwana Hora’s to control SL finances.
Mangy had wizards to advise him Eran and Harsha and with his experience has done well since he listens
Look at that clown Sirisena who has no moral right to say one day after the seven bench judgment that he did not uphold the Constitution.
MR has no right as the PRECIFAC lucidly said that special legislation must be brought to prevent him contesting again. Sira sleeps on that for expediency and as someone recently said only dogs walk back to their vomit and Sira also did.
If not for the Constitutional Council JUSTICE PREETHI PADMAN SURASENA AN EMINENT JUDGE WOULD NEVER HAVE GOT APPOINTED TO THE SC AS HE CHAIRED THE PRECIFAC. LOOK at the CORRUPT woman stooge DEEPANI WIJESUNDARA getting appointed by Sira against the Constitution.
Both Sira and MR must get defeated and RW must gracefully step down for the sake of thee country and nominate KARU as he has an impeccable record for honesty, RATA DINAWAMU HORU NOWEI

Whether it is Madamulana thugs or Batalanda thugs, both have very professional corrupt experience they both sell the country and they bend to the INTERNATIONAL community who are busy plundering the country. International community gave Aids for every country looking to sell their stuff. Now, they force Srilanka to give AIDS to them.

According to Dr Ranil and his Buddy Maggie, Lankawe will be fully Digitalized and Industrialized Nation at least on par if nor under ( better in Golf jargon) with Singapore..
    How cool..

But the ex Finance Minister and Dr Ranil’s best buddy at the time, wants our inhabitants to turn off at least Two Lights in the house, because his Energy Ministry has no Water to run the Lakhapana Turbines.
Thank God most of our Dalits have no Lights to turn off and help Ravi and Maggie…
But they must be wondering How many A/Cs are in Mr Ravi’s Penthouse?…

Dr Ranil’s Red Elephant Party dude, one Herath says Maggie’s is a Loans Budget , Not a Development Budget.
    Looks like a good Call.

Because same ex Best FM Mr Ravi says the current CB Governor has rigged the most recent Sovereign Bond Interest Rate .
And he is paying 8.25% on the 3.5 Billion Loan.
When the going rate is under 5% .
And even highly Debt Countries only pay a maximum 4.75%..
And Mr Ravi apparently expressed his displeasure about it at the Cabinet Meet.

Wonder which Broking House organized the Issue this time?..

“Thank God most of our Dalits have no Lights to turn off and help Ravi and Maggie…”

Lakvijaya Power Station was built and commissioned in 2011 under Champika’s watch during Mahindawamsa’s rule, three plants at a cost of $1.3 billion. The capacity is supposed to be 900 MW. Now you are telling us there is not enough electricity being produced to supply the Dalits.

      Why?
Did Basil sell two plants for scrap metal value?

        Dear Native,
If Rajapaksa was there , he would have produced enough Wattage with Chinese Coal & Gas to give every Dalit House in Mahavamsa land, at least half a dozen Globes ‘
Jungee Ranil, Khema’s Boy,Galleon Ravi& Co stopped all that.. Didn’t they?.
Because Chinese wouldn’t give Commissions to Srikotha Lads.

But they kept giving more and more Watts to their Elite mates, to keep their Bodies fully Airconditioned 24/7 in those Luxury Condominiums.

BTW, Read Moody’s take on Maggie’s Budget if you get time, mate..
That is if you can fathom how Dr Ranil can spend 3 Trillion Ruppiah when our GDP has gone bellow up .
And the Debt has increased to 86% . .
And the Growth is still going to the shit house ,while the Debt is piling up..

The power plant never worked since it was commissioned.
The Chinese demanded additional payment to put it right when it never worked in the first place. I very often reminded you this in the past. As the crook in chief what was Mahinda doing when this was reported in the media?

          Stop being a stupid.
Get a grip of the issues.
          Bull wont work.

What would happen if the Budget was defeated? Maybe it’s my ignorance of parliamentary procedures but isn’t it all just customary because I have never heard of a budget being defeated.

I would think that in a parliamentary vote, MPs are expected to be either for or against, why abstain? Can’t these yobs make up their mind or don’t they have the guts to stand up for what they think is right? At the end of the day, budget or no budget, the cost of living goes up, life gets harder for the average man on the street & life is a ball for the politicians & their cronies. Just another day in paradise (apologies to Phil Collins)

I am trying to make out the purpose of publication of this article. Is it a miracle to pass a budget when there is supposed to be a majority in Parliament in favor of the Government? Yes! When there is no clear cut majority there can be upheavals. All want “Kappams and Santhosams” to supplement their income. The extent of which is applicable to politicians in Sri Lanka is humongous when compare with other mortals such as, say a peon in a Government office. But “Extra Income” is the order of the day and that is the very reason why a regime of rule of law cannot be established. The answer? Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew solved it to a great extent.
