After Polls Battle: TNA Chief Minister Elect Wigneswaran Meets Northern Governor

Following a bitterly contested election in which the TNA made the removal of the military Governor of the North a major battle cry, Northern Chief Minister designate Justice C.V. Wigneswaran met with Governor Maj. Gen. (Rtd) G.A. Chandrasiri in Jaffna.

G.A. Chandrasiri

The TNA delegation discussed the appointment of the Chief Minister elect by the Governor and a venue for the recently elected council to meet.

TNA sources said an assembly hall in Kaittady was being prepared for the Northern Provincial Council to meet.

The Northern Governor is likely to issue the letter appointing Justice Wigneswaran as Chief Minister tomorrow, the sources said.

The TNA has repeatedly called for the replacement of the military governor Chandrasiri with a civilian. During the electoral contest, the TNA also accused the Governor of openly backing the ruling UPFA.

But the meeting in Jaffna between the TNA and the Governor had been civil, the sources said.

If Chandrasiri broke election law by campaigning for UPFA there should be a court case brought against him and he should be tried and convicted. TNA should do this to since three is need to make the military accountable to civilian authorities – or Lanka is a military dictatorship!

This is the reality of PC administration in sl.

For the world, they were so called elections. But the man appointed by President (the auhotritarian leader of the nation, as clearly pointed out by UN HR commisioner lately), as the governer will be the powerful man.

This is so called socialist democratic state- Srilanka.

We could better laugh from the back end… jayawewa for the lost nation/country).

            Look at the numbers.

4 Muslims MPs in NPC council!!

Did Muslims EVER get elected in the north before? No.

Even one Muslim MP elected from the north to parliament. A great man.

            When Tamilians LOSE Muslims GAIN.

By 2021 Tamilians would have LOST their largest minority status to Muslims. Inshallah!

Didn’t the TNA back Gen Sarath Fonseka to be president. Gen Chandrasiri, retired is a civilian. USA has had ex military presidents e.g. eisenhower. To call Chandrasiri a military govoner is both hypocrytical and incorrect. Its like saying Wigneswaran is a member of the judiciary. Point of difference, he used to be.

podi Baba, you are too podi and naive to realise these complicated matters.
Eisenhower was the commander of the allied forces that fought Germany and Japan and he did not bomb his own people American citizens! he contested as a Republican Nominee and won a national elections! Never appointed.
This Guy Chandrasiri was a Soldier paid by tax payers who killed fellow Sri Lankans! He was not elected by the people of the North but was imposed from the centre on the very people whom he killed and maimed.
I trust and Hope that will get in to your small brain!

        Podi Babo,

Nobody complains about an ex-forces man if he conducts his affairs by the law and ethically. Gov. Chandrasiri has made far
too many mistakes during his tenure bordering in HR rights and in violation of the Constitution it is best he is relieved. Some of his strange statements like “I too am a Govt servant and have political rights” shows the callousness of an army man and that he is unfit for the high job. Of course, some of these high ex-unikformed officials are pampered and given too many facilities and comforts they will resist being shifted – using all the influence they have accumulated with influential men in the Cabinet, Parliament and elsewhere.

The wishes of those enjoying popular support must be respected
without the State resorting to false excuses.

        Podi babo,
        “Katey kiri..pihi daaganna”..milk around your mouth..wipe it!

Retired Maj. General Chandrasiri like other military Governors is given a group of staff officers and men of his choice to serve him during his tenure as governor. General Hathurusinghe is junior to him so in effect, all if Hathurusinghe’s command is under Chandrasiri. To top it all up, Chandrasiri is a nasty, arrogant old man that is at best a horrible choice for Governor of the ailing North!

I bet you did not know the above so your armchair criticism is forgiven. But watch out for your own arrogance…it is evident!

“Didn’t the TNA back Gen Sarath Fonseka to be president.”

The TNA backing Sarath Fonseka at the presidential election had a completely different reason.

As long as the Tamils were concerned, they knew very well that neither Mahinda Rajapakshe nor Sarath Fonseka was going to do anything good in the future to solve the Tamil problem. The Tamils have a long way to go in their freedom struggle and they will never stop.

Both Mahinda Rajapakshe and Sarath Fonseka are war criminals and enemies of Tamils. As they say, an enemy’s enemy is a friend, to take revenge for what they did to the Tamils, the Tamils supported one enemy (Sarath Fonseka) against the other (Mahinda Rajapakshe).

Tamils took revenge, one Sinhala-Buddhist war hero (war criminal) who said Sri Lanka belongs ONLY to the Sinhalayas is made into a Zero. He and others (war criminals) will have to face a trial for the war crimes against the Tamils and it won’t be long.

The end result (due to Tamils supporting Sarath Fonseka),

The Majority Sinhala-Buddhist Modayas gave mandate to the Dictator who is well known for corruption, thuggery, fraud, crime, nepotism, messing up Sri Lanka’s foreign policy and dragging Sri Lanka to the international dog house, etc, etc as their leader for the next 6 years. For the Tamils it will not make any big difference but for the (majority) Sinhalayas it is a CURSE, they are definitely suffering and will suffer more.

Ultimately all Tamils are under the leadership of Sinhala military generals. :)

In 2010 it was SF now GAC.

Earlier they were under General Fat Velu.

        Previously under IPKF General Hariharan.

Did I forget General Weeratunga in 1977 to 1983?

Tamils are always better under military generals of other ethnicities.

          Fuku….

You seem a bit shy to admit that all the Sinhalese weeryas were first led by a Tamil, called Major General Anton Muthukkumar – The first ever Sri Lankan to be appointed as Commander of The Sri Lanka (Ceylon Army)1955- 1959.

General Tissa Weeratunga held this position from 1981 – 1985 (feb).

”Tamils are always better under military generals of other ethnicities”.

Check it out with the ghosts of Solon William Richard Dias, Srimavo and Felix Dias Bandaranayakes about their taste and comfort in the hands of Anton Muthukkumaru !!?

Tamils have been cheated by genocidal India again. Teach them a lesson to remember. Take up weapons now or forever suffer indignity.

The beauty of an educated person’s behavior and an uneducated person’s behavior could be observed in this. When the Govenor was accused for supporting the government coalition openly in the election platform he said he was appointed by the President and could do what he liked, although legally he had to be a neutral person. But once again Justice Wigneswaran has proven that he is a learned Judge and a disciplined person and has behaved respectfully. Military thugs have to give up civilian administrative positions for good.

This is a good start for the NPC to begin a mutual relationship. Just like in any good relationship, they should sit together and discuss the way forward. There will be good and educated conclusions made if both the Governor and TNC members are rational and focus on the grass root problems which all of them are well aware of. If there is going to be a solution within a united Sri Lanka, everybody in the District and Provincial level should be satisfied in the first place for the Country to make progress. It will be a lot easier for the President to keep all Provinces in his preview when the provinces are happy with him. To this end the enmity with the TNA must be turned around and the ground work started to make them feel proud of Sri Lanka. It has to be done soon as it will take time for the war wounds to heal.

It is not about war wounds. It is about following rules and the laws.Unfortunately nothing moves without breaking laws and rules in SL.
This action by CJW and Sumanthiran in a dignified manner was the right thing to do.They did not go with the gun, bullets nor a new manifesto.
Naturally Chandrasiri had to be civil.
    Over to you president.
    The next step?

It is understood President Rajapakse has expressed interest to be at the swearing in, if invited. Justice Vigneswaren and the TNA should
use this opportunity and begin their peace and understanding process
straight away. I am sure the country – both South North and elsewhere -will welcome this auspicious start.

Wasn’t it the Vellala CM who made the request to take his oath in front of the President?.

Magnanimous man he is . the Prez would have acqueisced if Vellala Wiggy’ didn’t pay homage to the LTTE leader and paraded the LTTE agenda packaged as the Sambandan manifesto drafted in Toronto.

And demanding that the non Vellala ex General be sent home.

      Anyway Nice try Mr Sengutuan.

Governor Maj. Gen. (Rtd) G.A. Chandrasiri is a Sinhalaya (obviously Edited out]). Even president is a Sinhalaya, another [Edited out]. The Sinhala Govi Gama is Tamil Koviya (low caste).

We Tamils want only Vellalas to be our leaders. Prabakaran (non-Vellala) was not our choice, he was a self appointed leader. We Tamils only elect Vellalas as our leaders. That is part of our culture.

During Buddha’s time in India, Brahmins are considered as leaders. During our time in Eelam, Vellalas are considered as leaders.

What is your problem? You, a low caste Sinhalaya has no rights to talk about Vellalas.

Highest Tamil caste is lower than the lowest Sinhala caste as can be seen from the appointment letter incident.

          Fathima Fukushima

It is the other way around.

The Highest Sinhala caste is lower than the lowest Tamil caste as can be seen from the people in Jaffna. It is believed that the Sinhala Govi Gama (Highest Sinhala caste) in Jaffna who got converted to Tamils have also become low caste and work as labor for the Vellalas(Highest Tamil caste).

People like Fathima Fukushima are not allowed even to step inside the gate of a Vellala house. If you ask for some water, you will be served in a coconut shell.

Don’t worry too much about Vellala CM. The Tamil leader Velupillai Pirabaharan (non Vellala) is the leader for both Vellala CM Wigneswaran and TGTE Rudrakumaran. We Tamil not bothered about you who had born to a blood thirsty Lion.

        Sumane,

Don’t forget President MR, in a way, paid tribute to the late VP when he entered into a deal with him. Usually, you get into deals only with those whom you like or have something in commong with, don’t you? So there is a surfeit of double-faced traitors still around here eh!- plentiful.

As to your wish to get down Rudra here for the Anniversary, thanks for the thought. But let us wait until matters devolve here around to civilised levels. As you’ll admit, we are still in the savage mood and territory. Remember when Sinhala people got into the streets at Weliveriya complaining for weeks their drinking water is poisoned and asking the Rajapakses to provide them potable drinking water, the regime sent a violent army “to teach the buggers a lesson” While the State, as usual, gives bogus figures the real number dead there is said to be 7 and badly injured/maimed over 30.

Viggy will not take a chance with a set of beasgt of that type to attempt something sublime – even in his sincere wish for peace and reconciliation. You don’t go about shaking hands with wounded Grizzly Bears, do you?

The GoSL had failed to win the goodwill of the Tamils by not replacing the ex-military officer holding position of Governor NP, at least AFTER the elections by a civilian. Actually they should have done that before the elections!

Tamilians have been reduced to shameless petty servants of Chingalam army generals!

    This is the bitter truth.

Did it happen when Thalaivar was there? No.

When Thalaivar was around Chingalam ministers addressed Anton Anna “your excellency” and went to Kilinochchi to meet him.

    Now the opposite.

Tamil CM Vigneswaran GOES to Chingalam military general governor (who he accused of genocide) to get his job. :)

    Vigneswaran be careful

Defense secretary Gotabaya Rajapakse is making atrocious arrangements to provide three State intelligence service (SIS) officers ostensibly as security detail to the newly appointed chief Minister to the north C V Vigneswaran , former supreme court judge, according to reports.

Legally a chief Minister of a province is entitled to the same security detail as that of a Cabinet Minister . Accordingly, Vigneswaran is entitled to a security convoy comprising a police inspector , a sergeant and ten police constables and that police team must be supplied by the MSD (Ministerial security division) .Usually it is the MSD police officers and not the SIS officers who are detailed for such duty relating to a VIP. The MSD had included the aforementioned SIS ‘spies’ in the camouflaged security detail .

Among them are 2 Police constables and a sergeant of the SIS. These three officers are very fluent in Sinhala , Tamil and English. One of them is a resident of Chilaw and his mother is a Tamil. The other two are from Paiyagala and Matara . All three of them had been in the SIS and not the MSD since their recruitment , and have attached to the Tamil desk – for a long time engaged in duties that involved garnering information regarding Tamil Organizations.

It is significant to note that they have no training in Ministerial security service. Hence these three officers have been sent for emergency training by the defence division. Their duty revolve round spying on Vigneswaran’s activities and reporting them , and not truly providing security to Vigneswaran. They have been provided with all the materials needed to perform this dastardly task..

These three security members have been provided by senior DIG S. M. Wickremesinghe coordinated by Nanda Malawaarachi under Gota’s instructions. Wickremesinghe is a long serving head of the Presidential security division (PSD). From today these three ‘spies’ have been sent for MSD training. The information collected by these ‘spies’ are to be immediately reported to a Colonel of the intelligence division of the forces under the criminal defense secretary Gotabaya.

It is to be noted that throughout the election period , the northern governor Major general Mahinda Hathurusinghe had detailed two army intelligence division officers , namely Upali Bandara and Sisira to collect information regarding Vigneswaran . Bandara is an ordinary soldier while Sisira is a Lance Corporal. It had been impossible to identify which regiment these two ‘spies’ belonged. These two ‘spies’ however belong to the group used by Hathurusinghe for his personal and confidential tasks . During the election period these two ‘spies’ carried out their despicable activities while being at the Omantha old special force camp.
