Amnesty International Report: Sri Lanka’s Assault On Dissent

“In their attempt to consolidate power, Sri Lanka’s authorities have criminalized freedom of expression, and equated dissent with treason. Those who dare to criticize the authorities are pursued and silenced. As described in this report, Sri Lanka is failing to comply with its international obligations to respect and protect the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association, as well as other rights. Sri Lanka must end its assault on critics, publicly acknowledge human rights abuses by its forces and supporters, and ensure accountability.” says the Amnesty International.

    A well researched credible report.
But will the government take note and reform law enforcement, implement human rights, enable the judiciary to dispense justice without fear, tell the peacetime army to return citizens’ lands and let them lead lives without constraints.

But AI and HRW has taken 100’s of 1000s of US $s from LTTE terrorists. Can those socalled HR watchers be considered as independent reporters.

“Is this not the Greatest Miracle of Asia?!!”

I thought the great miracle was Duminda Silva emerging alive and well following his shoot-out? Or that Prabhakaran’s ex-propaganda men KP and Daya Master are now working for another fat dictator with a moustache?

Here is a blast from the past:
According to Hansard page 941 of 04 December, 1989, he (Mahinda Rajapaksa) thanked the government for permitting the ICRC to enter the country, and asked that the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances and Amnesty International be also allowed to visit Sri Lanka.

Therefore please know that AI has the stamp of approval from MR and they have had dealings with each other longer than many of us have been alive.

“It is Hon. MP Rajapaksa who requested that the Sri Lankan government be imposed conditions over human rights, and page 365 of Hansard, dated 25 October 1990 quotes him thus: “We asked the donors countries as to why conditions cannot be imposed when giving aid. That was the request we made. It is what has been fulfilled today.

My saviour of Sri Lanka, Rajapakse is your fat dictator and thief. That is your right and so is mine. Everyone in Sri Lanka including KP has the right to think the way he/she wants and join or vote any party he/she likes. Rajapakse has afforded that democracy to every Sri Lankan. Tell us which country has achieved such an accomplishment in such a short time after such a long war?

Amnesty International and its buddy ‘Human Rights Watch’ release adverse reports on many countries. Are these reports ‘independent’? How could they, Washington fund them all. Naturally, AI and HRW will highlight even small wrongs of countries that are not in line or are against its paymasters. So, we have to be least surprised of the contents of these reports.

See, AI is blind on NATO killing of one million children in Iraq; 50,000 blacks, women and children in Libya; hundreds of prisoners languishing in Guantanamo Bay prison for over ten years without charges; drone raids that kill hoards of civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan almost daily. But they pick on Iran who has done nothing like said acts.

On April, 14th AI released a report “Laws of Attrition – Crackdown on Russia’s Civil Society after Putin’s Return to the Presidency” attacking Putin. Very rightly Putin has regulated NGOs that engage with ‘political activities’. He made such NGOs register as foreign agents and declare source of foreign funding. Frank Reitzenstein of Pravda ask, ‘if North Korea and Iran sponsored an NGO in the vicinity of the Deutscher Bundestag for the purpose of “political activities” then this would not be a problem? Would they be allowed “freedom”?

We should take advice from Russians.

Could you please tell us the names of those so-called civilised countries also. Is it US who has a bloody history in executing and slavering uncountable number of Blacks and Indians and had killed millions of civilians including women and children in Japan, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Pakistan … with unmanned, Chemical and non-conventional weaponry or is it Brittan who ordered and killed every above 10 year old males in Sri Lanka in 1848 for looting the country and recently misguided the UN to invade Iraq with false information of chemical weapons or is it France who destroyed civilised Libya or is it Australia who denied minority and native rights or is it India ….

Sri Lanka has being a civilized nation for over 3000 years and still maintains all the qualities of humanity that most of those so-called civilised countries who were barbarians some 500 years ago, have failed to assure for their own people even with continued looting all of the valuable resources from poor/small countries all around the world in every possible miens.

People like you who are not only Brainless and spineless but Shameless also used all the resources and advantages of the mother Sri Lanka to become educated professionals and have now become slaves in those countries are the ones who betray the good name of the motherland with utter lies.
