Arjuna Mahendran Wants All Bond Issuance Data Deleted

In yet another underhand act, Controversial Governor of the Central Bank, Arjuna Mahendran has given out an order to delete all data in relation to the last two bond issuance from the Central Bank computers.

Highly placed sources said that the staff is in a quandary whether or not to carry out Mahendran’s order, as deleting such data from the system was deemed illegal, specially as no reasons have been given as to why the details in relation to the 2015 and 2016 bond issuance must be deleted.

The sources believe that Mahendran has issued the order to hide details pertaining to the bond issuance as the Central Bank including its Monetary Board has come under increasing pressure from good governance activist and former Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Chandra Jayaratne who has been requesting for all information pertaining to the last two bond issuance, which are rigged in controversy.

“The data in relation to the bond issuance is also required by the Prime Minister for a Parliamentary review, and Mahendran maybe trying to sabotage this by deleting the data and blame it later on a malfunction,” the sources said.

Standard banking regulations expect all transaction data to be available for a period of 20 years.

“Even though it is based on an order given by the Governor, if the staff is found guilty of deleting such important data, action can be taken against them, which can jeopardize their jobs at the bank as well,” the sources added.

This sounds too risky to be true. Evidently, there is an orchestrated
campaign against Arjuna Mahendran. AM, as Governor/CBSL should either confirm or deny this article although CT is, technically, not part of the formal Lanka media.

A real culprit does not give up easily.

If the allegations are right there’s no escape route for him

So he’ll resort to any damnable possible way.

The best trick is deleting data and denying.

Unless he has to face prosecution or confess or commit suicide.

      What a pity.

Mahendran is an INSULT to all honest and professional Tamils. He and his cronies should stop playing ethnic politics and pretending that he is being victimized by Sinhala Racists..

Mahendran has been playing the ethnic card in revers, claiming that he is being discriminated against when his corruption is exposed and honest people call for him to be investigated and tried in open court for insider dealing with his corrupt Sinhala son in law Mr. Perpetual Treasuries, Aloysius Mudhalali!

Mahendran’s son in law is a Catholic Tamil Aloysius – nothing to do with Premadasa’s gangster buddy from Maradana Dean’s Road. The family is a wealthy and respected trading house from the Pettah – devout Catholics from Kotahena.

Why is he reluctant to publish his official Credit Card statements and account for every penny that’s been paid by the Central bank?

He should only fear if those payments included nightclub bills, payments to massage parlours, Casinos, ….. upmarket call girls, ………….

It would be alright if he had bought Scotch at duty-free shops especially for KASmaalam K A Sumanasekera. That is the only way Arjuna could shut Kasmaalam’s mouth.

Is it technically possible to delete data completely without destroying hardware, software and damaging other vital information?

I was told forensic investigators could rebuild/recover data using specialist software and equipment.

Therefore please make sure you don’t download porn on your work or home computers.

CT has taken a risk in giving publicity to a write up with no proof. Agree with Kettikaran – too risky to be true. AM is no fool to give an order like that.

Very difficult to fathom why a person of Ranil’s intelligence appointed Mahendran to this position. Given the controversies sorrounding the conduct of the Governor under the previous regime, the Prime Minister should have been careful when making this crucial appointment. The Prime Minister staked his personal credibility by undertaking the resposibility for this appointment amidst objections from the President. Unfortunately, with hindsight it seems that friendships and old boy networks have prevailed over good judgement.

To rectify the damage caused to all those in the higher echelons of the government, an immediate inquiry should be held on the conduct of the Central Bank Governor. More particularly, the legitimate questions that arise in the mind of citizens who pay increased VAT should be laid to rest.

Hopefully, there is no fraud or conflict of interest on the two bond issuances. It is unfair to make accusations of scams without proof. Nevertheless, any delay in the conduct of an inquiry will be damaging to the Prime Minister whose credibility is the raison d’etre of the UNP and the Yahapalana government.

Is there no limit to what this guy can do, with the PM seemingly condoning his actions?

He must be taken to task and charged for his transgressions – and then replaced ASAP.

If this is true, Mahendran must be sacked. Distorting data is illegal and obviously this guy has a lot to hide if he has requested that this be done. Remember the reputable accounting firm Arthur Andersen did something similar years ago and the US authorities issued an order closing the firm when this was revealed. This whole fiasco is a very simple thing to verify, The central bank has regulations and procedures for the bond issue. Without appointing incompetent parliamentary committees packed with a bunch of idiots to make a report , all the government has to do is to get a reputable international auditing firm to undertake a compliance audit of the bond transactions in question to determine whether there has been a breach in procedures and the significance of these breaches. A professional opinion is all that is needed. RW needs to get rid of the cobwebs in his brain and make the right decision.

The US and Swiss Govts are investigating banks involved in a massive Bond Scam where billions of $$$ were laundered in Malaysia into the PM’s off shore accounts via Singapore. The 1MDB fund in Malaysia.

Please check out the Guardian Weekly report on Asian Bond scams. Arjuna Mahendran who was a bond dealer in Singapore is well up on bond scams.

NOT qualified to be a Central Bank Governor.

    Arjuna Mahendran should be ARRESTED immediately and tried for criminal activity at the Central Bank if he has ordered erasure of Bond issue information;

Deleting information on Bond transactions is a criminal offense and Mahendran should be fired on the spot for violating transparency and accountability protocols at the Central bank.

Mahendran wants to cover up the money laundering trail of fraud with Perpetual Treasuries which operates and sponsors Business seminars for Sri Lanka in Singapore, where the fraudulent Bond issue of the Central Bank funds were deposited by HSBC and other banks.

First of all its important to find out if this is true. If it is, then Arjuna has to be taken before a Parliamentary Committee for an inquiry. If he is found guilty then he has to be locked up. If this information is not true, then those who originated the false information (may be Jarapakse and his gang) should be taken into custody.

I dont know the truth. But it is very clear some elements trying to create havoc with their desperate campaign against the good Governance. If Mr. Mahendran has done something wrong, he must face the criminal prosecution without any hesitation. There is no argument about that. It is better to keep Mr. Mahendran away from CB business for a while. It is better for PM and the Govt.
