Asgiri Prelate Calls For Stoning Of Muslims – But Remains Immune To ICCPR Act Violations

One of Sri Lanka’s highest Buddhist authority figures – Asigiri Chapter Prelate Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana has called for the stoning of Muslims and urged Sinhala Buddhists to refrain from frequenting Muslim-owned shops and consuming food offered by Muslims. For such blatant vitriol against Muslims, fanning the growing unfounded paranoias about the Muslims – he remains untouched; no charges have yet been brought against the Asigiri Chief prelate for violating the ICCPR Act.

In an anti-Muslim speech delivered on Sunday in the presence of UNP MP Mayantha Dissanayake, Gnanarathana thera makes a shameful display of hate towards Muslims – spewing words that completely violate the very non-violent principles Buddhism stands for.

“Mayantha here was talking earlier about how Muslims shouldn’t be sidelined… But even I will say now, don’t go to these Muslim owned shops, dont’ consume the food they offer,” the Asgiri Chief prelate said while adding, “The Muslims don’t love us [Sinhalese]…”

He goes on to state that it is a well known fact that Muslims have poisoned ‘our people’ [Sinhalese] and that they have been plotting to destroy ‘our people’. The thera says therefore it is of paramount importance that Buddhists protect themselves.

Further egging on the growing Islamophobia, this monk representing one of the highest orders of the Buddha Shasana in Sri Lanka, also implies he believes the younger generation will be infertile due to frequenting Muslim owned eateries.

He also speaks of the sterilization rumours – adds fuel to the fire. He speaks of a Doctor from Matale who destroyed hundreds and thousands of ‘our children’. The thera is most likely referring to Dr. Shafi from Kurunegala who now appears to have been falsely accused of sterilizing Sinhala women.

The thera says such ‘traitors’ must not be left in peace.

“I overheard some Upaasaka Ammas here speaking of how these doctors must be stoned to death. . . I will not say it should happen, but that is what should happen…If one of our people committed such crimes against them [Muslims], we would have been sliced to death…” he goes on spewing further hate on Muslims.

The Chief prelate also revealed his true agenda – the reason behind why he so vehemently spewed vitriol against Muslims – his campaign for the Rajapaksas at the upcoming Presidential polls.

With no announcement made so far about the candidate or the specific election dates, Sri Gnanarathana thera seems to have already declared the winner.

“I heard this very auspicious news, that Chamal Rajapaksa will be the future President of this country… I had not heard this before but was overjoyed to hear it…I invite Mayantha too, crossover and help rebuild and save this country,” he added. (By Purnima Ranawaka)

    Dear Muslim friends

You must now play your cards carefully if you want to put a stop to this anti-Muslim tirade. Charge this saffron wearing senile thug in courts for hate speech. Clear evidence is available and is on record what he said. He has to be found guilty and go to jail. No judge can give any other verdict.

Dear Muslim friends, do not cow down. More you bend more you get hit. You got the best chance. Then these buggers will come to terms.

If there is any reluctance to convict him and bring natural disrepute to the Sangha, then no one can be charged for hate speech. Come out with the truth “hate speech law is only to convict minorities and give full freedom to the majority to use against minorities to humiliate them. Then that law becomes defunct.

Further, if this thug is not convicted, you have full protection to bombard with your own hate speech against anyone of your choice and the courts can’t do anything to you, provided you play your cards right. If you are charged for hate speech you can always quote this saffron thugs name and demand through your lawyer, without the saffron thug being convicted the judge has no right to convict you as the law is equal for all and he will not accept any punishment as it is against his fundamental right.
You can then say Nadarajah is a wife and child deserter and more and nothing can happen to you.

      Blabla,
I agree 100% that this so-called prelate monk should be prosecuted for the hate speech but, I don’t think that it is good idea for Muslims to do it at this moment. The better way is for an independent S/B lawyer to come forward with a civil law suite. I would it myself if I’m a lawyer.
This monk and probably many of the active S/B extremists as well as the Cardinal may not be old enough to remember that, before they start to pick on Tamils after 1970, their main enemy was Catholics. That is b’cos they were the dominant group in almost all sectors of life. The first ever conspiracy to overthrow an elected Gvt in SL during the tenure of Mrs B in 1962 was Catholic based. That was the Catholic response to rising S/B power after 1956. Like Easter Sunday bombing by a few Muslim extremists forced the public to have a hard look at the political power of Muslims, 1962 coup also caused the removal of Catholics from key defense positions.
One main reason for turning attention to Tamil from Catholics also their dominance in bureaucracy. This occurred as a result of British management system. After winning the civil war of Tamil origin, I think that it almost natural that Muslim become the next target b’cos they have already emerged as a conspicuous political & business power. this became a reason for envy not in the eyes of S/B extremists, but also among Catholics & Hindus. A few years ago, the real enemy was Tamils. Boycotting Tamil business was the main subject of preaching by extremist monks. Even the Temple of Tooth Relic was not immune from such hateful preaching (I heard one myself). Who is the next target?

Now is the time to strike when the iron is hot. Miss this chance you miss for ever. The ‘ant- hate speech’ law is dicey. It is for the minorities to shut their mouth and allow the majority community to do whatever they like against minorities. That is the fact of making hate speech law. Do you think if a Muslim Mullah or Hindu priest said the same he would be able to walk free? NEVER he would be arrested and behind bars now. Because this pig in saffron is from majority he is walking free.

Charge this bugger and see the fun. I bet you nothing will be done, he will be still preaching to the foolish majority. He will be talking filth and majority will think they being blessed.

Then the law will become defunct and no judge can sentence anyone to jail. Any one from minority community can argue in court of law without having this pig being sentence to jail, any judge has no right to sentence anyone else to jail! That is a fundamental right as law is equal to all. Then anyone is free to commit hate speech and there will be anarchy. Then they will have a taste of their on medicine.

The last portion of my comment didn’t appear may be b’cos the comment exceeded the limit. What I wanted to say was that there is discernible pattern to religious/ethnic conflicts in SL: The minority must be occupying a powerful position. At first, it was Catholics; they dominated almost all the top positions in the country. Next was Tamils who committed two sins: They were dominant within the bureaucracy & they started to demand 50/50 rights! Once Tamils were defeated, S/B extremists found Muslims b’cos they have achieved a considerable amount of strength both politically & business wise. From this it easy to guess who will be the next victim: Whoever will rise to the level conspicuous enough to draw the envy of S/B extremists!

10 percent are violent and are hardcore
ones. They follow the Hadith only and not the modern traditional Islam.
      ..
Though the first 13 years of Prophet Muhammad was peaceful, he was rejected by the polithiest in Macca and ran away to Medina.
      ..
In Medina there were 3 Jewish tribes and 2 Arabic Tribes.
      ..
Arab world was polithiest and Kaaba was the main worship place where statues of many god’s were displayed.
      ..
Now in Medina he was accepted by all 5 tribes, because he was an Arab and he promotes monotheism.
      ..
Hence, he unified Medina and created Islam. Now from only 200 followers he became the commander.
      ..
Now from this point the peaceful man became violent. He promoted sex slaves, killed every one who rejected Islam, married a six year old, beat his wife and the list goes on.
      ..
Even if the Quaran supports peace, if someone is blindly following Hadith, which is Sharia, this is a definite threat.
      ..
Good Muslims must come forward and be honest about the threat the 10 percent is and why.
      ..
Because the unknown is creating gaps between communities and could lead to violence.

What is the relevance of your story to the rubbish outbursts of the monk?
Various absolutely false utterances are going round against Muslims in this country now. You also have joined the same bandwagon. Islam cannot be stopped by such falsehood. It is a way of life. Don’t worry, it will march forward with more strength.

My intention was to give some facts and not to disgrace Islam. I did research for months and the Muslim scholars will agree with me.
          ..
These are in the Holy books and historical documents. I don’t wish any harm to the Muslims. If the truth doesn’t come out, you might widen the gap.
          ..
If you read my previous blogs, you will find my intentions are pure.

Thank you, you saffron pig. I would have paid you millions to say this and bring with you the entire Sangha. You did it for free! Now Sangha is in the cesspit. Thank you. You made my day. Actually, were you paid to say it.

      Hi Blabla,
First of all, I don’t agree with what this Buddhist monk is saying. But on behalf of the true followers of the Buddha and for the safety of the life’s journey of yours, I thought of sharing this. I assume you are more than willing to be in Jannah. Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way.
      If someone says,
“You Muslim pig. I would have paid you millions to bomb people and bring with you the entire Muslim community down for that. You did it for free! Now the Muslim community is in the cesspit. Thank you. You made my day. Actually, were you paid to say it?”
Would you agree with that statement or would you say don’t put hatred for the entire community for some subset of peoples acts? In fact, you are blaming the whole of Sangha and sharing hatred against hatred. They are burning inside and you are burning inside. The outcome won’t be the peace you desire. There will be ripple effects of this.
Your statement actually will trigger hatred against Sangha. This happened earlier some thousand years ago, which led to the extinction of Buddhism in India, Afganistan, Bangladesh, etc. Muslim commanders killed Sangha in numbers. (You can check out the history of Islam in Southeast Asia, read about genocides in Nalanda, etc) Killing them just like chopping vegetables cause they didn’t fight back and because buddha’s preaching is not to kill or spread hatred even if someone is ripping you apart slowly using a saw “Kakachupama sutta”. Clearly, a group of Buddhist Monks are not following this ideology. But in Islam, you have the sword verse giving permission to kill, ambush anyone who is going to attack your community. Two different ideologies. I think in terms of genocide Islam community will prevail.

I am just a messenger who told the truth in the fable fame child who said what others wouldn’t dare to say “the king has no clothes”. Is it the child’s fault for saying it or the king’s fault appearing naked in public?

These monks are fools and that is why they became monks to have an easy life! Monks should only involve in religious matters. They have taken a promise they have shed all worldly pleasures and let it appear that way. Such people saying such things only bring disrepute to the very institution they represent. It is the Government that has corrupted them just for political expediencies.

          Hi Blabla,

For the second time I’m saying, I don’t agree with what this Buddhist monk is saying and I totally agree with what you are saying. So I cordially ask you to read the comment and respond rather than argue on a matter that I already agreed with you.

My concern was you bashing the whole community of Sangha. You will go on saying things like this in front of other people, your kids, relatives, etc. Then you spread a really bad image of a whole community. In your next generations to come, they will hate Buddhist monks. The Muslim community is going to grow and become the majority in Sri Lanka. And it’s just a matter of time they are going to slaughter Buddhist monks in numbers just like in the past.

“I would have paid you millions to say this and bring with you the entire Sangha. ” In the above statement, you want the entire community to be uprooted. That’s the mentality your commanders had thousands of years ago, and even in the cases of Myanmar.

You can answer yourself, for the thought that comes to your mind and reflect on that (The thought that comes to your mind just before your rational thinking kicks in)
          – Buddhist monks hacked and chopped throughout the street like vegetables.
          – Islam devotees hacked and chopped throughout the street like vegetables.

I hope you have something to say about your statement,
“I would have paid you millions to say this and bring with you the entire Sangha. “
          Is this your deepest desire?

            Danny
“you bashing the whole community of Sangha”
What this two-legged man said wearing the dress and from the throne seat representing his institution is a very serious matter. Muslims and Non-Buddhist should take it as an official version coming from the Sangha.
If he would have told what he said wearing some other dress and from another place, then it is a private and individual view and not representing the views of the Sangha.
Up to now, to my best of my knowledge, the Sangha has not released any statement in this regard disagreeing or have admonished this man. That is the DUTY of the Sangha, which they have not done. I do have to take the silence of the Sangha as approval of what he said! I am sorry the deafening silence of the Sangha has to be taken that way.
Before I have bashed the Sangha it is this man who did it. I am merely the fable- fame innocent kid who told innocently for everyone to hear including the king “the king is naked”.The king did not become naked after the child said, he was stark naked right from the start of the parade! Everyone saw the king naked but no one dared to tell.
Before one passes the law against ‘hate speech’ they must define what hate speech is. Telling the truth in public is NOT hate speech! Calling a thief, “a thief” is not hate speech. I know very well this man will never be arrested. ‘Hate speech law’ is for the minorities to keep their mouth shut so the majority can do whatever they like against the minorities and minorities have to keep their mouth shut or face prosecution!
For your question to withdraw my statement, first things come first, ask the Sangha to issue a statement disagreeing with this man’s utterances, then I will too withdraw.

              Hi Blabla,

You don’t have to withdraw or anything. You can fight for your race and those so-called Buddhist monks can fight for their race. You can fight fire with fire. You can fight with each other… you can fight for justice… But the path to Jannah will be so distant on every step your inner mind generate hate vibes. Even when fighting for justice you won’t have a peaceful mind. You are burning inside to kill that “saffron pig”. You are not so different from him :/

This is not going to be a better place or a peaceful world. Generation by generation people are fighting for justice and in the process deteriorating their own qualities itself. Not considering their duty on hate speech. They fight for hate speech with hate speech, giving bad advice to the next generation. There is no prominence given to their own duty.

Why do you think I talked to you brother, and try to help you to uplift your qualities in this deteriorating world? Do you think I’m Sinhalese fighting for his race? Ha ha… Islam doesn’t have a race attached to it. Buddhism has Arya race attached to it, not Sinhalese.

Good luck! Burning inside is never a pleasant experience.

Thanks, Danny, I have no hard feelings. I certainly appreciate your comments. In real life, am not a bad person. I merely put my debating skills to practice and that was the intention. “How to hit and still be within the law, safe and sound” I really do not care two hoots what he said and did not say. I am only interested in sharpening my skills.

Whenever you act on something remember your true goal. There will be people coming and going impacting your life. Don’t let your self down even in the name of your race or your relatives or anyone. Do you think it matters to have good debating skills in front of the lord? With whom are you going to argue with? The Lord himself? You can’t have two behaviors online and offline. Can you do a good prayer with a mind full of hatred? Do you think the Lord wants people who have spread hatred with him in Jannah?

I don’t know whether you agree or not. But if the politicians are corrupt the subordinates of them get corrupted. Then the religious followers get corrupted seeking support from politicians. Then the citizens get corrupted and it becomes a cesspit of corruption. That is what is happening to this country.
As citizens, we have to be super strong and keep our minds clear not getting our selves carried away by these corrupt bunch. Because those people are not going to save us. They are going to drag us into their mess, into their stupid arguments. What good that will bring us if we can’t have a clear mind to do our prayers. Or we spoil another poor soul by having our own version of hate speech online. Think about it!

Yes, you have a duty for your race, your relatives. But the way you choose is not the way Lord expects from you. Be mindful! Getting into Jannah is not that easy. You have to practice your good qualities online and offline, not the debating skills brother.
Because we can debate that the Lord is not there, we can bring in logic into the picture as well. But you and I both know that is not the case. Logic and debate can never bring out the truth, only the better party wins the argument. Not the truth!

        Danny..

You too need a check on history..

Have you ever looked at the history of Buddhism. The first major ruler to adopt Buddhism was Emperor Ashoka in ancient India. India’s first Empire was a ruthless totalitarian state. Now Ashoka expanded that empire to its largest extent.

Ashoka was intolerant of other religions and even called for the mass murder of the Jains for the crime of “disrespecting the Buddha.” 18,000 Followers of Jainism were put to death under Ashoka’s rule.

The savagery perpetrated by buddhist monks/rulers.. far exceeds.. than the that of the islamic communities..

Again I urge you to have some facts checked with regards to the Genocides perpetrated by the buddhists.. including the world war 2/myanmar genocides..

Oh.. of course don’t forget the Genocide of the Hindu Tamils of Sri Lanka.

This is a well-calculated speech (if it is factually true) that appeals to a certain historical narrative. It shapes the relations between different ethnic groups in the country, it is a way of using the past to legitimize the present relations between the dominant and the subordinate, thus denial of equal substantive citizenship. The narrative is a political theology in many ways similar to theologies that legitimize racism in other parts of the world. This is no different to ISIS narrative (holy war) that seeks to eliminate those do not conform with their ideology. Until we do away with this ethno-nationalist narrative, the country will continue to suffer. Many are wasting their time to prove why they are no racist, rather than trying to work against racism.

Even with outspoken bigotry such as this which has existed for decades, there are those who vehemently deny that war crimes and human rights violations against the Tamils during the civil war was unfounded allegation, a smear campaign against this peaceful Buddhist state. Even if the mountain of evidence that awaits to be presented in a court of law isn’t enough, this kind of deep rooted hatred in the most revered religious institution of the country should dispel all doubts.

It is very sad that the Chief Prelate of Asgiriya Chapter is clearly demonstrating such hatred towards other communities which clearly unbecoming of a such deeds expected from a person of his status. He should be preaching love and respect for one another in line with Lord Buddha’s teachings. He instead is running a political campaign here. All peace loving Sri Lankans should deplore this statement. Religions are all about healing the souls and minds of people and NOT cultivating hate.

This has been a tremendously helpful discussion for folks like me who know little about the way power politics work in Lanka. I made a personal note to visit this monk next time I visit the country.

Lankan needs thousands of brave monks with gumption to fight Jihadi ISIS fanatics and their slaves who talk mumbo jumbo about “pure” Buddhism, and Buddhist values. There is no “pure” religion anywhere in the world. Every religion occasionally has to encourage their followers into taking an aggressive stand against enemies. The Moslem monsters of Easter Sunday and their barbaric supports of today, can only be tamed if these monks exhort their followers to take to arms against these cannibalistic barbarians. And the other Kaffirs who follow different sects of Christianity, Hinduism and pagan beliefs should join these monks. It should be an all-out Kaffir v. Moslem war, with no quarters given. Moslems should be barred from participating in all normal activities until they can prove that they are not affiliated with Jihadi fanatics, and you can be sure only a small minority can do that. The others should be systematically databased, facial recognition, DNA databasing, etc. and a color code given for their level of fanaticism on an identity card to be always carried out by them. Colors could be red for high likelihood of Jihadi sympathies, etc. Those who pose an obvious threat to Kaffirs should be incarcerated and possibly sterilized. These are all internationally sanctioned ways to fight monsters who are out to kill innocents. China, Israel and Russia have totally crushed Moslem terror in this manner.

Lankan Kaffirs should get off their religious horses and act with the will and gumption to fight the most mortal enemy of humanity, radical, Jihadi Islam.

Prof. Schalk! A voice from the past. I am sure if you skim the net you will find an acceptable translation of this monk’s speech — or should I say, “call to arms”?

But if you can find someone to translate the attached interview with the Ven. Galkande Dhammanande Thero, you will find that there are Buddhist monks in SL who do not share
      the Asgiriya prelate’s attitude.

Yes, Manel, this link works. It’s great to see that translations are getting done.
          .
No doubt it is best to hear the original Sinhala speech, but it’s good to see the translations done, because some folks can’t follow the flow language. To once more unite our country, it is very important that we overcome the barriers placed by language. Thanks to all who are helping out. We all have our limitations. The constructive ideas are coming in all three languages. Some of the ideas coming in English from the likes of Dr Ameer Ali, Prof. Kumar David, and Prof. Jeevan Hoole must be got across to the Sinhalese.
          .
I believe that in Manel’s case, she can manage Sinhala, but cannot hear anything. But what a wonderful spirit you possess.
          .
          You inspire people like us.
          .
DP, you’re right. It’s we who have to correct those Sinhalese who are acting as racists. I’m not sure that this comment slips naturally in at this point in the debate, but thanks to all who are making positive contributions.

Andare 2.0, glad to hear you do not fear Islam. But don’t just state that, do something to fight the followers of its most virulent form, which is now dominant in Lanka. Now why is what I write garbage?

You are certainly entitled to your views but I have visited the island often enough to know that the majority of Buddhists do not think negatively of other religions. In fact they had little animus against Islam, despites obvious visible radicalization and arrogance among Moslems, until Easter Sunday barbarism. Now they have seen the real face of Islam. And I am glad the docile, banter prone and rather effete monks have also decided to weigh in on the grave and present danger of Islam. They should also talk about the Islamic Taqqia, the worst form of deception that the Moslems are Quranically required to engage in, when they are exposed and their terrible crimes are in full view of humanity. Taqqia can be so powerful that even those who won against bloodthirsty Islamic monsters eventually end up losing the long term battle. Someone should write in Sinhalese and Tamil to alert the Kaffirs about this grave danger.

Andare, Islam is a threat to entire world no doubt because of the followers that have lost the ability to think or question. Allah s final and no more. It is also their objective to islamasise the whole world. They are non negotiable. On the other hand sadly and unfortunately Sinhala Buddhism too has become completely dangerous and uncontrollable. These two groups are worse than politicians. Extreme Islam and Buddhism ought to be kept under control if we are to survive as a nation. As it is things look very gloomy. Your racism is just part of that curse.

      Nathan..

Your ignorance is part of this curse too..

Have you ever read the Quran? The Quran CLEARLY STATES.. that the world will never become/belong to One Race/Cast/Religion etc.. because God made it otherwise..

When God made it Pluralistic.. how on earth a follower of that God make it otherwise? for your ignorant mind,

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. [Quran – 49:13]

Had Allah so willed, He would have made you all one single community. However, He lets go astray whomsoever He wills and shows the Right Way to whomsoever He wills.Surely you shall be called to account regarding what you did. [Quran 16:93]

You shall resort to pardon, advocate tolerance, and disregard the ignorant.
      [Quran 7:199]

Tell My servants to treat each other in the best possible manner, for the devil will always try to drive a wedge among them. Surely, the devil is man’s most ardent enemy. [Quran 17:53]

The worshipers of the Most Gracious are those who tread the earth gently, and when the ignorant speak to them, they only utter peace. [Quran 25:63]

who give to charity during the good times, as well as the bad times. They are suppressors of anger, and pardoners of the people. God loves the charitable.[Quran 3:134]

Every follower of the Noble One should be ashamed of this monk.
Just think of what is he trying to say, Implement a Buddhist Sharia Law and stone the Muslims?
Dressed in sacred robes, this person is insulting the Enlightened One himself and his teachings and, he is using his good office to poison people to take up to primitive, raw armed violence. How Buddhist and how lawful is that ?
Buddhism does not preach an eye for an eye. Civilized world does not respond to raw primitive violent crimes with Taliban or ISIS actions; those actions are horrible crimes in the eyes of civilized society This person is grossly un-Buddhist and a promoter of violent crimes. He needs to be de-robed and indicted without hesitation immediately.

      DON PEIRIS

“Buddhism does not preach an eye for an eye”

Sorry Buddhism does preach an eye for an eye. Then why is this monk who said wearing the scared robes in the premises of the holey temple is NOT admonished nor a public statement released by the Sangha disagreeing with the statements he made and why he was NOT arrested? I am to believe that is what the religion preaches. I am not a Buddhist so this is the conclusion anyone will arrive at! Sorry

        Blabla

“Sorry Buddhism does preach an eye for an eye. “

        Buddhism does not advocate violence.
However it is authentic Buddhism taught by the awakened one.
The kind of religion practiced in this island is completely a different cult, originated in the early 1900, founder is not known (suspected to be the Public Racist Anagarika Homeless Dharmapala), and the cult is popularly known as Sinhala/Buddhism.
Crooks, Criminals, Mudalalis, politicians, war criminals …. are said to be patrons of Sinhala/Buddhism and take advantage of its prominence given to it in the constitution.

The core value and ideology has been evolving since 1948. Now it appears Sinhala/Buddhism has all the potential to back a fully fledged Sinhala/Buddhist fascist state.

          Native Vedda

          “Buddhism does not advocate violence.”

But when this so-called high-level priest says such things this is what Non-Buddhist will think, what that religion is about! Especially when there is no statement issued by the temple disagreeing what he has said.

It is not me but him who had insulted the holy place by wearing the holy saffron robes and seated on the holy seat and told such things which never should have come out of his mouth. I am just a messenger who told the truth, and because of what he said the place he comes from also now stinks. Not because I said because what he did to the holy place. I only told the truth. I am the ‘innocent child’ of fable fame who told the truth “the king is naked”!

Instead of advocating people to refrain from frequenting Muslim-owned shops and consuming food offered by Muslims, and stoning the Muslims if he is a real priest and ‘God’s agent’ he should have told “we should correct such people committing such sins, they are misguided people and they need help” Then I should have felt he is a fit person to be a priest.

I’d like to add my voice to yours. Also, it might be interesting to hear a response from Jay Chambers to an earlier allusion to the kind of “tourism” he practices on his visits to Sri Lanka.

What Asgiriya prelate intended is that those who done crimes based on racism should be given strong punishments.(It’s not opposed to Buddhism since Chakkawaththi Seehanadha Suththa implies that if punishments given by ruler is too loose or if gives too much it’ll lead anarchy. And note that he doesn’t say stoning must be legalised for that purpose) Incident of Shafi and Stoning is just examples. And he doesn’t implies that doctor is proven guilty of it. He never said “Muslims Should stoned”. indiscriminately.

Very prominent figures who preached harmony & peace and considered as saints have said statements falls to category that of Warakagoda Gnanarathana, in special contexts and driven by their wisdom. e.g. Jesus, Muhammad, Gandhi, Vivekananda & Pope Benedict 16.

And If you are going to criticize priests begin it by critiquing Mawulawis. In “Unequal Citizens” written by Hyshama Hameen and Hasana Cegu Isadheen – They say that former Quazi of Eastern province given Hadd penalties for Adultery. He have given flogging punishments. And it’s a custom of many Mosque comitees to give flogging punishments for sins recognized by Islam. Once a Muslim guy who loved and married Sinhala girl have given 80 strokes by a ratten cane. penalty was carried by Mosque, under the support of commmunity.

constitution of Sri Lanka says that it’s a fundamental right that no one should be tortured in 11th constitute. and MMDA also never given such permissions to Islamic priests or Quazies. Why are you silent about this and only critiqing wrongs of Buddhists and Sinhalese only?

I could suggest him a simple solution, this monk from asgiriya ask all monks in the temples and previnas of whole SL monks to get married two wife’s each, immediately Buddhist birth rate will jump to 10 folds this is a solution he has to implement. Rather he is preaching hatred that is against Burdha teaching.

“Asgiri Prelate Calls For Stoning Of Muslims”

Since a high priest from Asgiri, the highest place of Buddhism in this country, from the very temple, have said this, so I am to believe that is God’s words, what Buddha would have said. The prelate did NOT say anything wrong and is in keeping with Buddha’s teachings . So now I really understand what Buddhism is.

It is only the Non Buddhist who felt he did wrong, being non-familiar of Buddhist teachings, but really he did not do anything wrong all in keeping with the teaching of Buddha. That is why he was not admonished or distanced by his equals in the Mahasangha, and was he arrested for saying this! So what he said is real Buddhism and he is a great man and Buddha will bless him for what he did.

You are a bloodthirsty racists like asgiriya chapter prelate. Don’t manipulate the Hadith prophet P.B.U.H
beat his wives. He never killed non muslim because under his rule many Jews were there.
He married when his wife was 9 years old
Before comment check history marriage age ( law) in 1887 in denvor state (America) minimum 7 years old.
Check Srilanka udarata law in 1957 minimum 12 years old

      Ishan..

Asma was 10 years older than aisha and was 27 years old in the year of hijra. meaning Aisha was 17 years old. The Prophet married her in the 2AH(second year after hijra) meaning that she was 19 when married.
The argument on culture and time is true but the correct age is 19 years old

Mualims just continue to patronize the Sinhala business you usaully patronize and all those who wore black or whatever color abayas & Hijabs (Until you find something darker than black) just continue same & men who wore jubas and caps do so when you shop except the face veil which you must obey & respect as The law .

As for the Muslims business that are boycotted you need to employ more Sinhalese especially in kitchens even as supervisors and have cctvs & get some advice from hemas

“If Asgiri Mahanayaka Thero’s speech is a hate speech,

    What do you call this

And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
    (Quran 9:5)”
