Athuraliye Rathana Thero Hits Out At Ranil Says He Is A ‘Loser’

Athuraliye Rathana Thero who played an important role during the 2015 President Election today hit out at Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his economic policies, while calling on President Maithripala Sirisena to use the powers given to him by the people and start taking important decisions.

Speaking at the inaugural conference of the Sri Lanka National Council, which was presided by Sirisena, Rathana Thero said, “We didn’t elect Maithripala so that some other gang can come and force down their economic policies on us,” he said.

He called on Sirisena to utilize the power he got from the Presidential Election and be the person making the decisions. “It is only President Sirisena who won; it is he who has the power. Not, Ranil Wickremesinghe nor Mahinda Rajapaksa. They have both lost, so the President is the one who should be making decisions,” he declared.

Rathana Thero said that neither the President nor the Prime Minister can dole out land from this country to foreigners as and when they please. “If they want to go forward, they can’t be making decisions to please their own whims and fancies, instead there must be a concrete national plan which they need to adhere to,” he added. He also criticized Wickremesinghe’s recent decisions to lease land to the Chinese.

He also said that people can’t live in air conditioned rooms and make decisions. “That culture must stop,” he said.

He also added that the Cabinet which meets at Temple Trees is very indecisive on certain decisions because they are hell bent on pleasing certain people. “In the afternoon they will announce one decision, and in the evening they will retract it. This must stop. It is the President who was elected; it is he who has the power. He should be the one making decisions not Ranil Wickremesinghe,” he added.

Land and Police powers should be given to NP — Rathana Thera

Land and Police powers should be given to the people of the Northern Province, said MP Athuraliye Rathana Thera yesterday.

      ….

“We, too, agree on giving land and police powers to the Northern community. A national policy should be adopted before the lands are given, as the poor deserve the lands, not the politicians nor any other wealthy men who claim them,” he said.

“A national policy should be adopted before the lands are given, as the poor deserve the lands, not the politicians nor any other wealthy men who claim them,” he said. ‘

This statement does not make any sense. Whether a person is wealthy or poor is not material when the person is asking for his own legally owned land now occupied by the military.

“We, too, agree on giving land and police powers to the Northern community.”
This I agree with but the process he mentioned is laughable.

Yes I totally agree with you on these long term lease agreements with China that is going to put a huge burden on the future generations!!

No lease should last more that 10 to 15 years…

Gone are the days of the long term 99 Year lease agreement.
They are not relavent to a fast changing global environment of the modern world…

Do not let all Sri Lankans suffer by getting into any long term agreements.

In the sea of Sharks that is Sri Lanka politics – Ratana is a racist and corrupt shark who has got down a duty free SUV, refuses to promote a BIKKUNI order in Sri Lanka.
Rathana has destroyed the vinaya and there should NO Buddhist monks in the corrupt parliament of morons destroying Buddhagama and what the Buddha Taught.

However, Rathana is correct to ask MS to take over because Ranil is a US funded Economic Hit man in Sri Lanka dancing to the tunes of the Advisors of the Right Wing Millenium Challenge Corporation and the IMF that provide FAKE AID and trap developing countries in Debt and then force them to sell their assets.

This is what is about to happen this week as the IMF crook Christine Legard Blackgard visits Sri Lanka to force sale of national assets.
Rathana should organize a big protest against IMF, MCC and Ranil’s Economic Hit men and ask IMF to trace and return the funds looted from Sri Lanka.

Hahaha… you guys are hilarious… But you all (majority) voted for the UNP/Ranil…

According to this story and reading between the lines, what this Thero is really sayingis that now he has the taste of power, he wants more!!! Like decisions should be made from unairconditioned temples that have only the very basic facilities (as ‘Places of Worship’ should be) and that the President should take his inspiration from this Thero and not listen to civilization/modernization…

Ranil might be whatever but wtf… don’t we all have our private lives?? He is the only man with a vision and the knowledge and strength to take Sri Lanka forward… Unless, ofcourse, you all prefer living in the stone age era as the Thero suggests or maybe better still, go for the ‘white van culture’ again…

Suggest you all smoke a nice joint and chill……

The problem is that he is not a thero. But a common thug with a very loud mouth in robes. He sings for the highest bidder or wasi paththata hoyya. This time he has decided to take aim at the PM an easy target. His rackets have earned him a lot of money. The problem with the Buddha Sasana is that it has no control over their monks.
What the PM has accomplished will slowly begin to bear fruit while his detractors keep on braying at his feet to no avail.

However, there a few gems with common sense, despite the national average IQ being 79. You know many of them. The are in Parliament.

Dear Rathana Thero, I may add , We didn’t elect Maithripala so that some other gang, including the ganf of Mahinda Rajapaksa and cronies, can come and force down stealing and killing policies on us, and be freed from all criminal and stealing activities from the past.

Even today, MR has been becoming even more respectable among all thugs inclu. 5.8 voter eligible folks, alone the manner he reacted to gazette issuance last week, revealed a lot. about his MATUARITY.

The state of SL political affairs has come to a point of no return. Not going to stop at 69 years, another 69 years will see poor Sinhala peasant paying a high price for being born in SL. The time of making promises like 5kg rice etc. in the election platforms has long gone now. What makes the voter gets excited is kind of picking which politician can screw the minority best. Both politician and the voter are mutually responsible for the plight that the country is in. Mahinda’s popularity is a clear manifestation of this, the ordinary people do not care how much he robs or many he kills. What matters is how quick one transforms NE into a Sinhala Buddhist land both by ownership and population. This is what likely to expect from reelected Mahinda Gov, and MS or RW don’t have the guts to deal with MR past crimes for the fear of the govt being toppled. .

The fact remains that Ranil, since intruduction to politics by his uncle and making him a Minister of Education, never ever showed Leadership and was and is a loser up to now. The irony is that this Priest turned a politician took such a long time to learn and realize that. In that context Rev. Ratana is a more loser than even Ranil. His announcement that Northern Community must be given land and police powers indicates his ignorance of Governance of a country Why that is not made applicable to the rest of the Regions of the country? Perhaps , what Native Vedda suggested could be the reason i.e ” ….. bought Athraliye Rathanasara for a good price”. Recently he sold his car permit too and could be looking for more to retire and seek NIRVANA.

All this is “Borutalk”. He is a UNP national list MP.

Two years ago they all got together and worked with overseas agents to destry our country.

The result is Sri Lanka is now politically, economically and socially de-establised country. Our country do not have a CEO now who makes strong decisions for the benefit of the country. This trend will destry the prosperity and development of Sri Lanka in the long run.

This monk also contributed heavily to do that process.

Recently , he proposed that the people of the North be given the right to have their own policy with regard to land ownership and distribution , and also law enforcement . How could one say Ranil is a looser’ three times Prime Minister’. Prince Siddhartha went to extremes and having failed selected the middle path and succeeded and it took 6 years. There is only one way that problems of Sinhala Buddhists could be solved permanently and Ven Rathana Thero can do it. That is to spread dhamma as preached by Lord Buddha and make all of us attain nibbana. Lord Buddha advised monks ‘ For two monks not to take the same path and go from village to village and take the message of damma’. [ MAHANENI DEDENAKU EKA MAGA NOYANNA GAM DHANAU SISARA GOS DHARMAYA DESHANA KARANNA’]. If we could do so to the very letter of dhamma all of us will attain nibbana. All our problems including the Ethnic and SAITAM will be solved as there won’t be any Sinhala Buddhist left in sri lanka to fight among themselves. Our problem is although we call ourselves Buddhists we dot practice what we preach.

Ven. Ratana has already reduced his standing by becoming a politician who is only vocal. He seems not to realize that a President, however executive he can be, cannot run a government without a Parliament in his favour. In that context Premier Ranil holds the buttons. Prior to the 19th amendment MY3 could have done another CBK in dissolving the Parliament etc. But now, the only way is a break up in the UNP. Is that possible? I do not know the insider information to that extent to give a reaonably correct answer and I assume it is united and portrays RW as its leader. In that context Ven. Ratana’s statement “It is the President who was elected; it is he who has the power. He should be the one making decisions not Ranil Wickremesinghe” is just noise.

But I must agree with Ven. Ratana if his statement “In the afternoon they will announce one decision, and in the evening they will retract it. This must stop.” is true thus displaying that no well considered and mature decisions are not made.

      Common Sense.

President Maithripala sirisena is weak. Rajapakse was at least a dictator and PM was only signing to Kudu-containers.

Ranil does not have a mandate as he is part of a mixed govt. President is not the same. President should take decisions and he should not allow Ranil to decide it because, he has over and over proved that he is working for his own ends.

Ranil is corrupt and he promotes corruption in every way. He kppes MPs happy. Some how his intention is to become the president and he doe snot mind if it destroys Sri lanka.

Sinhala people have taken enough. Now, that should be stopped.

What do you mean Sinhala people have taken enough. Ranil and Rajapakse are Sinhalese. You can easily distinguish between a regime and Sinhalese but can’t distinguish between LTTE regime and Tamils. Ignorance is not going to help you to reach Nirvana.

” …. people can’t live in air conditioned rooms and make decisions. “That culture must stop ….”

I agree with you but just as a point of interest, do you by any chance enjoy the air conditioning in a luxury 4×4, imported duty free?

One other thing. Why don’t you leave the robes & then continue your patriotic quest to reform SL? I don’t think Buddhism & ‘patriotism’ mix well because, correct me if I am wrong, in Buddhism, everybody is equal & is expected to be treated with ‘metta, Karuna & muditha’ to mend even evil ways & the primary objective of a Buddhist monk is to provide spiritual guidance, preferably, at a temple. Insulting language & any close attachment (whether it can be separated from ‘patriotism’ or not) is unbecoming of a Buddhist monk

Buddhist clergy by engaging in politics have let down the Buddhists. Buddhists by using monks to gain political power have spoiled them. It is advisable for clergy to be devoid of politics. Majority of Buddhists are against Buddhist clergy engaging in politics but there is nobody to bell the cat. The rot that SWRD started is continuing . Clergy is going for things material. They start with a Bo tree a small Awasa then a Makara thorana and a huge boundary wall a small car and end up with a Mercedes. Most of the Nayaka Theros and political theros use A/C Benz cars and i have observed that when some Buddhist clergy come for Bana preaching their drivers are expected to start the car 15 minutes before Bana ends so that the car will be nice and cool for the occupant.
