Attacks On Muslim-Owned Property And Mosques Continues

The attacks on Muslim-owned property and mosques have not yet been contained although it has been over a week since the deadly clashes that erupted in Aluthgama and Beruwala; the most recent incident occurring in Rathmalana.

Rathmalana Mosque attackThe Thayalan Bawa Jumma Masjid located in Rathmalana had been attacked by an unidentified group at about 1.30 last morning. The mosque door had been burnt using rags that were set ablaze. The Mosque trustee’s wife who had noticed the fire in time had raised an alarm. The neighbours had helped them douse the fire soon, avoiding any heavy damages to the structure.

Upon lodging a complaint with the Police, a sniffer dog had been brought to the premises in the hope of tracking the instigators. However, no arrests had been made during the time of writing under suspicion of instigating the attack.

Several politicians including government Minister A. H. M. Fowzie and opposition MP Azath Salley had visited the mosque yesterday to inquire the damages to the premises and had also spoken to the residents in the area concerning the incident.

Fausy, Hakim, Rishard must resign from their ministry posts right now to show the world their protest. Still they can fight for their people’s right in the parliament as MPs.

Clips of Video evident, Hate speeches, Deliberate lies must be sent to all embassies and UNHRC. I hope they have done it already.

I have visited this Sufi shrine several times from 1963. Its peaceful and serene ambience brings about an inner calm that can only be felt and is hard to describe. I also attracts many visitors from other religions, particularly the Hindus. It is a shame on our nation that shrine where Thalayan Bawa is entombed has been subject to attempted arson.

Is nothing sacred in the country any more!p? Is profanity replacing sanctity in this country as the founding principle of life?

Hatred is part of their psyche. They try hard to bring the Muslims down, terrorize them, attack their businesses, and blame them for their own injuries. It must be envy that makes them want to attack successful businesses, because those who mindless loot, attack and burn, or hardly successful individuals with big bank accounts. They are not intelligent to realize that they are being used as puppets to destroy and show their hatred for minorities, while those behind these hate crimes sit in their air-conditioned homes and offices, and aid and abet the criminals. Ignorance and lack of education makes people behave like wild animals.

Since Sri Lankan police are not able to catch any of the offenders. Its time for the “vigilante forces” (not violent forces) to capture these attackers, investigate and record their statements on video before handing them over to the police. It is important for the “vigilante forces” not to harm the person whom they catch in any way. Otherwise the evidence will become weak. They also investigate to find out who is behind all these provocations.
