How can Dayan J say he got a victory in 2009 Geneva when he betrayed the country and MahindaR (got MahindaR trapped) by secretly adding 13-A to 2009 his resolution? 13-A is the path to Kosovo.
I do not know about Yasa but Rosan is the husband and wife supporters of Tissa Vitharana’s infamous majority report.
Looks like Kodagoda memorial has become a black-white affairs
/
Silva / August 9, 2013
Stupid Moron, 13A is not a secret to add or remove when ever you desire to do so. Dayan did not include 13A to the constitution. It was part of 1987 Indo-Lanka pact and known to the whole world.
What would have happened to the 2009 Geneva resolution if Dayan did not intervine?
Are you suggesting that MahindaR is a damn fool to get trapped?
/
NAK / August 10, 2013
You don’t seem to understand what you are talking about.DJ without any need added (secretly?)13A to the list of promises he gave to UNHRC in 2009.By doing that he made 13A fixed to UNHRC and the government stuck with the 13A.

You appear to have a loss of memory.
On 23 May 2009,(before 2009 Geneva) President Rajapakse announced to the world in a public statement that he would implement the 13th and even promised 13 plus plus
C Wije- Give yourself a “tokka” you may regain that loss of memory!

That it isn’t at all inevitable. It can very well happen though, IF there is significant state violence directed against the Northern PC and the people.

Then the northern PC will be amalgamted with the TN. OMG,we can’t afford to let that happen now,can we?. What do we do now? ASk DJ…ok ok do as India says… every thing will be OK!

The problem is, Dayan, MARA has the smallest brain a human being could possibly have and the person who runs the country – GORA – has no brain at all. The ramifications are that your dare warnings will become a reality. Cyprus Solution is well and truly in the making! As prabaharan is not around this time Indian Army will receive a red carpet reception in the North. I’m sure Douglas D will be there to greet them before he is caught and produced before a criminal court in chennai for kidnap, ransom and murder!!!

Wow! Just the right type and amount of stupid racist mentality stupid Sinhalese have enjoyed genetically, historically, politically and for centuries and would ultimately activate the final “Indian burst intervention”! Your typed fools never learn a thing even if you listen to the most illuminating kind of lecture and hence represent the “stupid gene” of Sinhala nation.

Hat’s off. A very good analytic of what our foreign policy should be.
MR is now blinded by the blind racists surrounded by him. You can’t blame the racists for this debacle make MR innocent. Because birds of feather flocks together.
MR should learn from leaders like Lee Kuan how he managed the foreign policies when it is surrounded by Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Britain and USA. How he balanced all big brothers surrounded by them.
Dayan specifically mentioned how MR failed our 4 northern neighbors.
Hope MR get the message of this Dayan’s speech for the country’s sake.

‘Hope MR get the message of this Dayan’s speech for the country’s sake’.
MR is not intelligent enough to understand political diplomacy or diplomatic tactics. MR is as same as VP. Both are with same frame of mind.
MR will never understand what Dr. Dayan is trying to say. Whatever said done people like Dayan are important to any govt/regime since they talk sense and also they know the political language to converse easily with any foreign govt/regime.
The other thing is that MR is not leqst bothered about the future of people of SL. He is only worried about his family and its future. MR firmly believe that he will not lose any future elections. He assumes that Rajapakses will never be defeated. He has become a megalomaniac because of the power. This is not the same people friendly, down to earth, pro socialist MR who was a minister under CBK. This MR completely insane so in rampage. No future for SL with this regime. The sooner MR & clan go the better for all of us.

Lee Kuan yu is a honest, respectable, true patriot who truly loves his country and a visionary leader.
Not the bogus cunning Desapremi, double character Buddha worshipping, fake Sinhala patriot Alibaba thief whose only goal is to Rob the country and deceive it’s people.

Why are you wasting your words? For the Rajapakshe regime, this is like pouring water on duck’s back.
Everybody knows that the present regime is run by Gota and not Mahinda.
Karma is at work and your speech is not going to change anything. Gota is digging the grave for the Rajapakshe regime and this is the way things should happen. Everything is going in the right direction. The begining of the end for the Rajapakshe regime has began. Karma is great.

What Dayan has done is called “Guts”. He has the guts to say what the truth is. Although he did not have the guts when he was part of the government, we all should admire his change of heart and his guts to put out what has to be said and done. We respect you Dayan. Unlike Rajeeva who sleeps with the government and soft pedals with the opposition. What we need is all the speeches and written articles of Dayan to be translated into Sinhala and English and broadcasted or published as the case may be so that the masses will be able to read, listen and understand.

Dayan J is a very educated, right thinking, fair and honest gentleman of the highest order, people like these do not survive with the present goon regime, because he calls a spade a spade and is not a boot licker. Dayan J must not come into politics and I am very sure we need people like DJ who will get the whole hearted support of the masses from every race and sure he can take the country on the right path as the next President of Sri Lanka, because RW is just useless and all die hard suporters of the UNP will susre vote for DJ, just listen to him and you will be amazed with his analysis of what is happening in this curse of SL.

Madam, you need to see a psychiatrist without delay for describing Dayan J, one of the premier apologists for this vile regime in the terms you have.

I could’t agree more with Aney Apochchi’s reply. True, Dayan is very well-read, well-educated, sophisticated, an excellent writer, pleasant gentleman & blabla, but, he has his own agendas, and every word he utters has an ulterior motive and a shrewd agenda. He’s seeking some form of appointment, a posting/political position – that’s what the fuss is all about.

Your assessment is on the spot.
Dayan does have a well above average command of English, but an even greater degree of aptitude for manipulating that talent for selfish intends, shamelessly twisting tales as needed to gain personal advantage, forever hoodwinking public.
While the first-time readers of his columns may be mesmerized instantaneously, that passes rather quickly. His true snake-in-the-grass effectiveness becomes obvious only when one follows his writings over a period of time.
He could beat the vilest of politicians any day in his canards. As for being (mis)taken for an academic or intellect – that is a grotesque tragedy.
/

Let’s not go overboard here! Colvin was responsible for that abomination of a “Republican Constitution” that Mrs. B and Co. promulgated and was as much of a hypocrite as DJ.
You sound old enough to remember his famous “one language two countries, two languages one country” on which he and his LSSP colleagues reneged for power and position.
PLEASE don’t try to re-write a particularly reprehensible part of Sri Lanka’s political history and the part that Colvin played in it.

A comprehensive analysis of the internationl situation. Unfortunately the Southern polity only hears the rhetoric of JHU / BBS / NFS and the Regime. We are complacent in the lie that we are the Wonder of Asia and Hub of the Indian Ocean.
Current regime strategy is to change the demography of the North which will take some doing. To match the Tamil population it would mean moving 900,000 Sinhalese to the North which is quite an impossible task. Simply planting statues on the roadside and building camps for the army is a pipe dream.
Meantime storm clouds are gathering with TN over the fisherman issue. It is only a matter of time before one of our naval craft are badly mauled to give a clear signal to the regime. Till then it is a question of the Rajapakse ruling the waves.

Dr Dayan Jayatilleka / August 12, 2013
For the sake of absolute clarity, and to prevent the time wasted in speculation, I have not changed by one comma or decimal, my consistent position over the years/decades on the LTTE, the CFA, the war, the drive to decimate the Tiger leadership and army, the ludicrous charge of genocide, the issue of an international inquiry into accountability, desirability of devolution and the 13th amendment, the need for the recognition of the multi-ethnic character of Sri Lanka and the equality of rights of all citizens, my opposition to Sinhala Buddhist chauvinism and policies of cultural occupation of the North, my support for the armed forces and my firm resistance to the witting use of lethal force against unarmed non-combatant civilians (I oppose not only Weliweriya but the Trinco 5 and the ACF 17 killings published articles in the mainstream newspapers while ambassador against the murder of Lasantha).
Another thing that hasn’t changed is my preference for Mahinda Rajapaksa over Ranil Wickremesinghe IF (and as long as) that remains the sole choice for Presidency.
And no, I have no intention of accepting any state posting here or overseas, not because of some negative epiphany about MR, but because he is increasingly becoming/being turned into a mask for a military-bureaucratic power center and a clan-based economic cartel.
However, I must also disclose my view that without MR, the Northern PC elections could never be held, whatever the degree of external pressure, not only because he presided over the defeat of the LTTE but because any other administration ( of a Ranil, JRJ or CBK variety) would have been vulnerable as he is not, to a Sinhala Buddhist backlash in the streets. His defeat of the LTTE and his popular profile is what makes him less vulnerable to such a backlash.
I hope my views are crystal clear to everyone.

Dr Dayan Jayatilleka,
Thank you for your open, honest and intelligent comment.
We know that it was due to your open, honest and straight foreward self that made President to take you and your team out from last two Geneva UNHRC meetings that Sri Lanka lost miserably. If President thinks that he could hoodwink UNHRC by changing the coats every year, it’s a mistake. Only cvowards do those cheap dirty games.
If President Rajapakse thinks that he could hoodwink by Fooling the International community, I think he is making a grave mistake. We lost CW GSP status as well as many more direct foreign investments due to his near sighted Fishy foreing policy.
Also this is the first time in Sri Lanka’s history that we got a black mark and almost came closer to a Pariah state in the UN and among world community. President let down Sri Lanka’s reputation to the lowest level among the International community.
It is good that you kind of professionals coming foreward to tell the truth to the world and advise MR before he take the country further into precipice. Hiding behind China card will not take Sri Lanka anywhere but will only bring misery to all of us.
That’s why I admire Gen.Sarath Fonseka than anybody, because he is more honest, straight foreward and disciplene than many other Politicians.
Keep fighting for Democracy and for those People who are voiceless, weak and helpless.
