The IMF and the WOrld Bank should be shut down having failed miserably to keep the global economy in order despite the billions of dollars paid to so-called experts at the Breton Woods twins. It is indeed a scandal that countries like India, China and Brazil with millions of poor people are paying money into IMF to keep western economies which have exploited the global south for so long able to continue their life style. Economic Globalization and the ‘knowledge’ produced by these IFIs to legitimize “trickel up” enabling the rich to get richer and the poor poorer is indeed a joke!

The twelve year Victoria Grant’s speech reminds me of the old story of “Emperor’s Clothes”. Everyone praised the emperor’s clothes when he was actually naked and it was up to an innocent ignorant little child to proclaim the truth which the adults could not see: The emperor is without clothes. Likewise, today, it appears that all the adults are going with central banks, our own included, in praising printing of money and bringing prosperity to us. No one has the patience, will and courage to tell the truth because telling truth appears to be showing one’s own stupidity in a society where everyone pretends to be intellectuals. Victoria Grant shatters this myth because she has no fear of being labelled as an ignoramus. We too need a Victoria Grant in SL to see the obvious and tell us it.
