The Homagama Magistrate has ordered the arrest of Bodu Bala Sena Secretary General, Galagoda Atte Gnanasara, over charges of contempt of court and the disruption of court proceedings.
During the proceedings in the Prageeth Ekneligoda case today Gnasara has allegedly insulted the court. Buddhist monk Gnanasara has allegedly threatened Ekneligoda’s wife Sandya in the premises of the court.

While stressing that it is a timely need to have the Bhikku Kathikawath Bill, Asgiriya Chapter Mahanayake Ven. Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera said there was a misconception in the society about the bill due to some of its contents.
“We feel the problematic situation has arisen because some of the content that should be included in each Kathikawatha of the chapters, had been included in this bill,” the Mahanayake Thera said in a statement.
The Thera also said bill is the result of the request by the Maha Sangha led by the Mahanayakes of the three-chapters from the government.
“There is a problematic situation in society because of the way the media reported it. This is not an act of the government to impose rules and regulations on the Bhikkus, but a bill to register in each chapter,” the statement said.
However, the statement said the Karaka Sabha of the Asgiriya Chapter would further study the bill and submit their views to the government.

No doubt all of this will be watched keenly at the local UN office as well and have some bearing on the stand the UN will take on their insistence on foreign judges in the upcoming hearings against out forces.
The whole world – and the UN – would be interested to know if we are mature enough to dispense justice equitably to all, be they yellow or white robed. If we prove ourselves incapable, we would have proved yet again that we simply aren’t a mature democracy, and need all the help we can get from foreign judges in our crucial human rights cases.

Why are the monotheists worried? Nothing happens in this world unless their respective God wills it.
Example 1: What happened today to Gnanasara was pre ordained by Allah, Jehovah, Siva et al working independently or working as a consortium. Only Buddha is conspicuous by his absence. He seems to intervene only when his Sakya clan is threatened. He is sleeping peacefully in Nirvana while his disciple is being insulted and harassed. Even Gaban Atha is disinterested and spat out a mouthful of Betel Juice on the Star Betelgeuse turning it off.
Example 2: We have seen Gnasara in a threatening pose, with his finger pointed at that Ulema, who seems to be terrified of being attacked.
