Metropolitan communications the installer of the call recording system at Perpetual Treasuries informed the Bond Commission today, that the recording system they had installed at Perpetual Treasuries was deleted on July 6, and files had been selectively copied by the company.

Taking another dramatic turn at the commission, the Chief Engineer of Metropolitan communication Nalin Dharmarathme who took the witness stand in the middle of cross examination of Perpetual CEO Kasun Palisena confirmed that the evidence presented to the Commission by Perpetual Treasuries was fabricated and tampered with.
He said that the call recordings provided to the commission were not from the system Metropolitan had installed.
The Attorney Generals Department earlier, repeatedly questioned Palisena regarding missing recordings. The Department also said that unlike all other recordings provided to them by entities, the recordings provided by Perpetual had no serial numbers and caller IDs.
Palisena repeatedly kept saying that this was all the company had and that he had given all recordings to the commission.
Palisena confirmed that the Commission had been given the exact recordings as they were also through an afffidavit which was read out at the Commission.
Lawyer for Perpetual Nihal Fernando also repeatedly told the Commission that Perpetual had given everything in their possession and that they could not provide any of the other details including caller ID numbers and the call durations as the system did not possess the information.
However, according to Dharmarathne’s testimony today Perpetual had been lying to the Commission throughout.
The Attorney General’s department said the witness and the company must be held in contempt of the Commission.

Why didn’t CID arrest Aloysius and Arjun Mahendran when there is ample proof that they made a profit illegally at the expense of state institutions making a colossal loss to the government? They even tampered evidence not only phone but also records in the Central Bank.
Where is the justice Mr. President? Aloysius who blatantly lied to the PCoI that he couldn’t remember the password and later tried to get access to his phone using the forgotten password is immune to the law. Why didn’t the same law that brought Shashi Weerawansa to Courts apply to Aloysius who misled the Commission with false information?
Who gave the immunity to CEO Palisena who lied in his affidavit and the company lawyer Nihal Fernando who also confirmed all Palisena’s lies were true?
An issue with regard to someone’s personal passport which cost zero losses to the government has been given a speedy persuasion while Ranil’s partners in crime who caused trillion rupee losses to the government are scot free.
A former lady principal who requested Rs. 25,000 as a bribe, a first timer, was given the maximum punishment – a ‘rigorous’ imprisonment of 8 years – (In India this type of punishments are given for causing death, breaking limbs or chopping hands) while Aloysius and Mahendran were allowed to repeat the same crime for two years, and still, with no punishment at all.
Isn’t this selective justice and double standards of Yahapalanaya/Good Governance/Lichchavi Rulers?
While someone from superclass was granted bail considering the services rendered to the country to defeat terrorism by directing tri-forces from an air-conditioned operation room as a privilege, the same services rendered by a soldier or an intelligence officer who fought for the country with life right in the middle of the battlefield, in the same war, was not regarded as a privilege to grant bail.
