Former MP and Ex- COPE member Rosy Senanayake following the style of Ravi Karunanayake, who is also now directly a part of the Prime Ministers retinue denied “having knowledge” of anything to do with her name surfacing during the Bond Commission revelations.
In a letter addressed to the media, under the letterhead of the Prime Ministers office Senanayake said she denies all inferences drawn against her.
The conversation which involved her son, Kanishka Senanayake was in reference to him in his personal capacity.
Senanayake instead of setting out the facts straight before the public on a matter that was personal in nature, used the Prime MInister’s office to lambast the media and its conduct.
She failed to point out as to if Arjun Aloysius and her son knew each other. Commenting on the nexus between the two, Commissioner Justice Jayawardena said that they had a common meeting point which was the “infamous international school in Colombo”.
Senanayake’s son was a student of Colombo International School, the same school at which Arjun Aloysius, Anika Wijesuriya and Ravi Karunanayakes daughters studied.
She failed to say how ethical it was for her to sit on a committee investigating her son’s friend, who had made a startling 40 billion rupee profit in the years after the new Government took over.
Earlier, Ravi Karunanayake despite living in the house paid by Arjun Aloysius for over 9 months and thereafter purchasing the house from Anika Wijesuriya, denied having any knowledge of the conflict of interest or allegations of bribery.
He also attacked the media of tarnishing him.
Senanayake followed the same line of defence, targeting the media, in what was only a reported conversation, during which her name surfaced.
Senanayake earlier refused to sign the Interim Report by the COPE committee headed by DEW Gunasekara appointed to investigate into the Bonds issued.

So all these fancy jargon/technical-hoopla and auctions are for nothing more than to transfer funds/money from one section of the CB to another section of the CB.
So, the billions in commissions paid to outsiders, is for nothing more than to facilitate a transfer of funds from one section of the CB to another section of the CB.

I am not a financial genius, but the above means that the loss will be spread out over THE TENURE OF THE BILLS. If that is 30 years, then we have to admit that the real value of whatever loss will be MUCH less than what it is now (probably wouldn’t buy you a couple of 2nd hand Marutis).
All this is based on the (artificial) increase of the rates by 3%.
To put things in perspective, the T- bill rates hit 22% during CBK’s time.
As I said before, there has been criminality in terms of insider trading, but I believe the claims of fantastic losses should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Anyway, the article claims that PTL made a 40 billion rupee profit, which is absolute BS. Equating the government’s loss to PTL’s gain is dishonest.

Yes, that would be called Net Present Value (NPV). A lot of assumption on future interest rates etc.
However, assuming the loss from Bond will be much less in future, then the cost of Mattala and Hambantota Harbor will be two used motor bike. The interest rate from the Chinese was 3-6% if I remember correctly.
So for the price of two mo bikes in the future, we have a tangible asset (white elephant or not). Whereas from the Bond Scam, just a pile of Debt.

A simple example is the fact that we all in Sri Lanka have to pay a high interest rate for every single cent we borrow during the 30 year period to come, thank to Bond Scam engineered by UNP hierarchy. That’s in addition to the 12.5 billion that was a direct loss to CB and EPF. Imagine when a 20 million citizens’ day to day work involving millions of monetary transactions for over 30 year period! How much do you think it would be? That’s the indirect loss that cannot be figured out easily!
Rosy Senanayake may be lily-white on her figure and that’s where foolish UNPers get mesmerized and fooled. I don’t think any of the UNP politicians from Colombo are honest; they are Sri Lankans by name only. By action they are all slaves of the so-called international mafia. How does RosyS, rejected by voters in 2015, have an office at Temple Trees; RaviK even after his ouster from the Cabinet is still a virtual minister with an office at TT. Both are buddies of the UNP leader and they are hell-bent to protect him no matter what. All this work in virtual secrecy! This Bond Scam could be their end game. Silly JRJ constitution is full of holes. The level of checks and balances are practically zero. How could JRJ claim he created the independent Executive, Legislative and the Judicial branches when his silly constitution provides the Executive to hire and fire the Ministers ? The Executive would high-jack the independence of the Legislature by turning all MP’s to Ministers.
Remember the parliament carries the power of the purse !
Added to that is the issue that the party leader decides who runs from his party next. So if the party leader ( who might be President) and his family rob the nation, no body would dare criticize him so that his future in the party is gone, He will be branded a pariah. He will never get nomination to run for any office. So essentially, everybody keeps quiet and suck up the the leader.
SL should elect the candidates for elected office, through a secret balloted Primaries like in USA. So any decent citizen of any class or creed can become a candidate and does not have to be sucking up-to the leadership.
Our constitution should provide for Citizens initiatives at the ballot to make into law the corrupt bunch of MP’s will never do.
I can go on and on about the stupidity of JRJ 1978 constitution… Boy or boy, when are we going to fix this fundamental issue of getting a sensible constitution?
Until till the day light robbery of our poor nation will continue. We will be developing ( so called ) our country on a Bank of China credit card at 10% interest when the going rate across the world is 1%.
…A country like no other !!!!

You put your finger on the real fault. Good one Asoka. JR created a system that gave him power. Like all, he thought he will go on forever. He was a charlatan but those who came after him were greater charlatans. They milked the country, Chandrika, Mahinda, his brothers and progeny and now the present lot.
Why have special commissions at public cost? if the pickpocket has to go to the criminal courts for stealing a purse with hundred rupees, why not these crooks who have stolen so much more from the poor of our poor nation? Please send them to the courts to be tried by the ordinary courts rather than have fancy lawyers like Marapones defend them and get them out at commissions. At least, the police would have made a record of investigations and the magistrate would have given a considered verdict as at a criminal trial. Let us not have a whitewash.

When rosy was leaking what was the other COPE members including sunil handunettige doing?Did they try to plug the leak?If so was the leak too big for them to stop?then they should have called for backup to stop the leak.Surely they must have been aware she was leaking.It would have been highly unusual while sitting there with her for them to not know that she was leaking.

He is so adept at manipulative , systematic schemes that he has so far succeeded in placating the gullible innocent hapless villagers in his whiter than white robes and at the same time allowing a free hand for the Colombo seven rogues who have both their feet in the colonial , now called neoliberal west. What a rogue and charlatan this ma Sirisena is.
Of course, we all knew that Ranil, Ravi, Malik , Charitha Ratwatte, Paskaraingam(- now living in London) have ben born in Colombo seven, were educated in Colombo seven, hope to die in Colombo seven, want to educate their children in London ‘Seven’.
What is inexplicable is how Gamaralage MaithrepalaSirisena (who cannot joint two words in English, has failed his GCSE in English, who has no higher education, either in English or Sinhala), then Champika Ranawaka, Ratana, Sobitha ( who openly despised the Colombo seven elite), disguised in white attire or yellow robes, cunningly portraying themselves as patriots,; Anura Dissanayake and the JVP as the representative of the oppressed working class of the Sinhalese, along with life long- corrupt and unprincipled politicians like Rajitha and S B Dissanayaka joined hands with the Colombo Seven elitist clique to take this country back to the dark ages of subjugation by western colonial-now neoliberal- forces all grouped together in aiding and abetting this heinous crime against this country called Lankawa.
Gamaralage Sirisena is the wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is the traitor -in chief against our motherland.
