Bond Scam: Rosy Uses PM Privileges, Does A Ravi K

Former MP and Ex- COPE member Rosy Senanayake following the style of Ravi Karunanayake, who is also now directly a part of the Prime Ministers retinue denied “having knowledge” of anything to do with her name surfacing during the Bond Commission revelations.

In a letter addressed to the media, under the letterhead of the Prime Ministers office Senanayake said she denies all inferences drawn against her.

The conversation which involved her son, Kanishka Senanayake was in reference to him in his personal capacity.

Senanayake instead of setting out the facts straight before the public on a matter that was personal in nature, used the Prime MInister’s office to lambast the media and its conduct.

She failed to point out as to if Arjun Aloysius and her son knew each other. Commenting on the nexus between the two, Commissioner Justice Jayawardena said that they had a common meeting point which was the “infamous international school in Colombo”.

Senanayake’s son was a student of Colombo International School, the same school at which Arjun Aloysius, Anika Wijesuriya and Ravi Karunanayakes daughters studied.

She failed to say how ethical it was for her to sit on a committee investigating her son’s friend, who had made a startling 40 billion rupee profit in the years after the new Government took over.

Earlier, Ravi Karunanayake despite living in the house paid by Arjun Aloysius for over 9 months and thereafter purchasing the house from Anika Wijesuriya, denied having any knowledge of the conflict of interest or allegations of bribery.

He also attacked the media of tarnishing him.

Senanayake followed the same line of defence, targeting the media, in what was only a reported conversation, during which her name surfaced.

Senanayake earlier refused to sign the Interim Report by the COPE committee headed by DEW Gunasekara appointed to investigate into the Bonds issued.

We publish below the statement in full:

It doesn’t matter who said what or who did what.

All these technicalities, 99% of we plebeians out here don’t understand.

So, here’s a simplified plebeian’s version of this shindig.

EPF is the biggest pot of gold in SL. Its bigger than the combined value of all the listed companies in the Colombo stock exchange.

Cabraal, Mahinda and his buddies robbed it …………. but DEW wouldn’t tell you that.

Mahendran, Ranil, Aloysius, Ravi and buddies robbed it …………..but Rosy, Sujeeva and others wouldn’t tell you that. But Ranjan and Harsha would.

The funds in the EPF is “invested” under the “guidance” of the Central Bank as the EPF is managed by a section of the Central Bank.
The central bank borrows from the EPF.
So all these fancy jargon/technical-hoopla and auctions are for nothing more than to transfer funds/money from one section of the CB to another section of the CB.
So, the billions in commissions paid to outsiders, is for nothing more than to facilitate a transfer of funds from one section of the CB to another section of the CB.
Couldn’t have they just walked up and asked?
That’s the great beauty of this shindig! And my only regret is that I couldn’t think of it first; Cabraal beat me to it.
I dunno what my religion would have to say about it ………. but if you have great wealth religions have a way of coming around to see things from your point of view.
      ……………………..
Man the difference between me and Mahinda is, I’ll rob you and tell it to your face. He’ll hang around for you to thank him. …………… Let’s see who gets to Nivan Sapa first

Ranil Wickramasinghe must be held accountable for the Bond scam. When will Ranil Wickramasinghe and his CB appointee Mahendran be summoned to CID to be cross examined on the bond scam?
When will Ranil Wickramasinghe’s phone and computer be taken in to reveal the calls made by RW to Mahendran to implement the bond scam so that the UNP could get rich and buy corrupt politicians?

      ……………………….
What is the frigging use of all the gold-plated “education” if it’s not delivered to the patients?
Go to a hospital and see how the “high standard of education” has delivered the goods to the patients!

Can I please vomit on the heads of these bastards and bitches? International schools are the breeding grounds of future criminals. They must all be closed down. Rich uncaring people without an ounce of sympathy for the plight of the people are groomed there to be as greedy as possible and live lives that are totally divorced from those of people. Why have these schools or these people?

      Watch my words!!
There are thousands of these types , running / flying around sometimes with BOGus DEGREES OBTAINED DEGREES FRAUDULENTLY BECAUSE DADDY OR MUMMY HAS payed for the synthetic Certificate.
Just like Namal Baba’s LOWYER (NOT LAWYER ) Certificate and the unruly son of our President and his friends they’re all were the products of this Elite group.
Sons and daughters of Politicians , and Government doctors.
They are on the roads wasting time on GMOA induced strikes.
When do they study or sit for the exams???
Oh! Wait ! Exam cheating is the other way of obtaining degrees, we all know how an ARMY MEDICAL OFFICER AND HIS SON WERE CAUGHT RED HANDED RECENTLY FOR LEAKING A/L. Papers.

“She failed to say how ethical it was for her to sit on a committee investigating her son’s friend, who had made a startling 40 billion rupee profit in the years after the new Government took over.”
    Really?
As far as I know , she was not in the COPE at the time (2016), because she lost her seat at the August elections.
40 billion profit in 12 months from trading 10 billion worth of bonds at 12%??
As far as I know, the most you can make is 1.2 billion. If there is a financial genius out there who can explain how 40 billion can be made, please tell me so that I can make some money myself!
Claiming the profit over 30 years as a one-year profit is ignorant. In 30 year’s time, 40 billion will probably buy you a BMW SUV. I say PTL has been conned by the government!
CT, you ought to do your arithmetic before bandying figures around. I am not trying to protect anybody, there has obviously been insider dealing and corruption. But the bare fact is that the Govt. pays only 1.2 Billion every year.
    Let’s not sensationalize the issue.

      A link below and quote
Just five weeks after the controversial 30-year Treasury Bond issue, the country has incurred an additional Rs. 5.3 billion as higher interest costs for this year alone and the incremental borrowing cost during the tenure of the different T-Bills and T-Bonds issued within the last five weeks will now cost the country a staggering Rs. 42.5 billion.
This is on the basis of an expert computation (See Page 5) of the increase in interest costs that has been suffered by the Government as a result of the 30-year bond interest rate being artificially increased on 27 February 2015.

      http://www.ft.lk/article/407395/Treasury-Bond-fiasco-leads-to-Rs–42-5-b-bleed-claim-analysts

The 10 billion Issue cost the country a very minimum of 12.5 billion loss. Thats the cost between the prevailing Interest Rate of 9.5%
versus the the accepted at Interest Rate of 11.75%.

        Hi sbarrkum,
You are the only person who has come up with a possible answer. I know you are a financial analyst (genius ?)
But again “the incremental borrowing cost during the tenure of the different T-Bills and T-Bonds issued within the last five weeks will now cost the country a staggering Rs. 42.5 billion.”
I am not a financial genius, but the above means that the loss will be spread out over THE TENURE OF THE BILLS. If that is 30 years, then we have to admit that the real value of whatever loss will be MUCH less than what it is now (probably wouldn’t buy you a couple of 2nd hand Marutis).
All this is based on the (artificial) increase of the rates by 3%.
To put things in perspective, the T- bill rates hit 22% during CBK’s time.
As I said before, there has been criminality in terms of insider trading, but I believe the claims of fantastic losses should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Anyway, the article claims that PTL made a 40 billion rupee profit, which is absolute BS. Equating the government’s loss to PTL’s gain is dishonest.

Yes, that would be called Net Present Value (NPV). A lot of assumption on future interest rates etc.

However, assuming the loss from Bond will be much less in future, then the cost of Mattala and Hambantota Harbor will be two used motor bike. The interest rate from the Chinese was 3-6% if I remember correctly.

So for the price of two mo bikes in the future, we have a tangible asset (white elephant or not). Whereas from the Bond Scam, just a pile of Debt.

Not quite accurate. In 30 years the debt will be fully paid off. But the white elephants will be in Chinese hands for 99 years!

You want to talk about ethics and conflict of interests? You have to look no further than Trump’s white house. Almost incestuous relationship with his favored daughter Ivanka. Ivanka and her husband are top advisors. The Government Ethics chief quit in disgust over Trump’s blatant violation of ethics. He profits from going to visit his properties to play golf almost every weekend. He still refuses to divest himself from all his business interests unlike all other former presidents. He has filled the swamp with ethically challenged billionaires. He LIES daily. He is a sick dictator in the making. Sirisena is not like that; even MR was better than Trump. He sells his own products even during Hurricanes. This man has no decency and no interest other than his own empire of real estate. So do not blame Sirisena for having his brother Dudley make money and his son and daughter with him. Ivanka does far worse

  • 6
    3

Daddy, can I go with you?”
That’s the question President Trump says his 35-year-old daughter, Ivanka, posed to him before his trip this week to North Dakota, where he talked to a crowd about tax reform. “Yes,” he says he told her, “you can.”
With that introduction, little Ivanka took the stage.
Among the many confounding aspects of the Trump presidency has been the role of Ivanka, his elder, and clearly favored, daughter. (When’s the last time you heard him talk about Tiffany, his daughter with ex-wife Marla Maples, never mind trot her out before a crowd of voters?) Ivanka and her husband are official White House advisors — and two of the President’s closest. Question is is there an incestuous relationship?

    Ramzy,
Why the media was not doing the right things ( catching the theiefs and their God fathers ) between 2010 and 2015 ?

What happens if the old regime replaces the current regime before the latters 5 yr term is over ?

It looks like media wants the old regime to come back.happe. Media is not interested in bringing new bloods in to the SL politics.

Will the media fully support the president to punish the previous regime main players who were corrupt and did criminal activities, as soon as possible. At the same time can the media support the President to punish thos3 who are part of the current regime, corrupted and made criminal acts.

We all know jolly well how JARAPASSA wasted state wealth on Bell Pottinger on divide and Rule propaganda.
The Propaganda to deny all the atrocities committed in Srilanka by the Jarapassas against the MINORITIES during , before and after the war to the world.
The South African government has kicked out Bell Pottinger for meddling with inside politics .

During the Jarapassa time again the wining ,dining luxury holidays galore all for free on state money, tax payers money wasted on foreign low grade political minions .
Millions of Ruppees were spent on the foreign Minions ,
One such person is hauled in front of Parliament Standards Committee in UK for not Declaring 2 such luxury holidays to Srilanka in 2013 and not declaring which is an OFFENCE.
This Poor third world country depends on FOREIGN AID TO FEED THE INHABITANTS of Srilankan Poor are such a show off spending lavishly on these Minions.
Just because Jarapassa family is blessed with all the ill fated luxury , the poor man and woman of Srilanka had to go without a square meal sometime.
This Minion is denying the trips , he has sent a photo on Twitter with the SLankan HCommissioner in UK to prove every thing is hunky dory now between the past crooked government and the Yahapalanaya . How Clever Is that ?? ,
I think it’s either Malicious to send the photo on Twitter saying he was discussing Brexit Business or the HC of SL is WHITEWASHING this politician’s Lie??? Whitewashing Jarapassa’s crime and Fraud???
Non declaration of funds and hols ect totalling more than 300 GBP by Politicians seem to be an offence in the UK.
Something Srilankan Politicians need to practice too.
Our country Is a third world poor country! We can only survive on world Aid ,
Showing off to First World countries is Pathetic surely !! So are the Parasites who lead to believe all fine in our Apeh Srilanka should take note before they’re DUPED BY OUR OVER ADVENTUROUS GREEDY POLITICIANS.
These Foreign all spent luxury paid holiday making First world country Politicians should know before they jump into pitfalls Of Foreign Greedy Dictators!! Like the past Srilankan leader.
    Please take note.!!
OUR COUNTRY IS IN POVERTY ! It’s a POOR country.
Our Politicians are suffering with ” Delusions of Grandeur”

As you say spending 300 UK Pounds without declaring is an offence in UK,rightfully and being the Miracle of Asia there is an exemption for politicians and crooks in the island.
We need the British Colonials back and these sudden disasters due to global warming will give them a moral might and right to intervene in the third world and we welcome them became severe droughts in the poor miss manged third world is causing havoc in the first world with storms and heavy rains. It’s a blessing in disguise for the suffering poor in the world..

Another scamming slippery eel with a formed tongue! So what is the explanation for this brute of a son getting hold of darling ammi’s confidential COPE reports? No doubt the “paratti” gave it to her “podiyan” to handover to his mate and financier of her household and election funds, and no doubt foreign bank accounts and holidays. Personally I blame RW, our stupid PM, for employing deceitful conmen and women like RK and RS for employing them at all in government business, because by their claiming that they know nothing of what is going on in their households, they have unquestionably displayed a total lack of intelligence and situational awareness, which intelligent managers MUST possess to hold any responsible job, let alone ministerial jobs. They should be fired from their jobs immediately, then charged with corruption and thrown in jail. Such a saga of bloody excuses, what sort of country run by these beggars and scammers calling themselves politicians?

    To old codger!
You know that many who have been worshiping the UNP leader are now mad at the revelations of the Bond Scam. I’m not surprised when you (Old Codger) come to the rescue of the grand ‘old’ party and try in vain to point out a mathematical error here. You are dead wrong and CT is also wrong to some extent since 40 billion is an underestimation!
A simple example is the fact that we all in Sri Lanka have to pay a high interest rate for every single cent we borrow during the 30 year period to come, thank to Bond Scam engineered by UNP hierarchy. That’s in addition to the 12.5 billion that was a direct loss to CB and EPF. Imagine when a 20 million citizens’ day to day work involving millions of monetary transactions for over 30 year period! How much do you think it would be? That’s the indirect loss that cannot be figured out easily!
Rosy Senanayake may be lily-white on her figure and that’s where foolish UNPers get mesmerized and fooled. I don’t think any of the UNP politicians from Colombo are honest; they are Sri Lankans by name only. By action they are all slaves of the so-called international mafia. How does RosyS, rejected by voters in 2015, have an office at Temple Trees; RaviK even after his ouster from the Cabinet is still a virtual minister with an office at TT. Both are buddies of the UNP leader and they are hell-bent to protect him no matter what. All this work in virtual secrecy! This Bond Scam could be their end game. Afterwards, I don’t think people will ever look at the UNP as an honest party even in their fantasy dreams.

It is clear that the media is using her to get their bored readers to pay attention. If you see all items – including this slanted one – it does not give any credence to the real problem of insider trading. The COPE report WAS out a long time ago and the media had clear access to it – it was never a ‘secret document’.

The mention of her son in a third party conversation DOES NOT implicate him nor is it confirmation that he ever considered doing so – so it is clear case of guilty by media. They need to talk about the real issues of insider trading that was discussed.

I believe that RK, this woman, they may be some of the political “bala-sampanna” (strong & empowered) friends providing insider information to the crook Arjuna as recorded in his tele-conversation. They may also represent the outer shell of a nut protecting the “Kernel” at the centre. Leonard, Your guess who this “Kernel” might be is as good as mine. The outer shells the nut could discard, but it would want to protect the soft and vulnerable kernel by all means. Basically these people from old Royalists, sadly the crooked ones, stick together as a gang, supporting the other Royalist Mahendran which might be the kernel of the other nut. As a kid I knew how to get at the “Kottan” kernel from the very hard woody shell: hammer the ridgy edge hard until the shell splits. I hope that the AG will do something similar to these nuts before he gets replaced by either a PM, or President’s directive, passed down via Thalatha. I won’t be surprised if this commission is blocked from passing a judgment on this case through some public political statement similar to the one issued by the President just before FCID enquiries were wound up.

This level of information is indecipherable to the general public, and such comments would seem to be perceived as “disinformation” of the first order.

Accordingly, whatever statements Rosi S makes, leave her open for prosecution under the Common law of this country.

I am sure that there are adequate professional lawyers to pursue this matter,

    Best Regards,

    Darshana W, Ph.D.

Oh dear! Are you saying Nivard Cabral is also involved??

The tragedy is the scamsters taking down copious notes on why and how the bond scam got so messy AND brain-storming on how to avoid implication in the next scam.
Meanwhile the silent majority of Lankans will continue searching for the end of scam-free rainbow.

Arjun Mahendran, son Mahendran, Bond scam, Ravi, MR, Basil, Namal, Cabraal, Sajin are all a tip off the iceberg. The issue is much bigger!

Silly JRJ constitution is full of holes. The level of checks and balances are practically zero. How could JRJ claim he created the independent Executive, Legislative and the Judicial branches when his silly constitution provides the Executive to hire and fire the Ministers ? The Executive would high-jack the independence of the Legislature by turning all MP’s to Ministers.

Remember the parliament carries the power of the purse !

Added to that is the issue that the party leader decides who runs from his party next. So if the party leader ( who might be President) and his family rob the nation, no body would dare criticize him so that his future in the party is gone, He will be branded a pariah. He will never get nomination to run for any office. So essentially, everybody keeps quiet and suck up the the leader.

SL should elect the candidates for elected office, through a secret balloted Primaries like in USA. So any decent citizen of any class or creed can become a candidate and does not have to be sucking up-to the leadership.

Our constitution should provide for Citizens initiatives at the ballot to make into law the corrupt bunch of MP’s will never do.

I can go on and on about the stupidity of JRJ 1978 constitution… Boy or boy, when are we going to fix this fundamental issue of getting a sensible constitution?

Until till the day light robbery of our poor nation will continue. We will be developing ( so called ) our country on a Bank of China credit card at 10% interest when the going rate across the world is 1%.

…A country like no other !!!!

You put your finger on the real fault. Good one Asoka. JR created a system that gave him power. Like all, he thought he will go on forever. He was a charlatan but those who came after him were greater charlatans. They milked the country, Chandrika, Mahinda, his brothers and progeny and now the present lot.
Why have special commissions at public cost? if the pickpocket has to go to the criminal courts for stealing a purse with hundred rupees, why not these crooks who have stolen so much more from the poor of our poor nation? Please send them to the courts to be tried by the ordinary courts rather than have fancy lawyers like Marapones defend them and get them out at commissions. At least, the police would have made a record of investigations and the magistrate would have given a considered verdict as at a criminal trial. Let us not have a whitewash.

When rosy was leaking what was the other COPE members including sunil handunettige doing?Did they try to plug the leak?If so was the leak too big for them to stop?then they should have called for backup to stop the leak.Surely they must have been aware she was leaking. It would have been highly unusual while sitting there with her for them to not know that she was leaking.

      Percy.
      Thanks.
Sirisena is the architect of this sorry saga and the real traitor. He is at the centre of this conspiracy. He is so adept at manipulative , systematic schemes that he has so far succeeded in placating the gullible innocent hapless villagers in his whiter than white robes and at the same time allowing a free hand for the Colombo seven rogues who have both their feet in the colonial , now called neoliberal west. What a rogue and charlatan this ma Sirisena is.
Of course, we all knew that Ranil, Ravi, Malik , Charitha Ratwatte, Paskaraingam(- now living in London) have ben born in Colombo seven, were educated in Colombo seven, hope to die in Colombo seven, want to educate their children in London ‘Seven’.
What is inexplicable is how Gamaralage MaithrepalaSirisena (who cannot joint two words in English, has failed his GCSE in English, who has no higher education, either in English or Sinhala), then Champika Ranawaka, Ratana, Sobitha ( who openly despised the Colombo seven elite), disguised in white attire or yellow robes, cunningly portraying themselves as patriots,; Anura Dissanayake and the JVP as the representative of the oppressed working class of the Sinhalese, along with life long- corrupt and unprincipled politicians like Rajitha and S B Dissanayaka joined hands with the Colombo Seven elitist clique to take this country back to the dark ages of subjugation by western colonial-now neoliberal- forces all grouped together in aiding and abetting this heinous crime against this country called Lankawa.
Gamaralage Sirisena is the wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is the traitor -in chief against our motherland.
It is sad to see the Buddhist prelates and the sycophants giving him succour .
