Cabinet Reshuffle Stands, UNP Backbenchers’ Concerns On Back-Burner

The cabinet re-shuffle is a done deal and although certain UNP backbenchers had objected to some of the appointments it is unlikely that party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will take up the issue with President Sirisena, sources close to the Prime Minister told Colombo Telegraph.

Immediately after the deputy and state ministers were sworn in, it was reported that Wickremesinghe would convey to the President the misgivings of a group of UNP backbenchers.

It was reported that the aggrieved had been especially critical of Syed Ali Zahir Moulana’s appointment as the Deputy Minister of National Integration Reconciliation and Official Languages.

‘It’s all done and the only thing to discuss is the assignment of subjects and institutions to ministries, which will happen shortly,’ sources added.

One thought that Ministers are chosen to take charge of portfolios. We have it the other way round ~ “……It’s all done and the only thing to discuss is the assignment of subjects and institutions to ministries……….”. Is this the so-called ‘scientific’ method?

Oe argument ministers are given the portfolios they do not know anything about. Remember, In sri lanka ministers are specialists and experts in the subject. Even during the PRevious govt ministers were appointed that way. So, only ones close associates and reliable people are laways win and all other losers. Another poont is there is a Muslim Politician for Anuradhapura or Rajarata. would he ever repair a temple in that area instead buildign a mosque on top of that. I heard one such muslim in Rajarata is from Pohottuwa.

SB dissanayake has so many accusations. Since CBK’s govt. It is known that his name is in the Panama Papers. We here Sampath Bank (may be former rural banks) was under him and it may be bankrupt and thr givt is taking it under CB which is the correct thing to do. SB dissanayake he says he fights it tooth and nail. While the govt says the election times is coming near, SB may empty the bank, that is why they are taking it over (I think the minister is not at fault when he is the Ex-minister and what has happened inside the ministry was wrong.

      KASmaalam K A Sumanasekera

You seem very interested in building Buddha Vihares all over North East. According to India Today Pakistani Government unveiled a 1700 years old Buddha statue last November.

I think you should send in your “brave” war criminals to unearth such statues all over Pakistan, build VIhares and protect them and teach the Pakistani war criminals how to build Vihares over mass grave pits.

I know what you are thinking.
You are thinking how to steal the statute, smuggle it out of Pakistan undetected, find a wealthy collector who has the want and the ability to pay for stolen goods. Good luck.

Hope you will appreciate my free advice.
