Call On Malaysian Prime Minister To Skip The CHOGM 2013

By M. Kula Segaran

M. Kula Segaran MP -Malaysia

Last year end the Malaysian Government organised the 8th World Islamic Economic Forum in Johore. A total of 2100 delegates from 86 countries participated and today we are told that to hold this conference Malaysia spent over RM 9 million for the three days event.

Thus the debate today is for the approval of the monies which were spent last year but which had not been budgeted for!!

The organisers had been gravely wrong when they had initially invited the President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapakesha to the Conference. After fierce objections by many civil society organizations, the organizers relented and wanted to extend invitation to the ex President of Sri Lanka Chandrika Bandaranike. This was also shot down.

In the first palace, the two Sri Lankan leaders are known worldwide for having committed alleged war crimes and they should not have been invited.

Malaysia is a member of Human Rights Council (HRC) of the United Nations. In the last two voting on the resolution against Sri Lanka’s war crimes, Malaysia abstained from voting.

We congratulate Malaysia for respecting the wishes of Malaysians for not supporting Sri Lanka, as Malaysia has taken note of the gross violation of human rights and the commission of war crimes.

The HRC resolution calls for independent international investigation by allowing the framework for UN agencies to gain access into Sri Lanka to assess and monitor the promotion and protection of human rights.

Time magazine July 1 issue states “This year in Sri Lanka, Buddhists nationalist groups with links to high ranking officialdom have gained prominence, and monks have helped orchestrate destruction of Muslim and Christian property,” (page 16).

Malaysia needs to be sensitive and responsible. The present Sri Lanka regime is against minority Tamils and minority Muslims. Prime Minister’s attending of CHOGM 2013 (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) will be seen as Malaysia’s support for the leadership of Sri Lanka.

It will be a diplomatic blunder for Najib to step on to Sri Lanka which is governed by a war criminal and an enemy of Islam.

Prime Minister should skip the CHOGM meeting which is going to take place on the 15th to 17th November2013. Further, Malaysia must ask other countries to suspend Sri Lanka from the commonwealth.

What about the allegations Tamils made in the late 80s and early 90s that IPKF soldiers had raped and killed so many Tamil women.

That is one reason as to why we need an independent credible investigation to record all war crimes and crime against humanity perpetrated since 5th April 1971.

I am sure Manisekaran Thangavelu certainly would agree with me.

His leader Karunanithy condemned all IPKF atrocities on record.

Have you forgotten rape and murder of many Tamils by her security force during her regime.

How about cover up mass graves found in Chemmani in Jaffna?

      Convenient amnesia?

Thank you Mr Kula Segaran, MP for bringing the plight of Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka in the Malaysian parliament. I hope KL gives permission to screen the planned No Fire Zone movie.

We need to take a concerted effort to expose the true face of Sri Lanka, tearing down its democratic mask.

It’s a full fledged fascist regime.

      Malaysia is for Bumiputera.

“If one of the parents is Muslim Malay as stated in Article 160 (2) Federal Constitution of Malaysia; thus the child is considered as a Bumiputra”

      Sri Lanka is for Sinhala/Buddhists.

      So they say.

In fact we are the Bumiputeras of this Island.

We do not enjoy “”special position”

Don’t expect any sympathy from majoritarian Bumiputeras.

        Native Vedda,

You are not totally correct about Bumiputra policy in Malaysia. The Orang Asli (who are the aboriginal people who lived before Malays arrived before millenia, and who are animist) and the people of Sarawak and Saba who are not Muslim, (animist or Christian) are also considered bumiputras according to Malaysian constitution.

My elders are aware of these facts.

“the people of Sarawak and Saba who are not Muslim, (animist or Christian) are also considered bumiputras according to Malaysian constitution.”

Are they being treated as bumiputras?

Hey Vedda, Without talking rubbish tell us which article of Sri Lanka Constitution puts ‘Sinhala/Buddhists’ in a privileged position?

Which rock edit or history book says that Vedda is the Bumiputeras of Sri Lanka?

Yes, very correct perspective to have taken by Mr. M. Kula Segaran, an MP. This type of human right activist are going a great service for the general masses of Sri Lanka by revealing the true face of the Rajapaksha despotic regime thereby helping to eradicate this despotic regime.

Malaysia and other Commonwealth countries should boycott CHOGM held in Sri Lanka as long as harassments and racial attacks against minorities continue unabated in this country. So far the government has not taken any step to stop extremists from attacking mosques, churches or temples, or arrested a single person despite clear video evidence available to them.

A distortionist’s view. Muslims were driven out of North by Tamils and not by Rajapakse or the Sri Lankan army. The conflict was srated by Tamil terrorists. Innocent Sinhalese (and Tamils) were massacred by Tamil terrorists. Malaysian authorities know those facts, and also they know Rajapakse had to do what he did to save the country from terrorists. If Malaysia boycotted CHOGM, it will tie their hands if terrorist gruops play havok in Malaysia. Malaysia will attend CHOGM, and will not be hoodwinked by a bunch of hoodlums.

lal, who is vandalizing the Muslim’s Mosques and burning meat stalls from where Muslims buy meat in the very recent past? Is this the work of some kind of a Grease Yakka or are the Rajapakshas behind this? Rajapakshas saved the country?!!!!? OMG! Then why UN resolutions? Why war crimes films being show all over the world? Why do they make so much fuss about holding Commonwealth Meeting here? Why are the country and the Rajapakshas being lectured by everybody in the world what to do and what not to do?

      Sumith,
Whoever is vandalising Mosques and Temples are sub humans. I do not think President Rajapakse is behind these attacks. Certainly, there are organised groups behind these attacks and one cannot rule out groups opposed to Rajapakse being the culprits. The motive being to discredit him. Yet, these incidents are not in the scale of killing en mass that went on pre May 2009, bombings, shootings, suicide attacks etc. Post 2009, killings are far fewer. UN resolutions mean nothing, as it is a tool of the West, UN does nothing for Palestinians, Iraqis, Afghans when they are bombed, shelled and deprived of basic rights by US, UK and their agents. The sad story of Tamils in Sri Lanka is due to Tamil hatred for the Sinhala people, the hatred nurtured by Chelva, Ponna, Sunda. Just look around and listen to activists of Tamil organisation in UK, Canada. Malaysians fully understand the problem.

Had Sri Lanka emulated Malaysia’s Bumiputra doctrine to control people like this MP Kula Segaran, who is shamelessly fabricating stories against Sri Lanka for rescuing the country from the most brutal Tiger terrorists, Sri Lanka may have prevented the Malaysian Tamil racist Chelvanayakam from migrating to Sri Lanka to initiate the conflict that ended with the defeat of Prapakaran’s terrorist forces.

      Concerned Citizen

Sri Lanka itself is a fiction therefore no need for further fabrication by Kula Segaran.

Had Sri Lanka recognised its diversity early on in its nation buildin process emulating Singapore, the Sri Lankan state would not have manufactured Prapakaran’s terrorist forces.

Had Sri Lanka empowered its people there would not have been Wijeyweera’s JVP terrorist forces, and terrorist Weerawansa would not have been a pistol wielding active member. JVP terrorists was also a product of an undemocratic state.

Your concern is rather skewed therefore you are not a responsible citizen.
