Very good initiative. But what is done by BBS is in the name of Buddhism. I hope this conference deals with religious( irreligious ) problems we face in this currently rather than talk on issues as if they were in the air. If this conference can deal with what BBS and the like has done in this country in the name of Buddhism and how can we address these issues. Otherwise this seminar would be a talk shop. Today there is trouble in Mahiyangana and people could not say their prayers. Last week it was the Grandpass mosque. This seminar must formulate a work plan to stop this religious hatred that is being spread across the country.

In here the religion means Christianity.
Religion is when ALMIGHTY involves. Any theistic religions has not good to the world except bringing mayhem to the world.
They brought numerous Crusades and conquests to the world and even right now there is a COLD war between ISlam and the majority Christian culture.

Isn’t it a reality Jim Not so Softly, that these theistic religions are here to stay? Ans isn’t it also the stark reality that Buddhism is no more a philosophy, and that it has been transformed into a religion?
For you may romanticize Sinhala Buddhism as a philosophy, but to many that may not be the case. hence we have four religions practiced in this country!
So how do you propose reconcile?

Problems in the middle east are too because of Judaism and Islam.

This looks more than suspiciously like the “usual suspects” including that intellectual and moral fraud Rohan Gunaratna.
Come on folks, hasn’t the Sri Lanka government already hired some second-rate PR firm to do this kind of thing in the US and UK? Do you have to waste our time with your (local) version in Sri Lanka when you have Rupavahini and ITN, Derana and other TV station doing it round the clock?
