The Constitutional Council today recommended Senior Solicitor General Jayantha Jayasuriya to be appointed as the Attorney General.

Jayantha Jayasuriya

The recommendation comes amidst allegations by the Joint Opposition that the government was attempting to bypass procedure in appointing an Attorney General.

However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that only the President could nominate an individual to the post.

Jayantha – wake up man, let alone today.

Bottom line is regardless of the status, each citizen of country should be entitled to investigations.

Instead of answering correctly, prevarications cant bring us forwad ? Are u that illiterate to get it man ?

Do they have any evidence to prove where the 2.3 million us dollars came from to invest in CSN ?

Do you have answers, if this was raised to any other presidents or YOUR BELOVED MR – they should focus the question or not ?

Are kirimati filled in your brain ?

Gone are the days, we gave time to fools, now on, things seem to move forward for the law and order (at least to some tangible levels).

why should Suhada Gmalath be appointed ?

what matters is not the person – so long the appointed is also an appropriate one.

UN HR Chief’s comments at the press briefing are malicious, unfair and an outright insult to the Srilankan judiciary and the Justice System.

Thank you Dr Peiris for standing up for your country and the your nation.

You could have got the Best and the Biggest Bacon Bone from Batalanada PM, instead of the Ham Hocks which our one time Deshapremi Sinhala Buddhists MPs are chewing merrily, and even boast how good they are.

Can’t wait for the next Election…

      KA Sumanasekera

“UN HR Chief’s comments at the press briefing are malicious, unfair and an outright insult to the Srilankan judiciary and the Justice System.”

Sri Lankan judiciary never had any credibility. Many judgments were clearly biased. the very low caliber of people like Sarath Silva and Mohan Pieris being Chief Justice speaks volumes on the standards of the judiciary in Sri Lanka.

But he wrote the Constitution literally by himself, for Yahapalana PM’s great Uncle.

And it helped to save the Nation from Tamil Terrorism.

Which the Nephew found not acceptable ,

Because this Yahapalanan PM couldn’t give Pirahaparan his Homeland ( ISGA ) .Remember.

Now the Batalanda Ranil, sorry, Yahapalana PM wants to rewrite it to give Suren Surendran the Homeland for Vellala Sambandan to mind it.

Finally a sensible appointment instead of stooges of the previous regime who sit blocking cases. It is stupefying as to why Rajapakshe cronies are allowed to sabotage key departments and institutions with no accountability. Is the minister of Justice an idiot?

Forget the law, whoever, AJ is going to be has to work according to few politician will. If not AJ is in trouble. President may not be calling the AJ’s department, but the hooligans who have taken president hostage, will call and advice the AJ who to prosecute.

Suhada Gamlath is not a Rajapakse crony – that’s a brilliant misconception deliberately created and sustained by Rajitha & Champika for obvious reasons. Suhada is well known in legal circles as a forthright officer whom even the Rajapaksas could not control although he served under the regime as the Secretary to the Justice Ministry. Jayantha on the other hand is the man who called Sajin Vaas sir and acted as an underling of the Rajapaksas. This clearly violates yaha palanaya. The right man for the job is Suhada. This is a drawback for the good governance process.

Congratulations Mr JJ ! I hope that you will ensure a clean and efficient Department and not let political pressures colour your performances or that of those under your control. Your contribution to an effective Judiciary will in no small measure help the Country in it’s drive towards a truer, independent, legal system. The Nation will be watching.

Any person who reads the poetry of Kahlil Gibran and appreciates it, cannot be anyone’s stooge. I am referring to Suhada Gamlath. However, this is not a qualification to be the Attorney General.

    Anon, Sahan,
Pl do not step in to unknown territories. Wjetilake knew no Law. Name a single important case he had fought. Same with Suhada. They knew only to boot lic. Well trained by Mohan P. The manner in which suhada acted in the Avant Guard case is ample demonstration of his dishonesty. He took a common decision with so many to charge every one, and a day after he went back and discharged them from the possession of unlicensed firearms!
Even a scavenger or a boot licker like sumanasekera wouldn’t have done it in the way he did it. So blatant! He (Sumane) would have done it with some finnes.
