Champika Goes Back To Ministry After 119 MPs Reject MR: “I Have Clear Majority” Ranil Tells Gota

JHU Leader and UNP MP Patali Champika Ranawaka went back to his ministry and started work soon after a meeting with the Speaker where 119 MPs rejected Mahinda Rajapaksa’s appointment and called for the immediate convention of Parliament.

Ranawaka visited the Megapolis and Western Development Ministry with JHU Vice Chairman Karunarathna Paranawithana and discharged his duties as the Minister.

He also held a meeting with his officials and instructed them to proceed with the projects that are already underway.

Meanwhile, in an unexpected turn of events, former Secretary to the ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa held a discussion with UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees last evening.

The discussion, according to sources, had centred around the security of Ranil Wickremesinghe and breaking the current political deadlock. Wickremesinghe, during the discussion, had told Rajapaksa that he was confident of a majority support in Parliament and the problem should be resolved in the House.

Tell Gota that the Horu have been identified and caught, and will be kicked out. Better to get out before being kicked out. Tell that to Sirisena, the traitor, Sevalaya, Mala-Perethays and Patholaya as well.

A general election is the way forward as the parliament is a “Cesspit of corruption” and horse trading..
There should be a new election law brought in with an age limit of 68 years for politicians to contest. Time for a new generation to take over and clean up the diyawenna Parliament of corrupt clowns and morons.
Bondscam Ranil and Mahinda Jarapassa, who RW protected these past 3.5 years of Ranil-Sira Jaraplanaya MUST be held accountable for their corruption and crimes against the long suffering people of Lanka and share the same prison cell

A general election can’t be called just because you or anyone else wants one. According to the constitution 4.5 years have to elapse.

A government has to run the term it’s given

This is an out and out illegal power grab ……….a coup.

No amount of claptrap will justify a putsch ………. executed by a clumsy bunch of illiterate imbeciles ……… who cant read a constitution

That is why MR is preparing a Budget. A general election can be called if he is defeated on a Budget vote. He is preparing for victory through defeat.

A budget can’t be introduced by an illegally installed government ……….. I don’t think you have the capacity to understand that.

This is the reason SL in this mess even after 70 years of independence.

Yours is the quintessential/typical Lankan mind-set governed by preconceived prejudice incapable of independent thought ……… the English language skills hint at some education ……… but essentially camouflage a primitive prehistoric mind!

I hope I have made it clear that you and other Lankans of your ilk comprehend

This is about the truth …………and not about some cockamamie geriatric political personalities ………….. who are here today and gone tomorrow :))

A pity that your arrogance and bad manners are on full display here Nimal Fernando. You are the sort of ill-educated fool who fills these columns with his half-witted posturing. Full of sound and fury….signifying nothing, as the bard said.

You are making the assumption that the Government is illegal. You may well be right, but this has yet to be proved in Parliament.

My comment was not in support of MR but merely to explain what I think he is up to. It is difficult to fathom what his Plan B is if he loses a Floor vote in Parliament. Nevertheless, he must have some scheme up his sleeve. It is unthinkable that he would have gone this far, only to back down and accept defeat. He is far too power hungry and ruthless for that.

                Taraki,

As you say ………… after I wrote my comment I realized ……. you might be just trying to explain Mahinda’s motives ……….. So, I apologise for the part in the comment that was directed at you it’s totally unwarranted.

As for my comments ………. anyone can break them down point by point …….. I don’t think it’s difficult ……… that’s the reason I put them out there …… to argue out within the bounds of civil discourse.

We are all fools in one way or other …….. life is about learning that ……. some learn in stages, others never :))

“You are making the assumption that the Government is illegal.”

                Taraki,

If it’s not illegal ………. why install the government in secrecy, late in the evening without the knowledge of the citizens ………. when it could have been easily done openly in the parliament? ……….. Then to prorogue the parliament to buy off MPs to cross over to legitimize it ……. in itself shows it’s nothing but a clumsy putsch.

We all know what happened ………and we can go on deceiving ourselves; it’s a free choice ……… but count me out :))

I believe you are not born this morning.
This crook was the Minister of Finance from 23 November 2005 to 9 January 2015.
There were more than two consecutive years he didn’t submit budget.
That should tell you something about him, his cronies, and supporters.

He and his clan should be kept outside the domain of finance.

If his supporters are naive enough to believe in democratic process of this island, they have indeed far removed themselves from past history of this island. The reasons as to why the crook and his clan are being supported by a section of the voters and the elite are that he presided the armed forces while they committed large scale atrocities against Tamils, a good lesson the Tamils never forget, and already become part of Mahavamsa. The second reason is that a minority benefited during MR’s misrule.

If you are a MR supporter I have no issue with you.
However the issues become contentious when you pretend to defend democracy, freedom, liberty, the war, and the absence of war, war crimes, ….

          A conditional coup.

This is example it what will happened to a poor peoples party like unp or JVP has formed a government against a ultra capitalist business party like slfp. They business dictators party slfp has toppled the poor peoples & labours party unp government with in 3.5 years. The business class of srilanka which is the monopoly of slfp now showing the world only under slfp government they will invest.this is a clear message to the world see the stock exchange performance with in 72 ours Mahinda become the president.the 85% of Sinhalese middle class and upper middle class are very much happy about their party slfps performance . see tax reduction given by the mahindas slfp government to their own business class. What ever happens to the democracy they love Mahinda for his economic performance. This is a bitter truth . then crying fowl or writing comments against rajapaksas by small group of unp people will not worth since this is the destiny of poor party like unp when they are trying to form a government against a power full business capitalist party like slfp. You see is their a police constable is respecting unp. This we called capitalist rule of slfp.

Before the General Election, President Sirisena should go and give a way for a new President. President Sirisena has done a good thing to this country by exposing that both Mahinda and Himself are enemies democracy, rule of law and justic and these two are power greedy and will sell our nation for power. People have fully changed after this move and Sirisena & Mahinda ditched themselves. Thieves will be caught and punished oneday by God and People have the opportunity to send them together out of our world.

Once they are defeated, they should all be jailed.

Mahinda Rajapakshe + all cabinent Ministers should be jailed for ever.

We need the support from entire world to stand against these men.

World should see int big picture. The harm Rajaakshe men have been doing to this nation for last 7 days is growing as people cant concentrate themselves on their day today life.
Just because their power greediness, why should us the general public suffer this much ?

We have to rally round to PUT these men in Jail.
I suggest CHAMPIKA to take the lead.

They dont deserve normal values. These men are high criminals The deserve to be jailed forever.

Is this the first step by Champika towards Dr Mahinda?
Do you know the latest market price of horses, Rs 500 million and a ministerial portfolio?
I think the horses are being over or under valued.

    Where is Navin Nayakka?

    Dear Champika,

I know you from your u’grad first year days, and you were always an extreme character. You challenged the lecturers, the Faculty of Engineering , and even the University when a blockage was organized to not allow the entrance of the government officials to open the Civil Engineering complex.

In the late 80’s you worked with Prof Nalin De Silva, and the followers in promoting the “Jathika Chinthanaya” which was the forerunner t the JHU.

During the July 89 JVP riots, you spoke of the JVP elements @ the University , but never let go of your Marxist ideologies that you upheld u til then. You never shred a tear when our dear brother Clifford died during the protests. I was his roommate @ the hostel.

Your political uprising has been a trail of betrayal and change of loyalties, to such an extent that most of us have lost faith in you.

Champika: Please do adhere to a focused political doctrine, rather than shifting between less ideologist political parities, and may be we will support you then.

Else you are nothing BUT a cheap pawn in the game of a political chess game, subject to many possible moves as mastered by the “players”.
Just to re-emphasize, JUST a pawn ONLY, and not any major player.

“Your political uprising has been a trail of betrayal and change of loyalties, to such an extent that most of us have lost faith in you.”

      Champika is a politician.
What else do you expect from a public racist?
And an incompetent minister, look at the state of Lakvijaya Power Station?

Marxism, Racism, …. patriotism are masks these shameless corrupt politicians use to promote their own interest, cover up corruptions, mistakes, incompetency, ….. nepotism, ………………..

It seem it was your naivety that made you trust these crooks.

        Dear NV,
I never said i trusted these crooks. Champika was/is an excellent orator and he also has other strengths.
He was trained to be an Electrical Engineer for five years @ the University of Moratuwa, but unfortunately he never practiced his profession.

The “Lakvijaya” or the Norocholai Power Station was a bad design in the first place. What should have been done was to install three (or six) modular power plants of 150 MW each instead of the 2 x 300 MW configuration. even for break down maintenance.
The design engineers of the Lakvijaya ( I do not want to highlight them though I know them by name) were @ fault for developing a a unsustainable design due to political influence/ kick backs in kind that they received

“I never said i trusted these crooks. Champika was/is an excellent orator and he also has other strengths.”

Probably for racists/bigots he is an excellent orator not for any right thinking people. Politicians are born liar. Champika is a special case. In Paris he lectured that Sinhala Language was much older than Hebrew and Sinhalese discovered Zero. That says lot about the liar. Thats also saying a lot about the audience. He can be an orator among those willing to hear what they want to hear.

Don’t forget Champika the public racist was involved in Lakvijaya Power Station project from start to finish. Being an electrical engineer he should have known what’s wrong with the project from the beginning. He was not interested in efficient implementation of the project however he was only interested in and concerned about how much rights the minorities are going to gain from normal political process.

        Dear Native Vedda,

Whilst the mere phonetic resonance your pseudonym creates a cognitive image of an intrinsic individual with a laggard attitude, I still would like to respond to your response as follows:

        1. I’ve associated with Champika for far too long to be be left with a single orientation of his vision and approach.

        2. He has a very high IQ ( he obtained 4 As in his GCE A/Ls) and thus processes a forward thinking mind than most of the other politicians of this age and time.

        3. He is relatively young as a senior politician ( Assume he just turned 52 in Jan-2018)
        4. Although he practiced an an Engineer, he should still have the scientific, mathematical and analytical skills he learnt and be able to apply these principles in any decision making process.

          Dharshana W

          1. How unfortunate you are, please accept my sympathies.

          2. Academic qualifications nor IQ don’t make a person wise.

          3. Being a senior politician does not make him a wise one. He is where he is now simply because he is a practicing public racist and a bigot.

          4. Basically he had proved himself being a failed engineer, politician, a human being, ……………… and void of principles, what good have his skills contributed to his quality of work and benefit to the people? Don’t forget this shameless politician spent many years with crooks, criminals, war criminals, ………….. and jumped ships at the last moment.

          5. This shameless politician recently visited UK his colonial masters and met with Lord Nasby, whose support he sought to defend the war criminals in the international forums. What a pathetic man he is.

        NV,
I’ve known Champion way before he became a politician, let along an icon. He was a humble (yet a 6′ 2 inch) person. Despite till height, he never did any sport @ the University of Moratuwa, whereas I won four University Colors/ one National Colors in Sports whilst going through University.
In contrast, Champika could have easily won Inter-University Colors in wrestling ( purely due to his height and weight) , had he entered the competition.

I know Champika since before his political era, and he was a genuine person then, but was a changed person AFTER getting into full time politics.

My naivety ( as you mention it) may be due to me knowing Champika for the first time as a young brat of 18+ years , and then associated with him for over five years as a close associate and friend during our first degree years.
I still believe that Champika R is a rational person with an exceptional mind, who can achieve many strides politically or otherwise.

We are a democracy, and we have a constitution, and rule of law. If our shameless leaders are so power hungry, and do not have the decency to respect our constitution and rule of law, they DO NOT DESERVE to lead this country. We do not want dictators who take the law into their filthy hands.

Rajapaksa should take his bags and go back to Hambantota, and retire with all his money. This has been a good lesson for him, and he should stop ANY political ambitions. Leave the governing to those elected to do so.
Ranil W. should also get his act together, and make sure the people are taken care of.

all these and I won’t believe until the last minute that Ranil is not part

No. Matter what we can be proud that our people remained calm and well behaved, this will place the nation in a good stance among the international community..

I do not know why Mr. Mahinda ever.
. Agreed to this appointment, some or other what I see is taking into consideration his age and some slips of the past, I see a man sincerely and desperately trying to do whatever he can for the country and people whom. He feels he neglected we really do not know why the rush, hardly saw any of his family rallying much around him.

But what is miserable is to see the touts around him trying to profit on the situation..

Ranawska played smart, while Arjuna played into the game plan.

Still I am of the stance even if Ranil is reappointed, he needs to step down and handover the mantle to Sajith. (If he has any wisdom left in. Him) and sack Malik.

The world trend will be young leaders and Ranil needs to understand this.
Canada, Australia, Italy France, Greece, Pakistan all. Have young leaders and I won’t be surprised if Rahul becomes the next PM of India.

The vast majority of the present day ‘politicians’ have proven beyond any doubt, they are
there not to ‘serve and protect’. They are a bunch of shameless, blatant daylight robbers, working to advance their own ends, with endless greed for money, position, power and a scant regard for the most basic norms of human decency. Their actions are inflicting a heavy price on the poor masses who elected them.

How long more can the country endure this ?

Sri Lanka needs a totally new ‘political framework’ if it is to ever emerge out of the ever worsening political mess.

Looks like “Gods” are the only hope, for now, for saving Sri Lanka … !

But have they really come together???

It is questionable, when the MPS meeting with The speaker were asked if they supported JVP’s stance, it was clearly visible out of the 119 only about 40 to 60 raised their hands in favor.
And MP mujibul Rahman was struggling to answer or provide proof of 119 members, when will we see a political party or parties that will stop feeding us grass and respect the people, the entire population has been taken first arise time and again by politicians.

The sad part is we the people know very well that politicians have never respected the peoples mandate, most of them. Openly abuse it to crossover for their interests and benefits & not for the people, but yet we the people can not demand for a constitution that will protect the mandate.

So if we are willing giving them the
that right to abuse the mandate we should not complain either.

If the horse trading price of $°2. Million dollars is true, no way Mr Ranil or anyone can stop the crossover, why should they refuse such a huge sum? Most of the politicians go to. Parliament only to. Make money, if they can make the money which would require them at least 5 to 10 years in day and with it a Minister’s post why not?

But I refuse to believe it. Of cause there had to be a price when. you engage in
    Horse trading,

It can not be more than 100 to 200 laks.

People need to prepare for general election anytime soon and at least this time use their franchise wisely as it may be the most crucial election of all times.

People need to demand a new constitution protecting the mandate before going to the polls.

    .

IT was very important that Chmpika Ranawaka publish that for him everything was as usual eventhough some wanted an Arab Spring in Srilanka Because the ambassadors from Most poor country of the west leading and most democratic and human right respecting countries showed their strength with the UNP speaker to say that we are ready to send the PEACE KEEPING forces to Sri lanka to keep the country peaceful. Ranil is a Big time loser who wants to be the PRwesident at any cost. We need to see how other UNP ministers and MP wioll be doing. Are they for a ARAB SPRING or not. Ranil waits for the arab spring in order to make him the PResident.

Rajapakse and Sirisena have bought votes of votes, allegedly at 500 million a piece. What of the morality of these two men as well as the morality of the men who have been bought over. In another country, they will not be able to face the public. It is not that the morality of Ranil W. is any better. He carries the bond scam on his shoulder. He will be dealt with by the people in a democratic manner. It is not for Sirisena and Rajapakse to hijack that process. Sure, there was a need to accelerate the election so that Ranil W would face the people sooner. But, this is not the way to do it. Sirisena has to face the music. After he relinquishes office, the question would arise whether he is responsible for extraconstitutional conduct. He would not be immune from such a charge.
