With the degree of surveillance on the Channel 4 team so high, local journalists and people are unlikely to engage with the broadcasting team and they are unlikely to be able to travel freely to other areas of the country without endangering the people they speak to on their travels. Today Channel 4’s Jonathan Miller managed to film and talk Sri Lanka’s secret police who followed them.

Cameron’s body language says it all. Doesn’t it.
Any body who watches Aljezera can see what this Cameron has done to the once peaceful Syrians,
And it is 2 Million of them, not counting the thousands killed by fellow Muslims who are given weapons and paid to fight.
Our inhabitants have been spared of that sort of misery since Nanthikadal thankfully, to the steadfastness of the President.
It must be hurting for Camerons to see how well our inhabitants are doing after the destruction, they supported for three decades.

Channel 4 investigate this Mahinda Chithana plan. It shows the best areas of Sri Lanka the hill country and the coast being designated sensitive and people being moved out. I am sure it will mean Muslims, Estate Tamils and poor Sinhala being forced to leave and land being given to Rajapaksha family and friends for tourist developments. This type of evacuation has been done on a small scale when homeless people were chased out of Colombo before the Bollywood awards some years back and some were killed when they did not leave. http://www.acesl.org/download/conference/tp_Lakshman%20Jayasekera%20and%20Veranjan%20Kurukulasuriya.pdf

How are we to know who is in the car. Could be anybody.

“How are we to know who is in the car. Could be anybody”
You do your own investigation stupid.
I suspect it was LTTE agents who were making their regular payments to C4 crew in.
/
truth_seeker / November 16, 2013
Secret police in a beat up Nissan Micra. I gather they were not prepared for a high speed chase. All the Tamil tiger scum who question how the protesters knew the wheareabouts of your precious c4 crew just answer this question? How did the benefit scoungering tiger rump know which hotel the president was staying and his movements when he came to address the oxford council especially when it was a private visit? Every time he comes to UK you drag your pathetic looking brood all over the streets of London polluting the whole area with your unpleasant presence. Don’t you bloody idiots realise the people in sri Lanka have the same right to protest and get the information from similar means? Or do you believe protesting is a god given right only to you along with your mythical dreamland?

Vibushana – this is the scenario
you are travelling from Colombo to Kandy.
Half way through your journey the train was stopped.
A taxi driver forcefully put oyu in his taxi and he takes you to Kandy in his Taxi.
The he demnad his fare from you

What is this news? Filming everyone by the security forces is necessary in Sri lanka.
Can you idiots tell why UK has cameras in every 100 yards?
USA has millions of Cameras to film their citizens.
CH4 team was there with criminal intentions. Because their “videos” become laughing materials and defaming Lanka with their cooked up products.
/
Probono Publico / November 17, 2013
aha getting peevish are we mate!
small correction true UK has surveillance cameras all over BUT THERE IS A NOTICE TO THAT EFFECT about the camera in operation (either you dont know or hiding that fact)
they dont go following people in unmarked cars !
/
M.Sivananthan / November 17, 2013
THERE IS A NOTICE TO THAT EFFECT…. Are you joking? I never see any notice saying “There are hidden cameras”. hahahaha
Further the purpose is the same. Security is the sole purpose. Sri lankan style may differ.
In Sri Lanka suspected people will be followed by the security staff.
In UK every one is a “suspect” but Sri lanka dont follow the same ideology!
/
PalmSquirrell / November 17, 2013
UK doesn’t have cameras every 100 yards; that is a gross exageration of the facts. London and some other major cities have CCTV but CCTV is different to individual government personnel photographing government dissidents. Also where is the proof that UK military intelligence is photographing UK civil society?
/
M.Sivananthan / November 19, 2013
Are you a fool? who is using the CCTV footages? Security personals or corner shop keepers?
Dont be a “NONDI” fellow!

//What will make news is if Johnathan Miller actually pay for the van hire.//
They didn’t hire the van, Police arange that to returnt them to Colombo. Then Police has to Pay that. This is the fact.
If Channal4 hire the Van, then they have to pay.

The LTTE was defeated in 2009. Why can not the Sri Lankans live in peace now.
Why we do not have freedom of speech, have judicial supremacy, have an independent Anti- corruption unit,
Have all the politicians declare their wealth,
Have KP, Karuna and Pillaiyan arrested???

Hard truth is some time bitter. Just there is no point blaming Colombo Telegraph for reporting matters as happened. Probably this is the only media that fearlessly report matters that is naturally receive the wrath of Rajapakse regime and all right thinking people should value the role played by Colombo Telegraph from overseas.

No reports about the killings or kidnappings or tortures or jails of LTTE in CT. Why? Fear of LTTE?
/
Maveeran / November 17, 2013
[Edited out] Sinhalese bugger. Stop talking about LTTE you sob. You [Edited out] don’t seem to have the guts to question your government about the killings of Sinhalese in Waleria recently but got the nerve to talk about LTTE. You should be shamed of yourself.
/
M.Sivananthan / November 19, 2013
Did you ever asked LTTE how they kidnapped and killed thousands of Tamils? Dont you know the Thunukkai torture camps where nearly 2000 Tamils were jailed and none of them returned home?
You ask your LTTE rascals how they blewup bus loads of wounded LTTE girls. Some of the dead were my relatives.
You are donkey and think the Tamils cannot question or talk about nasty LTTe criminals. CT must do a probe of LTTE crimes if it is honest!
/
PalmSquirrell / November 18, 2013
Beating a dead horse, because LTTE is long gone and the remaining ones now support Rajapaksa.

Ch.4 established nothing so far. It is making cartoons to defame Sri lanka. That ideology cannot be accepted.
/
Native Vedda / November 17, 2013
M.Sivananthan
“Ch.4 established nothing so far.”
No it hasn’t.
However it has established the reason and need for a proper independent investigation into all war crimes, including your Tamil boy VP’s as well.
“It is making cartoons to defame Sri lanka.”
Sri Lanka doesn’t need others to defame it, in fact it has been doing it splendidly for the past 65 years.
It is fun to watch cartoon.
“That ideology cannot be accepted.”
What is the ideology?

M.Sivananthan / November 19, 2013
Why are you distancing yourself from your beloved Thesiya Thalaivar?
CH.4 did nothing except making some dollars from the LTTE goons in UK.

I am sad I could not meet Charles or Cameron to hand in my request for an apology and compensation for having killed my great grandfather during the British days in Lanka. Of I forgot thats beyond the Channel 4 days and TV so lets not go there! We should be shot for still welcoming these assholes to our country. The commonwealth is the stupidest group of any kind in existence today! Where former slaves gather around to host their former master to tea! Thank you master for killing our forefathers and looting our wealth for centuries! Lets hv a cuppa tea now!

“We should be shot for still welcoming these assholes to our country.”
Good ask Karuna for LTTE surpluses.
Only Ass holes invite their fellow assholes.
“The commonwealth is the stupidest group of any kind in existence today!”
This island fits very well into your description.
“Where former slaves gather around to host their former master to tea!”
You can opt out if you shun glory.
” Thank you master for killing our forefathers and looting our wealth for centuries!”
They killed their subjects, but you stupid people kill your own people.
Regarding compensation for your grandfathers, my elders tell me there is an window of opportunity for you to bring a class action against UK.
However I too want to file class action against Sinhala/Tamil people for genocide of my people over 2500 years.
Will you help me?
/
PalmSquirrell / November 18, 2013
The genocide was from Sinhalese and their founder the Aryan prince Vijaya. I have not read any historical document where Tamils actively destroyed the Veddah community.
/
M.Sivananthan / November 19, 2013
I saw Veddahs in the hamlet of Cheddikulam in the 60s but they vanished in few years of colonization of the area from the Islands of Jaffna.
They came regularly to Vavuniya to sell their pickled deer meat.
In Tamil Nadu the Adivashis( equivalent of Veddas) were tortured, raped and killed by Tamil nadu police and forest rangers.
