CID Arrests Army Personnel Over Keith Noyahr Attack

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today arrested three army personnel including a major over the abduction and attack of Keith Noyahr, the deputy editor of The Nation newspaper in 2008. However, sources pointed out that the main culprit, who orchestrated the attack against Noyahr, continued to remain in the government, serving as a senior minister in the Yahapalanaya government.

Nohayr, was abducted on May 22, 2008 near his residence, when he was returning home after work. He was severely beaten by the abductors and also received injuries to his head.

Noyahr was abducted just days after he wrote an article in the ‘military matters’ column published on May 11, 2008 in The Nation newspaper titled ‘An army is not its commander’s private fiefdom’ which was critical of Fonseka, who was the then Army Commander. Fonseka, now serves as the Cabinet Minister of Regional Development in the coalition government.

Before coming to power, both President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe pledged to bring the culprits to book, including those behind the assaults, abductions and murders of journalists, that occurred during the tenure of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. However, since coming to power, Sirisena has been critical against the arresting and remanding of military personnel behind several of these incidents including the high profile murder case of Lasantha Wickrematunge, the editor of the Sunday Leader.

In October, under pressure from Sirisena, the Mount Lavinia Magistrate released Army Intelligence Officer Premananda Udalagama on bail despite his involvement in Wickrematunge’s assassination.

Since Sirisena’s statement, all army personnel who were linked to various journalists related murders and abductions including the disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda have been released on bail by the courts. (By Munza Mushtaq)

A lot of criminals and killers are at large, in case you are not aware of this.

Yahapalanaya, is a mixed bag, Some Yahapalanaya, God governance, and some Balu Palanaya, Dog Governance.

Who is the President of this Yahapalanaya/Balu Palanaya? A Balla, Dog of the Rajapaksa and cronies, who are still at large?

Do you the dimwit think if your God father remained in the power, anyone would have been arrested ?
You the men that permamently being in the licking modes, do a great threat to current democracy prevailing in this country. Better why not you guys join hand with Medamulan in their toilett cleaning issues… their extrements are overflowing in that area alone.
Just tell us one good project the bugger et al completed to say, admit as bringing profit..
Mattala, Hambantota harbar, Saitem , and Rajaakshe idiotic conference halls, Colombo Theatres… none of them bring any good profits to the country yet, why then the ballige putha was that encouraged to make that high about the projects. Only southern way has been usefu, but the project was started already in the days of CBK… and even the so called R and D projects work even in Kenya to Uganda that way.. that is not a big thing to get more more bonus to Ballige putha .. calling him further as the biggest high man to have done big things to the country.
Yesterday, I happened to read about the Kahawatta multi murder cases… that were never investigated even if the murders from numbers on went up to 18 …
At the time, anyone close to MR regime was arrested, OIC was forced to release them upon thhe political interfererence. Even today, not much is known about the convictions of those murrdered cases in that village. So, alone that should work to curse these men, Rajaakshes are born murderes.. they can make profit only in human slaughtering activities. Not just to North but also south and many other places, they did a greater harm.. to my eye he is lanken idiamin.

GREAT !! Another new mulberry bush for the public to go around. The Lasantha, Ekneliyagoda, Thajudeen, bushes have now lossed their appeal, and the people have shown abject disgust at the
“BS” excuses trotted out by the CID, FCID, IGP, and all the other big “P’s” that were supposed to arrest the murderers post haste. This new bush will also go its merry way and end up in the “dead letter box” like the earlier bushes, with the “P’s” ending up in “shit street” giving new “BS” excuses.

I was never ever a supporter of “white van ” regimes and what they stood for. But at least I KNEW they were a lot to be spurned, and this we did. With this new lot of “leaders”, who most of us voted for, with sincerity, thinking that they would clean the “Augean stable”, and give Sri Lankans’ dignity, we have been led up the garden path, taken to the cleaners, robbed of our beliefs, stabbed in the back, fed with damning lies, and left on the highway to mayhem and disaster, utterly bereft of all hope. In true SL parlance “what to do now”

“Of course! He assaulted himself to get attention and emigrate.”

          You got it about right.

There had been many cases during the reign of Clan and Crooks. Self harm was widespread.

@Words: Of course you do – after all, YOU were the author of the article you quote, weren’t you?!!

But you conveniently left out those who ordered the assault – no big surprise!

This is a Regionally Developing case no? It will be covered up because RW will be threatened by the ego maniac and RW is also afraid of the military

The threatening of high ups is common under GG – MS and RW would have
received the same kind of threats and are giving in to save their lives!
The Forces have probably been assured that Bail is awaiting them.

When is the govt, CID or who ever is in charge of law and order going to grow some balls and go after the people that ordered these soldiers and other law enforcement officers to do cold blooded crimes.

Hmm. Wonder if a certain Highly decorated unprecedented war hero will engineer more assassinations to keep these people quiet about the attack. That “sudden” suicide of a,man who “confessed ” to killing Lasantha was a Red Herring. Will this be covered up to protect the UNP cabinet minister or will there be real rural development about this brutal humiliation meted out to KN?

The army is all powerful and can stage a coup de stat – appears to be the worry of President Sirisena – not withstanding the only Field Marshal anywhere, in his cabinet.
This act of releasing all army men from remand is proof of an army controlled regime.
Sirisena also ignores all what the army is doing in the north and east.

Sirisena has visited abroad and uttered many lies about his administration.

The puppets of the army regime tell lies even in the UNHRC as they too are under threat.

CID: Did you find the decorative tag “War Hero” with them at the time of arrest. If you did, be careful of your future. We are getting ready to plan our transport arrangements in the city, because at any time there could be a “Massive Protest” rally against this arrest of “War Heroes”. The “Joint Venture” (sorry) “Joint Opposition” and the affiliates are already planning this “Massive Protest Rally” in Colombo, the inside sources who wish to remain anonymous revealed. A series of “BODI POOJAS” across the country are also to be held commencing from Abeyaramaya at Narahenpita with the participation of ex Defense Secretary. All are requested attend the “SETH PATHA PINKAMA”; but refrain from bringing “Kiri Bath” (Milk Rice) as that would be a too expensive item these days.

It’s only a matter of time until the President, in his infinite wisdom, authorize the release of these suspects. After all, the presumed instigator is a serving Minister of the current regime. At best, it is these minions who will be sacrificed while the real instigators are very unlikely to face justice.
