Comments On Serial Blasts In Bodh Gaya

By R Hariharan

Col. (retd) R.Hariharan

Here is a summary of answers given to print and electronic media questions on the serial blasts in Bodh Gaya on Sunday July 7, 2013.

What is your take on the serial blasts in Bodh Gaya, although the police seem to have had timely alerts before they occurred?

A series of nine explosions rocked the Maha Bodhi temple complex in Bodh Gaya, the holiest of all Buddhist sites, in the early hours of Sunday (July 7, 2013). Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has confirmed that in all 13 explosive devices were planted in and around the temple complex out of which ten had exploded and the other three were defused.  Undoubtedly, this was a terrorist attack carried out by an organized body of terrorists.

According to the police improvised explosive devices (IED) using 2-kg LPG cylinders filled with ammonium nitrate, Sulphur and Magnesium and sharpnels were used in the explosions. Analogue timers were used to set off the explosion. The number of IEDs planted would indicate more than one person was involved in the attack.

Fortunately, two of the holy sites – the main temple sanctum, and the Bodhi tree area – the seat of Buddha’s enlightenment, suffered only minor damage. The giant statue of Buddha that overlooks the worshippers was unscathed. The ineptitude in planting IEDs in close proximity to each other to explode at different timings rendered some of the timers ineffective and saved a huge disaster.

For once neither political leaders nor the media can fault the intelligence agencies which had warned about Jihadi terrorist threats to Bodh Gaya on three occasions in October 2012, January 2013 and last month. In fact, the IB had warned of possible attack on Bodh Gaya when it named three suspected terrorists when they entered Bihar.

After receiving the latest alert, Bihar police met with the temple management last week and discussed the security arrangements in the temple complex! Despite all this effort, the terrorists have managed to carry out their task.  This showed the gross failure of Bihar police’s security management set up.

The casualness with which the IB alert was treated in Bihar is evident from the explanation given by the state that the temple authorities were managing the security inside the temple and the police were providing protection outside it. And the blasts have exposed the shoddiness of the argument. .

Whatever be the reasons for the failure to prevent the terrorist attack, it once again confirms that our counter terrorism effort continues to be a never ending ‘work in progress’ although five years have passed since the 26/11 Lashkar terrorists struck in Mumbai. It is a national shame.

What were the weaknesses in security management?

Bihar has been the home of some of the notorious Islamist terrorists (according to one report as many as 26 of them belonged to Bihar). Maoist extremism also had been thriving in this state, though Bihar Chief Minister Nitesh Kumar seems to have politically managed to keep it on leash at least for the time being.

In spite of such a background, the Gaya terrorist attack shows the state government had not taken terrorist threat seriously and took timely, informed decisions on preventing it. The state has to plan whatever action was required in advance and the state police has to coordinate and rehearse counter terrorism drills involving all stakeholders – the state and central police and intelligence bodies and civilian security guards. Whatever was done did not stop the terrorists from carrying out their deadly mission.

The fact that terrorists managed to carry 13 IEDs each weighing nearly four Kgs in and around the temple complex with impunity showed utter lack of professionalism and poor training of temple security personnel and the police. The temple security personnel did not know how to use the scanners or CCTV.

The Chief Minister has now asked for the deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for the temple security. However, that is no panacea for preventing future terrorist attacks in the state because the problem is multifaceted. It is the responsibility of the state to provide overall policy guidance and make structural arrangements to facilitate security management. Apparently this is lacking.

On the positive side, there seems to be better sharing of information between state police bodies than before. Similarly the central security and intelligence agencies also appear to be sharing their inputs with state police in time. There is better  coordination with the NSG and NIA to investigate the incident after it occurred. This would help in identifying the group involved in the terror strike. Media management was better and kept the information flow to the public on a regular basis.

Do you see this attack as retaliation for attacks on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar? Or is it a Islamist terrorist backlash to recent escalation in anti-Muslim rhetoric in Myanmar and Sri Lanka by Buddhist activists led by monks?

Taliban extremists’ anti-Buddhist activity has a long history. Even as early as 2001 they destroyed the renowned Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan.  The persecution of Rohingiya Muslims  in Myanmar has a long history and it continues with sporadic attacks on them in Rakhine state. The 2012 anti-Rohingya riots left about 140 killed and rendered 100,000 homeless.

This had kindled worldwide protest among Muslims particularly in Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia. Even in India in Kolkata and Chennai Muslim organizations held protest marches. Last year, some mischievous elements had in fact triggered mass exodus of people from Northeast working in Chennai and Bengaluru by sending text messages threatening to attack them in retaliation for attacks on Rohingyas!

In addition to this, in Myanmar Buddhist activists have been leading sporadic attacks against local non-Rohingya Muslims also. In March 2013, Buddhist activists killed a total 43 people and injured 93 in Meikhtila in Central Myanmar. In all 1227 homes, 77 shops and 37 mosques were destroyed. The riots quickly spread to six other townships in Thayawady district in Bago Region in Lower Myanma and to 11 townships in Mandalay and Pegu divisions, where Muslim neighbourhoods were ransacked. And the army had to be called to restore order rather belatedly.

Monks had been at the forefront of such extremism. Monks like Wirathu, leader of the 969 movement, have been delivering provocative sermons against Muslims. This has caused global concerns; even the last issue of Time magazine featured Wirathu on its cover under the caption ‘Buddhist terrorism’.

Jihadi elements have been using the popular sympathy for the oppressed Muslims among the global Muslm community to spread their influence by holding out terror threats against Buddhists. In Pakistan the god father of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jamaat ud Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed had tweeted on June 14 accusing India of collaborating with Burmese government “wipe out Muslim population of Myanmar.”

He also said it was “an obligation on the whole Muslim Ummah to defend the rights and honour of Rohingya Muslims in Burma” and asked Muslim rulers to “unite and raise their voice for the genocide of muslims in Burma at the security council.”

According to a report in The Express Tribune of Pakistan,Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), popularly known as the Pakistani Taliban, threatened to “attack Burmese interests” if Pakistan did not cut off its diplomatic relations with Myanmar. It threatened to take revenge for the attacks.

Considering these reports and the capability of these terror outfits, it is reasonable to assume Gaya attacks could be part of their retaliation against Buddhists for the Rohingya persecution. However, the process of identifying the perpetrators is going on and it would be too premature to attribute it to any particular terror outfit; but its anti-Indian and anti-Buddhist character is evident.

As far as Sri Lanka is concerned Buddhist activism and vigilantism against Muslims and Christian places worship has been growing for sometime now. Mosques and churches, and even temples have been attacked. The monks have been leading  the campaign against halal slaughtering done by Muslims. They have forced closure of shops selling halal meat. This had created panic and unease among Muslims.

Though the government had been neutral, some of the ruling coalition partners like the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), right wing monks party, had been supporting these campaigns led by vigilante outfits like Ravana Balaya and the Bodu Bala Sena. At times, at the local level officials tend to ignore the violent activity of the lumpen elements of these outfits or take action belatedly.

However, Sri Lanka Muslims as well as most of the Sinhala leaders have been careful not to allow it to become a full blown Muslim-Buddhist confrontation. And the government also appears to be aware of the dangers of such a confrontation which could have its backlash in Gulf countries where Sri Lankan expatriates work in large numbers. However, in the long term, if these vigilante activities are not curbed by the government the situation could get out of control.

I do not believe Sri Lanka situation has anything to do with the IED attacks in Gaya, though LTTE had the dubious distinction of carrying out a terror attack on the Temple of the Tooth at Kandy. Despite all the speeches on Tamil Eelam, at present I do not think there is any Tamil outfit which has either the motivation or capability to carry out an attack on a holy site like Bodh Gaya.

What is your comment on the politicization of the attack on Bodh Gaya that appears to be overtaking security concerns?

In India every issue ends up as a political debate. So it is not surprising that a serious security breach that ended in terrorist attack in Bodh Gaya is also meeting the same fate. The reasons for this are many – inter-party and intra party politics and schism, national versus regional jealousies among political outfits, caste and religious ‘vote bank’ politics and historical prejudices etc.  We do not have national leadership strong enough to focus on our national priorities. I doubt very much whether we can outlive this.

As a result of this all our hallowed national institutions have been corrupted. The unseemly conduct of CBI in naming IB as party in the Ishrat Jahan case is the latest of such dismal episodes. So reports on terrorist activity or suspects do not get the attention they deserve at every level. For example in Kerala, the coalition politics has been leveraged to pamper the minority community and this environment has been cleverly exploited by extremist and divisive elements to increase their clout.

So after every terrorist incident our leaders castigate the ruling party or whitewash their weaknesses. National leaders after Gaya explosions used the same clichés – ‘cowardly act,’ ‘will not tolerate,’ ‘guilty will be punished’ that have been repeated after every acts of terrorism since 26/11 terror attacks. This is symptomatic of our national weakness: inability to think beyond spouting clichés after the incident rather than getting our act together before they take place.

When P Chidambaram took over as Union Home Minister in the wake of 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai he promised to revamp the entire national counter terror effort. He tried to address weaknesses in structural and information sharing systems embedded in the culture of our intelligence agencies and police organizations, particularly at the state level.

The political class has long been accustomed to use the state police to serve their political interest. So it is not surprising Chidambaram’s efforts to professionalise policing and improve the coordination between and among police organizations and intelligence agencies are mired in petty politics and political grandstanding. As we are facing a parliamentary election soon, I do not have much hope of seeing light at the end of the tunnel as it seems unending.

This appears to be a terror attack by the Indian Mujahadee, an Indian Islamist group, in retaliation for attacks against Rohingya or Bengali Muslims in Myanmar (Burma). Myanmar Buddhists of Bengali origin have been attacked in Indonesia for similar reasons by Muslims. The Buddhist Muslim conflict exists not only in Myanmar but in southern Thailand. Much earlier, the Khmer Islam were targets of attack in Cambodia but their population numbers have now diminished considerably. The Sri Lankan case opens another window of Buddhist Muslim conflict after a hiatus of 100 years when the 1915 islandwide Buddhist Muslim riots took place. Borobodur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world had been targeted by Islamists several years ago. The Bamiyan Buddha was demolished as have been several Buddhist monuments in North West Pakistan.

Instead of following in the footsteps of Myanmar, Sri Lanka should forge ties with Her Muslim population which does not seem to have been influenced by the Jihadis as yet. If we want to safeguard Buddhism in Sri Lanka, we should not condone ‘Hatred’ against Muslims, for
“Hatred is never conquered by Hatred” as the Buddha said, so long ago!

But Islam should be criticized in peaceful way. Not suitable for this world.

May be not suitable for you, But over 1.7 billion in the World are followers of Islam and more are joining. The call of Azan, the Islamic call for five-times Prayers, echoes at least once every hour in some part of the world and millions of Muslims join together in Prayer at least every one hour. So understand that Islam is everywhere in the world.

There are only 1.4 billion Muslims in the world, not 1.7 billion. They always exaggerate their numbers.

            Mohamed Marzook,

The numbers do not always deliver the facts. On the contrary the more usually relate to vanity, worthlessness etc. For example, there are only a limited number of “wise” people on the earth and the “ordinary” people number in millions and billions!

but you are an atheist sanjay, how can you be an atheist and believe in the Bhuddha’s teachings.Bhuddha was not an atheist ie-rebirth,nirvana etc.If you consider Bhuddha a fool then don’t you think things like what he said that only love can extinguish hatred is also the delusions of a man who was not living in the real world as you accuse me of too.

Lord Bhuddha was a great man of wisdom. When people were running all over the world in loincloths and behaving little better than the two legged variety, here was a man so perceptive that he would have been the Einstein of the world then.He was far ahead of his time and if he felt that there was no god and it is just dust to dust and ashes to ashes as darwin claims,he would have stated so.He talks of rebirth, nirvana etc because he could see from what was around him that all this was created by a higher being, but he told us instead of praying let us focus more on our inner selves and cleanup ourselves so that we will be ready for the rewards when we meet this higher being one day.

The first statement in Buddhism is “Maha Brahma created this world”. Eventually many references to the Brahma was obliterated to downtrod Buddhism after the demise of Buddha.

            Viagra,
Your pen name says it all:-) In fact the demise of Buddha did quite the opposite of what you think happened because of Brahmins/Hinduism (I have nothing against Hinduism like Buddha did) and that’s how Buddhist scriptures got changed to what you read today. Buddha’s teachings are timeless, evident to be seen here and now, inviting investigation leading to emancipation from suffering, to be comprehended by wise for him or herself privately. It is not to be followed out of respect to or inline with his words, it is not to be talked, but to be practiced, not to be studied for the sake of criticizing others in disputation, and finally Buddha also said the teaching needed for to enlightenment is so little it can be compared to a handful of leaves from a leaves full of forest. This does not mean that knowing that little makes one enlightened, instead he has to live it throughout one’s life. Gods and supernatural stuff did not apply to his teaching. I hope my words will make you do some proper research before you comment about Buddha’s teaching again.

prasanna, you say”Gods and supernatural stuff did not apply to his teaching.”

However the Bhuddha talks of rebirth and nirvana. So he was not an atheist. He believed in god,but i agree with you that the emphasis was on focusing on your inner self, not go all the time and paray to god like the hindu’s do.That is why i believe that bhuddhism and hinduism complement each other like bread and butter,i deeply believe in what the bhuddha said and try to practise though it is very hard to do so,i also go to temple and pray and that is the easy part.Hinduism and bhuddhism are not at all in conflict with each other and a person will be immensely benefited by following both and in the future a new religion called Saivabhuddhist may appear.

“..but you are an atheist sanjay, how can you be an atheist and believe in the Bhuddha’s teachings..”

A human being is not a fixed and permanent entity. He need not be a believer, a follower or an atheist to understand some basic truths about life and relationship. Well done sanjay!

            0

emil.understanding the basic truths is okay, but preaching them on bhuddha’s behalf is not understandable to me,when Sanjay considers Lord Bhuddha as a very wise man on the home truths of human relationship but a complete idiot on the creation of mankind.

You can’t say that the Bhuddha was a very wise man and a complete idiot too. That is my point.Sanjay can always say i have learnt the truths about human relationship not from the Bhuddha’s teachings but from my own experience and intelligence.Instead he is in many comments quoting the Bhuddha and saying he lives according to the Bhuddha’s teachings and is a true bhuddhist.I consider sanjay from my conversations with him as a very intelligent, decent human being and my query was a genuine one as to how he could have such conflicting views.

You can’t have the cake and eat it too.I’am always interested in the atheist point of view, not to put them down, but to use as a starting point in the quest for god and the truth. If we can see why an atheist does not believe in god and start to work from there onwards to prove them wrong, that is much better than blindly following man made religions that talk of god.

I mentioned in my last para”to prove them wrong”.It should be “to see whether they could be wrong”instead.

The suspect of RSS has been arrested what you think about it? And the CBI report in India says all the terrorist attacks which was carried out in India there was an involvement behind by RSS. The RSS and indian RAW will never keep peace in indian ocean. And the media always prepared before any attack to just blame muslims. You have problem india by these two groups. Why don’t you take security measures as you are one of the powerful military country in the world? You have very high intelligence unit call CBI and RAW.

What was the real problem in india to protect from these type of attacks?

Terrorist will never plant 12-13 bombs and no much injuries. they will plant only 1-2 bombs and injury will be huge. Do you use your brain to think something logically?
It was complete mistake of Indian security system….they did not care at all..Because it was not a Hindhu temple…

All the terrorism should be wiped out from the earth……doesn’t matter who are they!! What happening there is the politicians are feeding the terrorist. This was an attack by Muslims against a Buddhist place of worship. The Muslims had similarly attacked Borobodur, Bamiyan and Swat in Pakistan. This is the Indian Mujahadeen. Sahidur Rahman and Saifur Rahman are wanted by the police as they are the two prime suspects in the Bodh Gaya bombing.

Islam is a violent religion. Look at the terrorist attacks by Muslims in Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, Mali, Niger, Chechnya, Somalia, Afghanistan, Lebanon and the list never stops. Islam is backward and self righteous. A few facts are needed here. Four of the five bombs detonated in the world today are by Muslim militants. Koran 49:10 says, The Believers are but a single Brotherhood. Those who reject the word of Allah are described in the Koran as unbelievers and infidels. In fact, Koran devotes 61% of its space to infidels. Koran 7:176-9 dehumanizes non-Muslims as vile Animals. 4:101 says, unbelievers are unto you open enemies. Koran 8:38-9 says; Non-Muslims are to be fought until religion is only for Allah. Likewise, there are as many as 109 verses in the Koran that call Muslims to fight war with non-believers for the sake of Islamic rule and to recruit new followers. No Muslim can avoid “fight in the cause of God” for Koran 3:167 say those Muslims who avoid such fight were hypocrites.

Alan is a Muslim and should convert to Buddhism, the true religion of peace.

The attack on Bodh Gaya should be a warning to India to stop marketing Buddhism and commoditizing religion as “Soft power” to advance Indian aspirations to be the regional superpower!
GOI sent the fake Kapilawasti relics to Lanka to boost ties with Rajapassa who is in fact behind the Saffron Buddhist Terror attacks on Muslims and Christians and Hindus in Lanka.

FInally, Hariharan and GOI should not pretend to believe Rajapassa on his claim that he does not support the Buddhist Saffron Terror in Lanka. Don Stanley,

“GOI sent the fake Kapilawasti relics to Lanka to boost ties with Rajapassa who is in fact behind the Saffron Buddhist Terror attacks on Muslims and Christians and Hindus in Lanka.”

      Well said.

      1. Sinhala Buddhist Mahanama Racists were fighting Hindus and Jains before Islam and Christianity appeared in Lanka.

      2. Lanka was Animist, Jain and Hindu BEFORE Buddhism and the so-called Sinhala were imported.

      3. Lanka was peaceful before Buddhism. Bali Indonesia is 94% Hindu and peaceful.

      3. Mahawansa and Sinhala History is full of racism against the Tamuis and Hindus. Buddhist Monks played a key role then, to maintain their Monk Hegemony, like the Catholic Church in Europe.

      4. The post independent Sinhala Buddhist Terrorism was directed against the Tamils, both Hindu and Christian, and was the cause of the Separatist War,

      5. The late Prime Minister SWRD Bandaranaike was shot and killed by a Theraveda Buddhist Sinhala Monk, Somarama, in 1959 who converted to Christianity later. May be he traded Nirvana and Rebirth for Heaven and Hell Myths.

      6. Buddhism is the core curse of Lanka. Unfortunately, thanks to Monk Mahanama Myths, the monks were able to infect the Sinhala by Buddhism. The Tamils of Lanka were not infected by Buddhism, nor were the Tamils of Tamil Nadu.

      7. So, the core curse is Buddhism, not necessarily Sinhala. Had, Lanka been Jain, Hindu or even Christian, it would have been more peaceful.

      8. So, send all the Buddhist Monks to Bodhi Gaya, to attain Nirvana, Nibbana and Rebirth.

      DeJa Vu…

Col. Hari, Gotabaya Rajapake’s ENDGAME is: creating a DEEP STATE with a group of influential anti-democratic coalitions within the Sri Lanka political system, composed of high-level elements within the intelligence services, military, politico-religious parties, security, judiciary, and administrative officers to enable a COUP D’ETAT for Gota to take over as Lanka’s first MILITARY DICTATOR – in the name of “protecting Buddhism” from the minorities. Never mind that Sinhala Buddhism has been has distorted, perverted, MILITARIZED and destroyed by Gotabaya.

Rajapassa is working towards a Turkey or Pakistan style DEEP STATE with the military running businesses and playing large role in the economy. This model of “development” is bad for the Military because it erodes discipline, encourages corruption, land grabbing and rent seeking among the rank and file, and amounts to mission and mandate creep. It is also bad for the economy since the state subsidizes military business and squeezes out competition.
The notion of deep state that Gotabaya is creating, is similar to that of a “state within the state” and evident in many military dictatorships in the Mid East and Pakistan’s ISI which Gota works with. The political agenda of the deep state involves an allegiance to nationalism, corporatism, and state interests. Violence and other means of pressure have historically been employed in a largely covert manner to manipulate political and economic elites and ensure specific interests are met within the seemingly democratic framework of the political landscape.
The outlook and behavior of the Rajapakse family and associated predominantly military and political elites who constitute the deep state, and work to uphold national interests, are shaped by an entrenched belief that the country is always “on the brink” of being DIVIDED. This is the bogey that Rajapassa promotes in the form of Balu Sena etc. Sri Lanka liberals will need to be vigilant given the levels of militarization as the ECONOMIC CRISIS bites and people mobilize against the Rajapakse regime on the streets. Big question is will China play the role of supporter of the Gotabaya dictatorship as the US does with the Egyptian military? And what will India do?!

Rajapakshas are a bunch of rogues. None of them have even secondary education, done political studies or management studies. They hijacked this country by preventing Tamils from voting at the Presidential Election. From that day onwards they have led this country from disaster to disaster, from deformity to deformity and to total anarchy. Not a single move they make benefits the citizenry, but only the Rajapakshas and their power grabbing and familial project. Democracy is anathema to them and hence they strive to impose a military state on the country. All these Balu Senas, Champikayas, Buruwansayas and the Naipanikkiyos that they are manipulating are part of this putrid project. The bloody Chinese, Russian, Pakistani, African Black bastards are aiding and abetting in this despotic journey. These countries are the real enemies of suffering masses of the country. India has a huge responsibility and a moral obligation to prevent the despotic Rajapakshas from turning this country to a dictatorship. If not India will have a great headache and a threat from the geographic South.

Indian Police and Intelligence Services are as corrupt as ours. Not a day passes without some scandal or other. The difference is that the public is able to openly criticise the Govt and Police on such lapses. The Justice system too seems to be fairly impartial.

Muslims has destroyed Buddhism the whole of the Asian continent. Historical records vividly describe the atrocities committed against millions of Buddhists by Muslims in many countries. Over 50 million Buddhists and Hindus were massacred by Islamists in greater India during their rule between 13th to 17th centuries. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the great Indian Buddhist leader said, it is a fact that Buddhism disappeared from India under the sword of Islam.

Though Muslim population is just over 9% in Sri Lanka and only 4% in Myanmar this is a phenomenal growth comparing to other minorities such as Tamils. Muslims achieved this by breading like rabbits and marring from out side their religion. Elsewhere in the world, it is evident that Muslim demands and criminality against other communities have increased in correspondence to the rise of their population. Under these circumstances, no Buddhists can consider Islam as a religion of compassion and peace. To say the least, it is in this light that one has to analyse the action by RB, BBS, JHU and etc in Sri Lanka and Wirathu and his 969 movement in Myanmar.

Hariharan complains about ‘Buddhist activism and vigilantism against Muslims and Christian places worship in Sri Lanka. But he doesn’t say there had never been any killings or bomb blasts or shootings at any of these incidents. It seems he is trying to justify the bombing by terrorists.

Myanmar is a different kettle of fish altogether. True, in 2012 anti-Rohingya riots in Myanmar left about 140 killed and rendered 100,000 homeless. True, in March, 2013, Buddhist activists killed a total 43 people and injured 93 in Meikhtila in Central Myanmar. In all 1227 homes, 77 shops and 37 mosques were destroyed. But what Harharan says are only recent events. This attacks against Rohingiya and attacks by Rohingiya against local Arakanese goes back to few decades.

In 1947, when a new Islamic country of Pakistan was about to be formed, Rohingiya Muslims too agitated for separation from Myanmar. Widespread armed insurgency started by a Muslim political party called Jami-a-tul Ulema-e Islam for separation. Between 1950 and 1954, Burmese army launched major military operations and clamped it down. But some separatist Rohingiya formed small armed groups and continued to loot, harass and terrorize the Burmese Buddhists, especially in remote regions in Northern Arakan.

During the 1960’s and early 1970’s, there were several uprisings by Rohingiyas which were popularly known as Arakan State Riots. When Burmese government started to clamp it down, there was a mass exodus of refugees to Bangladesh. In 1991 and 1992, there was forced relocation of Muslims by the government and the creation of new Buddhist settlements in Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships. This precipitated another mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims to Bangladesh.

In late 1998, Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) and Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front (ARIF) combined to form the Rohingya National Council (RNC) with its own armed wing, gathering the different Rohingya insurgents into one group. In 2001, they underwent training in Libya and Afghanistan, in guerrilla warfare and the use of a variety of explosives and heavy-weapons. They had several meetings with Al-Qaeda representatives.

Throughout 2012 and in 2013, there had been a series of riots and much violence in Northern Arakan in the Rakhine State, between extremist Rohingya Muslims and the indigenous Rakhini or Arakanese people. The 2012 riots began after a Rakhine teenage girl was brutally raped and cut into pieces by three Muslim fanatics. This immediately led to an outrage and retaliation by the Rakhine community. This was followed by the extremist Muslims resorting to extreme forms of violence, destroying many villages in their entirety and murdering many innocent people. Those displaced by these riots exceeded 50, 000.
So you decide who is to blame.

In india there are several rape cases day by day???? and killings too. So, to whom you will blame? And where did you get these statistics? Who said in Burma the buddhist girl has been raped by three muslim boys? Why there were no violence in India??? not one girl is being raped many girls have been raped and killed…….why there is no violence??????
There is no law and order and proper security system in these countries…….and laws are impartial…..people do crimes…..whom to blame???
In Sri Lanka the DIG him self is an Underworld who is in jail currently……what punishment will they give according to our law???? Where is Justice???? whom to blame???? All terrorist in the world have been feed by politicians and rulers. In india the problem is RSS. In Sri Lanka the problem is Rajapaksa family…..the BBS, JHU, RB all are feed by them.

Muslims are violent because of Islam, the Quran! Quran dictate them to be violent. Someone must delete the violent and hate disseminating paragraphs from the Quran! That is the only way to make Muslims peaceful.

Saturday, 09 June 2012 05:58 M. A. Khan of muslimrapewave.wordpress.com reported “A gang of illegal Bangladeshi Muslim settlers rob, rape and murder a Arakanese Buddhist girl in Myanmar.”

The Australian reported on June 06, 2012 that ‘A TRIPLE gangland killer’s allegations linking a current and former police officer to an unsolved murder prompted investigation in to failure to build a murder case, but also triggered a chain of events that destroyed the careers of a police assistant commissioner and police union boss.’ So corrupt police officers are not limited to Sri Lanka. What is important is Vass is in Remand and being investigated.

Al Alan is writing as if Rajapaksa family, BS, JHU, RB are worse than ‘jihadis’ who bomb and kill innocent people the world over on daily basis. This is nothing but Muslim hypocrisy.

          @i am no muslim,
You don’t see that america is bombing all afghanistan, iraq, pakistan…and israel is bombing in palestine etc etc etc. Do u know the history of the world? you know who has started bombing and terrorism in the world? You know who has started world wars? Do u know who has started LTTE in sri lanka and destroyed the country for 30y. Do u know who has started Taliban al Qaida?
Do u know what Lenin and Stalin did in Soviet union?
Go back and learn the history. Do u know today who is feeding to BBS in Sri lanka…and previously who has fed to LTTE?
The media is controlled by them too. So, use your common sense to understand something unless just watching anti Islamic sites.

Whoever bombed have been concerned not to destroy totally but only an impact with a small damage to achieve the desired results. If not why eight bombs, two would have been sufficient to completely destroy and further placing two would have been easy than placing eight. You can not rule out, it can be the work of MR himself to draw sympathy for his cause of safeguarding Buddhism.

gamini, why coudn’t it be ranil? He normally plays these games setting one against the other like he did with Fonseka. He may be hoping that mahinda ,the fool will take it out on the muslims in Srilanka and all the muslims will come back into the UNP.

shankar, Shows how much you know of people commenting on these forums. If RW was in the same league as the Premadasa/Cooray cult, by now MR another murderer would be history. Why is RW faulted and accused by some UNPers for not telling lies to come to power?

gamini,if as you say ranil is a decent man, then he cannot become the president no?The large majority of sinhalese will want someone who represents their qualities too. They say the people always get the representatives they deserve.Since ranil is more suitable to lead a western country and not ours, why don’t we ditch him as the leader of the UNP and give the job to sajith who is more like the masses/asses representing their qualities.Don’t you prefer sajith to mahinda,or do you like to be in the opposition with ranil?

shankar, the larger majority of citizenry are honest and hope to see Decent, Honest, Educated ruling the country. Unfortunately the Corrupt and the murderous are in power and distorting the results preventing the true position to be revealed. Wait for the next Presidential Election of three corner fight with two Corrupt and One Honest, where the two corrupt will prevent a fraud. Besides why Replace a Rajapahsa with a Premadasa same tonic in different bottles?

“Besides why Replace a Rajapahsa with a Premadasa same tonic in different bottles?”

gamini, because sajith is UNP.You don’t mind if UNP is in the opposition because you are comfortably living in the UK,but spare a thought for the UNP supporters who are languishing in the wilderness for 18 years. When UNP was in power for 17 years they would have quenched their thirst and hunger to the maximum and then the SLFP came and has for 18 years quenched their thirst and hunger to the maximum.Isn’t it time for the UNP supporters to start kaapalla beepalla jolly kerapalla.

Where is your sense of fun, man.Don’t you want the UNP to also have some fun and some jolly times again, wet blanket you are.

This Shankar fella is an edawela living hand to mouth man with no political decency or brains at all. He is more than happy to replace one corrupt miserable ruler with another. His favorite brand is Premadasa type and no wonder he writes this this type of crap. By the way Shankar Saith’s wife is vary famous these days among those “strong roded” UNPrs who seek womanly pleasure and you could join ’em from M or F sexist perspective, whatever your inclination.

Emil, aren’t you jumping to conclusions too soon. How can you know that sajith will be corrupt without giving him a chance to become the president.Don’t prejudge people.Of course he might become corrupt with the now London languishing paskaralingam coming like a rocket to colombo to put all kind of deals through, but how can it be worse than what it is now.I’am not a Sajith supporter because he looks a buffoon to me but i’am scraping the barrel here to find someone because all the UNP big wigs got knocked off by Prabha with possibly the exception of Lalith which could be by none other than yours truly’s illustrious father.Main thing is to capitalise on his fathers name a bit and give a fight to mahinda on his own turf of rural folk.If it does not work out bring back ranil.Main thing is they both should think of the party first and self interest second.

As for his wife we are not interested in how strong a rod she wants, because we are not electing her as the president.Sajith can dump her anytime he wants because marriages are not arranged in heaven anymore with the divorce rate now.Your discourse on strong rods made me remember a time when i was killing some time in amsterdam and browsing through a street i went into a sex shop and lo and behold there was this huge rod standing out from the rest and i asked the man whether it was for a horse or a woman, and he assured me that it is very fast moving one.

Col. Hariharan is a huge mischief maker as a RAW operative for 25 years. Indian Government has the dubious distinction of attacking the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The same GOI where Col. Hari was upto all the dirty tricks, murder and rape in Sri Lanka and elsewhere for over 30 years.

Now he is happily enjoying his pension and whopping consultation fees as an expert of terror. GOI and the IA murdered thousands of Mukthi Bahini in addition to over 10,000 Tamils in the NE. This includes doctors and nurses in the Jaffna Hospital and thousands of innocent people. No wonder Col. Hari they earned the title ” INNOCENT PEOPLE KILLING FORCES” with Hari as the head of intelligence and dirty tricks dept.
He was the “DIRTY HARRI”. LOL.

THE BOMBINGS are the works of the Muslim Jihadis in retaliation for the attacks on the Muslims of Sri Lanka. It is the 300,000 Sinhala Buddhist tourist who visit on pilgrimages to Buddha Gaya and not the Burmese Muslims. So it is the Singhalese Buddhist who are the affected party and they are simply terrified.

Accept the current reality without beating about the bush..

Forget about Chennai in Tamil Nadu and Buddha Gaya in Bihar. Go to Dalada Maligawa and Anuradhapura or the Northern Province’s Naga Deepa. The roads are being built, railways reconstructed to help the Sinhalese and the military to move in and out of the NE province, fly in or sail into KKS Port.

Good Luck, and see what else happens. Shit always hits the fan, despite the spin people like Dirty Hari puts.

The attacks on Muslims in Myanmar had now spread in South Asia. It appears that the Talibans are the root cause for this conflict when they destroyed Bamiyan Buddha statutes in Afghanistan, despite several requests. These Islamic terrorists always fail to realize the consequences of such destruction. Since the Muslims in Myanmar are been persecuted, number of Muslim countries would have expressed concern over the behaviour of Buddhist clergies. Even in Sri Lanka there are uncivilized activities taking place against the Muslims. Had the SAARC organized religious conferences at regular intervals such conflicts could have been reduced. Neverthless, it has to be admitted there is no unity among the SAARC countries – given the fact Islamic terrorists have infiltrated India from all sides. There is reason to suspect that an Islamic terrorist organization (Al Muharjdeen) may have a hand in this uncivilized act. It won’t be a surprise that other places of Buddhist worship including that of Sri Lanka may be subject to such uncivilized attacks. If such attack continues, I am afraid, India may have to conquer some countries (for better or worse) and bring them under its rule, in the best interests of restoring law and order and putting an end to terrorism.

It might be some internal groups are angry about development in SL. Tamils groups in TN are angry for what happened to their brothers in SL and this may be reaction to that. As they attacked some SL monks in recent times.. It would be better Srilankan take more precaution from now on. SL wants a lot from India and yet, they are not happy to give some thing to Tamils .SL want to destroy Tamil culture, religion and language and when this domination takes place TN will do something to save Tamils in SL.. until such time let Tamils wait and see.

Col R Hariharan has come out with fair & accurate account of incident & Indian security agencies.

Yet, I see another thing, CM Nitish Kumar’s national standing took a U turn & exposed Delhi Congress govt. weaknesses further & both would be very weak to challenge Modi’s rise as a national leader in India & his PM stakes at next election
