Demockery Banished!

Today I am proud to be a Sri Lankan. I say Sri Lankan and not Sinhala, because if as certain elements claim the ousting of the miss rule of our Country is due to the minorities, it is they who should get the credit.

Credit for having the foresight and the plain intelligence to “THINK FOR THEMSELVES” and see what was obvious to everyone. Our motherland was been raped and pillaged and the masses were silent.

Like a dumb heard of bovines they were being led by the corrupt mass media and other nefarious sources of miss information. The “war” victory was been flogged to death, even when we refused to show respect for our enemies who were vanquished (a fact noted with pride in our 2000 + year documented history) the people remained silent.

When a man with questionable mental stability ranted and raved on BBC television and behaved in extremely unreasonable fashion, no one said anything! He may have made decision and backed the forces to win the war but to behave as he did (and the silent majority condoned it) against civilians, after the victory….was ridiculous.

Gotabaya RajapaksaBulldozing LTTE grave yards and monuments was WRONG, and I am not afraid to say this. The same way that we mourn our dead they too should be allowed to mourn their dead.

We were headed on a slippery slope to suffer the same fate as Libya, Egypt and maybe even Afghanistan.

The PEOPLE stood up, lead by outstanding citizens both prominent and unknown, the people spoke! A completely boodles transition of power took place and DEMOCKERY was replaced by true democracy.

I urge those claiming that the minority made this difference to shut up! Do so before the full extent of your foolishness is portrayed for the world to see. The world is amazed that this tiny Country has shown so much restraint and conducted themselves with dignity and decorum. We have proved to the world that the restraint we showed in the face of ruthless attack after attack by the LTTE terrorists, when the murdered civilians by the hundreds, is real. It was not cowardice or fear… it was true intelligence and a genuine love for the future of our Country. The majority turned to the philosophy that guides our daily life, “violence begets Violence” is a fact of life.

Let’s continue this by getting involved in the governance of our Country. By always exercising our franchise by stopping rascals and rogues from ever assuming power again. So many past elections, I hear people say “I am not going to vote”, “what’s the use of voting”! I was dumbfounded! What else can you do but vote…surely I can rest my case now?

Today, I consider myself privileged to have been born in this wonderful Island; we have lots of work to do to raise our society to acceptable levels. The door is now open and the thinking of good people must prevail.

    R.A. Ratwatte,
You are speaking again like the damned Sinhalese Elite who only get their due-felt recognition from minorities. For in Sri Lanka, Sinhala Elite and minorities are of one club (the high-born, and the stooges who prop up the high-born). All together, they comprise of the 6-odd million who voted Ranil in.

The other 5-odd million are the masses. They are the masses of the ancient heritage. They are the masses who are going to get screwed to to remain as “buffalos” of the minority and Sinhala-Elite Club. Twenty years from now, Sinhala-Elite club will be singing Amaradeva songs in American, and the “buffaloes” will be Dalits of TN. This is a Clarion call: For God’s sake bring back the Rajapaksas!!!

Yes, u r right Ramona. 5-odd million people voted for MR. why not? with all State media, state resource, public officers including ministry secretaries (First Time in the history of our country) being used to campaign and brain wash the poor rural masses.what about all the poster campaign and cut outs in every corner of the country. They brain washed the poor masses using the 30 year war as their only weapon and got the 5 million odd votes.

Already Basil is singing Micheal Jackson songs in Amearica, many more to join him.
People like you and me will have PAN and PARIPPU here for the rest of our lives. The Country has been Robbed so much.

And the other side got brainwashed with Western illusions. Poor rural masses have no time to listen to long speeches and debates- cutouts of Rajapaksa said it all. While the other side will rush to America to savor the Mcdonalds experience of the Monsanto Coglomerate (corporate office soon to be set up in Sri Lanka), our rural masses will be privileged to eat the environmentally and human friendly pan and parippu.

As long as the kawum kana modayas live in the country it will be in stone age. All politician will make money and the modayas will be in stone age where they always praise the politicians for robbing the country.

It is the Rajapaksa rule who treated the masses of all races as Buffaloes
All the newspapers and Radios were praising the King and suppressing all the evils from the citizens.
Time for freedom of media and Justice
The minorities voted for Mr Sirisena for good governance without expecting any benefits to themselves. They wanted rule of the Law and not rule of the Jungle

      “Ramona Therese Fernando”
The name’s different, but the vicious racist rhetoric is the same as the man of (literally) a thousand aliases!
Those of you now HIDING in various parts of the world from where you can freely vent your venomous rants deserve a fate that goes beyond that which you’d come by in a democracy. You deserve to spend eternity with the likes of the regime that until January 8th raped and pillaged our homeland, being victims rather than perpetrators this time.
The temptation to apply an old epithet is very strong indeed, however, the female canine in our household is of a decency that you will NEVER be able to aspire to and I wouldn’t want to put her in the same category as you.

Well said Mr. Ratwatte in a very short and sweet way.

The majority Sinhalese were brave enough to give a leadership to the monstrously misaligned state of country’s rule. The Sinhalese voted to equate. Those votes that came to Maithripala Sirisena was the bulk of UNP votes that returned back to its fold. MS’s beloved brethren too weighed in. But, the winning streak was done by minorities. It’s like the cake after being cooked was decorated with fine icing.

without the icing there won’t be anything that left remaining now to talk about. The country was finally rescued by the very same people the Sinhala Only crack pots call for nearly a century as foreigners waiting to destroy the nation.

Anagarika Dharmapala died on the 08th Jan 2015.

    Well said Rajitha.

I am glad to hear that you too condemn the bulldozing of the LTTE graveyards. There are several high officers in the Army too who are of the same view as you. They are all mad with Gota for having ordered this.

Even the Last Post which is played at every Service funeral was by the father of a militant who was a Captain and was fighting the war not knowing the son had joined the military. He had dragged a dying soldier not knowing whether he was from his side or the militant side. Only at dawn he had recognised that the body was that of his only son, who had joined the militants without the knowledge of the family. He had requested the Army to allow him to bury his son and allow the band to play and they refused to give the band but allowed him to play the instruments and give his son a decent burial. Thus the Last Post was born.

Every mother and father should have the right to mourn for their children whether they be terrorists or the armed forces fighting against them. That is true democracy.

Reconciliation would have occurred long ago if not for idiotic decisions like these. Let this government at least now win the hearts of the minorities and implement the suggestions made by the LLRC.

Lest we forget…the Ratwatte’s have eaten from all sides of the table and we should take Mr. Ratwatte’s comments as just that! Comments. His life was not impacted one bit with any of the governments in power in the last 30 years although by his own admission he contemplated migration at some point. And that was because he was not doing as well as his cousins, and not because he was in survival mode.

Today we see the same circle from 15 years ago and the fringe operators in the last 10 making a beeline to collect their rewards. You will see Mangala and his ilk making dubious appointments ( Remember Tiran Alles?)and have the audacity to justify them.

Yes, we achieved what seemed to be impossible just 45 days ago. None of it would have happened if most of us did not vote our conscience. It is clear politicians give up their conscience quite early in their careers. There has been no transparency with President Sirisena’s dealings with MR and his family todate. Why? Because, he is focused in protecting what is left of the SLFP which he will need soon enough, when General Elections are announced. Similarly, Ranil knows he will not be PM past the General Elections unless he creates a new understanding within the NDF.

In the meantime we are waiting for action….
