Sirisena loyalist Azath Salley in his testimony before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing Easter attacks, said the Police and National Thawheed Jamath (NTJ) were working in cohorts since as early as 2005.
Salley implied terrorist Zaharan and NTJ members were protected by someone in the top brass of the Police leadership or was being protected by a powerful political hand, when he noted NTJ members were enjoying unconditional immunity from arrests and were not taken into custody even after they rioted in Kattankudy in 2017.
“Zaharan and his gang set fire to 120 houses in Kattankudy but the Police didn’t take any action at all!…Seeing Police inaction the residents of the area then took to the streets and protested against the injustice…The OIC who tried to arrest him was immediately transferred,” he added.
Salley says he even wrote to the IGP regarding the sudden transfer of the OIC but to no avail.
The Ex-Governor went on to note the NTJ harassed traditional Muslims working in cohorts with the Police and were not even allowed to lodge a complaint when they were subjected to abuse by NTJ members.

Second, the idea that the Police were somehow encouraging NTJ does not ring true. There have been allegations that money has been paid to them but this could just mean that the organisation had been infiltrated by the intelligence agencies and that some of the members were informers. The trouble with this is that the agencies often wait until it is too late to make arrests especially when a crime has yet to be commited. This is not unusual even in the west where almost all the terrorist attackers have so far had been known to the agencies and even been interviewed by them. Several had even been informers at some point. In Britain it has been the intelligence agencies who have been actively campaigning for former ISIS fighters to be allowed back in. Presumably in order to gather intelligence from them which is their obsession. But the reality is that these are highly unstable people psychologically. They can without any warning go on to cause carnage. So in a way Azath Salley is right. The agencies have put their intelligence gathering above the safety of the citizens. And they need to take some responsibility.

Zaharan was seen discussing with Hisbullah. Moreover, it appears that even Mahinda Rajapakse has allocated 200 acres of land for the establishment of Zaria University in the Eastern Province. Further, why should Maithripala Srisena terminated the IGP from office. What was most surprising was Gota’s right hand was in charge of Security of Sagarilal Hotel. Surely he should have checked Zaharan. Having known about the incident, why should Maithripala Srisena leave the country. All the politicians are involved. No one is worried about the lives of the people and economy of the country. Why is Maithripala Srisena blocking the Parliament to inquire into the incident. Puzzling.

Agreed. But in this case it was a calculated and systematic plans perpetrated by some notorious Muslim politicians to create chaos in the country. Whatever said Sinhalese are 70% of the population. We should mix with them. But here is a case where Hisbullah was bent on converting the Eastern Province as an Islamic State for which he with NTJ had involved in unlawful acts which tantamount to threatening the sovereignty of the country. The manner in which Hisbullah proceeded and eventually declare it as a separate entity and some Islamic countries recognize it, what would have been the consequences of the people of Sri Lanka. about his Date Palm growing in Kathankudy ! This is one mammoth
concern of Srilanka’s Sovereignty for REAL PATRIOTS ! Do you know
that in the US , California , Arizona , Florida , Nevada and Texas , Date
palms are grown ? Mexico grows and exports Dates ? Does this mean
Arabisation of the US and Mexico ? The US exports Dates to U K and
Australia . It is so cheap of politics to get down to so low . Instead of
creating huge awareness about diversity , seeds of divisions at any
