Enter Gotabhaya?

By Tisaranee Gunasekara

“If the President tells me at some point, ‘You must do politics; the country needs your services,’ I will have to do politics – Gotabhaya Rajapaksa (Deshaya – 1.6.2014)

The Rajapaksa colossus has a colossal weak-point, which, under certain circumstances, can bring down the entire edifice.

The Prime Minister is not a Rajapaksa.

mahinda_gota - colombotelegraphAccording to Lankan constitution, if the President dies or becomes incapacitated, the Prime Minister becomes the acting president. Within a month, “Parliament shall elect as the President one of its members who is qualified”[i] via a secret ballot.

That was how a smooth transfer of power was assured when the Tigers assassinated President Premadasa.

Death is the great unpredictable. Mahinda Rajapaksa, like anyone of us, may live for decades or die the next second. And if he dies/becomes incapacitated while in office his presidential-shoes will be filled by the prime minister.

Therefore the post of PM is crucial for the success of the Rajapaksa project. The Constitution can ensure a smooth and peaceful transition of power. But only a Rajapaksa prime minister can ensure a smooth and peaceful transition of power, en famille.

Appointing a sibling as the Speaker closed the door to an impeachment against the President (and facilitated the illegal impeachment of the Chief Justice). Appointing a sibling as the PM will ensure that power stays within the family, when Mahinda Rajapaksa dies, someday.

The Rajapaksas would know that no one can be more disloyal than a loyalist or more disobedient than an acolyte, when conditions change. Only the family can be trusted.

The SLFP is still not a Rajapaksa party. These discontents are unlikely to remain dormant so long as Mahinda Rajapaksa is president. But if he dies/becomes incapacitated while in office, it does not need oracular powers to predict that the SLFP will move swiftly to ensure that the new president is not a Rajapaksa.

Unless the prime minister is a Rajapaksa.

There is an age limit to be the President. Consequently Namal Rajapaksa will not be qualified to fill his father’s shoes for another seven years. In any case primogeniture was never a hard-and-fast rule in ancient Lanka, as it was in Europe.

The only real question therefore is, which brother?

The planned entry of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa into electoral politics would be a key component of the strategy to perpetuate all power in familial hands.

Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s comment to the new paper, Deshaya, is manifestly an attempt to break the news ‘gently’ to the SLFP and the country.

Soon the next episode of the ‘Rajapaksa Dynasty’ will be staged. Mahinda Rajapaksa will ask Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to contest. And Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, like the obedient younger brother he is, will agree.

Over the last several years, there were many rumours of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa entering electoral-politics. Every time the rumour was unequivocally denied by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Now, with national elections in the offing, the time to play coy is over.

Mr. Rajapaksa says he will be contesting from Colombo.

His illogical ‘beautification-drive’ makes excellent politico-electoral sense in this context. Never mind that today Colombo is far more prone to flooding than it was before Mr. Rajapaksa began his beautification-drive. Last Sunday, the ‘Garden City’ became ‘The City of many Lakes’. Tiled pavements and walkways sans proper drainage cannot prevent flooding. Residents of Colombo and the immediate suburbs are beginning to see the light, as demonstrated by the marked drop in the UPFA’s vote. But by evicting Colombo’s low-income families under cover of beautification, Mr. Rajapaksa has removed a critical chunk of the anti-Rajapaksa vote base.

Once elections are over, with Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in parliament, the task of appointing a Rajapaksa as the PM will become easier. Once that final hole is sealed, the continuation of Rajapaksa power will be assured.

It will be, ‘President Rajapaksa is dead! Long live President Rajapaksa!’

The Final Chance

The Rajapaksas have forewarned. The opposition should be forearmed.

The planned entry of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa into electoral politics changes everything. What was once speculation is now a certitude. The Rajapaksas plan to rule, ad infinitum.

Given the state of the economy and Indian/regional/international conditions, Sri Lanka cannot afford continuous Rajapaksa rule. And the last chance to prevent that calamity will come and go with the next round of national elections.

The ideal outcome will be the defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksa at the presidential election. For that, a common oppositional candidate is a necessary condition. That possibility seems almost impossible currently. Sans a common candidate, even the next best outcome is likely to be impossible – preventing Mahinda Rajapaksa from obtaining 50% +1 vote.

If the presidential election is lost, the only other avenue of escape is to prevent the Rajapaksas from gaining a parliamentary majority. A hung-parliament will place some obstacles on the Rajapaksa path. But a hung-parliament will not be, without a united and strong opposition. If Mahinda Rajapaksa wins an outright victory at the presidential election, the opposition will go into crisis. The disastrous leadership tussle will re-emerge in the UNP. The fragmented opposition will be too busy wrangling with each other for oppositional votes to mount a serious challenge to the Rajapaksas at the parliamentary election.

Once they have secured the premiership, the Rajapaksas will move fast to neutralise other disloyal/dissenting spaces, starting with the SLFP. SLFP seniors and ambitious juniors will have to resign themselves to a lifetime of servitude and humiliation.

The Rajapaksa project was never a personal project; it was always a familial project. The greatest strength of the Rajapaksas is the family – the fact that they act like a single unit. This is especially so with the brothers. There may be differences among them, but these differences cannot be exploited because they are not political or electoral factors.

This is the time to reread two illuminating analyses of the Rajapaksas and their modus operandi. Lasantha Wickremetung warned of their ‘good-cop/bad-cop’ routine: “The Defence Secretary will personally call an editor and threaten arrest or even assassination. The President will then follow up by saying not to worry; he will look into the matter.”[ii]

American Ambassador Robert O Blake’s analysis is even more perceptive: “The President is often reluctant to make decisions….particularly on important issues. Sometimes he avoids decision making altogether by delegating many responsibilities to Gothabaya or Basil, allowing him to avoid blame for unpopular decisions….. The relationship between the President and his brothers, obviously, is a family one as well as a political one…. one of their biggest roles is to provide political cover to the President. The President often has Gothabaya and Basil take credit for decisions so he can appear less involved in actions that earn the GSL criticism at home and abroad.”[iii]

The larger Lankan crisis did not start with the Rajapaksas. Therefore it cannot be ended by ousting the Rajapaksas. But ending Rajapaksa rule is the essential and first pre-condition for ending the Lankan crisis.

If we fail, the Rajapaksas will ruin the economy and isolate Sri Lanka by diminishing her into a Chinese pawn. To render their Leviathan necessary, they will promote ethno-religious conflicts and make society ‘nasty, brutish’ and insecure. “A world of terror and a world of triumph”[iv] will be their weapon-cum-shield and our fate.

Few years ago, political prediction makers were in the view that Rajapakshe rule will end up through political power struggle between own Rajapakshe siblings. With the latest news – that alleged war criminal Gotabaya^s own remarks about the intentions of active party politics – confirms those predictions.
The one in power would never allow devolution of power which is the only way out all folks to achieve peace between them. So come ahead of us will be not nice for us the general public in this country. Rajapakshes have alread gone to records being all unethical rascal minded ones that have made all harms not only to the minorities but also majority folks. Today there is no rule of law. No justice. Nothing like press freedom – hegomony rules the nation promoting impunity day to another. Ballige puthas are no longer there, we will finally be able to achieve sustainable peace and harmony in thsi country is what my aged father said to me last week.

best thing would be to introduce wild buffaloes to lanken politics. That would be the great match with the bunch in power. This country has been fallen to a level – it could be called as fallen on th the hand of a bunch of thieves.

Where are the spineless, self-serving, dynasty worshipping so called SLFP seniors?

Aren’t they suppose to revolt against the take-over of the corrupt SLFP by the Hambantota clan only? Leaving only bread crumbs for them.

Senior SLFP rats must be waiting for an opportuinty to jump from the slowly sinking, corrupt Rajapassa ship.

But, stinking rats only jump from a ship when they see another ship they could board in the horizon.

Right now they see none. And so they agonize and wait. Forever!

      Cheers!

This is but a boringly predictable outcome. To be brutally frank, anyone is a better PM than that drug-runner, who refused to quit even when half is body is clinically dead. This is nothing new to a country that gained a negative reputation as an Uncle-Nephew’s Party. But there can be danger to the ruling mafia. Once the news is out, other
PM hopefuls – some with assurances from the King himself, become vulnerable to the machinations of outsiders planning to send the dagger through the Rajapakses, metaphorically speaking. And, Sir, there are many in this category – men, women and negative gender.

Dont forget that not so long ago, a clinically dead woman was propped up as PM, next to a squirming, twerking (apologies to Miley Cyrus), Prince Charles who had the misfortune of sitting next to her as the Queens representative at a ceremonial function in Colombo. This is true politics, Sri Lanka style, where anything goes.

MR will call the whole family even for politics if the opposition dont do something for the family politics. Most of his Cabinet Ministers are also following this Bullshit, father, son, sister, bil or sil. We should change this cancer very early. This is another step forward for corruptions. Should follow India.
Worst is that, how can this man call for his kith and kin to do politics when his job is also on the fence now.

      Hi Razik,
This inability to read and understand the international language, English is not the fault of the Singhal people. It is a gift given to the Sri Lankan Sinhalese by SWRD and his family which governed SL for a long period of time.
SWRD, when he retuned from the UK joined the English educated Ceylones and managed to kick the British out of Ceylon.
Suddenly the penny dropped and SWRD realised that he and his cahoots as native Ceylones were able to get rid of the British purely because of their English education and he knew then that if he allows the Sri Lankan society to continue learn in English, see and read how the rest of the world is living( English was the main medium of teaching then in Ceylon)the native Sinhalese will kick him and his class of people out of the Parliament if they do not govern the country properly, when ever there is an election.

This is why SWRD brought the Sinhala only policy in 1956 and also made sure that teaching all subject in English except Singhal and Tamil was abolished which was widely practised in many schools around Sir- Lanak. However, he made sure that his children continue their studies in English. His wife and daughter could have reversed this process but did not care to do so because they also thought they were the ruling class and let the Singhal and Tamil children grow up as illiterates when it comes to international matters.
The MODA Singhal masses could not understand this and hailed SWRD as their King until MR came along.
I shudder when I see many talented SL cricketers speak in pigeon English after playing a magnificent innings. It is not the fault of these se poor guys. It was SWRD and his families fault. But many Sinhalese even today believes that it was the greatest gift given to them by the Bandaranayke family!

In addition to all the reasons cited by M/s TS, the rush for Bother prince to get into the Parliament and getting additional protection is the fear coming from the UNHRC. UNHRC may headed by Dharusman during the investigation time. He is as strong as Navi Pilley on his activist side, but tougher than Navi Pilley on action side. Now, UNHRC going to investigate the war crimes. There is a chance somebody will come with a convincing evidence to load up Gotta file with Matara mass murder site too, though the period can not come into direct inquiry, with the Mullivaikkal. Gota is looking for additional protection. Becoming MP, Minister and Prime Minister in an additional protection. Deva is managing for not being taken in by Chennai court for the accused murder he committed there is because of his Minister-ship.

The larger Lankan crisis did not start with the Rajapaksas. Therefore it cannot be ended by ousting the Rajapaksas. But ending Rajapaksa rule is the essential and first pre-condition for ending the Lankan crisis.

    hmm lets see.

    a) Some Tamils claimed they are a nation with exclusive rights to 40% of the landmass leaving 75% of the people a tiny corner in the island.
    b) The large majority of Sri Lankans refuses.
    c) Then these Tamils trained and armed by India to forcefully achieve their goal.
    d) Rajapaksas defeat point c.
    e) …

The “larger crisis” that remains is a). Now I am wondering, who is going to solve a) ? This is a story that repeats throughout history isn’t it?

Some Tamils land in the north and begins to love it here. The natives are also liberal minded folks very accommodating. After a while some Tamils think it must be easy to just take advantage of the power deficit leveraging their family across the ditch. A struggle breaks out and the Tamils are defeated.

Sinhala’s always brings their ‘Dutu’ (Cruel) Gamunu when the menace becomes overwhelming. Dutu Gamunu stays until the menace is no longer a threat.

If you want Dutu Gamunu to go then get rid of a) first without barking like a lunatic.

The claims of Sinhala and Tamils are rubbish. Why?

      1. Test their DNA. They are Para who came from south India. You can call them, Nagas, Yaksa , racists. chauvinists. Still Paras.

A few of the para raped the native Veddah women and spread their genes, but only a few.

all the paras will be tested for their DNA. those paras who have less than 50% Native Veddah DNA will be sent back to their Native Land, south India, or Nagaland.

Genetic affinities of Sri Lankan populations Human Biology, by Kshatriya, Gautam Kumar

      http://www.lankanewspapers.com/news/2007/6/15923_space.html

“In conclusion, the original inhabitants of Sri Lanka were the Veddahs, who have had little admixture with the Sinhalese and possibly none with the Tamils. The Veddahs are distinct because they were confined to inhospitable dry zones and were hardly influenced by the neighboring inhabitants. Furthermore, the Sinhalese and the Sri Lankan Tamils are an admixed population genetically.” Just read again, Off the Butt.

      1. The Native Veddah are the original inhabitants in the Land of native Veddah.

      2. There is possibly some Native Veddah gene in some Sinhala and Tamils, because of abduction of Native Veddah women by the Para-Sinhala, and their progeny. Now the Sinhala abduct Tamil women and rape them in the North. This raping does not make All the Para-Sinhala. Only the offspring of the product of raping, are made partial natives.

      3. In South Africa, they had Black natives, the Coloreds the Product of Wjite rapes, and Whites. Only the blacks are the true natives. Similarly, only the Native Veddah are the true natives and inheritors of Lanka, the land of native Veddah. So, the DNA of all Para-Sinhala and other Paras will be tested, and those who have less than 50% Native Veddah genes will be sent to South India, the land of the Nagas.

My Personal opinion is Executive presidency shouldn’t abolished. Our fight should focus on election process. If Executive presidency abolished before to changed the elections system, we will have more problems than now.

Family base politics common in Asian countries, What we can’t avoid in Asian culture is family but we can avoid wrong persons by selecting correct family..

What would be correct family to Sri Laka ?

    1. Rajapaksha Famiily
    2. Jayarathna Family
    3. Sirisena Family
    4. De Silva Family

    1.Wicramashinha Family
    2.Premadasa Family
    3.Jayasooriay Family
    4.Aththanayaka Family

    1. Hakeem Family
    2. Ashorof Family
    3. Musthafa Family

    1.Sumanitharan Family
    2.Sampanthana Family
    3.Thondaman Family ?

No one remains from Prabakaran Family but amman or Selvan Family still exists

at least finally Finally Fonseka Family ???

Doesn’t the pic also show very clearly what they think in their minds ? to me it seems like the expression is we have it all ! the pie belong to us ! it’s ours and ours only for taking !

This is the acting talent of MR….

his acts be them related to the facts or not – polarise easily since the majority folks are beyond the stupidity levels.

Taking it the way steping down his feet from the plane – on very day he was misinformed entire nothern soils were leberated by lanken forces -… he knelt down and lick the soils…. those who knew still know.. that only few days later, they the forces defeated the rebells completely. But media covered all these … because it is the world of Raja… they kill… they torture.. they let people missing…. but they also cover them perfectly.. all these we the one who have the brains studied well.. but the masses seem to be far from all realities.

        People dont raise and questions.

        They just live indifferent.

MR and their shenanigans do whatever they feel is right.. no need to meet with rule of laws…. since the situation is as if the laws are valid only for poor of the poor… no independent police actitives.

When listening ot Raja talks, … people feel omg…. what a nice president – but looking back the way.. during last 5 years alone… have they fulfilled any promises that came from his mouth pieces… just covering IT by war victory and on going physical development projects…. again and again… if the nation is clever.. time is enough to have made a clear view about the abusive mechanism of Raja admi..

May be in the days to come, things will become even clearer.

Yes I am a Muslim, I would like to say it’s not only Hakeem all ministers/deputy ministers/Cheep Ministers/MP/PC/DIG/and so on and on no, any one who is working in any capacity related to government has no powers what so ever.
Let alone that even private establishments where MR regime has planted their cronies are under their control.

Specifically to answer your question I and along with many muslims have no love for Hakeem, he won the election from one party and crossed over to GOV side. Double crossing ass, what hey most of the asses did that after wining the vote.

And I think you cannot call him a powerful man, he along with likes of him in the GOV have no power. All the power is with the 1st family.

As a Sinhala man I cant listen to Azwer ´s talks- not second to that of Anthony who held a speech on Rajaanoo after the defeat of LTTE were pronounced as a greater war victory.

So how can you guys – as MUSLIMs bear all that. Azwer is very loyal to MR thugs. His flattery talks bother me that much.. i wish he could better be abducted by MR whitvans squads. He has no arguments most of the times… like a rabid dog disturbs in parliament. He finds any arguments to attack using all filthy langauge.. not caring at all about the way Muslims are being treated. In his capacity he could do so though. Muslims like Azwer should be kept in cages to protect the muslim community. Only hope for the muslims are Asath S. But he is somewhat intimidated by his previous arrest. May be his family does not want him to get arrested again. This kind of threats.. living with threats shold be no longer there, if MR regime as they prey they have liberated the entire nation. Muslims shold come forward and demad all rights … passivity can lead them to get cornered by Rajaapkshe criminals.
I wish we the lankens did not talk about Relgions, Races or other differences between us as it is the case in S pore or malaysia or even on the west.

“If we fail, the Rajapaksas will ruin the economy and isolate Sri Lanka by diminishing her into a Chinese pawn”.
For over thirty years the Tamils with the help of Tiger Terrorists did just that – ruined the Sri lankan economy and Gunesekeran said nothing to stop that process. Now, a sudden gush of concern for the Sri Lankan economy from the writer!
Oh! the writer is concerned of Sti Lanka being isolated. I suspect it is just that the writer would like to see happen. After all his Terrorist band got a hammering at the hands of the Sri Lankan forces.
The equation is this: the anti Rajapakse brigade is made up of disgruntled Tamils and a minority of westernised Sinhalese comprise no more than 25% of the population. Add to that another 5% Muslims. You are well short of required numbers to oust Rajapakse.
No matter what you say, and how often said such provocative statements about the Rajapakses, the majority of the population (include me) will back the Rajapaksas.
There is progress econimically, socially and stability since 2005. Most importantly the Rajapakses have handed a humiliating defeat to Racist Tamil elements both locally and overseas. It is this that bothers you most and not the state of the economy.
Draw comfort by burying your head in the sand. The majority (include me) hail the Rajapakses.

will be chosen for him by the Chief Party Organizer and will be a secret

It is important to note what is happening to the Russian President these days. He has become a Pariah in the eyes of the international community and certain individuals have been hit with sanctions. Similarly if Gotha becomes the PM we can be sure that the international community will accelerate its actions against Sri Lanka and especially hit key people including Gotha with travel sanctions. Do we need this?

Further India will move in to establish an Eelam, which we all do not want. Sri Lanka should not be divided.

The war was the biggest drain on the Sri Lankan economy as billions had to be spent on weaponry and the lack of stability kept potential investors and tourists away. At One time, GDP growth was even negative. Colombo looked like a wasteland with soldiers all over, poor infrastructure etc.. The worst was the fear and uncertainty that Sri Lankans felt.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the present leadership for ending the war, and bringing stability. All these other issues that some are discussing here pale in comparison to the destruction and anarchy that was going on during the 30 year war

I don’t see anything wrong in investing the money that would have been otherwise wasted on fighting a wasteful and senseless war, on developing infrastructure and the cities. It may increase the debt but at least some tangible results have been achieved such as the road network, city beautification etc leading to increased tourism and investor attention . No one can deny that our economy is doing much better that it was during the war years.

If the war was still continuing, everyone here will be either singing a totally different tune or hiding under their beds in fear.

We should all unite, put away our political and personal agendas of hate and petty mindedness and give peace and stability a chance

“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the present leadership for ending the war, and bringing stability”.

You don’t owe to the crooks and war criminals.

However you owed to Hindians who persuaded Chanrika to take on the LTTE and provided all kind of necessary support including training, loans, intelligence, on the ground military advisor, etc.

This was acknowledged and appreciated by Head of the clan and his siblings.

Hindians had made a point albeit an expensive one, it is they who pull the string in this island.

How, when, why, where, …….. ?

Nobody can be blamed for MR family strength and their activities more than the Tamil’s anti-Sri Lankan stand. Secondary to winning the war and MR’s unyielding stance on fake accusations of war crimes, rape, discrimination, land grab etc. etc. by separatist Tamils and diaspora, most Sinhalese majority have strengthen their support to this family.
If the aim is to kick him and his family out at the next elections the Tamils need to think as Sri Lankans and work with the Sinhalese majority. Offensive path the Tamils are taking now not only devoid them of their goals but strengthens MR clan and leave SL badly damaged.

    • 1
      2

Eusense, do you know who should be blamed for MR family strength, its Prabaharan. He took money from Rajapakse and asked Tamils not to vote at the elections. This resulted in Ranil loosing his votes. One reason why Rajapakse killed Prabaharan when he was holding a white flag was Rajapakse was scared that Prabaharan will let the cat out of the bag. One day with proof its going to come out.

        lankan,
Are you surprised that politicians indulge in this kind of acts? What ever said and done MR did end the terrorism aren’t you glad about that? Who knows if Ranil was there we could be still fighting this brutal war with more innocent civilians dead. My hunch is Ranil would listen to western advice and let the terror continue.

      3

Nobody but huge part blame should be taken by you guys that stay in supportive mode of MR admin. Impact of latter is more than the tamil´s anti srilanken stand for sure. WIthin the last 5 years, what DID not they do to show that they are the powerful men of this island ? Land grabs, all kind of abuses incl. killings, tortures, rapes and various untold methods were their exercises to control own folks – again and again. Same tactics that they applied for ages were introduced to the rest of the country – promoting impunity directly through their so called MAYORs, Ministers, MPs, PS MPs or anyone they thought were suitable to go for their agendas. None of them were clear about the danger on long term, but they just reacted. Today, the state´s out cover remains as democratic republic of srilanka -but anything and everything have been made by might of the thugs making people´s parliament a battle field destroying the rights of opposition candidates. People accuse the opposition of doing not enough – but all legality provisions have been secretly converted onto their side – as things wuld not work easiy even if powerful opposition would react.
Taking the examples of the recent issues related to 3/5 Tones of Heroin into the country – with the direct mediation of the PM office, and arbitory killings of Rathupasswala/or yatawala and several other similar issues – people shold raise the question what have they investigated and where have the final reports gone ?

      • 3
        0

        samaa,
Why do You say I support MR administration? The only thing I support him is for ending the Tamil terror war. I too want to end his reign. What is your solution for those bad things that you list are happening in the country? Terrorism like the Tamil LTTE? The only way to solve this, I believe should be only through elections. As long as the Tamils like you keep accusing him of fake genocide etc. the Sinhalese are going to support him. If you are dreaming of separation by the next President I feel sorry for you.
Land “grab” whether in the north or south I support it if it is for security and development of the country. Do you support it?

You got it fully wrong my dear..I did not expect anything else either. THis has always been the case with you and the ilk. Besides, I am not tamil.. I am born sinhalase, today, I call mysef a srilanken/european citizen. I inform myself about the country – and the issues going on there today through various sources. So, you cant always accuse any sinhalaya would go against the prevailing injutice and hegomony of being tamil diasphora or the like groupings. There are increasing masses in the country – may be belong to majority are very unsatisfied the way the current regime gets on with any kind of important issues.

          a) Durg and alcohol problem
          b) House destruction and gaining for their kind of project by making new problems to those communities like one from the Wanathamulla
          c) Security and justice of the people – today almost everyone is clear that there is no justice in this country – nor have they a rule of law; they the authorities themselves promote impunity
          d) President go with usual RASAKATHA rhetorics to keep the vulnerable masses, like you further fool, MANY of them are miles away from facts and figures. I myself read it on CT and several other platforms – the reason why the many candidates in Ruling party became millionaires are because of commissions abused by them telling something totally different to the innocient people.
Road and building constructions have become their own commission bringer to this day.

          e) How come a minister be able to buy his son a LAMBOGINI if he has not had done any kind of illegal businesses ? Why teh bribary commission or other so called their own commissions not to take up all these aas real issues and bring accountablitiy reports about all the accussations have been rejected by them: President continues his Rasakatha – to the very same audience…. .. this has no become a jokers place…
But I believe anyone that has lived by might and injustice – have been punished – according to our history… That will be the case MR too… DAYs ARE NUMBERED. wAIT and see.

            sama,
You say “You got it fully wrong my dear..” but you don’t say how or why! You keep repeating MR regime’s corruption.
First, answer my question to you (What is your solution for those bad things that you list are happening in the country? ). You say MR’s ” DAYs ARE NUMBERED. wAIT and see”. How is that going to happen? through elections or LTTE type terrorism? You seem to know I guess!
I challenge you to show anything I say is wrong.

              0

Man I really dont know how I can wake you up. I have not lived in the country for the last 30 years. So I feel, You are not a baby or retard either not to have got it yet. This kind of naive questions, would not have been raised even by 10 year olds of the day ?????

If Rule of law and order by implementing 17AMd with all other necessary steps were established, nothing like today´s messy situation would have been arisen. Rule of law he could better impelement by using his power, if he is genuine with his efforts bringing a sustainable peace to all of us. They seem to be abusing 2/3 mandate to get passed all other abusive laws of their choice, but not to do the same with highly alarming issues – questionable to everyone.
And not touching judiciary as has been the case to this could win the hearts and minds of all folks regardless of race, religion or other factors. People across the country I believe today want is only stable peace. That is it.
The way the bugger to give a call to war victory was an another big blunder. I listend to Balaya of this week on the you tube yesterday and got to know how visonless the topleadership should have been to go for such thought provocations like Matara war victory ceremony.
Believe or not it is human – that the victimized would never agree with anything so long some justice is given to them. Nothing like crime investigations have been carried out sofar is the biggest mistake.

Fortunately, I did not loose any family ones neither through war or tsunami, but if I had, I would always fight for them. That is the same with nothern citizens that keep in dark not giving the rights them to know where their lovely ones are gone in the war end PHASE.

                sama,
What are you repeatedly jabbering? Haven’t both of us agreed that MR regime needs to be ended? Haven’t you still realize that he is not going to do what you or me want him to do? Isn’t the only option available is to vote him out of office? or Do you think people should rais arms like the LTTE did?
Your stance on loss of lives at the end of the war is unfair. What did the LTTE do to protect them? LTTE should have surrendered or swallowed cyanide capsules long before May of 2009 so that such loses won’t happen. What do you think, isn’t it that if you raise arms not only you but other Tamils may have to face the consequences too. Did you write or protest LTTE terror activities prior to 2009?
Now, please if you are going to answer my post do so. I do not want to hear a litany of MR corruption anymore!

Another great piece of analysis by Tisaranee. Yet I doubt if Gota will ever contest from Colombo as Colombians are more educated when they cast their vote and Gota is the last candidate that comes to their mind if he contests from Colombo.

Colombo is still a strong UNP seat and it will stay same. This is Gota’s way of misleading public. Infact Gota will contest from his home town Hambanthota “Muda nogath palatha” where it’s easy to manipulate and rig votes.

Sri Lanka is Rajapakses only sole survival destination. There’s no other country they could think of living in the face of war crimes. Therefore they will do everything under the sun to stay in power.

The wind is fast bolwing against Rajapakses both at International and locally and unless all opposition parties unite and promote a common opposition candidate now to win next Presidential elections, they all will have to eat cow dung for four more years. Let’s see who will do what.

      Lasantha ,

“Yet I doubt if Gota will ever contest from Colombo as Colombians are more educated when they cast their vote and Gota is the last candidate that comes to their mind if he contests from Colombo. “

i wouldn’t bet on it lasantha , have you forgotten how Colombian vote at the last general election ? case in point , 3 rd grade , ill educated con artist Weerawansa aka Modawansa managed to beat decent, university educated Gentleman Ranil comprehensively at the last election ! what about the latest WP election results , how did Hirunika , udaya G managed to get Hundreds of thousands preferential votes from well informed colombians ? when it comes to voting , except NP , whole srilankan grass eating masses would love to go with the flow in other words popularity , perks and stupid public stunts are the main criteria of selecting their idols , unfortunately this trend will continue until they realize they had been fed “punnaku & grass ” as their staple diet for a long time by their respective idols.

Mark my word , if Gota were to contest from Colombo or any where for that matter , he would get the highest preferential votes by convincingly beating all the other veteran politicians.

Whether Lankans like it or not, the only way they can avoid the impending disaster of islamization of the country through sheer numbers by higher birth rate and Lanka becoming a fanatic Jihadi stronghold it to let the Rajapaksa or similar group rule the country. Narendra Modi knows that too.

The rest of the discussion is irrelevant.

Neither is NaMo going to make Pali a classical language.

The best NaMo could do is bomb the shaglag island and let India rule the wider Indian Ocean. Xi thinks the same of small nations and he did not mince his words with Obama either.
The Islam of asia has always been peaceful until the interference of Roosevelt the mofker.

Go back under the rock you came from as you are not fit for any chamber of Asia.

      NO.

The best way is to PIT Jihadists against Tamilians.

It will soon happen in Colombo, etc.

      Thanks to Modi.

“The best way is to PIT Jihadists against Tamilians.”

For Jihadhis both Tamils and Sinhalese not only look the same both are infidels.

You will be their first enemy. No way you could runaway from them or hide behind your women folks.

        Look after your butt.

        Tam Madaiya:

It has been tried and tested but not by external factors. Hakeem the Jihadist has fallen at the feet of the Tiger Leader Sambanthan. It is an unholy alliance thanks to Modi who made it possible. You are not as stupid as I thought.

Look at it like this. Quick fix to get rid of the guns, terrorist, goons etc the Shaglag Island has to be bombed by India like the creation of Bangladesh.

The north was bombed and now it has selected a man who has no politics behind and no dynastic aspirations. I doubt the Sihala majority has anyone with the balls to win and if the person wins the EP will continue for posterity. Sihala Buddhist and its Greed- it is always the case with the majority.

At present it is just a Shaglag Island totally infested so let India bomb it incessantly and let a new chapter in the civilization commence – no past constitutions, no tatte’s (go sit under tree) religion has no place in the governance (less public display of religion best) no racist parties that would inevitably create terrorist of freedom fighters on all sides.

Even the west finds it difficult to patch the nations it has intervened.

    Tamil Elam is accursed.

Unless Tamils leave Colombo and go back to Jaffna, etc. there will never be any solution.

    TG:

It is a great picture and it has revealed something which the Sri Lankans have not known up to now and that is they are led by two individuals who are born BLIND. No wonder they cant see the suffering of their subjects.

**** Death is the great unpredictable. Mahinda Rajapaksa, like anyone of us, may live for decades or die the next second. And if he dies/becomes incapacitated while in office his presidential-shoes will be filled by the prime minister.

Sri Lanka is blessed to have a system making it possible to have a quick transfer of power in the event of the Unthinkable happening to the King.

What an impressive array of talents.

King Manhintha accused of Genocide waiting to be tried
Gotha wanted by the US authorities for money laundering

The Prime Minister accused of Drug Dealing.

I am sure the world is envious.

There is a basil element also for gota to get into politics which he says he hates.I have noticed that basil and he are working in opposite directions on many issues. For example gnanasera thera attacked basil publicly as a muslim supporter while gota is his patron. There are many issues like this on which the brothers don’t seem to eye to eye including the all important ethnic issue where gota is very hardline.

Gota’s way of showing basil that he cannot make decisions without consulting him is to enter politics so that basil cannot influence mahinda on issues that gota is passionate about.I believe that though gota is a go getter who gets things done, basil has a better brain.
