This is another big black mark for srilanka.Another reason why the noose will tighten every year around the Rajapakshe’s necks.Imagine the purple shawl being used to throttle,that is what will happen one day because they are thumbing their noses at everybody and going on in their merry way.The lasantha murder will never go away and may be the final nail in the coffin one day.

i don’t think Richard had the prominence of lasantha.Also i think he had friendly relations with JVP which would have not made him popular in western circles.Lasantha of course was their blue eyed boy and will not be forgotten.lasantha fought fearlessly against government whether Chandrika or mahinda and built up a name as a fearless person who exposed malpractices and corruption.I don’t think Richard was in that category and also lasnatha’s murder falls into a circle of large unaccounted murders and missing people which warrants an international investigation.The number of media personnel who have been killed ,beaten up,abducted and missing and chased out of the country is staggering.So you got to look at the complete picture with lasnatha’s murder like the beacon leading the rest.

Agree you can never compare Lasantha Wickrematunge with dezoysa maybe vijaya kumaratunga but Lasantha was the most influential voice in the country and galvanized the opposition he was the bread and butter of the unp and was the face of media in Sri Lanka he will be honored forever and will remain a top class act forever
