Sajith Premadasa, the son of former Sri Lankan President R. Premadasa, was awarded a degree certificate by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as a Bachelor of Science (Economics) in International Relations after sitting only his first year examinations while his father was the President of Sri Lanka, the Colombo Telegraph can reveal today.
The London University has given him what is known as an Aegrotat degree on August 01, 1991, the LSE today told Colombo Telegraph. The relevant LSE regulation states: “the candidate may be offered an Aegrotat degree if satisfying the School under Regulation 45 but not recommended for an Honours or Pass degree. The candidate has the right to accept or decline the offer within a reasonable time specified by the School from time to time. In the event that the candidate has re-entered for examinations, the offer will lapse. An Aegrotat degree will be unclassified.” This means that Premadasa’s degree is not even equal to an Ordinary (Pass) degree.
When Colombo Telegraph made enquiries from LSE on October 02, it said, “Our records show that Sajith Premadasa graduated from LSE with an undergraduate degree in international relations in 1989. We do not allow students to graduate who have not completed their course of study.”
Today, however, the LSE confirmed that the former President’s son was given an Aegrotat degree in 1991, and not 1989. The LSE said they had read the Colombo Telegraph story, “Exclusive: Sajith Premadsa Only Has Sick Degrees From UK And US, London Uni Carrying Out Further Investigations” and apologized for giving wrong dates previously and the delayed reply.
In his Facebook page Sajith says; A graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE) and Political Science of the University of London, his degree covered the areas of economics, politics and international relations, an education that served him in good stead later when he launched himself as a grassroot politician.
Speaking to Colombo Telegraph last week, Sajith Premadasa maintained that he completed his degree and that he obtained his degree from the LSE. When questioned in detail, Sajith Premadasa acknowledged that he had only sat for his first year examinations at LSE because he had been sick with measles and then a paralysis of his legs, which prevented him from sitting for further exams.
The aegrotat degree is a British tradition of awarding a degree to a candidate under the presumption that he or she would have satisfied the standard required for that degree, if not for intervening circumstances such as serious ill health or even death. An aegrotat degree is therefore an exemption to the normal definition of a degree as an honours degree with a classification or a pass degree without classification. A British honours degree has the following classifications: first class honours (1st); second class honours, upper division (2:1); second class honours, lower division (2:2); or third class honours (3rd). A pass or ordinary degree has no honours classification. Following the introduction of modern regulations regarding mitigating circumstances, aegrotat degrees are less commonly awarded than they previously were.
Several questions arise in the light of today’s revelations by Colombo Telegraph. Why did the LSE previously state that he graduated in 1989 and why did it maintain that he completed his degree? Why did the LSE change the date of graduation and the story with regard to Sajith Premadasa’s degree after the Colombo Telegraph published its first story? What is the explanation for the discrepancy in the dates of graduation between 1989 and 1991? If as Sajith Premadasa has admitted to Colombo Telegraph, he only sat for his first year exams, then does he qualify for the award of even an aegrotat degree as per the LSE’s regulations reproduced above? If Sajith Premadasa was so seriously ill that he could not sit for any further exams after the first year of his three-year bachelors degree, then how does he claim that his LSE education served him in good stead later when he launched himself as a grassroot politician? Sajith Premadasa has recently expressed his own future presidential ambitions, and in this context, he has also claimed that he entered a masters course in Maryland, but even if he was able to do so with aegrotat degree, how was he able to travel to the US and begin another course of study if he was too sick to properly complete his first degree? “All these issues need to be investigated” an academic told Colombo Telegraph on the condition of anonymity.
The Colombo Telegraph can also reveal today that Sajith had edited his Facebook page and Wikipedia page after we interviewed him last week. The LSE 2nd of October commented; “Further to your call and this email, this is just to confirm we are carrying out further investigations into our records to establish the exact status of Mr Premadasa. This will require consultation with the University of London, the awarding body at the time, who hold the original records. This may take some time.” When questioned Daniel O’Connor the acting head of press said; “I’m afraid we cannot be certain. We are following this up with the University of London who house the relevant archives.”

Sajith by the stupid and inane things he utters has always struck me as lacking in even a modicum of intelligence, so I am utterly UNsurprised that he FAILED to get a degree from LSE, but that he told lies to cover it up means that Sajith must be forced to RESIGN from the UNP committee and must be stripped off all party posts for lying and bringing disrepute to the party.
Meanwhile, the clown Ranil must resign and hand over to Karu and Rosy who would be a winning team!

Sajith Premadasa has lied through his teeth and should be sacked from the UNP. What a disgrace!
Of course this does not get Ranil Wickramasinghe the shameless UNP dictator off the hook. Ranil MUST RESIGN and hand over to others in the party like Karu, Rosy Senanayake and Sujeeva Senansinghe.
Sajith is an UTTER DISGRACE (like Dr. Mervien Silva!) and is certainly NO FIT to lead the UNP party never mind become the President of Lanka.
This has to be the END OF Sajith Premadasa’s political career. Not only is he known for treasure hunting and stealing in hambantota he is also a LIAR and this certainly cannot be countananced.

You should know better than anybody else that Rosy is not at all suited to be the leader of the UNP . She was a partner of a string of businessses which went bankrupt . She has no education , her integrity is questionable , and after all , you can’t fool all the people all the time !!
/
Samare / October 9, 2013
Man, have you seen where Rosy was mediated in debates and discussion to rule out that she is not capable of doing good. I have no idea about her education, but the way she looks at matters are very professional. She is non-buddhist but you guys should not stand on her way – blocking her talents. I have no doubts. Hers could help lot to gear up the UNP power in the country.
Quoting from your comments:
“She has no education , her integrity is questionable , and after all , you can’t fool all the people all the time !!”
So what is your response to what MR has long been doing ? Is he not fooling the VERY SAME NATION ? When Mervin was that abusive, MR just ignored, not just once, many a times, people raised it – but very same people seem to be helping him further….. That lies not on leaders, but on OUR STUPID PEOPLE.

But the folks of lanken would not differentiate this.
That is to be healed by clean media mechnisms.
See, Dayasiri was among ones who highly criticised UPFA regime. But people have voted him even after he was bought by UPFA lately. This is the nature of THIRISANNU – Majority folks in our motherland. Remedy: would be inform those naive masses adequately. JVPers, UNPers and all should work for that continously. Else, we will all become loosers.

The underworld and other unsavory operators would be more than happy to finance such a candidate and may place at his disposal the machinery that they can command to create murder and mayhem and a reign of terror which was what this particular aspirants father very successfully delivered.

The President in her official bio data released to the media has claimed she has a Political Science Degree from the University of Paris. The claim is she was a graduate from the highly prestigious Sorbonne.
The Sunday Leader in 2000 exposed Kumaratunga for her big lie and stated categorically that she never attended Sorbonne or graduated from the university of Paris. That it was yet another barefaced lie by the President.
She made other grandiose claims of educational attainment as well, most of which were figments of her very fertile imagination.
Letter From Sorbonne stating Chandrika was not a student in that university, The letter from the institute in Aix-En-Provence stating Chandrika was there for one year and The letter from University Pantheon, Assas Paris II stating Chandrika was not a student there.

CT is confusing me.
He was a given a degree by LSE.
Does not that mean LSE was satisfied that the guy should be awarded the degree. He was qualified for it.
If LSE was satisfied, why should we bother?
Forgive my ignorance on these matters.
PS: I am no Sajith fan.
/
srilal / October 9, 2013
Ben ,
He was awarded the Degree for only one reason , that was sajith happened to be SL president’s son ,i’m sure SL High commission had found a work round (Donate a Large sum of money ) to fix Sajith Academic problems. Didn’t you notice LSE officials cover up attempt? why did they try to change the year as 1989 ? remember Gadafi offspring’s P.hD from LSE ?
/
David Blacker / October 11, 2013
Are you suggesting that the LSE was bribed to issue a degree?
/
srilal / October 11, 2013
when this Sajith bloke admits that he had only finished the first year and dropped out , is there any other explanation ?
/
David Blacker / October 14, 2013
My point is that the LSE has said that it has issued a aegrotat degree, implying that this is part of their system and awarded under certain circumstances, and that Premadasa’s degree was within these circumstances. Why do you believe that this particular degree was the result of a bribe?
/
srilal / October 14, 2013
i’m sure they ‘ll use this special circumstances to cover up the mess , if you have followed up Gadafi’s P.hD scandal , you should know what the real circumstances are for the rich & famous !
by the way why did LSE initially stated , the degree was awarded in 1989 , if the Degree had awarded in 1989, sajith would have started his degree either in 1987 or 1986 , wasn’t it to cover up the Premadas’s tenure as president , remember Premadasa became the president of SL only 1n 1989.
/
David Blacker / October 15, 2013
What has the beginning of Premadasa sr’s presidential tenure got to do with Sajith’s graduation date? The LSE has said it made a mistake on the initial 1989 date. Is there any reason to believe that they lied and didn’t simply make an error?
I am quite sure that politicians are capable of falsifying educational qualifications or exaggerating them (as CBK did), but I am curious as to why you believe that there is corruption on the part of the LSE in this case.
/
srilal / October 15, 2013
you don’t get it , do you ? let me try once more , if not lets leave it as is ……..
if Sajith’s Degree had been awarded in 1989 , Sajith would have started either in 1986 or 1987 , during 1986 or 1987 R.Premadasa wasn’t the president of SL , which means LSE had less bearing on Sajith’s candidacy !
subsequent to Grilling from CT and other journo, LSE had to admit it was indeed awarded in 1992 , in other words Sajith was given the so called Degree by the LSE while his dad was the president of SL , LSE was truly exposed by CNN and other world news channels on Gadafi son’s P.hD scandal , then what did the LSE officials have to say about awarding a P.hD degree to Lybiya’s leaders son , they shamelessly admitted receiving large some of money as a DONATION . (Exchange for a P.hD Degree )
PS : yes you can go on arguing endlessly on this issue , as for me definitely there is much more than an Aegrotat Degree !!
/
David Blacker / October 17, 2013
Maybe there is much more, which is why I am asking questions. Why are you getting so defensive?

The fault lies with LSE,not Sajith. These kind of special degrees should never have been awarded in the first place as it is an obvious loophole for corruption and privileged people getting degrees and I’am sure that sajith is just the tip of the iceberg.
You can’t expect sajith to be explaining to people that he has only a special type of degree and not the normal one and its value is less etc etc.As a human being he will not be doing that and devaluing what he has received. For example if let us say hayleys promotes a clerk as an executive, but he still continues to do his clerical duties only,he will tell everyone that he is an executive at hayleys, which is true, but will not mention that he is only doing clerical duties. That is human. The fault definitely lies with the organisation, not the individual. They should have forbidden sajith from stating his degree without in brackets mentioning Aegrotat.Like putting in brackets Hons,Aegrotat would have sounded an additional qualification like he was someone who could fly a plane too. When asked what is Aegrotat Sajith could have just given a superior looking smile as he is not compelled to answer that.

“The fault lies with LSE,not Sajith.
“aegrotat “ pertains only to social sciences.
Sociology is neither an art nor science but impulsive.
I cannot agree with you that LSE is wrong but I would say Sajith lied thinking it was a white lie till he was found out. Sure any professor at LSE would agree LSE is for the stinking rich but they are following well laid out procedure which commonwealth countries do when it comes to “social sciences” .
Brackets have been used by students (especially professional degrees) who are unable to pass within the stipulated time due to various reasons. They work for less pay generally in government service where certificates are a must for the particular job. I have seen people come back after 5 years complete the left subjects get the qualifications then get full pay.
The Deputy PM of Singapore (Tamil of Indian origin) passed out from LSE initially then went on to Cambridge etc etc. He can talk the hind legs of a donkey and not a katte pittu like sajith so please go ask him.

“Anyone else notice that Dayan Jayatilleka has dropped his “Dr” title in his recent articles….why I wonder!”
I agree with you about Dayan. A couple of days before 2nd Oct Dayan commented on the forum that Sajith is the best prepared for the post of President because he had qualifications from Graduate qualifications from LSE, Masters from Maryland and had apprenticed under a US Senator and that is very powerful (Dev you may know the exact article) Is Sajith the NGO that rajapassa is talking about? Dayan has a qualification in “political science” (politics is sandwich with lies while science is the exact opposite) Folk mistakenly mix up knowledge with wisdom and call him “intellect” as if he is Einstein.
All these qualifications come from arty farty grass root politicians- social scientists that are very good at writing sleeping pills. In the continent UK is known as the land of associations.
“I guess birds of a feather do flock together !”
So is this why the khelwatta boy who went to borella decided to hide at meeharak tota next to the monster rajapassa and family.

Re Dayan dropping the ‘Dr’ title from his articles:
It is absolutely NOT the done thing to sport one’s doctoral degree (as quite a few people do here) in an article in the popular press,* etc., unless, of course, it is of particular relevance, in which case it would probably be referred to in a note clarifying the writer’s academic position or occupation as well.
*Very few academics use their titles in such cases. Judging by local practice, it seems to be mainly people who are NOT permanently in academic positions who resort to waving their doctoral degrees all over the place. I have even seen some insist on putting Prof. before their names on the title page of books — again, just not done.
Moreover, in most countries, honorary degrees are NOT used as titles before names, either. If used at all, they are placed after the surname, & clearly identified as being honorary. In Sri Lanka, however, all these different doctorates have become confused & no one knows which are honorary & which have been earned ‘academically.’ And the title ‘Professor” now also hides the lack of a doctorate in many instances. My recommendation of Sajith is as the next leader of the UNP and its Presidential candidate, not necessarily as the next leader of Sri Lanka, as that’ll depend on what the overall situation is and the choices before the citizens are at the time.
My recommendation that he should be party leader and candidate is assisted by the following figures:

As for his qualifications, I’d like to see what his response is because there are usually two sides to a question, so the jury is still out. My recommendation was not based primarily on his academic qualifications, which I don’t think have been the main criterion of the performance and contribution of Sri Lankan politicians from DS Senanayake through Madam Bandaranaike to R Premadasa and DB Wijetunga. I also recall the controversies surrounding the actual academic records of President Kumaratunga and Mr Anura Bandaranaike.

Upul / October 9, 2013
Lets get to the bottom of all this shall we????
Who paid for his UK education?
Did he complete his basics at any school in Sri Lanka?
What is his opinion of someone who claims false qualifications?
Does he think he can manage a small business on his own, without his father’s ill-gotten earnings? If so, what business?
What productive exercise has he ever undertaken, for which we Sri Lankans can allow him to claim credit?
What religion does he follow today?

Hi- AEGROTAT – In simple english this means a “medical certificate” Sajith was sick (as usual) and submitted a MC from (not from a wedamahattaya)could be a Sudda, English Universities have a system issung these type of certificates. This man not fit to be a head of our country. Compare to this Ranil was in the Law Facultly-University of Colombo and then passed Advocates’ at Law College and so on. Never submitted MCs. Ranil W is a student of distinguished professor GL Peiris. bye-nihalg

C. Wijeyawickrema / October 9, 2013
Sajith can ask Mervyn Silva to arrange for a doctor title. That way he can overcome all these troubles.
This LSE thing will be his election nightmare. It will by pass his father’s record used against him.
No wonder there is a rumor (?) going on that both Sajith’s mother and sister gave up Buddhism and embraced evangelism, and Sajith married to a Christian rich family from Australia.
With this record Ranil W looks much better. He does not have an inferiority complex.
/
percy / October 9, 2013
Mr.Wijeyawickrema
His sister was converted by Madam [Edited out] many years ago . It is not known whether she was successful with the others in the family .
His wife is a Buddhist girl from Kandy . Her mother migrated to Sydney after Sajith and Jalani married.
At this point in time , he seems to be a better option than Ranil . There are others who are also suitable , like Kabir Hashim , Eran Wickramaratne , Harsha De Silva , Sujeewa Semasinghe , but they have no public appeal and the (m)asses will not vote for them . What is important now is to get a new face that will give the people some hope .
/

The only blackmark against Ranil is the horrible Batalanda murders he was supposed to be responsible for. Otherwise he is a cleran-suit man -For him, no need to buy Prince Andrews castles with pilferred state money or talk big about coming from an aristocratic family that washed the white masters undies. And to compare him with a someone with a pseudo degree who claims succession rights to the country because of his murderouis fathers notoriety is simply laughable.

GAMINI, To be fair by dayan, I think he did a damned good job of shoring up Sri Lanka on his watch in Paris, brilliant at times though perhaps lacking a just a little bit in accuracy [ ?]. But throughout, i think all must agree that he struck a sound balance between national imperatives[ as he saw them] and his own sense of
integrity and political morality,
Had he compromised entirely in relation to TRUTH, I have no doubt that he’d be our envoy in the US or perhaps London or the EU where we have mere apologists for the government and NOT AMBASSADORS FOR SRI LANKA.BUT HE CHOSE TO NOT SACRIFICE INTEGRITY ON THE ALTAR OF POLITICAL OBEISANCE. BY THAT HE WOULD HAVE INDEED COMPELLED THE ENTIRE DIPLOMATIC WORLD TO SIT BACK, TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT SRI LANKA AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT NOT EVERYONE IN SRI LANKA’S DIPLOMATIC SPHERE ARE THE PRESIDENT’S LICKSPITTLES. AS A RESULT, HE WOULD HAVE SURELY KNOWN THAT HIS ENTREE INTO THE DIPLOMATIC CIRCUIT WAS PREMATURELY ENDED. AND DID NOT CARE A DAMN. I REMEMBER FAINTLY HIS FAREWELL SPEECH IN pARIS JUST BEFORE RELINQUISHING OFFICE THERE AND IT WAS REPLETE WITH TRUTH AND INNUENDO THAT THE GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE DONE WELL TO AGREE WITH BUT LACKED THE MORAL FIBRE TO DO SO.
DAYAN COULD HAVE EASILY COMPROMISED AND HIS FRIEND GLP WOULD HAVE WHISPERED IN HIS FAVOUR IN MR’S EAR. HE CHOSE NOT TO AND THEREBY KEPT THE HONOR THAT’S DUE TO HIS FATHER, THE UTTERLY UNIMPEACHABLE mERVYN DE SILVA.
SO LET’S GIVE HONOUR WHERE HONOUR IS DUE. BY ALL MEANS LET’S KICK AN ASSHOLE WHERE IT HURTS BUT TO SLING MUD WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION AT MEN OF ADEQUATE MORAL FIBRE THAT DEMANDS APPLAUSE IS NOT WORTHY OF TRUE COMMENTARY. LOOKING AT IT OBJECTIVELY, I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF MR INTENDED THE SWEARING IN EVENT TO BE A STAGE SET FOR DAYAN , WIGS AND OTHERS TO MEET AS AA FIRST STEP TOWARDS EXPLORING AVENUES AND ALTERNATIVES FOR A FUTURE GOVERNORSHIP OF THE NORTHERN PROVINCE
Because of this, I feel he commands the respect of all right thinking, men whO can put aside petty-mindedness and be objective. To do otherwise would be tantamount to being intellectually frivolous [ if you wil forgive that oxymoron]
OF COURSE HE DID NOT WALTZ IN THERE. DON’T BE BLOODY NAIVE AND PUERILE. LET’S NOT FORGET THAT DAYAN HAS A LONG HISTORY OF COMMITMENT…AND AN IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF PROVINCIAL COUNCIL POLITICS, THE ETHNO-POLITICAL NUANCES IN PROVINCIAL GOVERNANCE, THE SENSITIVE ISSUES, THE WORLD VIEW NEEDED TO STEP BACK AND MEASURE DEVELOPMENTS OBJECTIVELY AND WITH MODERATION,…. AND BE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTORY PLAYER IN THE VEXED PROBLEM OF EXPLORING SOLUTIONS TO THE NATIONAL CRISIS.
CAN YOU DO ONE TENTH AS MUCH ? NO ?
THEN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU MUST DO. I DON’T NEED TO SPELL IT OUT HERE, DO I?
i LIKE WHAT THE COLOMBO TELEGRAPH DEFINES TRUTH TO BE…A PROCESS.. AND IT’S GOOD THAT WE HAVE THIS FORUM TO GET OUR TEETH INTO THAT PROCESS…SANS RANCOUR, PREJUDICE, UNWARRANTED ANIMOSITY AND OTHER NEGATIVES.
WOULDN’T YOU AGREE SIR ?
BY THE WAY, IF DAYAN WAS HUMBLE ENOUGH TO ‘MEEKLY CRAWL IN THERE’ AS YOU DEROGATORILY PUT IT, I THINK THAT TOO TAKES A MORAL STRENGTH I WOULD APPLAUD. I DON’T THINK DAYAN ‘NEEDS’ TO BE LOOKING FOR A JOB WITH THE GOVERNMENT WHEN HE IS EMINENTLY QUALIFIED TO LAND A TOP POSITION IN ANY LEADING UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD.IF AT ALL HE HAS ERRED IN THE PAST I GIVE HIM THE CREDIT FOR HAVING DONE IT IN GOOD FAITH.
I’D SAY THAT ON HIS WATCH AS AN ENVOY HE BACKED SRI LANKA BRILLIANTLY, BUT UNLIKE OTHER ENVOYS, NOT AS A LACKEY BUT WITHING THE AMBIT OF TRUTH AND INTEGRITY. UNLIKE THE OTHERS HE DID NOT MAKE A FOOL OF HIMSELF BY CITING BULLSHIT DICTATED FROM COLOMBO TO BUTTRESS LANKA’S CAUSE. HE EARNED THE UNGRUDGING RESPECT OF THE GLOBAL DIPLOMATIC CORPS BY SHEER INTEGRITY.
I AM NO FAN OF DAYAN BUT AFTER 40 PLUS YEARS IN JOURNALISM I CAN TELL YOU THAT YOU COULD BE MUCH MORE GENEROUS THAN YOU ARE IN YOUR CONCLUSIONS.
AFTER ALL, WE ARE SEARCHING FOR TRUTH AND THIS IS AS GOOD A PROCESS AS ANY THAT I CAN THINK OF.. THANKS TO THE CT.
NO OFFENCE MEANT GAMINI.

Children of most of our politicians have foreign degrees. We really do not know how genuine these degrees are or of their quality. But does qualification matters to become an effective and practical politician in our country. Absolutely not. Great leaders such as Hon D S Senanayake and Mrs Sirima Bandaranaike were not qualified people. Even Senior Premadasa was not qualified. But they have rendered yeomen service to the country. President Rajapakse did not have basic qualification to become a student of Sri Lanka Law College. What is required is to understand the pulses of the people and deliver. Sajith may be able to do it when the time is opportune. We need not destroy budding politicians like Sajith or even for that matter Namal just because their parents are/were politicians and we have some anonymity towards the Parent on political grounds.

“Sajith can ask Mervyn Silva to arrange for a doctor title. That way he can overcome all these troubles.”
What has qualification got to do with political aspirations and politicians being elected to offices?
Why do you people make all these big fuss about this poor boy Sajith who made just one false statement on his website whereas the whole country is a living lie?
He gave what the country is obsessed with, insatiable appetite for qualifications from a good foreign uni.
Wisdom and honesty do not come with qualification.
I suppose you have to renounce both to be a successful politician in this island and elsewhere in South Asia.

I don’t think that a degree is a pre-requisite to doing well in life, unless its in a specific profession – like a doctor, lawyer, engineer, marketer, accountant, pilot etc.
Having said that, most politicians in the highly developed countries do possess a degree. Otherwise, in most cases, they wouldn’t be elected in the first place!
In Sri Lanka unfortunately, we seem to have a surfeit of pseudo lawyers (thanks to Sirima allowing parliamentarians watered-down law courses!!), pseudo doctors (awarded by the University of Kuppiyawatte!)and just downright liars claiming degrees that they never got!
How sad!!

WINSTON DE VALLIERE / October 9, 2013
Why is it that I smell RANIL lathered all over this hype ? If a guy could get away with the word “MISUNDERSTATEMENT” as George Bush did and still remain Prez of the most powerful nation on earth, heck, I think Sajith is more than eminently qualified to be Prez of Sri Lanka…certainly far more eminently’ qualified’ than Ranil who hasn’t the balls to achieve ANYTHING APPARENTLY BECAUSE OF A MORBID FEAR OF CATS !
AMUSING THAT THAT OTHER GUY WHO SHARES THIS FEAR OF CATS AND IS FROM THE SAME TRIBE OF ‘PED-O-GOGUES’, MANGALA SAM CAME OUT WITH A HUGE BOOSTER ESSAY ON RANIL IN THE PRESS AT THE SAME TIME THAT THE CT WAS ENLIGHTENED TO FIRE A BROADSIDE ON SAJITH. HAS THE CT BEEN UNWITTINGLY USED ? MAYBE NOT. BUT THE PRO-RANIL PROPAGANDA BURST AND A SIMULTANEOUS RUBBISHING OF SAJITH ARE JUST TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENCE TO BE CONSIDERED TO HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTAL.
Stinks of a pre-planned thing to me.Mind you, this suddenly breaks out immediately after Sajith announced his presidential aspirations.
All this merely exposes the undercurrents of fear gripping the pro-Ranil UNP and the MR camp in connection with Sajith Premadasa’s political aspirations.
This smear campaign is in fact an acknowledgement of the magnitude of danger that Sajith poses to the political aspirations of his detractors in the UNP and in the government.
Now that he has revealed his aspirations his life is on the line and one hopes he fully understands the extent of the danger that he has exposed himself to now.Lasantha was killed for much, much, much less. Sarath Fonseka was hounded for much less. One really does not understand why men of the caliber of Karu J and Ravi K help keep Ranil at the helm. The man is such a colossal failure that there perhaps is no politician who has been for as long in politics anywhere in the world who has also been such an abjectly pathetic apology for a leader. It’s really a joke that is more nauseating than sick homosexuality is to a straight man or woman.
May I leave readers with something to chew on ? Are those who vote for Ranil UNP supporters or are UPFA supporters also asked to vote for him to ensure that the government retains him endlessly as the Opposition leader in the house and as leader of the UNP? Worth a thought don’t you agree ? Just consider how lakhs of SLFP votes suddenly went to Dayasiri and not to SLFP candidates who’ve been working for the province? Such sudden, overnight turns around are simply too good to be true.
You can be sure that this is just the beginning of the smear campaign against the man who can be a real threat to the Rajapaksa Presidency and the family’s hold on power.
If Ranil dies today what epitaph would the UNP leader get from the electorate ? What would his 20year leadership have bequeathed to the UNP, to the nation that has the right to expect a proactive and responsible opposition?.If the people cast their votes on a candidate’s merit, he would certainly lose his deposit. He did not even have the balls to enter the last presidential fray. He kept away not to enable Sarath Fonseka to win but to ensure that MR does not lose.
There are plenty of fishy things happening right under your noses, but as the saying goes ” None are so blind that having eyes they do not see”.
Unlike Ranil, Sajith can at least get it up..what I mean is that sajith can get the UNP up, to its former glory. As my man Friday at home puts it succinctly in Sinhala ” Sir, Sajith mahathya wedak denna puluwan minihek, eya mara PORAK . Ponnayek nemei”. Touche ?
He certainly knows who to vote for, irrespective of whether it’s a degree holder or just a diploma holder.
/
gamini / October 10, 2013
Sir, Sajith mahathya wedak denna puluwan minihek, eya mara PORAK . Ponnayek nemei”.
What a qualification in the eyes of Winston De Valliere and also boasts it to the readership here as a great achievement? Need I say more?
/
winston devalliere / October 11, 2013
Ye gods ! touched a sore point did it ? So you’re one of those pathetic apologists who votes for that inconsequential non-starter Ranil Wickremesinghe and hence resents Sajith’s comparatively superior public rating, capability, charisma and potential.
By the way, the pithy language used by my man, I believe, merely expresses the thought that Sajith is a man of potential and not given to effeminacy. Your weird thinking has of course led you to conclusions that one would expect of a ‘queer’. Tell me, is your real name, by some chance, Mangala Samaraweera ?. Else, why should ” wedak denne puluwan minihek” unsettle you so much ? Or was it the word “Ponnayek” that rattled you up your ar,e, bottom, butt or backside ?.
Curiouser and curiouser. I was boasting of nothing to the readership. I was merely stating a truth about how even the ordinary man perceives SP.And yes, I agree that Sajith’s ‘macho’ [ wedak denna puluwan minihek] compared with other who are achingly effeminate. with a thrice proven track record of total impotence as a political leader.
/
gamini / October 12, 2013
Winston De Valliere, your ordinary man may have perceived such, as ‘Wedak Denda Puluwan Minihek’, which you claim you were not boasting to the readership but only telling the Truth. Afterall why not, the father was good ‘Wedakaraya’ with his comrade Sirisena Cooray.
So this is what you rate as, Sajith’s comparatively superior public rating, capability, charisma and potential. I need not say anything. I will leave it for the Readership to judge.
I can well imagine your caliber, why you do not favour Ranil Wickremasinghe type as he comes from a different background to govern a Country and certainly not to give the works to people, like the present white Van guy. Kudos to you.

Really don’t know what your grandmother told you about my father to make you so bitter about me. Is it because you were dumped in Gongitota Balika Vidyalaya while I studied abroad ? Anyway, my dad always had fond memories of her.
She even chose to give you a French name, SEE ?
Apparently Ranil has been quite a “bosom’ pal of yours and you don’t seem averse to therefore back that pathetic fellow.I suspect it’s not so much because he’s from a ” different background’ but because it’s got something to do with your back- round, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN !
Chee, Chee, Does that satisfy you ?
Sajith, to the contrary, is the kind of man who is no queer and , like his father, does not give a hoot for scum with “backgrounds”.
Do you have the foggiest idea of Ranil’s hilarious political “background “. Heck, if it gets into Guinness IT WILL BE THE SOLE ENTRY THAT NO ONE WILL BELIEVE.
BY THE WAY, WHO GIVES A SH.T ABOUT BACKGROUNDS ? AS wINSTON CHURCHILL PUT IT ” MANY A BASTARD HAS COME OUT OF NOBILITY AND MANY A NOBLEMAN HAS COME FROM THE GUTTER”
THINK SAJITH WOULD EVER HAVE ENTERED INTO A CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT AS RANIL DID ? THAT TELLS YOU WHO THE BASTARD IS AND WHO THE NOBLEMAN
IS.
BY THE WAY, DID ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY NOT TELL YOU THAT MY GG GRANDFATHER [LIEUT.ABBON DE vALLIERE], WAS A SOLDIER WITH THE ‘DE MEURON REGIMENT’, RECRUITED BY THE BRITISH IN CEYLON,WAS SENT ON A MISSION AGAINST KANDY LEADING 100 MALAY SEPOYS, ALL OF WHOM DIED OF MALARIA WITH JUST A HANDFUL MAKING IT BACK TO COLOMBO, INCLUDING ggf ABBON, WHOSE TOMBSTONE WAS FOUND IN THE gALLE FACE CEMETERY.[ SEE ‘TOMBSTONES AND MONUMENTS”]
A VERY HUMBLE BEGINNING AND ONE I AM PROUD OF.
BUT DO TELL OUR READERS WHICH STINKING HOLE IN SOME BINTENNA GRAVEYARD YOU CREPT OUT OF ? BECAUSE RANIL’S ‘BACKGROUND’ SEEMS TO IMPRESS YOU NO END.
THE SHIFT TOWARDS SAJITH IS SO FRIGHTENING TO HIS DETRACTORS THAT I WON’T BE SURPRISED IF MR HAS HIM AND MANGALA THROWN INTO JAIL JUST TO CREATE AN EMOTIONAL SWING BACK TO HIM AND AWAY FROM SAJITH. HOW BLOODY STUPID. THESE INEPT ‘HOMO-SAPIENS’ ARE NOT EVEN CAPABLE OF PULLING OFF AN ATTACK ON A PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION.To use a French word, Ranil’s just a ‘blagueur’,
cAESAR CRIED ‘ LEND ME YOUR EARS.’
CHEE !! BUT I DON’T HAVE TO TELL YOU WHAT RANIL’S CRY IS…. RIGHT ? IT MIGHT HURT YOUR BLOODY SISSY SENSITIVITIES , RIGHT ?
FOR SOME REASON MY MIND GOES BACK TO MY BOY SCOUT DAYS WHEN IN THE SCOUT MASTER’S ABSENCE WE SANG ” FOR KING, FOR KING, FOR KING AND CUNTRYMEN” ENDING RAUCOUSLY WITH ” OUR SOULS ARE GAY TODAY, GAYER THAN YESTERDAY….” YOU KNOW ?Sung to the tune of ‘Santa Lucia’.WONDER WHAT IT IS ABOUT YOU AND RANIL THAT MAKES ME REMINISCE ALONG THESE LINES. LILTING MELODY THAT, and then we switch to the marching tune ” oUR SOULS, OUR SOULS, AH-SOULS, ARS-OULS, ARSE-OLES ARE GAY TODAY.. ” Oooh la la!
By the way, I take umbrage at your using half of the pseudonym I used a long time ago. Just use the “napoleon” if you don’t want your soul to be in peril ok? I last used it to pen a tribute to Lasantha in the “Lanka Standard” titled ” The Doctrine of Slaves”.
Unfortunate that he sympathised and backed a nincompoop.
Listen sonny, apart from ” different background” don’t you have anything else to SAY, [GODDAMIT]! to RANIL’S CREDIT ? HOW QUEER OF YOU !
Au plaisir de vous revoir badaud !

I really cannot understand why a country like Britain, resort to this kind of deceitful practices. They bend their rules to accommodate and give recognition to individuals violating standards set by them alone. Now we all know that anyone to enter Britain has to satisfy certain criteria. But to individuals as Somawansa Amarasinghe who escaped from Sri Lanka at the height of the JVP Insurrection found his way through India to land in the UK where he freely resides without doing any job since and continues to shuttle between the UK and Sri Lanka with no restrictions. Similarly here Britain advertising as the seat of learning issues bogus Degree Certificates with ulterior motives? Shame Shame indeed?
