Northern Province Chief Minister C. V. Wigneswaran today declined President Mahinda Rajapaksa‘s invitation to join the delegation which would leave for Delhi to attend the swearing-in of Prime Minister-elect of India, Narendra Modi.

Writing to the Minister of External Affairs, Professor G.L. Peiris, the Chief Minister said; “I regret to inform you that I’m unable to accept your kind invitation. Primarily, because acceptance would indicate that exists a strong co-operative spirit prevailing between the Centre and the Province, when in fact, the People of North are engulfed in a climate of fear on account of the continued presence of the Military while the activities of the Northern Provincial Council have been stultified. I would be guilty of facilitating token were I to accept such invitation. Nevertheless I have already sent my best wishes to the Prime Minister Elect of India through the High Commissioner for India in Sri Lanka.”

It is an auspicious sign that the historic election of Shri Narendra Modi has revived in the Government of Sri Lanka a sense of co-operation and partnership towards the Northern Province. Given the untold hardships of the Peoples of Northern Province and the strictures on the functioning of the Northern Provincial Council, this is indeed welcome.
However, I regret to inform you that I’m unable to accept your kind invitation. Primarily, because acceptance would indicate that exists a strong co-operative spirit prevailing between the Centre and the Province, when in fact, the People of North are engulfed in a climate of fear on account of the continued presence of the Military while the activities of the Northern Provincial Council have been stultified. Please read Chief Minister Wigneswaren’s (CVW) letter carefully: “I reply having considered your kind request in the company of my Board of Ministers.” This sentence says indirectly that he wanted to go but was prevented from doing so (by the TNA). He was not even allowed to write this letter independently. He was compelled to write it “in the company of his BoM. As reasons, CVW says “because acceptance would indicate that (there) exists a strong co-operative spirit prevailing between the Centre and the Province, when in fact, the People of North are engulfed in a climate of fear on account of the continued presence of the Military while the activities of the Northern Provincial Council have been stultified.”
This BoM’s main intention is to show the world that there does not exist a strong co-operative spirit between the Center and this particular province and Northern people are living in fear!!!!! The letter points out as the main issue being the Military presence in the North. All Sri Lankans including Tamils know what fear means when the LTTE was actively present throughout Sri Lanka before 2009. It’s the armed forces that rescued approximately 300,000 Tamils from the clutches of the LTTE at the tail end of the war in May 2009. We also know that a country’s security can not and should not be compromised. It is the country’s president who, as the Commander of the Armed Forces, decides where the country’s armed forces should be stationed, not the provincial chief ministers. We hear reliably from countries like Malaysia that the LTTE is still not dead. According to DBS Jeyaraj, Gopi’s story is not a teledrama! We all like to live in peace.
It is easier to criticize President Rajapaksa’s government from the cozy living rooms in Canada, USA, and Europe, but the reality is that more Tamils live in the South among and with their Sinhalese brothers and sisters and it is an undeniable fact. (Recently, a Tamil boy ran away from his abusive father in the North! Where did he go to? He went to a Sinhalese friend in the South!). Many readers probably don’t know that Chief Minister Wigneshwaren’s sons are married to Sinhalese girls! Let the average Tamil people do the same! There is no room for ethnic divisions in modern countries.
I watched the entire ceremony of Modi’s swearing in ceremony on NDTV; listened to commentaries as well; (there was no mention about Jayalalitha’s nor CVW’s absence at all.)
President Rajapaksha’s hand shake with Prime Minister Modi was friendly and cordial. Honestly, CVW missed the opportunity and hence the Tamils. Regrettably, Tamils in Sri Lanka have missed so many opportunities since they thoughtlessly listened to their gullible politicians. The Sinhalese as the majority do not listen only to one set of politicians; they investigate and change governments depending on the circumstances. Unfortunately Northern Tamilians have become hostages of their own politicians; and ironically CVW himself is a hostage of this northern vicious circle which is political and democratic in appearance but self-destructive in reality.
We all know that minority issues in Sri Lanka are not really issues that have emanated from within the people; they are mostly created and sustained by various interested parties in order to make a living. This does not exclude some of those who contribute on a daily basis to various websites. And unfortunately,these websites do not exclude Colombo Telegraph either!

Pointless to talking ot this kind of ones. They are trained to be do so. I really dont know why. BBS is now made silent by some actions taken by the govt. So ist the case with Mervin the vermin and his activities. But why is that they let it grown until no easy actions can be taken. Why Mervin was abused to take the lives of innocient people. Why other unknown kind of criminals are being promoted by them to this day, in a no law situation… why only to focus their family rule.. nothin beyond that.. why is that they seem to have no brains that the people´s problems have gone up to alarming levels.
I myself know why people to have thrown their lovely ones crocodile floating river nilwala. Had the great soldiers braveries failed, what would have been with those infants … what have been the case with many that survive on bittergaurad eating .. not having the essentials to feed them with. .. why only the surface of the sobana developments projects are given the publicity intending to misguide the nation.
No doubt any govt has done something.. but what matters is the percentage..

Has this Vellala CM made the biggest boo boo in his short political life?.
Brahamin CM in Tamil Nadu wouldn’t have been too keen to bend down to a Shudra , and take orders, although he is now the PM.
But Vaiko a fellow low caste at least should have shown solidarity by going to the inauguration.
Instead he played petty politics to please the Diaspora and the LTTE proxies in Srilalanka.and became their attack hound
But he bit more than he could chew and ended up in the dog house in Delhi.
The new PM wouldn’t forget that for sure,
As much as he will remember the silly excuses of the Vellala minnow, in SL, who had a fab chance to make some impression but totally goofed it under pressure from the LTTE proxy cabinet lead by the LTTE leader and Prabakaran’s one time God father
The new PM would have received some briefing about the Vellala CM praising the LTTE Leader as his Hero at his own inauguration or soon after.
And the fact that his leader hasn’t still apologized to the Indian inhabitants for the killing of their favourite son by the LTTE.

This guy Wigneswaran has once again demonstrated that he is a prisoner in the hands of the LTTE cronies both outside and inside Sri Lanka. He and his TNA will not get the expected support from the Modi government.
Wigneswaran has shown again that he has no political acumen. He lived in a world of statutes and law books and never had the capacity to understand politics or diplomacy. He has no clear thoughts or actions over Tamil political issues. One day he will call Prabaharan a great hero and another day he will call him a dictator. These are not the utterances of a man possessed with clear thought processes.
TNA will not be able to continue with their blame games any more. Modi government will now compel TNA to participate in the Parliament Select Committee proceedings. If TNA leaders wants the support of Modi government they will have to listen to New Delhi and attend Select Committee proceedings.
With the election of Modi government, the winner is Mahinda Rajapakse and SL Government.
Modi government will not be listening to Tamil Nadu leaders on the question of SL Tamil issue. National interests of India will be more important to them than concerns of sections of the Tamil Nadu population. They would like Sri Lanka on its Southern flank to come into India’s fold. MR will have no problem with that provided New Delhi promises to reign on the Tamil separatists in TN. Whether Sri Lanka gets along with New Delhi or not, Modi government will sooner or later put an end to the increasing influence of the money power of LTTE cronies in TN. Those Tamil Nadu leaders and parties that live out of the hands of the LTTE cronies will be put out of action and even jailed for their separatist agenda. They will be seen as a threat to India’s security interests and even to the unity of India. New Delhi will have to deal with not just the TN leaders with a separatist agenda but with thousands of former LTTE cadres who managed to escape there before and after Mullivaikal. Malaysia has started dealing with former LTTE cadres. According to one knowledgeable source, some 5000 former trained LTTE cadres went over to Malaysia before and after Mullivaikal.
Vaiko is a cipher and with his stupid demonstrations in New Delhi at the time Modi was ascending to the throne in the Indian capital he has lost whatever sympathy he would have had with the BJP leadership. Even Vijay Kanth and Ramdas were muted in their opposition to MR attending Modi’s oath taking ceremony. They studiously avoided any drama over the issue. Vijay Kanth even went to the extent of justifying the invitation to MR and got into the good books of BJP leadership.
