Minister GLPeiris quotess the ‘data’ obtained by UN office personnel in sri lanka from 167 citizens, and concludes that all citizens enjoy full human rights.
He appears unaware that anyone speaking with ‘outsiders’ alone,is an impossibility in the northeast.
They dare not speak the truth lest repercussions follow.
Similarly, the views of women on prevalence of sexual abuse quoted by him,are flawed.
This is why the Colombo UN office appears to have ignored its own ‘survey reports’,and Minister Peiris had to hand over a copy to Ms Pillay.
Ms Pillay has become aware that citizens with whom she spoke, have been visited by state personnel, before and after the events.
This has convinced her that there is no freedom of expression in the northeast.
