Bodu Bala Sena’s General Secretary Galagoda Atte Gnanasara today filed a Fundamental Rights petition seeking the court’s intervention to prevent his arrest.
The FR petition was filed through his lawyers. Gnanasara has gone into hiding claiming that there is a conspiracy to assassinate him.
On May 25, the police claimed it had deployed several units to arrest the firebrand monk, who has been charged for inciting racism against the Muslim community. However, the police is yet to apprehend him. Last week the police said it had arrested a supporter of the BBS who is believed to have set fire to several shops owned by Muslims.

IN CT news of 11 June the police said that the suspect arrested in connection to several arson attacks on Muslim shops in Nugegoda and Wijerama areas is a resident of Maharagama and has been identified as a member of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS). But BBS denied any links. If and when Gnanasara is taken into custody BBS will deny any links! Gnanasara’s fear of assassination is real. He must tell the Supreme Court that the assassin is from inside.

When the Hawaii judge gave the order against the Trumps’ travel ban, he didn’t ask for any submissions or any another evidences from the defence team of the agrived party. Same will happen to Buddhist police personnel and lawyers – both private and state – who apprehend, produce in court and lead evidence against a monk.
This happened to those involved in cases against Buddharakitha and Somarama Theros in the SWRDBandaranaike murder case, but this is not well known.

Supreme court should kick his case out and immediately arrest him when and where ever he is spotted. Those who are harboring him, irrespective of their positions should also be locked up without bail for harboring a community thug. He should never be given any bail and should be locked up at least as long as Pillayan is in custody. If Pillayan can be locked for such a long period there should be no reason for this thug to be given bail. Ministers Sagala and Wijedasa should be given 3 weeks to catch this thug and remand him, if they do not achieve this end, these two ministers should be fired from their post. Let Yahapalana prevail. The latest decision by the court in support of The Thero has cemented his Authority of him ,over Buddhism, Sinhalese of all Christians and Buddhists and of cause the die hard support of the Hindu Community.

There is no need for people like Gnassara to come up, if only Srilanka government acts to curtail Islamic fundamentalism that is creeping into the country. Most of the Buddhists feel that government is not doing enough and will back such people. Muslims must be told in no uncertain terms that this is a Buddhist country and they will have to fall in line with Buddhist customs.
