Secretary to Ministry of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa has pledged to wipe out the drug menace in the country in a style similar to how the Rajapaksa regime dealt with terrorism.

He has pointed at the sudden disappearances of various underworld leaders and stated that it bears evidence to the level of effectiveness with which the government is dealing with the drug issue.
“There have been underworld leaders with various names. . . Wele Suda, Kimbulagala Gune, Thel Baala, Ice Manju . . . where are these individuals now? We don’t know whether they are to be found in Sri Lanka or abroad,” he had stated.
Gotabaya had made these remarks during a ceremony held on Thursday to award permanent positions to those who were employed at the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation on a contract basis.
Meanwhile, he had stated that there is no point in appointing commissions to find means and ways to solve issues such as the drug menace as they would be made futile when those being probed begin bribing the Commissioners as well.
“Many are highlighting issues concerning corruption and rule of law in the country. But it should be kept in mind that these are not issues emerged during the tenure of President Rajapaksa – these are concerns that he had to deal with just like the war when he was appointed as the President,” he had said

There may some suspicion arise what will be the status of some high profiles like CBK, Sampanthan….but after the election, they will be reduced to rubbish. There would not be any all-inclusive, umbrella drug clearing operation will be needed to deal with them. After the election, if Ranil is still outside, his name may or may not go into the list. That is 50/50. If Fonseka misbehave during the election, no longer America can save him. I did not understand from the news media’s yet why Sobitha Thero lied about meeting the government. But there is a chance that he is already taken care in the same way Wateraka Thero, and no need another operation after this.

Kimbulagala Guna (real name Wijayaraja)along with others is languishing Chennai prison. His associate Sekar (Masilamany) is alleged to be languishing in Singapore jail. Both undertook many murder contracts from the terrorist organizations and some politicians and eventually ended up in jail. There were other associates (in all three races) who all had secret links with the terrorist organizations. Both there are Parayas (I am sorry to state) of Hill country Tamils who were settled in Kilinochchi and finally at Kimbulaga (Modera). How many women were made widows and how many were left on the road. I think we should thank Gotabaya Rajapakse.

Never too late to take on the long outstanding task of cleaning the drug dealers who have quietly but surely infected our country. We should not knock Gota for this initiative but wait to judge him by the results. Of course the true test will come when our Gota goes up against the King of Kelaniya, the Fresh Prince of Kolonnawa, and others, close, and well known to the Southern Brotherhood (if not most Sri Lankans). I am not quite sure of the reporting of the statements.
The law as it is, provides for the death penalty for drug traffickers and sone are under death sentence. What is happening to them? It is reported that some of the reputed under world drug traffickers have gone missing. How? Why were not they brought before the law? Is it because now, if you can spare fifteen million bucks, which they have, you can get bail even for large scale trafficking?
The problem with this type of statement is that if you say that you are solving the problem of drugs, extra-judicially, then that it self is damning evidence that the war against terrorism was won, not necessarily according to the International or local laws. Oh! My God! A peace of evidence for the HRC committee on investigations.

When the war was going on from 2005 to 2009 i can understand that he would have been totally focused on the LTTE and as a result many other pressing issues would have been neglected.Even after the war 2009 and 2010 i can give some allowance because he would have been involved in post war resettlement,demining etc,but what about 2011,12,13 and 14?

This PRATTLE has nothing to do with the drug business. It has everything to do with GORA’s contingency plans should the Presidential Election looks like not going the MaraGoraBara way.

There are a few things you can start doing:
Start cultivating the rank and file in the Armed Forces. There are many among them who have been wronged by the top brass. Make it known that the Brigadiers, Generals and other high ups, who are the lickspittle of the Rajapaksas today, will be brought to trial and disposed of. Make it known that a large number of named individuals lower down will replace them with unbelievably high rewards.
A corollary to this would be to identify high rankers in the other branches of the government muscle. For example publicly threaten Mohan Peiris and a couple of others in the Judiciary known to be Rajapakse stooges with dire consequences, and also announce great rewards for members of the Judiciary who “maintained high standards”.
Similarly with the Police, Civil Service and Corporate Sector. Regarding the private sector, eg Gora’s Apollo Hospital called by some other name today – promise to nationalize it. Similarly with large commercial establishments owned by the Rajapakse cronies, threaten nationalization, closure or what have you, and promise the stooge owners with tax enquiries, prosecution and jail for their unsavouryl business transactions . Promise to hand over the Management of these enterprises to Cooperative Societies, with profit sharing by the public. I know these ideas are loosely worded but we have plenty of experts in Sri Lanka who can implement them.
The Opposition Parties must promise from today and make sure, that from seven days before the presidential elections, all the airports, minor airstrips, seaports, boats, yachts and small craft will be occupied by hordes and hordes of demonstrators to stop the terrorists running the government from fleeing the country.
Promise the People that the MaraGoraBara Trinity will at all times remain under seige; that they will be able to escape only over your “dead body”. Make double Mara and Gora remain surrounded by your own mobs and will not be able to flee the country. Tell the People they will be hounded and that you promise they will not be able even to piss without guards keeping watch on their dicks. Promise the People Mara will be tried by Peoples Courts on Galle Face Green with proceedings broadcast live.
The key to getting the people on your side, will be to disclose full details of MaraGoroBara financial rackets, commissions, kickbacks, and the secret profits made with Chinese collusion from so called MEGA PROJECTS.
Initiate compiling a list of criminalities committed by MaraGoraBara, and their cronies. Make it available to the General Public with full details and proof of the commission of those crimes. Lanka E News, CT and like minded publications will I am sure oblige with free publication. Educate the public. Enlist patriotic minded officers in the Defence and Finance Ministries and lower grade officers in the Army Navy and Police, the Corporate Sector and Private Sector to provide information about the financial terrorism of the Unholy Trinity. Show the Electorate how they have been raped for the last ten years, starting with the robbery of the Tsunami Funds.
To get the enthusiastic support of the electorate you will need to name the individuals who will lose their heads, and those whose heads will be crowned. CT readers do not need to tell me this is bribery and intimidation. I know. But one has to use the methods of the marauding terrorists in the Government in order to get rid of them. No Choice.
Promise the People that after the MaraGoraMara Trinity is deposed that you will install legislation, providing punishment for politicians caught with the hand in the till, that will ranging from a minimum of 10 years jail time to hanging in public depending on the severity of the thievery. To save your own arses you may stipulate that the New Order will take effect after MaraGoraBara and their cronies have been punished, and for crimes committed after taking office under the New Order.
After the shit is wiped clean, we can set out to reinstall law and order, to guarantee a country governed subject to the Rule of Law for future generations.
The other condition is to make the people angry and frothing with the ruling regime. Make them compare the misery they go through on a daily basis just so they keep body and soul together, with the decadent opulence of the Rajapakse family and cronies. Use the AKD formula. When all of the downtrodden suffering masses start salivating with the prospect of delivering punishment to Mara and his crooks under the new order, and enjoying some degree of dignity and prosperity for themselves, the Rajapakse crown will already have been lost.
Thinking people know this will be a do or die battle. Our side has to win: otherwise Sri Lanka is doomed for disgrace and annihilation.

If Sri Lanka is serious about drug-related crime she should look at the examples of Uruguay and several states in the USA where recreational cannabis has been legalized (in addition to medical use). Prohibition does not work, and results in cannabis being supplied by criminal networks.
The problems of injecting drug use and amphetamine abuse are primarily medical problems and there should be political awareness of the role that the pharmaceutical industry and medical profession play in worsening the problem of drug addiction. There is a clear link between starting children off on stimulant drugs (used for ‘ADD’ and ‘ADHD’) and later addiction to speed (amphetamines). Both amphetamines and heroin, as well as the widely abused benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax etc) are highly addictive, and were the products of the Western pharmaceutical industry. Not so Cannabis, which has been smoked and eaten around the world for thousands of years.
Cannabis grows well in Sri Lanka and if the trade is made legal it will free the police to deal with the problem of smuggling and distributing heroin and amphetamines. The role of the medical profession in worsening drug addiction should be addressed by discouraging the over-prescription of addictive drugs by doctors in the public and private health systems and public awareness of the addictiveness and dangers of these drugs.
