Gotabaya Couldn’t Protect A Bike From Thieves, How Could He Win A War Asks Fonseka

In an open attack against former secretary to the ministry of defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Field Marshall and Parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka declared that when Rajapaksa did not have the capability to protect a bike from thieves, how can he command a 200,000 strong military force to win a war.

Fonseka

Fonseka

Delivering his inaugural speech in Parliament on mid week, Fonseka went on to claim that at the time Rajapaksa left the army the LTTE was only using ‘galkatas’. “So on what basis did he have the experience to strategize the war to win against the LTTE?” he questioned.

“Gotabaya ran away from the army, he begged Ranjan Wijeratne to relieve him from his military duties, and then went to the United States. I met him there, he was doing tinkering work and told me life was very tough. He didn’t even have a vehicle, and so one of my friends lent him a bicycle,” Fonseka said.

“But one day Gotabaya came and told my friend that the bicycle was stolen, so my friend asked why he didn’t chain it, then Gotabaya said he had chained it to a ladder, but the robbers had taken the ladder and bicycle with them. This is the sort of people who say they were the ones who won the war,” Fonseka, the Former Army Commander claimed.

Fonseka, who is also a also a cabinet minister in the current government, said that even though Gotabaya Rajapaksa had written a book on how he won the war, Fonseka claimed that a person who left the army way back in the 90s, and had absolutely no experience in the field where modern warfare was used, had no capability to strategize the win against the terrorist group. The book was documented by journalist C.A. Chandraprema.

“We were in the war front every day for 35 years, we served at various levels, and we were even shot at, that is how we gained experience, and we didn’t run away from fighting in the war like Gotabaya did,” Fonseka charged.

The Field Marshal also claimed that a person who didn’t possess the sufficient ground experience did not have the ability to strategize and win a war and give leadership to a 200,000 military force.

“First he did tinkering work in the US, then he was a computer operator for 14 years also in the US, and then suddenly he came to Sri Lanka and taught the military how to fight the war and win it. Then I too should be able to go and order engineers around and teach them how to do their job. But, you can’t do that, because you need experience and without experience you cannot carry out any task successfully,” Fonseka added. ( By Munza Mushtaq © Colombo Telegraph )

Sarath Fonseka the whole world know Gotha did not defeat LTTE. For that matter neither did you. Let’s go even further Sri Lankan armed forces did not defeat LTTE.

LTTE was defeated by combined superpowers of China, India,USA,Pakistan, Israel,UK,Australia assisted by the corrupt Secretary General of UN Ban Ki Moon and ably supported by the prostitutes who sucked the cocks of the likes of Karuna

SF, why don’t you tell that to these keyboard warriors by the name KA Sumanasekera, David Blacker, Jim Softy, and many others. Gota is a bloody coward, thief, megalomaniac, murderer, organ trafficker………………………….definitely NOT a soldier.

    This is becoming interesting.

I am looking forward to reading his book. If you need a copy please feel free to buy one, I am willing to reimburse the cost only on one condition. Promise me you won’t tell Gota nor your brethren Tamil From North.

By the way, would you consider going out with ramona mad grandma therese fernando? Like you she is also lonely, distressed, probably never had experienced a hug from a opposite gender, …. spent cool evenings sitting arm in arm, …. riding in the back seat of a Harley Davidson holding a man under his belly, …..

I am only trying to help her and of course you.

      Dear Native.

You seem to be obsessed with both sexes nowadays.

In your condition, you should be going to the Kovil, break a few coconuts and pray to Siva instead of thinking about Ramona.

If was SO So so funny, Field Marshal. The man who can’t protect a borrowed bike claims to have protected a country!!

There were suggestions that probably Fonseka had something to do with Prageeth’s death. But, he wants that death also to be probed. Now that he has opened up the floor, Rajapaksas can spread their stories! I heard that the split was due to disagreements with respect to how to share the loot, cash, gold and girls. We are happy to hear mow.

Sarath Fonseka openly talks about the timing of the government claim on the victory and the death of LTTE supremo. He wants the alleged ‘excesses’ to be revisited. He says the armed forces should not take the blame for certain individuals. He has a point, right?

Then, Keheliya says if the white flag thing is restarted, ‘Sarath Fonseka will be the first one to be caught out’. So, openly Keheliya concedes that those with white flags were unfairly shot! Then, he leaves another cat out. Fonseka will be *the first* to be caught out. Who is the second and the third??

Now Mahinda Samarasinghe wants to know more. Plot thickens!!!

Also, Sarath Fonseka says that Gota was doing some odd jobs in the US. Okay, he was working in a university as a systems guy, but that does not pay a lot. Can Gota explain how he became a multi-millionaire (in dollars, pounds and euros)?

Not sure whether it is Prabaharan’s ghost or Balachandran’s ghost, or even Nadesan’s or Pulithevan’s… But, certainly thousands of civilians who were killed in 2008-2009. LTTE didn’t kill that many, and see what happened to them. Imagine the collective karma on Rajapaksas and the co-killers.

But, certainly thousands of civilians who were killed in 2008-2009. LTTE didn’t kill that many…

Really? 30 year war and the LTTE didn’t kill that many? How old are you? from the sound of it, it appears you were not in an age to understand what was happening before 2005. Keep your hate to Gota, that’s your prerogative of free thought. But you have no right to undermine what sacrifices it took to win the war

Lot of people knew who ordered white flag killing and killing of Baby Balachandran – HR blame on SF is like telling to the police that the thief is not hiding into the bush. Eventually the truth will come to the surface. SF went to jail because he refused to lie – he should be promoted and provided with all support to wipe-out all unwanted criminals and their supporters rich or poor. I do not want to come back even for a holiday to the present srilanka but wanted to see my old paradise soon. Singhalese are good people but hot tempered one-way and easily used by bad people like JR,MR etc.

In the very first speech, he has revealed enough. There he has asked to go for investigations in terms of Lasantha s murder. He asks for an investigation for White flag, and he even ask govt to appoint international experts. All these prove that the SF is open to anything. All others that have made every effort not to be open to International community should have dead bodies in their zeller.

No matter SF has no years long collected exp in lanken politics, but this man and speeches are authentic. He has nothing to loose. Some would say he want to see a revenge. That cant be.. Rajapakshes are the ones that went on revenge going beyond lanken law and all ethics annd morals People have right to know the ground realities of the war from SF at least now.

We ve been waiting you SF to reveal more about the truths. Then only people that have been intoxicated by Rajapakshe lies can finally see it right. Jaya niyathai. We the right respecting nation of this country (eventough the minority) respect RW and MY3 to have appointed SF to the parliament.

But to me sure, SF will loose his nerves while looking at the slow mode the current bunch is on in terms of taking actions against the bunch of thieves. I could not see it anymore yesterday why the govt stayed mum at the time, Maharaja spoke out telling the very same people that his govt was not a mismanagement. I there thought, any time now the current people would bring the facts so taht the man could be marginalized for ever. Why they failed to do so is a greater puzzle to me now.
To protect their strengths they have to release the facts- THAT CAN earn them bonus for sure. Instead even letting the highly alleged Yoshita free can only send a message across that they are not capble of doign what they promised to. Rajaakshes shold be jailed out for all the high crimes being done by them. basta

What a Gem. Absolutely correct! This is a rare view to the root cause of split between these two former friends; one wants to be recognized as the leader of no experience and capability just because he happened to be the brother of the president, and the other the real leader who was being trampled by a pretender. View any photos taken during the war the then Gen SF visiting his men in the field; who was the leader at the front, head held high with confidence, and who was the one trailing behind in his long sleeved shirt.

    Field Marshall Sir,
pls leave the past regime alone, now. If you decided to come into politics to save the country then do it now.
The country is in dire straits, so please advice the Govt as to how they can clean up the present security mess and bring some sense of trust into the ordinary lives of the citizens even if it means eliminating the vermin. Bringing scorn on members of the past regime wont help in anyway. Please show us what you can do otherwise you to will end up like the rest. We are fed up of all this talk ” they did this and they did that and he was this and she was that.”

You can stretch a rubber band to the max limit and after that it will snap. Thats what the public is at present. If they snap its going to be a major disaster. Don’t let that happen.
We are counting on you. Coming colours no good.

The vendetta btw SF and GR is going to end up badly, for both of them. Everyone in between will also be squished.

Ugly ugly ugly. Hate hate hate. The Ambalangoda fisher talk. FM Fonseka ran after Gota and MR to get his extension after CBK refused it. He is clever but his ego and arrogance was his downfall.

Now he’s a Coolie to Batalanda Ranil. Only if Ranil heard what he had to say about Ranil when Fonseka was Jaffna commander. This man is hateful and vindictive just like the Rajapakse brothers.sad . He hated the unp leaders who ridiculed him. He was by no means honest. His former son in law made lots of money thanks to SF

the fact that he did such jobs in the US should not be held against him. There are many capable people who are doing lowly jobs like that because they were born in the wrong side of the fence.less capable people born on the right side of the fence may be holding higher positions than them.Gota got some of his own medicine because that is what the sinhalese bhuddhists did to others and that is why the country went downhill.Whenever there is no meritocracy a country will go downhill.Western nations are also now facing the same prospect because they are not utilising capable people due to the white superiority concept. When they were not facing fierce competition they could afford that.

There is no doubt from what i have heard from others that gota is respected as an administrator.he knew that he was out of touch with the field experience as fonseka rightly points out and that is why he picked the best man for that job and every year he had to force mahinda who saw competing leadership qualities in this man to extend his term.Fonseka owes his stalled career rise to gota.

Fonseka contributed most to the war victory, but gota also contributed. There were officers in the war front who also contributed even more than these two,but owed their success to fonseka, because he knew who was the best to lead the men based on ability, not seniority and he selected them.Last of all the guys who contributed the most of all are the military personnel.

some will claim credit with their mouths while others will with their lives.

    Dear Mr Fonseka,

You seem to have a very short memory. Let me remind you, it was Mr Gotabhaya Rajapakse who gave you the job of Army commander. (MR did not want to give you the job). MR was right, the job should have been given to someone with a sense of decency and gratitude. The job of the army commander does not end with the end of the war.

GR gave you the opportunity and you paid him back with lies and betrayal. Your an untrustworthy, unreliable, disgrace.

It looked an act stupidity and poor judgment on your part to stand against your boss MR after a famous victory. Plainly idiotic.

I have no objection to your standing for the office of presidency (or MP or anything else). It would have been better if you showed some political maturity, judgement and common sense by waiting for about 5 years, cultivated some political skills and then run for the presidency. You could have been the president now! But you screwed it up. So don’t be stupid again just do a good job as an MP!

Now, we know why Fld. Marshall Fonseka is brought into the cabinet as a minister. It looks like He is assigned to harass the Rajapakse family
and expose the dirty linen in public and probe into the period, MR ruled.
President/PM should rein in Mr. Fonseka as public cannot bear the cost
of ministerial salary & perks paid to a minister to settle personal enmity. General public is always at the receiving end and nobody is
there to look into their grievances.

This guy has ego bigger than anyone else. He could not even get along with the Navy Commander. How the hell in the world an Army Commander can claim a war victory without polical backing. Imagine Ranil was in power when David Milliband and French Foreign Minister came to Sri Lanka demanding the government to stop the war or when US was ready to send a ship to get the LTTE leadership out of the country. Could SF overrule Ranil and continue the war. Don’t think so. MR’s strength was definitely Gota. Gota was the coordinator. It was a collective effort and Gota led the effort as the overall manager of the war. SF was just a part. So it is wrong for him to dismiss Gota and MR just as it was wrong for MR to jail SF.

SF was rejected by people in last election and he came through the backdoor. He is shameless as other politicos.

Lot of the above brothers wanted to forget the past and move along but you can’t do that – Last Government have created a new form an army not listening to the government like in many bad Asian countries which is never happened in the past. They are still keeping their underworld and disturbing the new government, even after so much damage to the country they still manage to cheat people and moving outside like old kings, They still hope that they can cheat moias and come to power and loot the country again (if there is anything left to loot – definiyely Tamils lost everything), we can’t leave the huge amount of Gold, money etc.they have stolen-have to get them back, the present government is unable to control or reduce army and give the poor people’s land back and free surviving Tamils out of the jail – poor Tamils are inside while big Singhalese criminals are moving like kings. After all this destruction Tamils need a solid political solution with police and land power , police power to control drugs and crime created by MR – MR is responsible for all others blunder(Like in the west Gotha can escape on mental grounds). Compared to all others SF is the best, he carried out orders from paper pushers in Colombo, who were trying to claim credit. There is no end to the list of crimes Gothe made including mixing chemicals, killing, body parts, looting ……Who is going to answer – are these very minor crimes to forget – these to be added to text books.

I cannot believe some of the comments here. I can understand if you are an LTTE supporter. You hate Gota and MR. But others who say that MR and Gota did nothing to end the war are either lying to themselves or plain stupid. You can blame MR for corruption and nepotism but you have to give credit to MR and Gota for ending the war. No Army Commander can finish a war without Political backing (don’t forget Air Force, Navy, police(STF) and civil defense force). Just look at the recent history. You need a political leadership strong enough to absorb pressure from all corners. MR did just that.

          “Another idiotic statement.”

          Stupid is as stupid types.

“Not only Indians but also US and EU helped but then they wanted to save LTTE leadership under pressure from diaspora.”

Really, why did they fail to save the leadership of the LTTE?

The combined population of US (318 m), EU (500 M) and India (1260 M) with all their sophisticated weapon system were scared of militarily engaging in Sri Lanka because they knew Sri Lankan armed forces were commanded by the formidable Gota. Is that what you are saying? By the way at the time of war the population of this island was about 20 M.

Hindian army strategists were on the ground guiding the Sri Lankan puny army util they confirmed the death of LTTE leaders.

Were you reading only the Daily Noise at the time of war?

I am bit thick. It doesn’t mean I can’t read, see or listen.

          • 0
            4

Before you call soneone stupid make sure you cover your own backside. The US nor EU could directly influence the war of another country (US had other problems at the time), but it is inarguable that USA didn’t want the Sri Lankan army to succeed (OR in your words, the PUNY sri lankan army). Why? Because having our destabalized serves better with their military strategies and if needed they have direct influence over LTTE. Since Sri Lanka was relying on the support of China and Russia and Pakistan it was becoming a thorn in the side for USA/India. Yes, we were able to read and listen back in 2005 and we still remember how certain people organized peace rallys to disrupt the forward march of the armed forces. We remember how certain people called thoppigala just some woods. How cetain people said any buffelo can wage a war. Ironically that buffelo is sitting on the same table with them. You seem to think that EU could give two shits about our war, but son, it was big enough to make david cameron speak in behalf of the LTTE, a very unprofessional statement to make in a forign country. At the last stages of the war, Ranil and his cohorts were planning to make the EU reach out and bring in a trade blockage in order to help prabakaran live. Why do oyu think he had to be killed when chaining him up and showing to the world as a trophy would bring much more fame? Dispeccable thing to say you might think, but that’s how wars are (USA did it with sadam). SF is using the white flag incident for his own gain now. He was given the job of commanding the army because Gota knew he was good for the job. That is what good managment is about, placing hte right person for the right job. Nobody knew about SF until he was brought in by Gota. You have a hate towards Gota and all MR related poeple, i get it. But you can’t deny the fact that he was instrumental in winning the war. If that’s not enough look at the development he did in the Colombo city. You saying he didn’t make a change? IF you can red and listen, make sure you don’t have selective hearing and maybe read a little bit more

Excellent speech in deed. I have been taught secret can only be kept only if known to a single person. If known to more than one the truth will come out one day when these people starts fighting among them.

So it is a paradox of the century the truth and war crimes secret was revealed by no other person than the military Commander himself Sarath Fonseka. Not that he wants to help the victims but he wants to hurt his arch enemy Mahiinda and Gotabaya Rajapakse. This was the day all the victims were waiting for. Now over to you the UN.

SF is a tactical commander and a good one. Unfortunately SF is not a gentleman .

Gota work tirelessly to get the single command since Navy ran their show, Airforce did not even talk to the Army etc.. Poor Army and Navy that got butchered due to lack of central command and discipline. Once central command was activated, results were frighning since late did not know where and how next traps will be laid.
SL Special forces are responsible for the ltte’s downfall and whole Special Forces were backed by a another specialist group LRRT and possibly the most effective jungle counter terrorist group today.

Story about SF appointment as a Army Commander and downright protest that eminante from different quarters were true. Rejection came from both Army, Navy and Airforce. MR was neutral but some of his ministers were against SF due to his lack of manners.

Gota also tap into smart Sri Lankans that had excellent knowledge of latest warfare hardware and systems and one of those even responsible for Prabha’s communication intercepts . Stupid idiots left a hole in VSAT terminal to penitrate.
Gota also tap into Israel defence know how and got latest hardware via them even though Yanks refuse to supply them. Yanks knew Israel’s supplying to SL arm forces just turn a blind eye to the supplies.

Some how present UNP leaders are denigrating war heroes either from services or as civilian and this has to stop since there will be no next time for ranil and his poofter fm.
