Grandpass Mosque Attack: US Calls For Prosecution Of Perpetrators

“The United States Embassy is concerned by the attack on Grandpass Mosque on August 10.  This incident is particularly troubling in light of a number of recent attacks against the Muslim community in Sri Lanka” says the US Embassy Colombo.

“Targeting any place of worship should never be permitted and we urge calm from all sides.  We call for prosecution of perpetrators in this attack and an end to religious-based violence.  The right of all Sri Lankans to practice the religion of their choice should be protected.” Issuing a statement today the US Embassy Colombo further said.

I Think somebody has to inform US Officials that main culprit is US citizen and they don’t need other counties permission to prosecute their own citizen. Also don’t forget to inform them that he be charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity as well. If they need more they can take up Operation Katunayaka, Operation Halawatha, Operation Waliweriya etc.etc.

Lapatiya, precisely so. These American bastards just shout to drown anyone else getting involved and will do nothing to bring the buggers to book but will allow them to go Scot free, just like how they were let off the hook after massacring over forty thousand unarmed Tamils at the behest of the Americans. Therefore the US can not allow a probe lest they get exposed. What a Democratic Mockery?

Why should USA interfere Sri Lankan problem? It should be discussed and solve with in Sri Lankan. Attacking religious worship places against the humanitarian act and it should be stopped immediately from the state government. There should be proper law and order in the country to build the religious worship places. But unfortunately there are mosques and churches attacked by monks which has already approvals from the religious affairs ministry as well as the government authorities.
So, it is well planned job by the government and monks and thugs have been used to achieve it. But most of the Sri Lankan want peace and harmony in the country.

Those who are serious about peace and harmony must
act quick and start punishing those who are against
it.Within two years of ending the war on a separatism
struggle, attention has been drawn to Muslims,
A peaceful community which always stands by all govts.
It doesn’t matter why they stand by any govt and
      what matters is,it’s a peaceful community,scattered
throughout the country in small numbers. The trouble
makers are also small in numbers but bigger in their
names and because of that,it’s the responsibility of
the any govt to protect the weaker ones from a
visible and predictable danger of onslaught. So,one
should question the role of the incumbent govt
which is watching for two years without doing
anything to stop this imminent danger. Why???

There are cowards hiding behind war heroes. Police officers have been spectators in every attack on minorities, be it 1983 or the despicable events since December 2012.

Only an imbecile will believe his own putrid concoctions of imaginary events. Picture a Muslim minority being allowed to Bulldoze a Buddhist Shrine!

Muslims are not allowed erect a shed to offer prayers. That’s how tolerant you guys are and you claim that Muslims bulldozed Deegavapi?

Ven. Soma debated Ashraff on the same subject and conceded that he was ill informed.

But racists will not give up their Goebbelian lies.

Give us one one proof of anyone from Srilanka ever
visited this statue before its destruction, just in
the name of Buddhism! At least as a tourist? Only
when it was earmarked to be destroyed many knew of
a Buddhist statue in Afghanistan.Be grateful to
Afghans for protecting it until this unpleasant
incident happened under a regime which is already
punished by the outside world. Is that what you

Killing are synonymous with Islam. Just to show an example, Reuters reported that Violence marred the Muslim holy day of Eid al-Fitr in Pakistan on Friday with gunmen killing nine people in the city of Quetta while a guard in the capital Islamabad shot dead a would-be suicide bomber forcing his way into a mosque.

No wonder the United States has ordered non-essential staff to leave its consulate in the eastern city of Lahore because of the threat of attack. It has also warned its citizens not to travel to Pakistan.

‘The American Muslim’ reported that there have been regular objections to a local mosque being built or expanded. It also say, Mosques in the U.S. are becoming dangerous places. Perhaps Americans do not want Muslims to bring post Ramadan killings.

If you are to judge Islam by a terrible incident in Pakistan, then would you also say it’s fair for me to judge Buddhism by the terrible incidents in Burma?

Sir Winston Churchill has been recognized as one of the greatest men of the late nineteenth and of the twentieth century. Following quotes were taken from pages 248-250 of first edition, Volume II of Churchill’s “The River War”, published by Longmans, Green & Company, 1899.

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and
refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the
strong arms of science, the science against which it (Islam) has vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.”

Imagine how true Churchill’s thinking in today’s context.

Pathetic! Sir Winston Churchill seems to be really ignorant of the religion of Islam.. Concubines??And women as slaves?? First he should have learnt what is said in the Holy Quran, then go about to make statements about it.And Islam struggled against the arms of science? Thats news to me!! The Holy Quran is respected even by many non muslims for the vast amount of scientific facts prevalent in it.!! Imagine how wrong Churchill is in his understanding of Islam.

      Dear Patriot,

Either you are the proverbial frog in the well, without a clue that the world has moved on from the time of WC. If not how do you explain your shallow and ludicrous pronouncements on Islam and Muslims? Or are you being deliberate and cherry picking because you are a polemical racist? Up to you to slot yourself according to your own preference!

My take? Since you cherry pick on WC’s writings let’s take two points only for debate. The first is the pronouncement that Islam is a religion of proselytization and violence. What were white Christian invaders doing in Africa? Sightseeing I guess, according to your learned WC and the logic of the patriot, his ardent apostle? They were not invaders, there were no evangelists, and there was no proselytization!

The second is the statement that science is safe in the hands of Christians. Thankfully scientists steered away from Christianity and there is a litany of evidence how scientists were persecuted in the Christian world. Again not appropriate to comment here.

Getting back to my main argument that you are polemical racist since you seem to ignore the fact that the world has moved on from the time of WC. Racism was fashionable then, the Civil Rights Act was not passed until 1964, Apartheid was well and thriving in Africa, the UK and the US were belligerent colonialists.

If the same pronouncements were made today, this would go against the principles of the UN Charter on Human rights, and International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination of 1969.

Of course you would prefer to ignore these facts because it goes against your ingrained racism. People like you are aptly profiled by — Khalil Gibran ““To belittle, you have to be little.”.

It would be asking too much of you to drop your racism, because you may not have the heart nor the intellect to comprehend the idea that human beings are created equal and racism is anathema in 2013!

neither Winston Churchill nor piratical buccaneers of the west are my admirers. They are no different to Muslim invaders. Indeed they are plunders of peaceful nations to say the least. So, I do not take every word that WC uttered literally. But what he said about Islam is absolutely true. I must add that WC was never critical of Buddhism that way.

We Buddhists do not accept the God that Abraham found in the desert or any other God for that matter had created the Universe and what we perceive. Neither do we accept modern scientific premise that the universe started with a singularity and a big bang some 15 billion years ago which is a linear thinking derived from Abrahamic thinking of God’s creation. You can hear the Islamic Science and cosmology here. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0FA6416E9909A8EE

The Aggañña Sutta, of the Pali Canon, the Buddha, speaking to the monk Vasettha, stated that: “Now there comes a time, Vasettha, when after a long period of time this world (here the world refers to the Universe) expands. Suffix to say, that in this stanza the Buddha also said “Space has no end, and there are endless numbers of worlds.” This means that the universe has no limit, and has an endless number of stars and planets.

According to Buddhism, world systems always appear and disappear in the universe. The Buddha further says there that “Now there comes a time, Vasettha, when after a long period of time this world expands. When the world expands beings for the most part fall from the realm of Radiance and come here; and they exist made of mind, feeding on joy, self-luminous, moving through the air, constantly beautiful; thus they remain for a long, long time. Now at that time, all had become one world of water dark, and of darkness that makes blind. No moon nor sun appeared no stars were seen, nor constellations, neither was night manifest nor day, neither months nor half-months, neither years nor seasons, neither female nor male. Beings were reckoned just as beings only. And to those beings, Vasettha, sooner or later after a long time, earth with its savors was spread out in the waters. Even as a scum forms on the surface of boiled milky rice that is cooling, so did the earth appear. This is in agreement with evolution of western scientists.

As for Islam, it shares the creation myth of Judaism and Christianity. The Koran says that God created the world and the cosmos, made all the creatures that walk, swim, crawl, and fly on the face of the earth from water. He made the angels, and the sun, moon and the stars to dwell in the universe. He poured down the rain in torrents, and broke up the soil to bring forth the corn, the grapes and other vegetation; the olive and the palm, the fruit trees and the grass. Is that the scientific facts
        Muslim Daughter is talking about.

Obama’s US is evasdropping even on house wives.

With their sophisticated Embassy in Colombo and satellite Offices and their networks in every part of the country, surely they would know who the culprits of these attacks are better than any one else including the Govt.

What a waste of a country and time. Since end of conflict any other regime/country would have/has reconciled with all and moved forward economically so that the country can benefit.
All that Lanka and its citizens know since 2009 is bad press overseas, rights violations, killings, provincial and city war lords, bigotry, impeachment, ego projects followed by nuisance value government propaganda.
Internationally, since 2009 the regime has managed to replace Prabakaran as the bad guy…no small feat.

Muslims are amazed at the inability of the police to arrest even a single perpetrator of a crime committed before their very eyes. The restraint shown by the this large crowd which converged at the location after the incident is commendable. The world too is watching as revealed by the US statement.

SL needs to get down Mossad to stop these racists attacking Sinhala people’s houses.

    This is NOT acceptable.

The war left 89,000 Tamil war widows.
If another war starts it will leave 356,000 Muslim war widows (it is legal to marry up to 4 women for Muslims).

Just because some Buddhist maniacs attacked a mosque, Muslims have no right to attack Sinhala houses.

We all know who won the war and who cried genocide. So don’t push your luck. Next Indian BJP government will not tolerate this extremism either. Needless to say about he US government!

woww!!! you have such an unbiased sense of justice!! Sinhala monks led mobs have attacked 24 mosques in Sri Lanka so far. No actions were taken against the attackers which paved way for the “maniaca” (to borrow ur word) to escape unpunished. Where was ur sense of judgement wen this happened?? now, jst because sum muslims counter-attacked one or two sinhala houses (which according to u is true), u demand for a punishment for them??! is this what ur religion teaches to u?
Its the sinhala racist monks who need to b stopped.

If u want to know or learn about Islam, please read the Quran, you get it in translations. It’s nothing about fighting. Don’t see the Muslim world n decide how is Islam.. There is a vast population of Muslims around the world, and most parts of the world is against the truth,
        All the best..

Why are you mentioning Mossad, the most deadly terrorists in the world? You seem to be taken up with them.
We do not need Mossad to poison this nation, if they haven’t already. Opening the door to Mossad and Israel is like inviting a deadly serpent in. You comments really show you are an anti Muslim trouble maker, and you care less about our country.

What is this country you talk about. Not only are the politicians, police and army that are filled with extreme violence even the Budhist monks are in it. Do you really care about a country that is steeped in the blood of minorities and the building of great big Buddha statues from money plundered from hard working minorities.

It is actually better to allow any foreign power to run our country. Since independence the locals have failed to do so. All what the locals know is to immerse themselves in bloodlust and the plunder of the hapless. So even the equally murderous Mossad is welcome to come and make things right.

    This will all stop
if the Muslim countries recall their ambassadors from Sri Lanka and expel
the Sri Lankan Ambassadors in their countries.
( Not ignoring to mention that the Muslim countries have their share of persecution against the minorities. )
The Rajapakses have to be checked before they bring the whole country down. The citizens of this country irrespective of race, religion and creed have to be seriously worried. Not in the name of the BS patriotism but for all practical and humanitarian purposes.

    Facts.
    A. SL Army killed innocent civilians.
    B. The US and European Union called on the govt to stop such terrorist activities and punish the culprits
    C. The Muslims commenting on the above always called for the US to mind it’s own business and do something about Afghanistan and Iraq.
    D. Now the Muslims are under attack in SL.
    E. it’s the US that calls for justice and fairness for all.
    F. But it’s too late, the racist monsters know that killing minorities can be done with impunity because if not the Islamic countries China is always there.

After the civil war, Most of India hates the Sinhalese whether for the right or wrong reasons and as a result both Christians and Buddhists cannot travel to South India for their own shopping needs and more than that to their hallowed Religious Shrines with an easy mind as before.
When Buddhist monks in Myanmar attacked the Rohinghya muslim community and killed many of them Al Qida issued a Fatwah to kill Burmese buddhists and attack buddhist places of worship. Hence the attack on Bodh Gaya. When our Buddhist monks start attacks on Muslims and Muslim places of worship in Sri Lanka they are putting all Sinhalese at risk. Aint they intelligent enough to realise that
