GTF Calls Upon The Tamil diaspora To Help The TNA Achieve The Best Possible Victory

“Through repeated election victories, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has been given the political mandate of the Tamil people.  A decisive victory of the TNA in this forthcoming election is critical to send a powerful message to the Sri Lankan government and the international community” says the Global Tamil Forum.

Suren Surendiran -Spokesperson GTF

Issuing a statement today the GTF says; GTF has developed a strong collaborative working relationship with the TNA.  We have promoted TNA among the international community.  Equally, our active engagement with the TNA adds credibility to the political positions we adopt and promote world-wide.”

We publish below the statement in full;

Global Tamil Forum on Northern Provincial Council Election

GTF calls upon the Tamil diaspora to help the TNA achieve the best possible victory by impressing upon their relatives and friends in Sri Lanka about the significance of this election. Tamils and others who live outside the North but registered to vote in the North must take the trouble to travel to ensure their votes too are counted in favour of the TNA. Most importantly, we call upon the Tamils and other communities in the North to take an active part in the election, with the expectation the outcome will prove that a proud community with long history, however mistreated and brutalised, will not give up on the mission to achieve its legitimate political rights and will continue to work towards achieving justice, peace and equality for all.

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

GTF welcomes the announcement to hold elections for the Northern Provincial Council.  For the first time in 25 years, and 4 years after the end of the war, elections for the Northern Provincial Council have been scheduled to take place on September 21.  The Sri Lankan government agreed for the elections under intense pressure from the international community.

It is our strong conviction that the existing power devolution arrangement under the 13th amendment to the constitution does not commensurate the level of self-governance aspired by Tamils in the North-East, and that a genuine state power sharing arrangement has to be arrived through political negotiations.

We also note with alarm the steps being taken by the Sri Lankan government to further weaken the 13th amendment to the constitution through a bogus Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) process, and welcome the attention of the international community, particularly India, on countering such regressive moves.

Given the circumstances, we urge the Tamil community in Sri Lanka to exercise their democratic right to vote.  The view of the international community seems that a Provincial Council controlled by an authentic Tamil leadership will go some way in addressing the grievances of the Tamils, including their desire to preserve the cultural, political and economic identity in the North-East. It is equally important that an administration run by the elected representatives from the region could play a significant role in restoring the confidence and dignity of our people, as opposed to them becoming subservient to a military-run administration and anti-Tamil elements for mere economic survival.

Through repeated election victories, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has been given the political mandate of the Tamil people.  A decisive victory of the TNA in this forthcoming election is critical to send a powerful message to the Sri Lankan government and the international community.

Only time will tell whether a TNA-led Council will become an effective agent of change for the Tamil people or its efforts will be sabotaged by an intransigent, power-hungry government bent on marginalising Tamils.  The outcome, whether positive or unfavourable, will convey a powerful message to the people of Sri Lanka and the international community regarding the true intention of the Sri Lankan Government in amicably settling the Tamil problem.  It is therefore critical, as the first step, that TNA secures full control of the Northern Provincial Council by a sizeable majority of votes.

GTF has developed a strong collaborative working relationship with the TNA.  We have promoted TNA among the international community.  Equally, our active engagement with the TNA adds credibility to the political positions we adopt and promote world-wide.

Viceroy Chandrasiri and Lt Gen Huthrusinghe are two fullbacks rugby in the last line defence or rejection. They two are very busy in electioneering for the government openly and covertly by using government vehicles and fielding independent candidates to split the votebank of TNA.

GTF’s optimism may be short lived as these two government servants but acting as UPFA stalwarts are determined to inflict as much damage as possible to Tamils’ interest and promote their master’s party. They are working hard to ensure UPFA’s vctory and in the event of TNA’s winning, to minimise the margin.

Many voters are scared and others are determined to make sure that TNA led by Justice Wigneswaran win by clear margin. In Sri Lanka Sinhalese governments can make laws by implementation and enforcing policies are difficult to come by. Ethnic minorities must work hard to put pressure on the government to treat the common man as human and on par with anyone from the ethnic majority.

      BELIEVE this.

What ever the they do, Tamil lose.

Tell me what did Tamils win for the Last 100 years.

“The Reason, they don’t know what they really want.”

What do you think they really need?

Do you think the Sinhala/Buddhists know what they really want?

“Listen to the different Tamil voices. You understand what I say”

If the Tamil voices don’t agree with each other it means democracy in action. On the other hand democracy and Tamils don’t mix. Therefore they must be disagreeing on who wins the highest accolade for stupidity.

Sri Lankan Tamils should not heed the ‘advice’ of this modern day faux-Moses. There future is in Sri Lanka as equals with the other communities of any and all description. Merely being a Tamil is NO reason to demand privileges not available to others. However unpalatable it may sound, that died when the British colonial governement left Sri Lanka.

      Here we go again.

“Merely being a Tamil is NO reason to demand privileges not available to others.

What are the privileges being demanded by the Tamils, one might ask?

“However unpalatable it may sound, that died when the British colonial governement left Sri Lanka.”

What were the privileges did Tamils enjoy under British colonial Government.

What privileges/rights do my people enjoy now under the Sinhala/Buddhists colonial rule in my ancestral island?

I think, you are another stupid little Sinhala/Buddhist islander determined to prove your stupidity in public forums such as this.
Please don’t take trouble to prove it the entire world already knows about it.

Thanks for informing me of this vital information.

Being bit thick I have not known that Tamils also practiced “Kandyan Hospitality” in Jaffna.

It has a great historical value as this evidence shows how these two people share their culture though divided by language united in their stupidity.

This is what you call cultural intrusion into neighbouring states.

A Tamil person asking that he wants to communicate in his language with the government, police and army is “demanding privilege”.
He cannot understand a letter from the state and a police report written ONLY in Sinhalese is denial of that privilege.
Asking that he wants to live without being harassed by the army or the henchmen of parties with the government is also a denial of his privilege.
Asking that the army leave his home and land is another denial of his privilege.
Asking that he wants his men who speaks the same language administer his affairs is another denial of his privilege.

How many seats can the GTF and the BTF help the TNA win? The TNA are not even a majority in their own homes so this is time to accept being servile to democracy and not try their monkey pranks again.

How did you come to your conclusion that “the TNA are not even a majority in their own homes”? The elections are around the corner and somehow you have had a sneak preview of the results.

I envy your ability foretell the election results.

This is a timely and important statement. It gives the lie to the slander that all diaspora Tamils are an undifferentiated mass of LTTE-rump elements. The GTF’s position clearly is close to TNA thinking and I endorse the sentiment that of the options on the table it is the best for the Tamils.

Second and more important, a big defeat for the Rajapakses is not only in Tamil interests, but in the interests of democracy everywhere in Lanka, especially for the Sinhalese. Wish the latter had the guts to do the same in the NWP and Central Province.

So, if Kumar David is correct, as a Sri Lankan who really loves Sri Lanka, I say Rajapaksa’s should be there in the future too.

They may become Trillionaires. Yet, Sri Lanka will defeat all those anti-Sri Lankans. that is SOME TAMILS and their cohorts.

At last it looks like the world Tamils are uniting and supporting the TNA. The GTF has to convince Tamil Nadu to help the TNA in winning the election and leading the Tamils of SL. TNA victory is a victory for the global Tamils. If the govt. plays monkey tricks as usual, it should be exposed to the International community. The Tamils have to show the Sinhalese and the world that Nandikadal is not the end for the Tamils. The Govt. may have defeted the Tamils militarly but they can NEVER defete us politically.

Every Tamil should participate in this election and make sure the TNA gets a two thirds majority in the NPC.

Brig informed Gota. Was he identified?Yes,by my men.What- which men? My men.!

    Go look for him.

    Truth
    Day later

Then a pic came out VP’s body had a pottu on his forhead. Was it a Pottu someone asked?
Truth from Gota- No,it was a bullet by our snipers.Like what Pottu Amman does.?

In the end Karuna was flown to identify.K said no one can beat or get the Leader.Impossible.
he looked and said NO.SF lost it.Bellowed like a maniac. So we heard, all the jathaka stories.

Wasn’t it the Canadian Chapter of the pro LTTE Diaspora Govt of PM Rudra which held bi lateral Talks with LTTE proxy Sambandan and Sumanthiran recently?

Wan’t is Canadian Funding which was promosed to the TNA to fight the Election?

Wasn’t this Fighting Fund is to fight the fellow Tamil real inhabitants in the North,as there aren’t any Sinhalese let alone Sinhala Buddhistrom Extemists among them to oppose Vellala Wiggy and his fellow Vellalas?.
    .
Why is this demand from Mr Sundaran only confined to Tamils living in the South to ensure they travel all thw way to Jaffna and tick off the Vellala Ticket?.

Shouldn’t Mr Suren at least have had the decency to mention the real inhabitants of the North who served the LTTE well voluntararily or otherwise, and paved the way for Mr Suren Sunderan to hold his current high profile position in PM Rudrakumaran’s Eelaam Govt?.

These commentators must understand that tamil diaspora has come to stay
for good and are growing with determination merely because of the pressure of MRs hidden agenda. DJ in his early writings mentioned the
dangers of Internationalizing the Tamils issue. It is coming to pass.

The GTF is duty bound to support its community as much as any sinhala
group will do in similar conditions. The track-record of the MR Bro & Co. demands TGTE/GTF instigating the Democratic world as often as they can.

Why aren`t KP/Karuna/Pillaiyan not canvassing for UPFA in the North –
    Tamil force of MR?

We need more not less of this kind,in order to nail the right message into the dickheads both stupid Tamils and stupid Sinhalese.
