Hey, Hey! Ho, Ho! The Whole Bunch Has Got To Go!

By Rajan Philips

Rajan Philips

The President and the Prime Minister know that they are up the creek. They have run out of their Mattala runway. They cannot stay in their powerless positions any longer than the time needed to perform the last rites for their dead government.

The two brothers must announce their resignation to become effective as soon as parliament meets and elects an MP to be sworn in by the Chief Justice as interim President. Parliament must also resolve to allow the interim President to form a caretaker government and call for election.

This is the only constitutional and orderly way out for the Rajapaksa family. Nothing else will work.

A BIG RELIEF FOR THE WHOLE COUNTRY.

The establishment has simply folded up. The army has confirmed to world’s ambassadors that it will stand by the Constitution. No surprise there. People’s power is surging everywhere. Far flung from every nook and corner of the island to every corner of the world where Sri Lankans are living.

The once unassailable government majority in parliament is whittling down by the minute. Today (Tuesday) will be the most momentous sitting ever of parliament in Sri Lanka’s modern history.

If the President has not resigned by then, parliament can and must pass a resolution declaring his removal from office. There is no constitutional provision for it. None needed when backed up by the united will of an aroused people.

Parliament’s second act, and this is provided in the constitution, will be to elect one of its members to become the interim President and succeed the outgoing President. Parliament should proceed to assert its supremacy and expressly empower the interim President to form a caretaker government, to dissolve parliament, and to conduct parliamentary election as provided for in the constitution.

The caretaker government will have only two critical tasks to perform until a new parliament is convened and a new government is formed. One would be to arrange bridge financing through the IMF, as well as bilateral and multilateral arrangements, to ensure steady supplies of essentials. The second would be to select a team of genuine experts and delegate them to enter into negotiations with the IMF to formulate programs that will restore economic fundamentals without diminishing people’s welfares.

Those who are opposed to going to the IMF can join Nivard Cabraal and shut up.
Others will have the opportunity to present their policies and platforms to the people and canvass for their votes. There are miles to go to reach normalcy, but the people have taken the important first step. Seeing off the Rajapaksas!

Postscript

The President is reported to have informed political parties that “he will not step down from the Presidency but will hand over the government to whoever that holds 113 seats in Parliament.” This is untenable. If Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa is insistent on holding on as President, he will have to do more than “inform political parties.” He has to say that directly to the people who elected him directly, but who now directly want him to leave.
To say that “he is ready to hand over the government to whichever party that proves to hold 113 seats in Parliament today,” is also meaningless. How can he “hand over the government” to anyone while remaining President with all the bells and whistles of the presidency? The President is the Head of State, Head of Government, and the Head of Cabinet. How can he “hand over the government” without resigning?

And everyone in parliament also wants him gone. The people want him gone. The public protests are an act of impeachment. The verdict of the impeachment in the people’s court cannot be clearer. 113 MPs in parliament cannot negate the people’s verdict against the President and the government. They must both go. And let the constitution through the agency of parliament work out the details.

Keeping half dead Mahinda in front of them in the parliament today, ONE and man,, formerly their man, MP Walgama who then opposed even the nomination to be given to GOTA, is speaking the truth today.
He makes it very clear – nobody else, but Mahinda JARAPAKSHE to take the respponsiblity of today’s chaos. This is why I said, not once whole lot times sofar, that Mahidna Rajakashe ‘s real face is not known to anyone, not even to his stupid wife.

Mahinda stays mum with his BPs making every effort to pay ignorance further. Situlation is still similar to the greedy beasts that struggle for their piece of cadava.
This is the situation before us today.

World and our elders would not feel ok, but it is just normal to srilankens – world may be qustioning whether people s staple is ” ratathanakola (grass)”.

Here …… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U89L227GSr0 ….. at the very beginning, a boy crying and saying he has no job and that, when possible, pays some tax to the government. I felt very sorry.

Please educate the people …… VAT is a broad-based consumption tax levied on peoples’ basic necessities ……… paid by everyone but borne mostly by the working-class who can least afford to pay it.

So, no one needs to be ashamed: unbeknownst to them everyone pays tax.

Everywhere in the world, led by America, there was a trend to shift the tax burden from the rich to the average citizen on the street …….. VAT, GST …… etc…….. is the result of that.

It’s not this boy (and many others like him) who unbeknownst to him pays tax that should be ashamed …….. but the scum of the earth politicians who steal it.

The frigging Rajapakses made shamelessness and lying a virtue.

It’s time the shame is borne by the culprits; not the ordinary citizens.

Although there is no Covid in Lanka these social media and Whatsap group staged protestors are wearing environmentally polluting masks!
        They love the masks?!

What brain-dead fake protestors – part of the the CIA Colour Revolution to get Lanka into the IMF bag with the US citizen Minister for Economic Disaster Basil Rajapakse leading the tile to Washington!

Yes, I was particularly impressed with one of Kumara Welgama’s speeches.
        .
After all nothing can be more normal than a UNP-type guy finds fault with the Rajapaksas. But Welgama has been more solidly SLFP than almost anybody else.

What is your view on Genocide?
The Tamils have failed to frame charges on Gota, his clan and his Gangsters for committing genocide.

Tell us if there is any possibility of charging Gota for attempting to commit Genocide by starving the entire island?

What does the convention on Genocide say about starving the people?

        Dear NV.
Genocide is the intentional destruction of a group of people, may be an ethnic or religious group.
This happened recently in the Bosnia Herzegovina war and earlier Nazi Germany.
But I doubt if on that definition, GR will qualify as “intention” may lack proof.
War crimes is a different matter.

“Genocide is the intentional destruction of a group of people, may be an ethnic or religious group.”

Many in this island are convinced Gota and his extended family originated from different type of mixed gene pool. Some look like Telugu appearance (Mahinda), Chamal Portuguese mix, Basil Telugu gypsy without the turban and mustache, Gota appears like a person from Sakai people of peninsular Malaysia, …..

I am not an anthropologist so I don’t read much into the origin of their family. We need to examine Gota’s DNA to prove one way or another. In case if he indeed belongs to Sakai people naturally he might harbour racist ideas about Sinhala/Tamil speaking people, eventually he may have planned the whole project genocide by depriving people of food, gas, petrol, paper, electricity, … . medicine, …

One cannot prove his intentions from any of his statements apart from his claim being a Sinhala/Buddhist. Its like Hitler’s new Aryan identity the racist in this island also claim to belong to a new race called Sinhala/Buddhists. Therefore his pattern of behaviour clearly show his intention.

Gota was in charge of death squads between 1987 and 1991. Then he operated dead squads and allowed carpet bombings, shelling, etc. His mission has been and is finding final solution to Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, …. His pattern of behaviour then and now shows his intention.

    Dear Rajan,
    .
I’ve been looking for news elsewhere, but yours is the most confident assertion that I see that the Rajapaksas will strut no more as the owners of Sri Lanka. Up in Bandarawela, I saw little; there had been an actual demonstration on Monday, after I defied the curfew on Sunday; here it is in somewhat comic and entertaining mode from Thailand of all places:
    .
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9P0HaC9hCc
    .
Twenty minutes of colloquial English. And at least one of my siblings has been doing something; she has reported from Brisbane that they got some protests going there, with thers taking place in Sydney (where I have a sister) and Melbourne. But the show must surely belong to those crowds who stormed Carlton, the Rajapaksa house in Tangalle.
    .
Thanks for giving us such early news, Rajan.

“The President is reported to have informed political parties that “he will not step down from the Presidency but will hand over the government to whoever that holds 113 seats in Parliament.”
There are other legal ways. If, as seems likely soon, the opposition gains a 2/3 majority, it could roll back the 20th Amendment and at least cut Gota down to size.
Or it could pass an impeachment motion.
“enter into negotiations with the IMF to formulate programs that will restore economic fundamentals without diminishing people’s welfares.”
That is rather wishful thinking. The IMF doesn’t work that way. That’s why Cabral didn’t want to go there. Financial discipline is what the IMF wants. No freebies on borrowed money, no subsidies, welfare tightly targeted. We can’t have a million 3 wheeler drivers while electricians are imported from Bangladesh.
We are in for a very tough time, but I hope both the voters and politicians will learn.

At last I’ve managed to knock some sense into the local JVP guy.
      .
He came over, and informed me that there is this NPP-led protest rally in Badulla, tomorrow morning, about 9.00 am.
      .
It’s best to be sensible in gooing about this. Get there early, use my stentorian voice (when I let go it used to be one of the most powerul anywhere!) to good effect, get back to Bandarawela early, so as to ride home on my rickety motor-bike, purchased re-conditioned by me in Kurunegala in 1991.

Gota is a man who is famous for making blundres over blunders. To cover one blunder he makes two blunders. His family too is the same and for them as long as their interests are safe they just dont care a damn. In fact this is exactly what Mahintha did. He was a man sufferring from serious grandiose ideation and pomp and glory was his way of life. Sadly the gullible and tollerent people palayed into his agenda and went on supporting him without any hesitation. This cunning greedy man used buddhism and sinhala racism as his only tool to hoodwink the mases. His family too played the same music to fatten themselves. With time Mahintha thought that he is every thing for Sri lankan and he can do any damn thing yet masses will accept him. He brought Gota into the scene to complicate matters. This led to the family developing superiorty complex and did not realise their limis and went on unabated. The dirty crooks surrounding them enjoyed the family’s mind set and went on using this guys to plunder the country not concerned of the coutrys legal system or morality. This stupidity of these blind guys the n led to making them totally blind to reality and thus never ever realised that they have become the most hated people in SL.

    Agreed,
I submit my wish list for consideration.
This wish List is outside the present constitution, since the present constitution is deemed to have been abolished by the people who are supreme. The institutions under the present constitution will continue in the interim.
The Chief Justice assumes office as Acting Interim President with Executive Powers.. He appoints a handful of Technocrats to function as Ministers in the interim to run the country and mandated to address all economic and other problems facing the country within a short period.
In the meantime Commissioner of Elections conducts elections to elect members to a Constituent Assembly to draft a new people’s constitution. The election may be conducted district wise with members contest individually and those candidates obtain more than a certain percentage of votes are elected as members of the Constituent Assembly.
The Constituent Assembly prepares a draft constitution with necessary inputs from local and international experts and also who make final touches to the draft and the draft is passed by the constituent assembly with or without amendments,
Elections are conducted in terms of provisions in the new constitution and the constitutional government is restored.

The dire need is for cooking gas and not tear gas. It is not the Velupillai Prabhakan and the LTTE which destroyed Srilanka but the Rajapakshe family. Now the Rats have started to abandon the sinking ship.

      Hanchopancha,
“It is not the Velupillai Prabhakan and the LTTE which destroyed Srilanka but the Rajapakshe family.”

Prabhakaran and LTTE destroyed Sinhale by carrying out terrorist attacks and massacring Sinhala Buddhists for three decades. Rajapakshes eliminated Tamil terrorists and restored peace and stability but regime change mafia became successful in removing Rajapakshes from power by misleading the voters telling blatant lies and brought ‘Yahapalana’ Government that ruined the economy of the country deliberately from day one. They also ruined peace and stability by allowing Muslims to carry out terrorist attacks. Rajapakshes had to pay the price for blunders made by ‘Yahapalana’ Government.

As already said somewhere else Champa should go to her psychiatric hospital. Self denial would nt help her any further. The kind of so called self proclaimed pundits are the main reason srilanka to fall deeper. Never mind whether Champa is man or woman, she is racist. However, she is not senselessly nasty – and she is intelligent. I don’t think that you’ll find a single comment by me in which I condemn her whole-sale. We will never solve these communal problems that we have in this land unless we appreciate that Champa and and Dr Gnana Sankaralingam are as bitter as they are owing to certain analysable reasons.

Sri Lanka today is under the grip of crowd psychology to oust the government and its leaders for the terrible hardships they are undergoing due to cumulative bad governance for 74 years. Crowds can be hijacked by demagogues and others.

While political action in the parliament is important to remove the corrupt leaders and the government, mere physical survival of the poor is in jeopardy.

People might as well plant food crops in their home gardens to mitigate the high prices of foodstuff.

It is also good for the society to remember that for many years it has been living beyond its means. The country doesn’t produce sufficient the goods and services it consumes. You can’t live on borrowed money for long.

IMF or others can only show the path to live within the means and eliminate corruption.

Hey Hey, they go, and then who comes into power? Another bunch of opportunistic Sinhalese Buddhist Fascists and racists cheered and brought into power again by a largely gullible and racist Sinhalese electorate, to start the same story again. The racism the marginalization of the Tamils and corruption, all in the name of Sinhalese Buddhist Fascism, will again provide lots of prosperity for the Sinhalese. When will these people learn and when will you also learn? Until human rights for everyone are respected and equality and justice for everyone are recognized and enshrined with no favoured ethnicity or religion, with the land belonging to everyone and the recognition of the island’s Tamil people, their ancient history, language, heritage, and their right to their homeland, instead of trying to destroy them, their language, history heritage, and homeland, with the use of government power, resources, fake history, and myths, as they see the indigenous, Tamils from the north and east and their language, history and heritage as a threat to the Sinhalese Buddist fascist claim, that the entire island belongs to them.

“The racism the marginalization of the Tamils…”

Despite racism and marginalization of Tamils you are talking the number of Tamils in Colombo and in other parts of the country keep on increasing. If racism and marginalization of Tamils exist I wonder why all the Tamil politicians from Yapanaya live in Colombo with their families instead of returning to Yapanaya. Even during the war they lived in Colombo because they felt safer to live amongst Sinhalayo that living with their own lot.

Is this true 42 government MP’s including 14 SLFP, big moth WW claims trio has 13 others with him and 12 SLPP, decided to go independent ( don’t know what that means) . The 13 Wimal claims and 12 SLPP may be the same set of crooks mentioned twice ??. Gotha told press show me 113 and I will resign and hand over government. If true, I am sure at the time of NCM voting few more SLPP rats will jump ship. Sajith says do not try make deals to show 113 but abolish Presidency this week, only way to do that in our constipation, is for Gotha to resign, sack the left over cabinet including MR and nominate one but cannot abolish without the participation of 6.9 million retards. Jit: I can understand why Weerawansa fights so hard to stay in the company of Rajapakse. Reason No.1: There is a case due in the Courts against him in which he has to explain how he managed to collect Rs. 70 million and own properties. No. 2: A verdict is due in a case that has been concluded against his wife for obtaining two passports and submitting false declarations and information.

Gammanpila is also in the lineup for a hearing in Courts. So all these “CRIMINALS” have to evolve a “System” for Rajapakse to be in power.

I stand by what I said about India.
The whole drama unfolding in Sri Lanka is to CONCEAL India taking over Trincomalee Harbour, Sampur area, the Delft islet, Jaffna Peninsula, all renewable and non-renewable energy sectors and Sri Lanka’s territorial waters to initiate several defence and income generating projects. The Indian Military will be deployed in the Northern and Eastern provinces. Indian Navy will petrol Sri Lanka’s waters under the guise of providing maritime security to commercial ships and also to man a maritime intelligence fusion centre and the Indian air force will be deployed in Sri Lanka to launch a maritime surveillance aircraft and also to manage the Palaly airport. All these activities are connected to India’s defence agreements with the USA! This is a grave breach of Sri Lanka’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

    • 6
      33

On the cultural front, India will destroy all Theravada Buddhist temples in the North and the East and build Jain and Hindu temples. This is extremely serious as the majority of Theravada Buddhist archaeological sites are based in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. India has provided funds to corrupt Sri Lankan rulers and yellow-robed men for years to destroy ancient Sinhalese architecture in Theravada Buddhist temples under the guise of restorations and transform them to Jain temples. There are heartbreaking scenes of deliberate desanctification of facial, hand and body features of Lord Buddha statues and overstylized temples distorting traditional Sinhalese Buddhist architectural and sculptural styles.
Sinhalese should protest against defense agreements signed between India and Sri Lanka and India taking over Sri Lanka. There is no economic crisis in Sri Lanka. The crisis was invented by the Rajapaksas..
The Rajapaksas have distributed money to divert people’s attention to facilitate India’s soft invasion of Sri Lanka. Fake patriots are faking a crisis to cover up their treachery. All the traitors should be put in jail for life as a punishment for their betrayal.

Joking are you? Everyone knows that there were hardly any Chingkallams and Chingkalla settlements from ancient times north of Anuradhapura and east of Polonnaruwa. Even your Mahavamsa fairy tale states the lands to the north and east as Thamizh lands. Even as far as the 17Th century most of the modern Anuradhapura district was occupied by Thamizh. See Robert Knox’s observations. So how can ancient Chingkalla civilization, Chingkalla architecture and Theravada temples exist in these regions, when there were hardly any Chingkallams until after independence, when they were deliberately settled there in the hundreds of thousands by the state on ethnically cleansed and stolen Thamizh lands, to change the demography.

        • 15

All the ancient Buddhist ruins there are Thamizh Buddhist and they are not only Theravada but even from the Mahayana sects. Most Thamizh did not convert to Buddhism but a significant amount did convert both to the Mahayana and Theravada sects but reconverted back to Saivism during the 10TH or 12Th-century invasion by Raja Raja Cholan. These ancient Buddhist ruins belong to these ancient Thamizh who were Buddhist and not Chingkallams. Chingkallams only belonged to the Theravash sect, whereas ancient Thamizh Buddhists belonged to both sects. Get your fact correct.

The ancient Buddhist remains in the North and East of Sri Lanka are the remnants left by the Tamil Buddhists and not anybody else. They are part of the heritage of Sri Lankan Tamils. Only the Buddhist temples, statues, and structures built in the recent past and present in the North and East remain as Sinhala-Buddhist.

      Chiv,
      .
What Champa says here is not nonsense. When scrolling down after making my plea to you to be more understanding towards Champa, I didn’t imagine that I’d find such a good example so quickly.
      .
May I give you another example. She promised to read any article written by me (it may have been about anything other than about S. Thomas’!). She kept her word, and see how kindly she speaks to me:
      .
      https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/the-maldivian-parliamentary-elections-2019-where-a-happy-result-can-be-predicted/
      .
I mean this very seriously; if you go there, you will find quite a few intersting things that have now become apparant. There are allegations of corruption, but the biggest surprise, not generally known here, is a bit of sleaze, but unfortunately true.
      .
Nasheed had such a good marriage; he tragically got infatuated with “a younger woman”. His wife left him. Everybody in the Maldives knows about it, but they don’t let foreigners on to such things.

      chiv,
      .
I didn’t realise that my earlier comment would get so distant from Champa’s comment that I was talking about.
      .
It was about, “I stand by what I said about India.”
      .
To continue my “lesson” – I think that I was very cautious when writing “my Maldives article”. Jeevan is a pretty mad guy! There can be no doubt that what Jeevan and I did (there still is an element that I’m leaving out!) together made the difference to the outcome of the Presidential Election. But we reaped no reward! Jeevan didn’t wish to have anything. He rushed back to Lanka, not wanting to get any reward.
      .
I’d love to do some snorkelling there again. But it just didn’t happen. You shouldn’t count on reward, when doing the right thing. That is the sad reality. Few of us can face up to this implication of Kant’s “Categorical Imperative”. If we expect reward, we are likely to be disappointed. And I am, somewhat.
      .
      Que sera, sera!

    • 1
      0

      However, chiv,
      .
if you look at the comment about “the cultural front” that appears immediately below that, you will find Champa going over the top – which is what drives Tamils especially to seemingly organise trolls of DISLIKES for her comments. That is unfair to say the least.
      .
Champa genuinely feels for Sinhala culture. I’m afraid that I don’t. Visit me. It is not only the untidiness of this nice house built by my father that will disappoint you. I know little of Sinhala music, films, (well I’m not all that familiar with even English films), literature, etc. LM is also on this page. He was begging me to write in Sinhala, in the Sinhala section of CT.
      .
This is typical of my cerebral efforts:
      .

      PART TWO
      .
Please look at my “cold” congratulation of LM, who comments regularly in Sinhala. Somewhere, today, I made a list of the most “intelligent commenters” on CT. I did not list LM. What is distinctive about him is his heart! There may never be a more warm hearted and generous soul than LM. He visited Lanka last year and couriered me some “goodies”. We talk fairly often on WhatsApp, and sometimes with the cameras on. But I’m forbidden from revealing not just his name, but even the part of Germany that he lives in. He’s scared! It’s likely that he will see this and feel a bit sad that I’ve said things about him that are painful. Yes, but I see the need to be truthful.
      .
How did I first start using CT? It was Rajan Hoole who first introduced CT to me. It may have been years later that I first met Jeevan, who has visited me three times. Rajan hasn’t; well, I think that he cannot, because of his vegan diet.

The buddhist have been actively destroying hindu temples in tamil areas and taking over hindu temple lands on the PRETEXT of some spurious buddhist claims with the assistance of the armed forces. In Kataragama hindu owned lodges have been taken over by buddhists who have refused to hand them over to their rightful owners.

I have watched RABID Buddhist monks on Youtube useFILTHY language on hindus in the process of taking over hindu temples in Mullaitivu and other places. Recently the incumbent crooked buddhist “bhikku” in the Jaffna vihara laid claim to a lake in jaffna on the basis that buddhists bhikkus bathed in the lake.

Frankly it gave me great pleasure when the Taliban bombed and destroyed buddhist sites in their barbaric land because the same destruction of hindu religious sites is happening in ceylon tamil lands by the barbaric sinhalas and their barbaric buddhist saffron clothed bhikku rogues.

I had a brief stay in a buddhist vihara in Colombo introduced by a part sinhala parentage friend and the buddhist bhikku, his relative, used to give me money to buy Arrack / alcohol on a regular basis for him!!! I am not creating this it is absolute truth!!!

“The buddhist have been actively destroying hindu temples in tamil areas and taking over hindu temple lands on the PRETEXT of some spurious buddhist claims with the assistance of the armed forces.”

Who told this blatant lie to you? It is the other way around. Dravidians who came after 13th Century and occupied Sinhala land in the North and gradually moved to East during colonial rule vandalized Sinhala Buddhist heritage sites and built Hindu Kovils on top of ancient Buddhist temples.
Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera in his 540-page tome ‘Sinhala Buddhist Heritage in the North and the East of Sri Lanka (Colombo; Mount Laurel, N.J. : Dayawansa Jayakody & Co., 2005)’ has documented almost all these heritage sites and places where Kovils and Mosques have been built on top of ancient Buddhist temples.

News: “The Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa urged President Modi to intervene in Sri Lanka’s crisis.”
Paid protesters guide innocent citizens to attack residences of MPs and government buildings (to validate their anger).
News: “Sri Lanka ruling coalition loses parliamentary majority (through its own great efforts).”
News: “The Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa called on Parliament to seize the moment and introduce legislation to abolish the Executive Presidency.” What did he mean by that? Parliament has no power to abolish the Executive Presidency without a referendum. I think what he meant was an impeachment to remove the President.
Oh yeah, this is the “perfect” moment to destabilize Sri Lanka so that India can have its way. India has been trying to destabilize Sri Lanka since the 1970s. When, not if, the current protests deliberately escalate to uncontrollable major riots, there won’t be any authority to even impose curfew. Tri-forces are bound by defense agreements to cooperate with India, if the necessity arises.
Whether we like it or not, the President was elected for 5-year term through a free and fair rigged election. It is the same story with the PM and MPs.
    Contd:……

The President has one easy option i.e. to prorogue Parliament for two months, then, summon it for one day and prorogue again for another two months. He should not dissolve Parliament, as the first step of the new Parliament will be an impeachment to remove him. In the meantime, he should explore the possibility of halting all defense and new energy agreements with India.
I don’t support Gotabhaya, but I support the Executive Presidency.
Sri Lanka does not need international defence agreements. There is no external threat to us. India was the only threat as proved by its airspace invasion of Sri Lanka by Indian air force jets in June 1987 in support of the LTTE to warn Sri Lanka of an imminent Indian invasion, forcing Sri Lanka military to suspend its gloriously successful “Operation-Liberation” against LTTE terrorists.
The Indian air force invasion in 1987 was called “Eagle Mission”. Today, the same India has launched a “Kaputa Mission” to invade Sri Lanka by heavily bribing the Rajapaksas, as India cannot use force with the “Indo-Lanka Peace Accord” in place, which was a brilliant “peace-trap-diplomacy” that lured India to sign just one month after its airspace invasion of Sri Lanka.

          2. “as India cannot use force with the “Indo-Lanka Peace Accord” in place, which was a brilliant “peace-trap-diplomacy”
1 is contradictory of 2 above?
Hope you would not conclude with another ‘maxim’ that, since ‘Katchatheevu’ island was ceded to SL, under the pact of 1964 with Sirima, they would not be able to take it back??

      Really?
In fact Hindia helped the stupid Sri Lanka to stabilise the island, protected the island from Sinhala/Buddhist terrorists in 1971 and continues to do so until today except in the 1980s when JR thought he was part of English speaking countries and volunteered to provide bases, communication facilities, rest and recreation facilities in other word JR was willing to provide sexual favours to US security forces in Trincomalee, did Hindia destabilise this island.

Later on Hindia helped Prabaharan to destroy LTTE.
We know you’ve been snoozing almost all your entire life like the legendary rakshasa Kumbakarna. From 2004 on wards Hindia provided A to Z to stupid Sri Lankan state to win the war including Rs165 Million which was transferred to VP by Rajapaksas for services he provided towards Mahinda winning the elections in 2005.

Funny the biggest irony is this man, his brother, family and all his war criminal racist military gang, who committed so many war crimes on the island’s Tamil population and still continue to do so. Were celebrated as golden war heroes felicitated and elected overwhelmingly by the Sinhalese, as saviours of the Sinhalese race and Buddhism. There were large celebrations and parties not only on the island but even overseas. Now the so-called saviour of the Sinhalese, whom they thought will only bring misery and destruction to the island’s Tamils and their former allies the Tamil or Tamil speaking Muslims, and paradise to them has brought more misery and downfall to them and their so-called racist war criminal saviour has become a curse to them and the golden war hero has become a villain and they want to him out, seeking out revenge and blood.

Hope this will be a good lesson for the Sinhalese not to get hoodwinked believe and elect opportunistic racist politicians, who are only interested in themselves and their kith kin and friends and not at all in the country. They have been doing this from the time of independence and look what it has brought the island to. Economic bankruptcy, a revolution in the 1970s by Sinhalese youth, a thirty-year-old civil war against the island’s Tamil population, drained the economy. The war ended more than 11 years ago but the reason for the war has not been resolved, on the contrary, Sinhalese racism and Buddhism have increased, the Tamils still continue to be marginalized and the country bankrupt.

The President can get the country back to normal by taking the following measures or similar measures, as appropriate:-
    1. Appointing himself as the Minister of Finance.
    2. Appointing Mr. Sumith Abeysinghe as the new Secretary, Ministry of Finance.
    3. I understand Mr. Nandalal Weerasinghe is the new Governor, Central Bank. The President shouldn’t interefere with CB’s routine work.
    4. Appointing a caretaker Cabinet with a few Ministers (excluding Ali Sabry); Foreign, Agriculture, Public Services, Energy, etc.
    5. Directing the new Secretary/Finance to make arrangements to pay paddy farmers Rs. 100,000 per acre through Divisional Secretariats and Grama Niladharis, and issue a public announcement asking people to submit their claims. (I am serious). A similar relief initiative for all other growers (vegetable farmers, flower farmers, etc) and small-scale business owners as a ‘provocation’ for everyone to ‘get back to work’.
    6. On second thought, the above grants could be paid in two installments, with the first installment IMMEDIATELY and the second, three months later. But, the President should keep his promise.
    7. Directing the Secretary/Finance to submit a report on buffer stocks and food security with recommendations to address problematic areas.
    8. Appointing a Cost of Living Treasury Committee. They know what to do. (200 words-dead.)

Rest assured, the majority of people in the country respect his sacrifices. Tiger Vedda,

Axe treatment and gunshot are entirely different. Your hero got the axe (courtesy of Hon. Jagath Dias) because he was too scared to swallow the cyanide he gave other people’s children.

In 2020, Peter Dutton (Member of the Australian House of Representatives) was quoted as saying, “The civil war in Sri Lanka is now over and Tamils from around the world have returned to their country, and have been accepted back by democratically-elected inclusive government.”

Therefore, we can conclude the axe treatment achieved the desired effect.

Consider asking Rudrakumaran for a refund of your donation.

You are indeed a white man’s burden.
Can you not see what is happening in front of the cameras, mobile phones in front of the people?

You still reminisce the barbarity of your Rana-Viruses forgetting they are a huge drain on the island’s scarce resources, making the country begging every poor country in and around this island for its survival.

You been part of the bigoted noisy racist lot for a long time who have boasting about their imagined achievements.

Now is the time for you to shut all your orifices and humbly help carry the National Begging Bowl.

            Tiger Vedda,

Answer the question: are the LTTE terrorists or not? According to your logic, everyone on the planet is racist except Tamils. That is why your “freedom struggle” ended in a fish’s backside in Nanthikadal Lagoon.

I go along with Srikrish suggestions.
That is to make Chief Justice the Interim President who will appoint technocrats (Qualified incorruptible ones) as cabinet ministers. They will STEADY the ship and get it to float for a smooth SAIL. It may take an year.
New elections to take place after a new CONSTITUTION which bar the crooked
Murderers drug peddlers contesting the parliamentary elections.

It may take more than an year for people to make the government relent on anything. If protestors rush too much with this limited crowd, Rapist Army will roast them in the pan. So import matter is people & Opposition parties together appoint a shadows People’s Board to Central bank & take control of that. The real broad or Governor or any others must keep the People Board 100% informed about all the transactions. Predatory countries’ loan repayments, their contracts payments all should be freezes. Otherwise the Old FoX Rowdy King will, like Sage Sunthamurthi Nayanar did in Thevara Kalam, will dump all dollars in PeaCock Manson’s swimming pool & take it through the Yellow river as shiny gold. From Opposition, don’t allow Ranil or Harsha like Old Rowdy’s agents, because they worked hard to protect all the loots during Yahapalanaya. Get the help from Hindunette, Kumara Welcama, Dr.WAW, former assistant Governor like people.

What nonsense for a person like Rajan Philips to write “without diminishing people’s welfares”. The country is in this intractable turmoil on account of living beyond means. Year 1944, was the first year of my brush with welfare at age 5. I too partook of the lunch of bread and keerai curry. At home I noted that we were getting ‘coupon rice’ even though our home was surplus in that commodity. This was the beginning of ‘living beyond means’ with not even a gesture of gratitude. Now the country is at public debt Rs. 18 trillion plus.
From the mire of chaos today we will graduate to the inferno of anarchy tomorrow. Hoops of steel tie us far too strongly to living beyond means
