Human Right Commission Of Sri Lanka To Investigate Complaints Regarding Kandy Violence

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) will inquire into complaints made by the general public on violence related to racial hatred that occurred in Kandy recently.

The HRCSL has announced that initially written information and evidence will be collected from persons affected by the violence and also from any other interested party. According to the notice published on the Commission’s website, ‘written submissions should not exceed three pages and must include the date, place and time of incidents’ as well as names of persons or institutions identified in such submissions. Photographs and videos of incidents could also be included in the submissions, the HRCSL states.

April 21, 2018 has been set as the deadlines for submissions which have to be sent via registered post to the Regional Coordinator, Kandy Regional Office, Human Right Commission, No 8/1 Primrose Road, Kandy.
