“I Can’t Do This Job” – Maithri Throws Tantrum And Leaves Cabinet Meeting

President Maithripala Sirisena stormed out of a Cabinet Meeting this morning claiming that he ‘cannot run the government’ (mata aanduva karanna behe).

Sirisena

The President had lamented that he is being attacked from all sides, claiming that the website Lankaenews sling mud at him because advertising has not been given, that he has been called a pickpocket (obviously referring to a speech by Colombo District UNP MP S.M. Marikar who called him ‘Pickpocket President’) and that he’s also being ridiculed on Facebook.

After he stormed out, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and a few others including Malik Samarawickrama, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Kabir Hashim had followed the President to convince him to return, Colombo Telegraph learns. Following a discussion that went on for about an hour where SLFP ministers such as Mahinda Samarasinghe, Duminda Dissanayake and Mahinda Amaraweera also took part the President had agreed to return.

The President had remained silent throughout the rest of the proceedings.

Colombo Telegraph reliably learns that it is the President’s practice to have breakfast with his son Daham who updates his father about comments on social media. Reference to several adverse comments and news stories is supposed to have irked the President and pushed him to throw a tantrum at the Cabinet Meeting.

Leave the worrying to Hindians about “the division of the post LTTE Srilanaka”. Hindians prevented the division before and they will do it again at a colossal cost to the people.

Even if Sri Lanka decides to partition the island it will have to get authorisation from Hindians. Without their consent UNP PhDs, Dr Ranil, Dr Mahendran, Dr Mahinda Rajapaksa (LLD + PhD X 3), Dr Gotabhaya Rajapaksa (DSc), G L Pieris (PhD X 2), Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe (PhD X 2), Rear Admiral Dr Sarath P Weerasekera (PhD), Dr Dayan Jayatilleke (PhD), Dr Mervyn Silva (PhD), Basil (10, 20, 30 %) cannot do such a partition. Now you can go back to sleep.

        Got it, dear Analyst.

So, we try to usher in secularism.

The problem is that many of these religious nuts have understood that to be our (noble) intention. Some of them know that if we succeed for all these guys who rely on superstition it’s curtains; and they will continue to insist that every one of us Sri Lankans must carry the label of one of the four religions designated by them.

Some creeds will continue to be outlawed by them: e.g. Sikhism, Zororastrianism, Judaism. Even Shia Islam and Mahayana Buddhism.

Yes, we must counter that adherence to superstitions.

Long live Rationality and Common Sense!

          Dear Analyst,

I’ve just realised that we have a problem:

If you google for the “Most Religious Countries in the World”, you will find only five countries ahead of us – some “All Muslim Countries”.

USA- had only white Anglo Saxon Protestants for presidents until untill the irish Catholic John Kennedy in 1960. In the 19th century there was one exception. Martin Van Buren. Who was dutch. Since JFK everyone is a WASP. Including Obama from his mother. Trump is Protestant with Scottish ancestry. Which makes him a WASP.

This government had all the support of the people and the world over when they came to power.
There were lots of Positives for a good future for this country and the people.
They quickly settled in their own agendas! The same as the last Parayas, no better one bit.
      Now cutting each other’s throats.
You ” Can take the Donkeys to the water but you cannot make the Donkeys to drink. “
We took them to YAHAPALANAYA , ( THE GOOD GOVERNANCE) but the DONKEYS WILL NOT
      CHANGE.

WE CANNOT CHANGE THE DONKEYS MENTALITY OVERNIGHT.

The ones in the Parliament are like SPENT CARTRIDGES, THEY HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER US .
THEY ARE GREEDY LIARS ONLY FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR OWN FAMILIES.

Bring New Politicians/ Leaders who will work for us and the Country.

Sri Lanka is a cursed nation. People blame the politicians for all the sins. But people more than the pollies should take the blame for the present mess.

It is unfortunate that we have become a nation who either praise or criticise leaders to extreme lengths. Such actions ruin good leaders and country suffers as a result.

When Mahinda Rajapaksa became the President he publicly stated that he wants to leave after two terms. However after the war victory our people started praising him to such an extent he himself became illusioned with the idea he is indispensable and started behaving like a dictator. Same is true for JRJ and to a lesser extent for Ranasinghe Premadasa.

On the one hand we tend to venerate leaders more because of their arrogance (which we mistakenly interpret as strong leadership). On the other hand when we get an honest down to earth person with very good intentions we tend to CRITICISE them as weak leaders instead of taking the maximum benefit from their resolve. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE SLAVE MENTALITY HANDED DOWN TO US FROM THE TIME OF ANCIENT KINGS.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, from my memory, we have a President engaged in a public crusade AGAINST CORRUPTION, stealing money from the tax payers – the general public.

    cont…

      2

      Part 2..
Even people like JRJ, Premadasa etc NEVER uttered a word against corruption. Not only politicians even top administrators and their families in the JRJ/Premadasa & CBK governments left Sri Lanka and started living in places such as London and Melbourne buying real estate in most affluent parts of these countries. (Some of them have even returned with the blessings of present UNP leaders) Nobody even questioned how they became so rich with their paltry salaries.

It is very rare that people in developing countries get leaders with a resolve to eliminate corruption. Instead most make money for generations during their time.

Nobody is perfect and people make mistakes. However it is unfortunate that we tend to criticise each and every minor mistake by the current President instead of strengthening his hands against politicians and their henchmen stealing peoples money.

If we can make use of this opportunity to get proper legislation and punish even some of these crooks who were responsible, such action would scare these perpetrators and reduce corruption in future. This will be a much more productive exercise that having large scale development projects in a corrupt country.

        Thanks, Dan.

Yes, when corruption reaches the dizzy levels that it has, nobody dares even think of doing anything constructive.

When voting, we have to consider both the issue of corruption, and the need to re-build our country in such a way that racism doesn’t raise its ugly head.

These elections may be for local councils, but they have National Significance. Also, the system in operation is not clear to me. In my Municipal Council area, there clearly are more groups in the fray than most seem to be aware of, judging by handbills pasted on electric posts. What these groups stand for is unclear.

I live two miles from the town. The Bandarawela Municipality falls in to two unconnected sections. To get to my home from the town, I have to pass through an area (Ward 1, Kahattewela) that belongs to the Haputale Pradeshiya Sabha. The local government area maps are on the Internet, but to find out about roads and transportation one has to look at other maps. Efforts were made to change this anomaly, but nobody remembers why it arose in the first place. It was from the desire of one time Health Minister W.P.G. Ariyadasa, and Loku Bandara to have a Sinhalese enclave in an otherwise Tamil dominated electorate. Massive inconvenience to the residents – think it out, please.

With such selfish and parochial thinking, how are we to unite as one people? Every citizen surely deserves representation.

Theres only one leader President Sdirisena at present who has the trust of all communities and unite as people of one cvountry.

Very good comment Dan. It’s quite disappointing that it is the public who become the reason and result of such problems in the country. Quite a tough situation to get out of unless people learn to have better judgement and logical faith in the leaders than blindly swinging between blossoms every season. I agree with the part where public is still in the slave mentality. No wonder communism still lives.

You are sadly mistaken my dear Dan. His first job should have been the abolishment of the ‘Executive presidency’. What did he do instead?, surrounded himself with fraudsters from the previous corrupt regime. So, stop blaming the public and JRJ, CBK and the Senanayakas. They were wealthy enough to do what they did for their kith and kin but never robbed the poor. Get a life man. Stop uttering rubbish that you are not aware of. By the way, are you a buddy of Dayan Jayathilake?

          0

Yes, the personal corruption level of the top politicians was under control until about 2,000 A.D. I won’t try to be more specific than that.

Now we are faced with the twin problems of corruption and racism. We have to counter them.

I’ve been told that mine is the only Municipal area where neither SLFP nor SLPP is contesting. That is officially, no Mahinda Rajapaksa; no Maithripala Sirisena. Instead an independent group with a “wrist watch” as symbol, backed by both factions of the guys who had the Hand as symbol, later the Betel Leaf. Their leader, Nalin Suriyage, the UNP Mayor a decade ago.

The current UNP guys visited me yesterday (Wednesday). Not the Mayoral Candidate (a pleasant enough guy), nor the brother of the current UNP Memeber of Parlaiment, Chaminda Wijesiri, who was the earlier SLFP guy. They’d come up to my gate, then disappeared, citing other important meetings.

I’m known to be notoriously outspoken – I think that those two guys knew that my questions would be searching, potentially embarrassing. A dozen, including the UNP Ward Candidate came in. I gave them all seats, then questioned them. Yes, they were stuck for answers.

How can one trust these guys? I’m beginning to understand the new system. The guys finally selected to make up the 16 Member Council will depend on how well each fared in his/her Ward. In my Ward, this “Gnani Akki”, who acknowledged that Ranil W. doesn’t want to be challenged for leadership.

I told them what must have seemed incredible to them – that an English-speaking man like me would vote JVP.

          May heaven help us!

Yahapalanaya election promise is “No Leader, No Commander, No Soldier will be prosecuted”. After arranging to sell Hangbangtota to China, they declared that object was achieved, hoping if ever Lankawe war crimes get out of UNHRC, China would block it. So, once the paramount election promise is achieved, Yahapalanaya has become rudderless boat. As matter of fact Yahapalanaya has to honor no any other promise as the promise of “No Leader, No Commander, No Soldier will be prosecuted” Is already horned. Yahapalanaya is now starting to feels it will be able to enjoy the popularity Old Royal enjoyed, as they feel that they have achieved something equal to Old Royals Achievement (war at Wanni) in humiliating Tamil in international arena.
The fear that existed at the formation of Yahapalanaya that the Sinhala government may have to answer to the world in murdering Tamils is gone; they now in the hyena meat fights (for the commission of selling Hangbangtota and buying war ship). The apparent purchase of warship from Russia is nothing different from MIG deals with Ukraine. This was started in competition with UNP selling Hangbangtota to China and kept the entire commissions within them.

Almost all presidents after JR came to power with a promise of abolishing the EP. Sinhala Politicians, when they write deeds they discount it as only deed and tear it off, when they promise something then latter they dismiss it as only a promise. So changing constitution, the abolition of EP is now in limbo.

As CC, he asked to abolish the EP in 100 days. But the 19A came about 6 months later. 3 Years later the steering committee draft came out. Steering committee final report, Draft Constitution, Constitution, referendum…. He knows he cannot win election. He is on a strong mood to spread Wahhabi Buddhism to gain popularity. He, because some superior principles they hold, declares that Lankawe cannot move along with the world on civilization- only because spreading Wahhabi Buddhism is path left for him to win election. Now like the Weeping Widow Sirimavo, he is playing dramas in the Cabinet to collect sympathy from Sinhala Buddhist.

The son may have briefed him on what is going on in the net. He can better brief him about his escapades. The real issue is MY3 is exercising his leverage on the system. The Cabinet Secretary works for him and could stall Cabinet business for ages. Message is clear, HE is in command. The other option for the UNP is to say enough is enough and obtain a 2/3 majority (which they might get) to dissolve the house . But will that be suicidal to other “Scammers” whose escapades are not yet detected?

President should also put his house in order. Jokers like Dilan P, Dayasiri J, Premjayanth, SB and to a lesser extent John S and Nimal S think they’re the people who brought this Government. They were the worst criticizers. UNP ers should salute the behaviour of young Duminda, Amaraweera and Vijithamuni for their exemplary behaviour. But right now it has gone to extremes with the Bond issue. If they’ve ascertained a loss of Rs11Billion they should recover it fast. But what about the money Dubai banks, as President divulged Rs 3B advance payment on Nilwala Project, Hedging Deal Inferior quality Oil Issue why he’s keeping quiet. The more they hammer they will get a few of JO votes, it’s the same with Ungrateful Sirasa.UNPers hardly watch their news other than a few teledramas. But they have their own agendas of which they’ll never get Ranil’ blessings

One has to be extraordinarily competent to reach the top of any political party. Sirisena was brought in by the UNP as Ranil did not have the guts to contest MR.
The gamarala sold his birthright to become President and now realises that it is no easy job.Yahapalanaya has shown a major crack and is about to self destruct. The whole country should be happy that this menace calledYahapalana is at last going to be destroyed. So all those foreign funded NGOS who helped create Yahapalanya will now be quaking in their boots. Mr. President, Which job can you do? When you were the Mahaweli minister you said you could not do a certain project (and blamed MR for that. You forgot that there was a war at the time and MR had to divert all funds and resources to it.) Then, you were the health minister, and you said later you could not do something related to drugs. (We have forgotten it since what you had done later had no much public impact either).
Now you say you can not run the government and blame the UNP. We knew that someday in the near future you would say this (because there is an election in the vicinity).
Your constant anger toward MR has made him the most popular person in Sri Lanka. On the other hand the same anger and your ambitious request about extending your term period has turned you to an unfit person to govern the country. It looks like that you are having nightmares about what you did after the hopper supper with MR. Is that a direct result of Ditthadamma vedaniya kamma? I’m just curious.

The President should remain calm as usual ,who is Gamegode Marikar ,who have forgotten his humble beginnings to insult our President , The President is wasting his prestige by giving importance to kadde -evamu may gonava (lets use this cattle as a scajegoat) ,other than him able to speak fluent Sinhalese ,he has got nothing to prove he is capable at , no ethics ,no charisma, limited political knowledge (wonder if he even has that) HE. Must understand that there are a lot of people who have respect and hope in him .If Ranil can’t put in place this tree climbing gammegodaya Marikar ,we the people will do it for him.,We are not going to put up with insulting our President who gave us peace .

“I can’t do this job: ” Dear Mr. President, before you do anything, please think of voters like me and my family who had faith in you and voted accordingly. We also had faith on the PM but unfortunately, he is behaving like a school boy at the Royal- Thomian big match and cannot be taken seriously anymore. That dismays us. But knowing that you are there, we did not lose hope.

Democracy is an inherently self-correcting control system. It is not perfect. But it is the best out of a bad lot of governing systems known to man, where, bad policies and bad politicians can be changed and disastrous mistakes be reversed. The best thing about democracy is that all these can be done without shedding blood.

With all those powers in your hands, you have to be a molder of consensus, not just a searcher for it. As Roosevelt said “Speak softly and carry a big stick and you will go far” . Dogs may bark but the caravan has to keep on rolling.

It is human nature not to speak much on good things but to loudly complaint about the bad. One of the great changes is the freedom that we have now to voice our opinions without let or hindrance. Every day, every moment this new found freedom rejuvenates us like a breath of fresh air. We are grateful for that.

You are our only hope now and we are going to vote for you because as Simon Sinek said “Leadership is not about the next election, it’s about the next generation”. You have been doing okay. Just go ahead and the Putujjana will be right behind you.

Rodrigo, what we have to say about this President is: “Speak tough and rough; carry nothing (he has now forgotten his sword too at home), and you will go nowhere”.

If HE The President’s comment infuriates a bunch of people ,that means the hat suits them ,let them wear it.Yes we the people know who the present crooks are . The problem is none of the citizens of this country got balls to go after them , they got no balls to ask them to account for every cent that came into the country after Rajapakshes left ,Rajapakshes have become a convenient side tract . if an individual who is among the Minority
and one who is sincere and moderate brings up the topic ,a bunch of goons of the crooks from all communities start Mudd slinging at him or her &as its an inborn habbit of most Sri Lankans never to investigate, but to trust speculation as long as the individual is not in line with their mindset ,they let the crooks go free.

Ramona you sound a typical fake Christian ( ie ,Zionist sponsored Evangelical ,who are allowed to remain discretely in their own religion, but paid well to promote disharmony in developing countries. People like you will soon be exposed. It is none of your business about The President affrication and love for his faith

All this because of the multi-billion rupee bond scam issue where the UNP leadership is directly involved. UNP politicians wanted the president to support them on the bond scam inquiry which had already gained momentum to destabilize UNP’s standing in the present political arena. It is obvious that UNP leadership wanted the president to support them in every corrupted deal they are involved. So naturally, Minister Marikar unleashed verbal abuse on the president by calling him ‘Pick Pocket’. Can a responsible minister make such a drastic comment in public against a president? This may be the first instant.

You don’t want to do any thing other than the people asked you to do. Punish looters, murderers and who have done a lot of wrongdoings. Let police and judiciary to carry on their duties independently. Don’t intervene with their duties. No matter how much powerful the criminals are, don’t let them to escape from the law. Not only for the people who have been involved in the bond scam during the period between 2015 to 2017,appoint presidential commission to investigate all the bond deals done between 2008 and 2015. Simply give orders to reveal who killed Lasantha, Ekneligoda , Thajudeen and Raviraja. Only option you have is to fulfill what you were asked to do during the last presidential election.

if he cannot run the govt anymore the only course of action is to resign
since he never practices what he preaches it will never happen
the unp is merely retaliating to what he said in his latest election speeches
this situation would not have arisen if he had contested the election together with his coalition partner
    instead of going it alone

Hypothetical Chess Game: Picture this. In 2015 elections, Ranil runs for President, wins in a landslide victory and forms a UNP only government. On the adage ‘Home First’ his first act is to balance the UNP books, which is heavily in the red. He gets Mahendra and goes through all the motions of an innocent Bond issue (which is the only real part of this hypothetical story). There is no one to shout Hora! Hora! And the operation goes ahead with 100% success without anyone so much as batting an eyelid. Overnight, UNP becomes the wonder party of Asia.
Why is there is no one to shout Hora! Hora! Because MR and Co. are not there to do that. They are arrested and in jail. (Sorry that was the first act – Neutralize the opposition – the second being the heist). Do the perpetrators feel guilty about all this? No, because according to ‘Chetanahan Bhikkave Kammam Vadami’, it is the purpose behind the act that decides whether it is bad or good Karma. The purpose here is to develop the country so that Sri Lanka becomes the wonder of Asia – and UNP becomes the wonder political party of Asia. Who can say that is bad?

Why was MR not arrested, in the real story? Because, he wanted have a Black piece in the chess game that would keep the White King of his side always on the defensive.

Everything is a Casino game thereafter and the Putujjana has no idea that they are being sold alive to other powerful countries. Guys, be happy that what happened, happened. Things could have been very much worse. It must be the Hatara Varam Devas who came to the aid of Lanka.

I think we all got it wrong…
There is no issues between Sira and Dr Ranil..Sira in fact has given a personal copy of the Bond Report plus the other 34 to Galleon Ravi
.Galleon Ravi obviously want to study them thoroughly , because he has not much to do nowadays, besides advising and protecting Sira from undesirable SLFpeers,, according to Ravi’s recent revelations to the Colombo media..
Sira only went for a Toilet Break, according to Cabinet Minister Mr Smarasinghe. But he didn’t say whether it is No1 or 2..
But Samare had a go at the poor reporter , by ridiculing him for asking stupid questions from Samare…

When everybody claims doctorates even with fake certificates and some with even no certificates, why on earth did Prez. go into a frenzy to victimize harmless SAITM students studying genuinely, selected with proper criteria to become real doctors. Even evil dictators do not harm almost 1000 future healers of their nation, however deranged or insane their mental stress is. Since he pleased GMOA without understanding the issue, Commission made a wrong shift blunder involving different agendas of VCs, Deans, Faculty teachers, non medical frustrated uni. radicals, utopians, job agents, politicians and not the least of which are suicidal parental death squads. LTTE nowhere.

Why this panic to abolish SAITM without agreeing with GMOA in govt. hospitals for realistic workable solution without any injustice. GMOA wants SAITM as state students to work one unified govt. health service for this nation. Ad hoc privatization in changing govts. and their policies will destabilize 17000 doctors in 90 branch unions, apart from dizzying SAITM doctors obstructed until the right path is followed. In this melee, jealous radicals and parents seek revenge. That should be detected and stopped. RW should not underestimate unity of service, avoiding disgraceful privatizing bond scams, and unrealistic unworkable academics. Country is sick of these robbers.

Wayamba and Sabaragamuwa being established as clinical training should include large undisputed teaching hospitals. SAITM affiliated en bloc to the requesting Moratuwa uni with the Kalutara hospital would be an acceptable working solution without any lack to shout about. If Prez. cant work, before he leaves, must at least put SAITM back on gear after neutralizing it.

Mr President Havent you read in the paper that you cannot fool people all the time. Most of these are the consequences of you not taking action at the correct time. From the initial mistake by taking the people the voters showed the door from the National list and to saying FCID Dilrukshi Dias that she should have taken permission before arresting people, the Citizens have lost faith in you.
You say you need to address corruption what happened to the corruption you said in the era of 2008-20015…
Tell you actions talk Mr President.

Don’t worry Fatty Orange Utan President of USA also throws far worse tantrums and any news that is negative about him, gets him to throw a Tweet Tantrum. Ask the US Embassy people. Trump threatens free media and made a fat obese unfit arse of himself by creating Fake news awards. Yet his base the White Christian older male and the Evangelical Christians love him. It does not matter he paid off a Porn Star to silence her when he decided to run for President . He practices corruption by favoring his own family resorts for holidays. Has so far played more than twice the number of Gold rounds than Obama. He lies daily but the economy is positive, DJIA is positive so he can threaten media, tweet lies and change his mind every 6 minutes. So Sirisena is far better.

H.E. cant say “I cant” He has to complete the job he started. He put SAITM out of order and did injustice. Now must correct his mistake.
    1. To MBBS, give internship training in all 4 branches, total being 2 years.
    2. To all STUDENTS enrolled and paid full fees, affiliate to Moratuwa uni.. with Kalutara Hospitals added to Malabe. The billions recovered from Perpetual Treasuries UNP frauds and crooks can look after many institutes of Higher education. No excuse for injustice. SAITM not found fraudulent, and even former President added Z scores to it and gave scholarships, with published media photos.
    3. NEW entrants to SLIIT or any other must align with UGC and SLMC for a fresh private start. Don’t penalize innocent SAITM student citizens, already obstructed, but govt. is obliged to give justice as they already have a verdict of internship order to SLMC
