Intellectual Tradition?

By Palitha Hitigedara

Mahinda_RajapaksaIt is well-known that there are many people to bring back the defeated president Mahinda Rajapaksa. Among them are corrupted politicos who want to cover up their corrupt activities. After January 8, 2015, it is this corrupted group who enjoys the benefits of freedom. One can understand why drug smugglers, underworld thugs, and the like wanting to bring back their pet leader. But under Yahapalana government some so-called intellectuals who variously benefitted from Mahinda’s corrupt regime are also enjoying the relative freedom won after January 8th to regroup with their defeated leader. Following intellectuals are going to meet Rajapaksa in Kandy. Among them is Dr. Vijitha Nanayakkara, a man who became a vice chancellor after failing in an attempt to enter parliament from Kandy in 2010 general election. Mahinda Rajapaksa the one who started the tradition of making vice chancellors out of defeated politicians!! Perhaps, this group wants to breathe new life into that ‘wonderful tradition’. It is a shame that someone like Professor GH Peiris has decided to keep company with these fellows of mediocrity.

Universities are full of MARA cronies including many of the VCs.

Sad to see some good intellectuals included in the list.

Most of them are opportunists waiting for a wind fall from politicians and that is the truth.

The biggest intellectual tradition is to call this a democracy and constantly attack and ridicule anyone in the opposite camp.

So the half the country minus half a million votes, half the country is stupid, corrupt, drug ethanol dealers and people afraid of their past misdeeds. The rest of the simple population are Sinhala Modayas or rabid nationalists-racists.

Don’t vote for the MR faction, don’t vote of a MR-supporting UNFPA, don’t vote for the JVP, JHU, TNA , all vote for Ranil and his UNP, and even if you people vote for other parties, shamelessly agree with everything and everyone in an UNP led government.

No doubt Kerry will hail it as Democracy, the kind America likes. If it doesn’t they can always uninstall and install a new version with all the fixes they want.

    Excellent Analysis.

There is an old saying ” Sathya Usas Dharmaya ( Truth is the highest Dharma ) “.

Dear Palitha Hitigedara YOU HAVE SPOKEN THE TRUTH. Hope all the young voters of Dharma Deepa SriLanka, regardless of their religion, race or language and without going along party line , will vote for best candidates in the forthcoming election in August.

Country badly needs a national government to maxmise her potential and go forward. The parliament needs high calibre MPs who will put the country above their party .

Can this intellectual name the corrupt Mahinda regime MPs and or Ministers who have been charged, now that Ranil’s F…..CID has been working OT for 6 Months?.

I am talking about real court proceedings .

Not the calls to innocent people to report to 4th Floor because John Amaratunga’s or even Ravi Karunanayaka’s pandan karayas ( Torch Bearers ) sent a list to Ranil

Yahapalanays biggest drug bust was only yesterday in Wattala where one Kumaraswami was caught with heck of a lot of heroin in the boot.

And his accomplice is a well respected businessman in Pollonnaruwa not Medumulana

And the other culprit or the associate of the Businessman was shot under Mahinda palanaya last year..

Why did it take so long for the UNP Yahapalan Police to catch the rest?

This is just one example of the Bull Shit which is going on on Yahapalana watch.

But the real issues like the CB Boss giving the SIL 3 % more than the going rate on family investments in our Lankan Bonds dn’t get a mention from these Intellectuals.

Senior Minister John Amaratunga goes around accusing two Government Institutions of importing Drugs, without naming them.

Aren’t these two Institutions under Yahapalanay?.

Does this Intellectual want all his Intelligentsia to support this Yahapalanaya ?.

Or should we say Boru Palanaya?..

what ever happen to the freedom to meet, discuss argue and debate. Idiots like the author of the above blob(not blog) think that attending a meeting is akin to political support, holding a discussion is akin to cronyism and corruption. Thank the lord we still have intellectuals left in this country who are willing to; make a stand, have an opinion, meet, discuss and debate.

Going by the logic of this idiot, our foreign minister who met LTTE sympathiser Diaspora groups is also a LTTE symathiser, LTTEr etc.

After having met Mahinda Rajapakse before his defeat in the 8/1 Presidential election, I am content that he is the best suited leader for Sri Lanka.

If he becomes the Premier, I will be supporting him. I can contribute my talents to enhance his strength further.

If I am invited, I will campaign for him in the Tamil hinterlands.

Intellectuals are not judged by merit but by papers mostly bought over. You needn’t go to school. In Sri Lanka you can register a few labels as your ‘creation’ under intellectual property to become an ‘intellectual’ and claim all the benefits of an intellectual. The police will file cases even for possession of those labels, common designs. After the magistrate court found it dubious, district court will say no, not so sound case. The pseudo intellectual takes lakhs as settlement money, by the time! I don’t care for the intellect of a person if his integrity is zero. If not bribed and talk filth with veiled threat, one’s integrity is also at risk. No one is there to help such intellectuals with probity if they won’t spend a lot, give gifts and lavish throw parties! Corrupt tradition.

It is obvious why crooks and criminals would want Mara back in business. Naturally they would begin to feel at ease.

But what surprises me is, why some people who are not criminally inclined are asking for mara, not considering the kind of damage he will cause.

    Untill I read this study:

A group of scientists placed 5 monkeys in a cage and in the middle, a ladder with bananas on top.

Every time a monkey went up the ladder, the scientists soaked the rest of the monkeys with cold water.

After a while, every time a monkey went up the ladder, the other ones beat up the one on the ladder.

After some time, no monkey dared to go up the ladder regardless of the temptation.

Scientists then decided to substitute one of the monkeys. The first thing this new monkey did was to go up the ladder. Immediately the other monkeys beat him up.

After several beatings, the new member learned not to climb the ladder even though never knew why.

The second monkey was substituted and the same occurred. The first monkey participated on the beating for the second monkey. A third monkey was changed and the same was repeated. The fourth was substituted and the beating was repeated and finally the fifth monkey was replaced.

What was left was a group of 5 monkeys that even though never received a cold shower, continued to beat up any monkey who attempted to climb the ladder.

If it was possible to ask the monkeys why they would beat up all those who attempted to go up the ladder, I bet their answer would be: “I don’t know. That’s how things are done around here”

    Conclusion:

Just like those monkeys our people are used to following without thinking.

People must learn to use logic and basic reasoning to analyse situations rather than being sentimental and emotional in coming to conclusions. This quality of being able to reason is what sets us humans apart from animals. We have to use it and build a better nation.

Don’t miss the opportunity to share this with others as they might be asking themselves why we continue to do what we are doing if there is a different way out there.

I fully agree, Mara had dragged Sri Lanka to the level of some African banana republic.

Even though he goes to Buddhist temples and behaves like a sheep. Mara is actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing, with no consideration for the future of this nation, he is simply looking for his betterment and that of his family, at our expense. He is ready to mortgage this country and our lives!

In that regard I give him 100% respect in that he is an excellent propagandist. This is the same skill that VP too had. These two are like the two faces of a coin. Though Mara beat VP at his game!

It is upto us to either follow this idiot and be fools or to fight for truth, justice and equity.

Mara can and will only lead us astray. Sri Lankans should learn to think, its high time that we put our Buddhist philosophy into practice. Its time for us to start thinking of being a developed country like Singapore or Hongkong.

Politics is a dirty pit, a load of garbage. I will distance myself very soon from all of these things. Nothing is worthwhile – Venerable Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera

I agree with him. I will do the same. I may help the Sri Lankan children to have English skills, in order to build their lives in other countries. This country won’t come up. We can not change this, let’s accept the fact and move on.

Bribes are given to enhance sycophancy . This is the corrupt practice of corrupt leaders, Car permits, Houses , Land jobs for the under qualified, jobs for party faithful etc all given at the expense of the country to buy allegiance to the leader. MR was a master at that. Country has suffered immensely . God only knows whether we will ever raise our heads. I only hope people consider it before they vote.

Here is a guy who does not know his 6 from 4 (hayak hatharak notherena, according to a newspaper cartoon) and thinks 58 is bigger than 62. In fact he is so bad in numbers that he does not know how many billions he owns.

Only a human who eats grass or a cow who eats rice would vote for him.

G.L.Pieris only a UNP’s party hopping Sinhala Intellectual. That is for what the brains are used by the Sinhala Intellectuals. In other words, if not for corruption, it is for wash the Srikotha or 307 T. B. Jayah Mawatha, wash rooms. Dr. Vijitha Nanayakkara does not have any degree different from the Old King’s PhD(Russia’s) or the one the Son Prince is working to get(from Jeyawardanapura).

An old Tamil sentence is saying if you have murdered a thousand, you are half a doctor. So, it appears that the Russian Tradition is one if you have finished a lahk you get a PhD. If you have fished off 1.5 lahk in Mullivaikkal, it is an honers in the PhD.

Mr Palitha – Okay you are worried about Peradaniya Professors siding with MR and according to you most of these Profs are useless guys and somewhat crooks – Why are you not talking about other white color crooks in the present Gov. – Like CB Govier A Mahendran , Ravi K, John Ameratunga – CB Governor manipulated the Bond issue to the advantage of his SIL – how can any committe clear him – how come BOC funded a major share of Mahendran’s Son in law’s company without any coletteral to back those funds – does anybody think that is a secret deal between SIL and BOC – not possible – why could not CB instruct BOC to utilise those finds directly to Purchase bonds at the lower rate of 9.5% – Why was the rate increased to 12.5 and increase the value of the total issue to 10 Billion – how much extra interest we are paying per annum to SIL’s ( now only his relatives) for a period of 30 years – whose money is this ?? – Is’nt this a day light robbery of State Funds – Why PM and FM going overboard to protect these theIves – Had MSalso gone insane to protect these robbers – Why not also inquire about the sudden resignation of Custom Chief – we understand that the reason is the pressure exerted by top most roughs in MoF to release various items imported by guys closer to Gov. without paying proper duty – including the banned GlycophosphaE – MS banned this substances but the Company bought two years reqt.before the ban and cleared the stuff two days after the ban as the ban is only for importing – not for distributing – this is a good example which shows the double standard of MS because he is from an area where lots of people are suffering from Kidney disease due to excessive use of this chemical –
