I’ve Received Death Threats, Allegations Against Me Are Baseless: Namal

Namal Rajapaksa has issued a statement in response to the allegations that are being leveled against him by the common Opposition, stating they ‘have no basis’.

Namal and MahindaMember party of the common Opposition movement, Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) during a press conference earlier this week charged the former President’s son with various allegations including rape and sexual harassment of young girls.

While claiming the accusations are baseless in a blog post that he tweeted off his official Twitter handle (@RajapaksaNamal) this morning, he has said that he is more saddened than being angry.

He has gone on to state that although they never claimed to be ‘perfect’ they have always had the ‘best interests of the country and Sri Lankan people in mind. . .’

“This is true not only of Mahinda Rajapaksa but of us as his children as well. We were brought up to take responsibility for our actions. As such, if I have done any wrong, I am fully prepared to face the consequences,” he has noted.

In his blog post, he has also expressed concern over harassment of Rajapaksa supporters, stating it is okay to ‘come after him’ but not those who supported his father as they have not broken any law.

He has also appealed to the new President to safeguard his supporters and take action against those carrying out the harassment.

Meanwhile, local media reported that he has lodged a complaint with the Tangalle Police last evening about death threats that he has been receiving via phone calls, demanding his resignation from politics.

We publish below the statement in full;

BASELESS ALLEGATIONS

Dear supporters and friends,

As you may have already heard, certain individuals are coming after me with a vengeance, trying to implicate me in a number of alleged wrongdoings. We expected this. Those who are older than I am will remember well that this is the usual fate that members of the SLFP must suffer whenever we lose elections. It has happened in the past, and the same is happening this time also.

I want to tell all my supporters that these allegations have no basis. More than being angered, I am saddened. While we never claimed to be perfect, we always had the best interest of the country and the Sri Lankan people in mind. This is true not only of Mahinda Rajapaksa but of us as his children as well. We were brought up to take responsibility for our actions. As such, if I have done any wrong, I am fully prepared to face the consequences. However, I am certain of my innocence with regard to the outrageous allegations that have been put forth against me.

As a politician, coming after me is OK because I have the strength and support system to face it. But unfortunately, I’m not the only one. Many of our strong supporters – ordinary citizens – from around the country have also undergone various types of harassment. Most of these individuals didn’t break the law – they only supported Mahinda Rajapaksa, and they are being punished for that choice.

I appeal to the new President to take measures to safeguard our supporters around the country and to take action against those who are carrying out this harassment. I hope he will remember that these supporters of Mahinda Rajapaksa were once strong supporters of his as well, so please ensure their safety.

We welcome the new government’s initiatives of “good governance,” but we make a strong appeal not to allow certain individuals misuse this initiative to fulfill personal vendettas under the guise of “good governance.”

Mali if your papa would have won the election think about what would you do to the opponents? We all remember what you did to Fonseka! Withdrawing security and putting an ex presidents life in danger, kicking out a CJ from her position, breaking the opposition, killing thousands of civilians, killing journalists, abusing the power and stealing state money etc etc etc..So it’s okay for you to level baseless allegations and send an army general to jail but we somehow have to forget about all the mass murders your papa and his uncle did and also the petty rape and abuse cases against you. You are still an amateur in the world of politics, a baby so this is going to be a lesson for you. You and your papa acted as if gods. Welcome to mortal world.

      Namal Rajapaksa ,

The Law will catch up with you. You have to answer some questions, along with your family and your cronies…

      JVP action perturbs Rajapaksas
      WEDNESDAY, 14 JANUARY 2015 10:21

It is revealed that fraudsters have been highly disturbed as the JVP took measures yesterday (13th) to complain to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption regarding plunder of public money by Mahinda Rajapaksa, his family and those around them.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Rohitha Rajapaksa, two sons of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, have suddenly obtained general passports in place of the VIP passports they possessed. Namal Rajapaksa had stated he would face any charges against him. It is to prevent those who are around them from being disheartened.

However, the move against frauds and corruption begun by the JVP but was unexpected by the masses within such a short time, has enlivened the masses but the fraudsters have fallen to a state of despair say reports.

The new passport number for Rohitha Rajapaksa is N5375169 while Yoshitha Rajapaksa’s new passport number is N5375216. Before this they had VIP passports.

Rohitha Rajapaksa is undergoing training in NASA in the USA but has been brought down for Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s election campaign.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa became a lieutenant in the Navy despite not having the necesary educational qualifications. He enjoyed special privileges in the Navy as the son of the President.

However, with Mahinda Rajapaksa’s defeat at the presidential election Yoshitha Rajapaksa was withdrawn from being an officer of SL Navy in the early hours on the 9th.

President Sirisena’s son Daham Sirisena Allegedly Misbehaved at “Clique”Night Club in Colombo 7 After getting Cameras de-activated by his Security Personnel Who Accompanied him in 7 Vehicles.
Posted by Administrator on 14 January 2015, 12:57 am

(The Following news Item is exclusively reported in the “Lankanewsweb”website. It is reproduced here with due acknowledgement and accreditation to the website concerned)

Daham Sirisena, the son of the new president, following the footsteps of Malaka Silva, Narada Dissanayake, Kanchana Wijesekara, Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Lohan Ratwatte – all who had sold there fathers – and has begun running riot in the very beginning of the Maithri Paalanaya.

Last night (10), Daham had arrived at Clique, a night club at Race Course, Reid Avenue, Colombo 07 accompanied by PSD men in seven vehicles. Entering the place, he had ordred its security to deactivate all the CCTV cameras there.

The security men had refused to do so, but had been forced to deactivate the cameras, under duress by PSD personnel, and then Daham had started playing havoc, harassing others at the night club.

Those at the night club started leaving, saying that if this son is not tamed early, he will end up ruining his father.

We kindly request the young Daham Sirisena that he will have to be treated in the same way those sons had been treated if he continues to act like this in the very beginning of daylight after the end of the hour of the devil.

What the HELL is the matter with these political offspring!

If this is true about the President’s son I think we should engage in a mass mailing of protest to the President to reign in this hooligan or suffer a massive disenchantment and loss of support. One has such a different impression of the father, whose quiet, undemonstrative, unrhetorical demeanour in public recently must have impressed many people who otherwise had no knowledge of him.

I dont know about rehabilitation programmes for former LTTErs, etc, but certainly there seems to be a need for such a programme for political offspring. That should be included in the 100 days — round-up and rehabilitation to become good citizens.

It looks like Daham Sirisena is well on the way to losing support for his father.

    Dear Namal,

Agree. Harassment of you guys must stop. After all you are citizens too. No matter how despicable you have been.

Even you have rights and obligations under our constitution. Besides kicking people when they are down is never noble. You did fall inhumanely deep in just one night.

As you request yourself, law enforcement, not street Justice should go after you. I agree. Otherwise new Sri Lanka will also look like your Dad’s lawless, despotic regime.

    Cheers!

PS: New GOSL will grant your request. They will come after both you, your extended family and your supporters in accordance with the law. One step at a time. Therefore do not fly away at night. Just relax. Enjoy your time off. Let Justice take its’ course.

Did your master thought about this when he ordered hitting civilians with white phosphorus and cluster bombs or killing Lasantha, Tharaki etc in cold blood?

Why we need the waste state resources in making legal proceedings for this scum and his extended family when there is enough proof to send them to few life sentences.

The best I can think is to give them the same treatment that the Police was giving some criminals ‘tried to shoot us when taken to show the hidden weapons’ and finish them off.

The liberated Iraq, Libya and Czechoslovakia did not take legal proceedings for the ex-dictators children who was involved in extra-judicial killings and all other misdeeds.

      Well Matilda,
Please name us one please to send Namal to life sentence?

    • 2
      0

      Matilda
I urge you to restrain yourself and not egg anyone on to violence – it never pays.

Despite their ancient civilizations, Iraq and Libya have descended into chaos, largely spurred by commercially or geo-politically motivated interventions by opportunistic external powers. Sri Lankans are lucky to have avoided that in the main, apart from India’s flirtations in the 80-s triggered by JRJ-s policies.

Following the trauma of the JVP and LTTE violence, let us try to remain in peace, dear madam and let justice take its course. The previous regime perverted all functioning systems, checks and balances in the country and they will have to pay for it by proper recourse to the law.

      Amen.

There are reports that Namal is one of the most wealthiest men in Sri Lanka. The Rajapaksa’s have been guilty of nepotism, corruption, and behind many of the killings, disappearances, and missing, in this country.
Time will tell, and investigations will reveal exactly who broke the law. The mere fact that websites like ColomboTelegraph were blocked shows that they had a lot to hide. The guilty are afraid, and they silenced those who pointed to their crimes, or criticized their dictatorship. This family has done too much of damage to the country. Port, airports, lakes, and so many project were done to show development, but it also made them richer personally. Look at the flashy cars that the Rajapaksa’s used during their reign. They were not a wealthy family until they started to rule the country.
THe Rajapaksas used this country as if it belong to THEM, and as if they were entitled to reap the benefits.
They should be all thrown into jail, if found guilty of crimes.

    Dear Namal Baba,

I am not obliged to feel sorry for you, your papa and uncles. Let me tell the days I felt sorry and pathetic, not able to do anything at those times, not even able to pen our disgust.

    1. When our General who won the war for us was arrested like a dog.
    2. When the Maha Sangha was stopped by your Papa and Uncle by force, from holding a Maha Sangha Mela, following the arrest of the General.
    3. When Lasantha Wickramatunge was killed like a dog in the high security zone in the broad day light.
    4. When Bharatha Lakshman was gunned down by the gang of your Dumi Ayya.
    5. When gun shots were fired at Wijedasa Rajapaksha’s residence.
    6. When poor people were evacuated without any notice from their homes by your Uncle under military guard.
    7. When our Chief Justice was fired like an employee by an Employer, your PAPA.
    8. When your papa raised the Electricity bills and other taxes of poor people to sky high to support you and your cronies high and extravagant life styles.
    9. When your papa never allowed the people of the North East to live as human beings, after winning the war. Barricading them into submission.
    10. When your PAPA and UNCLE let lose the BALU SENA DOGS on the minorities and left them in the lurch.

I am sure, your plight is nothing when compared to above, isn’t it Namal Baba?

You can write describing yourself as a saint but your conscience would know how many wrong things you may have committed which are against the state and its people. The public now knows well that how much lies you all cough out.

Let the law takes its course and punish the culprits. There will not be any jungle courts as practised during your time.

What a noble thought from this scumbag who thought he was a prince and infallible. You deserve every threat that you receive. No one is going to shed a tear for you. Unlike your father and uncles however who murdered and plundered and encouraged rapists and drug pedlers and thugs the new government will punish you but in accordance with the law. Look forward to a long stay in prison. Sleeping on the floor will remind you of how the great general Fonseka was treated by your scumbag family. What goes around comes around and you reap what you sow.

Are you scared to go back? Are you worried what your uncle Goat would have done to the opponents if they have lost might be done to you by someone?

I agree that the new government should take legal action against those who try to harass people involved in the last government. However, I also believe that legal action should be taken against individuals associated with the last government who abused position/power.

I guess Namal may be remembering what happened to Mr. Thushara Jayarathna, the law college student who complained about the way Namal got special (unlawful) favors at law college during examinations. Thushara escaped death with severe cuts in his hands, inflicted by goons, and now live in exile. He is a psychiatric patient due to that traumatic experience. May be karma is catching up for Namal.

Rajapaksa clans I thought, were great villains but they have now proved to me that they are a bunch of idiots in the earth. Do not they know what happend to the brutal animals such as Hitler, Mussolini, pol pot, idi Ameen, , sadam, kadaffi, Ali Bhutto, prabaharan, bin laden, and all kind of similar blood thirsty murduerers who in the name of nationalism and / or religion looted their own nations and ended up in ugly and dirty ends. This little prince namal fool would have not properly taught by his tuition master the so called law academic gl perils who is mostly considered as a clown in the university circle for the advantages he enjoyed from Mahinda for performing dirty jobs.
All Sri lankans look for proper legal actions are to be taken against all those Rajapaksa clans plus the de facto Cj, university clown, biitrayer of JHU – gammahila, and blood thirsty gotta mad dog, Also if any who could be identified after proper inquiry in this junta or for any other illegal activities and or crimes in the country such as Lasantha, hirunika’s father and other eseveral hundreds.
Each and every murder committed by by this ruthless criminals shall be taken separately to the courts and punished under the law..
Victims shall be encouraged to take up the case and make formal complaints.
We very respectfully advice the young MS NOT to follow the Rajapaksa princess and make black spot on his great father.
