Jayalalithaa’s Demise Is A Great Loss To The Tamil People In Sri Lanka: Sampanthan

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalitha Jayaram‘s demise is a great loss not only to the people of Tamil Nadu but also to the Tamil people in Sri Lanka, says the Opposition Leader and the Leader of the Tamil National Alliance, R. Sampanthan.

Selvi J Jayalalithaa

Selvi J Jayalalithaa

Sending a condolence message Sampanthan has today said: “Jayalalitha also had a special concern for the resolution of the issues pertaining to the rights of the Tamil speaking people in Sri Lanka. Her concern resulted in the passing of several resolutions at the Tamil Nadu State Assembly and frequent interactions with the Central Government in New Delhi on Sri Lanka.”

We publish below the condolence message in full:

It is truly a sad day for the people in Tamil Nadu as they have lost one of their most influential and charismatic leaders, Hon. Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jayaram. Hon. Jayalalitha entered politics in the 1980s after she withdrew herself from the film industry. She played a crucial role in the AIADMK party, which was then led by its founder the late Mr. M.G Ramachandran. Later she was elected as the leader of the AIADMK and continued to be the leader until her death.

Late Hon. Jayalalitha was elected as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on six separate occasions and served the people of Tamil Nadu. In order to uplift the living standards of the people of Tamil Nadu, during her different tenures, she initiated many development schemes to great success.

The Hon. Chief Minister also had a special concern for the resolution of the issues pertaining to the rights of the Tamil speaking people in Sri Lanka. Her concern resulted in the passing of several resolutions at the Tamil Nadu State Assembly and frequent interactions with the Central Government in New Delhi on Sri Lanka.

As the Leader of the Tamil National Alliance, I am grateful for the work of late Hon. Jayalalitha and the desire she had to find a solution to the issues faced by the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. I also take this opportunity to place on record our sincere appreciation for all the support and facilities Hon. Jayalalitha and her government rendered to the Sri Lankan Tamil refugee community in Tamil Nadu.

Her demise is a great loss not only to the people of Tamil Nadu but also to the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. There is no doubt that her leadership to Tamil Nadu and to Indian politics will have a significant place in history. At this time of great sorrow, on behalf of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka and the Tamil National Alliance, and as the Leader of the Opposition in the Sri Lankan Parliament, I wish to convey my deepest sympathies to the members of her family, the people of Tamil Nadu, and the members of her party and government.

May her soul rest in peace

When MGR died, about 150 Tamils committed suicide.

For Velupillai Prabakaran only 10 Tamils committed suicide.

So over the next few days we will know where she is in the scale.

You are right she is not in the scale of

MGR – who was a true servant of the ordinary Tamils and who unlike Amma did not loot the state funds to amass mass wealth from corruption.

.. or Velupillai Prabakaran – who created one of the great liberation movement LTTE from scratch. The testimony to VP is that it required the might of the Indian, Pakistani and Chinese military to defeat him.

“And the greatest joke the liberators were hiding behind women and children…..such a low point”

The high point was when armed forces were hiding behind VP’s bump when IPKF paid a visit.

              I am not sure.

They should have stopped the Hindian IPKF landing on our soil in the first place, fought the Hindians, …. and not hiding behind VP’s bump.

“We enjoyed it to the fullest with a pop corn…”

You mean the cowards (SLA) hiding behind VP’s bump.

Scandalise Sinhala Buddhists, instigate Tamil Racism are the pillars. Hence, taking of the coffin of bogus history of this country is done greatly. Green blooded creatures have no idea about anything in deep but they are glad as long as Rajapakshes are attacked. They take no time to brand anyone who writes against ‘yahapalanaya’ as ‘pro-MRs’. Or money-takers from MRs’. Such a stupid psychos!

Life is a circus!! I categorically disagree that this woman called Amma by the Indians had made any impact on the Srilankan Tamils life and their fight for freedom.
I don’t think she had made any difference , there was always a Political rivalry between her and Karunanidi.
It was always a kind of competition that who does what first to Srilankan Tamils , the results of the competition ALWAYS HAD BEEN NIL. NO CHANGE WHAT SO EVER .
That’s the kind of Indian Politics .

Politicians of South India and the Politicians of Srilanka had been always self centred ,greedy and Drama kings and Queens.
Hope for better future for Tamil Nadu?
WRONG ASSUMPTION AND VIEWS THAT HER DEMISE A BIG LOSS FOR SRILANKAN ELAMISTS!!
I DONT THINK THE ELAMISTS ARE CRYING OVER HER LOSS.

In a country where all rivers filled with all diverse human extrementa – but be regarded as all sacred, what cant go wrong ?

No matter, microbiologists would prove the waters have all the unhygenic microbes, but they the majority would never say, that ganga water is contaminated.

Where superstitious belief is above everything – things can go only wrong. Just not even 5% of Indian population ( if population is 1200 mio it should be 60mio – the population of the UK) is believed to contribute to Software industry.

How lucky are those Indian people who could really LOVE their leaders.
From Mahatma Gandhi , Neru,….. even today many Indian really respect and have high regard towards ManMohan Singh, N Modi.. Most of these Indian leaders are respected by rest of the world leaders too, so India is respected.. Lot of Indian may felt JayaLalitha’s (even not a perfect human being) real love and affection towards them in their hart .. that created intolerable sadness…

Have we got a single leader respected in general as great human leader in Siri Lanka #$@#$… Premadasa.. killed so many young unarmed Sinhalese, beheaded humans and let public to see it. CBK is called whiskey drinking, always late president, JR called himself a supreme God and claimed in public radio that only thing he couldn’t do was converting a man to a women.. MR is a “Thug”.. Gota a mass murderer of unarmed humans (Sinhalese in 1988~89 as well with R Premadasa).. Very respected Org’s like RedCross and UN officers published books claiming MR/Gota are mass murderers of their own countrymen..
We never had a decent , intelligent, educated, book reading leaders even though they may not be perfect humans.. Would we ever get such sadness, like to feel we are useless without such loving, great, humane, leaders

When I was a kid I witness few in Sri Lanka too. Late Hon Dudley Senanayaka’s funeral way back in 1974 was one, sea of people from all corners of Lanka were assembled at Galleface green. later I saw similar crowd for late Vijay Kumaranatunge.

Sri Lankans are a cynical lot. They will **Pretend** to treat leaders or anybody like gods while they see some advantage to themselves. If it does not work out, gods will be vilified and thrown to the dogs.

Its a case of getting others to climb the murunga to pick coconuts. Too bad if they fall, but hopefully after the coconuts are picked.

Anything but superstitious. More like does not hurt to try it out, even auspicious times.

A woman who was corrupt, partisan and power hungry is being treated by you as a heroine. Her only claim to fame was acting with MGR – 328 kg of gold was found in her house – she celebrated the adopted sons wedding with 2000 foreign visitors and 14 days of celebrations that cost a billion Indian rupees.

On top of that she supported the now –neutered Tigers so that there will be no effect on her state that should be the true homeland of the Tamils – after all, 40 million live there.

So let us see her for what she was and realize the chronic obesity will threaten one’s life

I take it that you are “just saying” for the sake of saying it.

She never supported LTTE nor separate state until the demise of VP.

The Tamil Nadu population is about 72,147,030 in 2011 – aren’t you just saying for the sake of saying?

When are you going back to Tamil Nadu which is your ancestral home-land?

I am deeply distressed she did not like the LTTE but was very sympathetic to the Eelam Tamils and fought for their rights. A very forthright lady who thought what she said. It is a very sad day for the Eelam Tamils. A great Tamil who genuinely cared for all Tamils is gone. She was not a hypocrite.

Contrary to what many people stated she was not a Kannadiga but a Tamil and was very proud of this and took on the Kannadiga extremists in Bangalore, when in the 1970s they publicly asked her to apologise for stating that she is a Tamil and not a Kannadiga. She came out and bravely replied to the unruly Kannadiga mobs in chaste Kannada, that she has nothing to apologise for as what she stated was a fact. If they do not like facts it is their problem and not hers.

Jayalalitha was born in 1948 in the Mandyam region of Karnataka to a Tamil Iyengar Brahmin family that originated from Sri Rangam in the Trichinapalli district of Tamil Nadu. Where the famous Vaishnavite Ranganatha Swamy temple is located. This are,a Sri Rangam is a stronghold of Iyengar Brahmins. Her paternal grandfather who was an engineer migrated from Tamil Nadu to the then Mysore region of Karnataka. Her father Jayaram was a lawyer and her mother’s name was Vedavalli but she later took the name Sandya to act in movies. Although Jayalalitha was commonly called J. Jayalalitha, her actual given name was Komanavalli and her pet name was Ammu.

She was born in poverty and her parents were not rich as her father was a wastrel and had spent all the family wealth and he died when she was two her mother Vedavalli was forced to work to work as an actress to support the family support her family and she took the names Sandya and moved to Chennai . She had an older sibling Jayakumar who died in the 1990s.

Jayalalitha was a very good student and won all the awards for the state and wanted to be a lawyer but was forced to act when she was around 15 to support her family and she did this very well and became a famous actress. She has acted in Tamil Telugu Kannada Malayalam and one Hindi Movie Similarly She never wanted to be a politician and MGR more or less forced her to be one and she excelled in this too. She was an outsider in everyway A Brahmin to lead a largely caste hating anti Brahmin state and also a Dravidian party. Unlike other powerful Indian women in politics she came from the outside and won the hearts of the Tamil masses. She spoke very good and fluent Tamil and her English was impeccable. She also spoke very good Hindi, Kannada Telugu and Malayalam.
A great Tamil who has now left a void in Tamil Nadu and will be sadly missed.
Farewell to you from another Tamil Brahmin

She is an another former Actress-turned politicians.

Unfortunately, we dont have the kind of actresses to have reached the genuine human qualities of the likes of JL. That is why average folks call her ” AMMA”.

Our actresses who joined Rajapakshe brutal politics just wanted to be in spot light or just for nothing.

That woman from Balapitya, has been a laughing stock to this day. She cant even behave well in TV interviews.

    ” The evil that men do liveth after them;

The good is oft interred with their bones;”- Mark Antony’s speech at Julius Caessar’s funeral ( Shakespeare)

I hope the reverse is true for Jayalaltha and we hear of both the good and the wrongs she did, to understand her true legacy.

Echoing Shakespeare, ‘ She was indeed ambitious’, but was she grievously so?

What was her lasting legacy for Sri Lankan Tamils, as Sambanthan alludes?

She was indeed a very strong and commanding personality who was much adored. Was it because of the fact that she was a born actress with impressive intelligence? Was the ‘Amma’ image, a construction or genuine? Was her benivalance with state money a gift or a burden for Tamil Nadu? What was her personal share of this benevolence ?

Was she corrupt as many allege or was it a construction of those wh opposed her?

For whom has she left her alleged ‘Disproportionate’ wealth- to the people of Tamilnadu or the Sasikala family?

    Dr.Rajasingham Narendran

For whom has she left her alleged ‘Disproportionate’ wealth- to the people of Tamilnadu or the Sasikala family?

68 is a young age for a woman of immense wealth who had the funds to get the best medical treatment.

The rumour has it Sasikala family poisoned Jayalalitha over many years drip by drip.

      • 11
        9

There is no need to poison her. She was morbidly obese and could not even walk or climb any stairs.
She was a potato who was useful for New Delhi as she would keep a lid on Tamilnadu politics.
She was on ticking time bomb on the verge of going off.

Karunanidhi and his coterie of sons and daughters were playing good cop bad cop with Delhi. They were in bed with Congress. That’s why BJP Delhi preferred Jayalalitha to Karunanidhi and did everything including rigging the votes to bring her back. Have you forgotten the two container loads of cash that was caught coming from north to fund her elections?

Your theory should be no valid to anyone living in Europe and the US then ? How intelligent you should be – please call to BMJ… your thoughts can be useful to them…. my foot !

How many of women in those countries are morbidly obese ?

I think – had she gone through regular cardiac checks, her life could have been saved. She is said to be just 68yrs.

          • 4
            3

Yes, ones suffering from obsesity also face various kind of other health problems. That is person to person varied. I know two 3 houses away from us – there is a woman weighing over 150kgs is taken out for treatments by a crane system. Roads blocks cause us each time when her treatment are (2-3 hours)planned.
But most overweight- men and women seem live long here thanks to Krankenversicherung -Medical insurance and regular medical check ups.
Switzerland,Germany,Austria – all of them have more or less incidents. Obesity has lot to do with genetics too.

I do not think that Sambandan’s words should be taken seriously it was a typical choice of words just for the occasion. That’s all.
Late CM Jayalalithaa of Tamil Nadu aka Komalavalli was mentored into politics by MGR who was nearly thirty five years her senior.
She was there at the right time at the right place when he died. She certainly had the support of the people of Tamil Nadu because of their loyalty to him. She had the advantage of a glamorous cinema heroin.
She then took the opportunity of that and followed the populist policy of her mentor and that paid her political dividends. But she was not a good administrator and largely relied on the help and advice of public servants.
Free tv’s, free rice cookers and kitchen gadgets and lap tops at election time to the voters of Tamil Nadu. The best was her gimmick of donating quarter carat gold sovereigns to brides together with bridal shares and sewing machines.
That was her style. Ammah as she was popularly referred to then recently AmmaFood stalls and the budget clean food made available to working people also had a popular impact with the Tamil public.
She was an imperious type of Brahmin CM who cannot be compared with those who had a common touch that the CM of Bengal Mammata Bannerji or the likes of Mayawathi of UP have with their people of their respective states. She was never seen to get down from her car when she was surrounded by her supporters and mingle with them during her election forays nor did she take part in any political panel discussions on tv or radio.

True, we should say nice things about those who have passed away, but for Sam to claim her death is a loss to SL Tamils is a bit of a stretch. Interventions by Indian politicians was never of any help. It only encouraged Tamils to go down a path that was doomed to fail. All one could concede in kindness is at least she didn’t do a two-hour hunger strike between breakfast and lunch, like Karuanidi did.

      True.
This is no time to be nasty– but grossly dishonest to utter falsehoods in praise of the dead.
But not just Sampanthan– many more are doing it, under the impact of the mass wave of sympathy in Tamilnadu.
She was a lot more straightforward than M. Karunanidhi– but that is not saying very much.

Tamils were already doomed, when the British left in 1948 handing the entire island on a platter to the racist Sinhalese with no protection to the Tamil minorities. They did not have to travel down any path to their doom, as they were experiencing doom. They were only desperately trying to escape from this doom but unfortunately it was also doomed due to Sinhalese deceit, dirty Indian and world politics.

Basically European colonisation of the island, saved the Sinhalese and doomed the Tamils. They increased the Sinhalese population in the island twice fold by importing many Tamil low casted from south India, who over the centuries became ardent Sinhalese Buddhists and Catholics. Manu of their descendants the biggest anti Tamis. They also freed the Sinhalese from the rule of Tamil kings/dynasties and aristocrats, as when the Europeans arrived there were two nominal Sinhalese kingdoms and one Tamil kingdom, whoever all three were ruled by Tamil dynasties kings and aristocracy.
They doomed the Tamils by amalgamating the ancient historic Tamil lands with the Sinhalese lands in 1833 , there by making the Eelam Tamil nation that was a 100% majority in their own land in 1833 into the minority in the entire island and doomed their future.
Contrary to what was stated the British never favoured the Tamils anywhere but only used them for their hard work but favoured the Sinhalese and others over them. In India they destroyed the Tamil language and identity in Kerala that was thriving there until their arrival, just to please the Nairs Menons Nambiars and the Namboothiri Brahmins who originally came from Tulu Nadu. They took poor Indian Tamil low castes throught the world including Sri Lanka for their own selfish profits and these people are still suffering untold suffering. In Ceylon or now Sri Lanka they amalgamated the Tamil lands with the Sinhalese lands for their own selfish convenience and made the Tamils a minority , never developed their lands or areas only the Sinhalese parts. Used the educated hardworking Tamil middle class to administer various parts of the empire. The education was not due to them but thanks to the American Missionaries and later Hindu institutions. The British largely opened schools in the Sinhalese south and not in the north or east. They then abandoned the Tamils in 1948 to the Sinhalese racists. Yet the Sinhalese lie and state that British favoured the Tamils!

I would rather remember her for her films and acting.

As a politician she is corrupt and amassed a fortune. She was sent to jail in Bangalore for her corruption, but political powers rescued her.

She used Sri Lankan Tamils as an election slogan, so did Karunanidhi.

I believe indian poor people are more intelligent than those of srilanka. Even if lanken are literate regardless of their poverty levels.
Those highly literate provices, they dont abuse their votes sending idiots to the parliament as it is the become tradtion in srilanka today.

Alone almost all the female flim-star turn politicians in srilanka are jokers. Best example is Geetha. She has just joined to lanken politics to please Joint Opposition men. She has not the basic education or knowledge to discuss anything about politics. But power greediness and abusive nature.
Former abusive president hired those flimstars to consolidate his power dreaming to create a tyranny. Forunately, peoples power led by late Rev Sobitha et al chased Rajapskshe away from active politics.
Now some people believe the most virulent of all – Gotabaya will come to politics in the future further ruin this nation. This country seems to have no future so long these extremists are scot free in the country.

The millions mourners final procession of TN’s Ex CM Jayalalitha’s Body came to Marina Beach. Near somewhere to MGR’s memorial, they let her body rest. To the journey of her soul, Breeze of the Marina beach and the waves Bengal Bay will be her companions, here after. For the returning TN’s million mourners, from here to Where? That is only a political question repeatedly being asked on the TN’s media for her political achievements? But can Jeyalathitha , the amazing women, be replaced?

After her heart attack after, two days ago, the final preparations started. UK Specialist, Dr Richard Beale, had opened his hands. AIIMS scientist took their flight back to Delhi. TN Media rushed too fast. Chennai Apollo hospitals issues different reports. Central ministers were briefed constantly about the pulse of the TN. Central governments volunteered to send thousands of troops. TN Policemen ordered to say on job until notice. Transports coming from Boarder Provinces to TN were controlled. Kerala Karnataka Tourist busses were sent back. Airports security was enhanced. Chennai become empty. TN appeared to be preparing for a war. But with whom? In fact it was not for a war, it was for peace. TN was preparing for possible- most smooth final ceremony for Jeya.

They were concerned about outbursts of the mourners. So far it was flawless. TN has grown up much matured. The province had long list historical leaders. Their capacity, many times described, exceeded to rule the central government. In fact many of them were suggested to Central. Rajaji, Kamaraj, Bhaktavatsalam and Jayalathitha were considered central, but could not only because they were from South. Anaththurai, Karunanidhi and MGR were never eyed on central. But they were or are even more popular than the previously said CMs. With all its rights and wrongs, this CM legacy of TN has put the state as one of the fastest growing province in India. Anna, MGR and Jeya have expired on the job with a great admiration. This natural death on the job on TN’s CMs has really enhanced their political maturity, where we Ceylonese look back on SWRD death on the job, by murder, sadly and disappointedly. The TN’s CMs’ legacy is telling the reason for their “where they are now” from the time of their freedom compared to where Lankawe is now from the day the country was handed over to Don Stephen in 1948 by Britain.

How Tamil Nadu accommodates others is: MGR and Jayalalitha are not Tamils. Karunanidhi is a Telugu descendant. Rajaji is from minority Brahmins.

Our legacy is: DS, SWRD, JR had changed their religion to change their ID suite to Sinhala Buddhist Image to become PMs. Our history was started by Don Stephen with deporting Tamils to India to show the Sinhala Buddhists’ intolerance. SWRD, Sirimavo, JR, Richard P., Old King and New King all followed this racism to captute power.

When TN is showing that kind of impressive improvements, why the almost same race, same culture same people’s Ceylon fell into the hell like this is a question difficult to answer. Let me put forward my theories. Tamil Nadu was guided by a non-Tamil, but had interest in Tamils. The lunatic, Kanata, anti-religious philosopher Periyar is the one prescribed the current path for TN Tamils. Personally I disagree with almost all of his inventions. But for the Pamara TN’s civilians, he was first one forcefully made them all to think. Awkward in religion and backward in caste, the TN crowd is very forward in thinking because of this atheist. In contrast we had a highly learned intellectual in Buddhist Dhamma and a Sinhala Extremist, who sawed the brainwashed racism, Anagarika Dharmapala.

There is a lot of history how the fatherless child girl, from Karnataka started to rule TN. Part of it is how she started to get involved in Tamil Eelam issues. She had an opinion against Tamil Eelam. But when the Mullivaikkal brutal videos and photos were presented by the envoys she send, (I believe one is Thiruma), she concluded that Tamil Eelam can be the only solution to save the Eelam Tamils.

Dr.Jayalalitha, who once the fatherless child and then a super heroine in cinema is ending her life as one of the favorite Tamil leaders. She came from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu because her mother came to Chennai studios to follow acting carrier in South Indian Movies. With a very attractive appearance and a charming full figure, mastered the arts of dance and acting for an incomparable level, every time when appeared on the white screen, Jayalalitha made the Tamil Cinema theaters to exploded with spectators’ applause and whistles. Some of them remain as manmade miracles.

But can Jeyalathitha , the amazing women, be replaced?

There wont be another Jayalalitha. She was very shrewd in exploiting the AMMA brand. So there wont be another AMMA for sure.

MGR is Thalivar Jaya is AMMA

but I bet Sasikala has already started scheming behind the scenes, even before the death of Amma. Will that lead to break up of AIDMK we need to wait and see

      • 3
        1

I mentioned earlier about the secret plans took place after death and before the official announcements. I said it was about dealing with the crowd. The other side of that coin was about stabilising the power.

There were two earlier occasions like this. Anna has been bringing up Navalar to fill up his shoes. But on Anna death Karunadhi snached the power. That was, unfortunately, the party decision. After MGR’s death, Janaki, his legal wife took it. That was the party decision. But Rajiv, who disliked MGR, dismissed her government. She quit the politics and Jaya took over. MGR might have favored Jeya for Janaki. But it was not open. When he died, power did not go Jaya. Jeya was a more popular actress than Janaki. Jeya used it. Janaki’s main disadvantage was Rajiv’s dismissal of her government.

Now, it is said Modi like AIADMK to continue without struggle. So Central took part in smooth power changing too. It is said Central Minister Venkaiah Naidu consulted to Shashikala not to infuse uncertainty in the TN Assembly.

The current CM is a confirmed person by all ADMK MLAs. He is no longer Interim CM or acting CM. Party meeting took place right in minutes of the announcement of Jaya’s demise. Instead of a Interim CM until an election, they unanimously elected Panneerselvam. All 30 ministers were sacked out of their jobs and he reappointed them, to ensure their constitutionality. Now they are his ministers, not Jeya Amma’s.

Jeya allowed Panneerselvam grow up in the party and handed over him the CM position whenever it needed. About two years ago Jaya got angry with Sasikala gang and dismissed all of them from party. Her blessing for the job is not for any one of them. But Panneerselvam is Sasikala’s person. This created a mild friction between him and Jeya. But during the last election, she patched up with him. Further she had allowed Shashikala to return Poes Garden too. On a power struggle, Panneerselvam has central support. He has Jaya’s supporters. He may be able to pull a quantity from Shashikala team too. So for Next 4 1/2 years he is safe. If he failed to build muscle with in the party in that time, he is not fit for CM and he can go. Even on that occasion Sashikala can not come. That is done deal within the party.

MGR is Malayalee from the Nair community but Jayalalitha and Karunanidhi are Tamils.
Jayalalitha is from the Vaishnaivite Tamil Iyengar Brahmin caste and her family hailed from Sri Rangam in Tamil Nadu. There is enough and more evidence of this fact. Just because she was born on the Mandyam region of what is former Madras presidency and now modern Karnataka and she speaks fluent Kannada,as she lived in Karnataka as a child does not make her a Kanndiga. Lots of Tamils are born in Colombo and speak Sinhalese fluently this does not make them Sinhalese. The Kannadigas were desperate to make her a Kannada and she had openly refuted this. Go and read the Indian newspapers, they all now acknowledge that she is a Tamil. Iyengars are a Tamil caste. Although now many speak Kannada and Telugu as their mother tongue instead of Tamil.
Karunanidhi belongs to the Isai Vellalar or Oothuvar caste they are musicians in Hindu temples. They all speak Tamil as their mother tongue. There is a myth that centuries ago that the Ootuvar or the Isai Vellalar migrated from Andhra to Tamil Nadu, however there is no definite proof of this.
Many anti Tamils are using these myths and the fact that Komanavalli now called Jayalalitha was born in Bangalore, together with the fact that there is a small amount of Iyengar Brahmins who now speak Kannda and call them selves Kannada Iyengar, to state Jayalalitha is a Kannadiga and Karunanidhi is a Telugu and the Tamils are always ruled by outsiders. The facts are both are Tamil.
To all Iyengar Brahmins whether they speak Tamil (90%) or Kannada or Telugu as their mother tongue. Tamil is a sacred language. Tamil Iyengar Brahmin women are noted for their beauty.
      Other famous Tamil Iyengars are
Actors: Vyjanthimala, Hemamalini. Kamalahassan ,Shruthi Hassan,Saru Hassan, Suhasini, Sundararajan. Indian cricketer Venkataraghavan, Krishnamachchari, Chakraarthi Rajagopalachari, the famous Indian politician and the person who saved Madras now Chennai for the Tamils when the Telugu were aggressively demanding it for them. The famous Mathematician on whose live history there was a recent Hollywood film with Jeremy Irons Srinivasan Ramanujan. the late Cho Ramaswamy of Thuklaq and Hindu Ram of Hindu paper. There are many other famous politicians and scientists who belong to this community.

If you had said Kerala I would partially agree.

Even today, 45.7% of the state’s population resorts to open defecation
As a result, over 73% of rural population defecate in the open.

n one recent survey of 22 villages in Tamil Nadu, 16 practised the `two glass system’; 14 villages had the `chappal’ system where Dalits have to remove their footwear when they enter the caste part of the village; and in 17 villages Dalits were forbidden to enter the village temples

Pray where are all these statistics from? The BBS handbook? At least all these villages do not commit genocide kill loot rape murder and ethnically cleanse like Sinhalese do. If Tamil Nadu is so bad why are North Indians and Malyali from the so called Kerala paradise migrating there in hordes?

From which one of these villages in Tamil Nadu did your Dalit ancestors migrate to the island? Now you, their eight generation descendant is very busy posting lies and anti Tamils.

First for your info, I am considered to be a Tamil.

I have had my genetics checked, and its a good 60%
ASI (Ancestral South Indian). Thats about as much as
any Tribal in South India. (and its online)

Have you had your genes checked.
              Obviously not, because you would
              realize you are Dalit too

Pai-Iyengar Sarma: Do you live in SL. So now you have an
              Inferiority Superiority complex.

So no one in Sinhala areas gives a damn about
              your Pai-Iyengar antecedents.

In Jaffna, Pai-Iyengar Brahamins are pony tailed
louts muttering shamanist mumbo jumbo to the gullible,
and employees of the Shudra owners of the Kovills

So what it is the role of Pai-Iyengar Brahmin
              in a Kovil: Maintaining

Devadassis: Women ordinated to the Kovil. They offer
certain services and and the Kovil collects.
There is modern word that kind of service, Pimp

Adoration of the Linga: Enlightment by adoration
              of the Linga and Yoni

Stupid person I am not an Iyengar but as I am not a Vaishnavite nor an Iyer but a Gurrukal( or Tamil Gurrukal) sect of the Tamil Brahmins. We are Saivites and adhere to the philosophy of Shaiva Siddhanta and traditionally are well versed in Vedas,Agama Sasthras and follow the Agamic rituals in the temples. Because of these cultural differences, intermarriages with other Tamil Brahmanas are rare even to this date. My name Sarma should have told you which sect I belong to. Iyers are Smartha. Iyengars are Vaishnavite and Gurrukal amongst Tamil Brahmins are Saivites who adhere to the Saiva Siddhanta philosophy.
I don’t need to have my genes checked as I know who I am, never dispute it and happy to he Tamil and do not care that the DNA tells me, as unlike you I do not go around running down and making derogatory comments ,like many Sinhalese and some Sri Lankan Muslims running down all Tamils, calling them by all sorts of names and not belonging to the island, when they themselves are of recent largely low caste South Indian origin, just like you. I love to remind them of that. Other than that I don’t care about you. I am glad that you checked your DNA and found out that you are pf Tamil descent. Hope more Sinhalese do this and find out their actual origin instead of believing their Mahavamsa myth. Hope since you have now realised your largely low caste Adi Dravida Tamil origin your anti Tamil comments will cease.

So you are not low caste South Indian
or is that low caste Tamil.

Also not a Pai-Iyengar Brahmin, but a Hukkal Brahmin.

Hopefully you dont get enlightenment worshiping a linga.
Maybe Hukkal Brahmins did not Pimp Devadassis in their Kovils.

Chi Chi, Hukkal Brahmin Sarma you need be a little more

Oh the poor anti Tamil creature is ranting and raving. It is you who is not logical nor educated. Your comment is only full of hate and rant that do not make sense nothing else. Low caste South Indian is also low caste Tamil as well as others. May be you were high on ganga when you read the comment.
Were you pimping your women to the British and other Europeans like many Sinhalese did to gain favours from them. Or were pimping the topless Rodiya women to the Europeans? People always tend to judge others from their actions. No one here is talking about pimping except you. Why do you work as a pimp and think everyone else does this?
You are one nasty evil racist disgusting bit of works. What is your problem with Brahmins? Why did some Brahmin take one look at you and ask you come through their back door? Did you ask then to pimp a Devadassi to you and they refused and chase you out? Or are you descended from a pimped Devadassi from Tamil Nadu? Is that why you are ranting and raving here about Devadassis and pimping? What has all this got to do with the death of Jayalalitha, Siva Sankaran or anything or anyone?
You just want to run down Tamils and go on some rant. Then admit that you checked your DNA and found out you are descended from Tamils. Most probably finding this out made you rant and rave more as you hoped to find out that you were part lion part human like the Mahavamsa comic book stated and instead found out that your descended from the hated Tamils.
Hate Tamils then at the same breath admit, you checked your DNA and found out that you of Tamil de4scent. No logic. You did not have to check your DNA, it is fairly obvious to everyone that the Sinhalese are largely of South Indian descent. Calm down baby and take a chill pill.

sbarrkum, you want to talk about Dalits in TN but you Sinhala scumbags disfranchised millions of up-country Tamil Dalits and deported them to India although Lanka was all they had ever known. The remnants are still treated as garbage despite them toiling for slave wage and contributing to a good portion of the Lankan economy. They live in miserable conditions, the most underdeveloped people in all of Lanka. As they say, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. First clean your own house.

“The ‘line’ system that exists in estate housing is the same one established in the late 19th century – a row of small houses, each more similar in size to a single room, that share a roof. These were initially meant to be temporary shelters for the workers yet estate management over the years never sought to develop the living conditions of the workers.
Each family is allocated one of these ‘houses’, meaning everyone lives in uncomfortably close quarters, severely distorting family dynamics. Should a child marry, reproduce and come to live in his/her parents’ house, as it does frequently happen, the situation worsens. …

There’s one bus; if they miss the one bus to school then the children have to walk between the tea bushes, on trails that are so steep and jagged that it’s life threatening. So, most often, they stop going to school. Children start working on the estates early or get married at a young age and have families of their own. Because these conditions are so bad, most government teachers appointed to estate schools don’t even come to teach for so long – they prefer places where they are familiar with the culture and where conditions are not so harsh. These schools are just forgotten. …

Health issues are constantly mounting in the cramped living conditions. A single line with five or so houses share a wall and with more than five people living in a single room, contagious diseases spread rapidly. In addition, most estates don’t have a proper toilet system for the inhabitants of the line houses to use.
Water distribution in some plantations is such that the same water used by lines higher up the mountain makes its way down a channel to the lower divisions and the individuals there are left having to use water that is far from pure. Even in places where this particular system is not used, irregular water distribution methods and lack of basic hygiene facilities contribute to prevailing health dilemmas.”

              >sbarrkum, you want to talk about Dalits in TN
              >but you Sinhala scumbags

I am Tamil scumbag, a relative by marriage to
SJV Chelvanayagam who signed the agreement to
              disfranchise the Indian Estate Workers.

Now as an older almost three score old man
I think it was very unfair for workers who
toiled two generations in the Tea Estates.

This was a classic case of destruction of
              environment, importation of labor for
              colonialist gains.

“SJV Chelvanayagam who signed the agreement to
                disfranchise the Indian Estate Workers.”

I believe you’re confusing him for another Tamil leader.

Shocked by the openly racist character of the citizenship bills, one of the leading Tamil politicians at the time, S.J.V.Chelvanayagam, said in the State Council, in 1948: “You are now hitting at the weakest section of the Tamils. You are hitting at the innocent and the meek that are labouring in the chill and the cold of the hill-country plantation regions producing your wealth. We will know where we stand when our turn comes next, we will know when the next piece of legislation in this series comes, the one dealing with our language.’

You are easily comparing lowest points of Tamil nadu with the highest points of Lankawe. What you said is not recorded in the vanni 90 thousand widows. There are so many pictures circulated of the these people’s suffering to raise money for these internal refugees. 1.5 lakhs of Tamil refugees suffering in Tamil Nadu camps are not ready to return by the stories sent back the returnees. They prefer Tamil nadu Hell to Lankawe’s heaven. Of cause you all are well doing in Colombo, the heaven or the Megapolis.

In India Tamils receive a treatment similar to tamils in Lankawe. They are ignored by the Central government in the North. In Lankawe Tamils are the least well doing race. But they were the best one around 1948. Comparing of that with South Indian Tamils, Tamil Nadu’s developments are beyond heaven’s.

Tamil Nadu attacks labourers from all over India. This casing a big drag on the village farming. They don’t have girls and boys to man village farming and farmers simply abandoning their lands as waste lands. TN is very quickly becoming the India’s industrial powerhouse. In fact Tamil Nadu showed too quick growth that may show excess capacity in that area and soon hinder future growth not carefully managed. That is new concern for their economists. About two years ago, BBC Tamil news wrote Tamil Nadu is going be the Detroit of South East Asia. Remember that is only about auto. Software, Spinning.. other are not counted. They say Coyamuthur spinning going to be no longer competitive as their women are paid 3 times of the National average. Yet it is the largest in the country.

Recently I came across a news of Indian Tea planters in TN is paid more than 300 rupees. This is much higher than Darjeeling rate. This is about 600 sri lankan rupees in direct exchange. I would say his with prices of Indian merchandise, the purchasing parity is well above a 1,000 rupees of Lankawe. It recently, Up Country Tamils managed to negotiate for 750 rupees. It is not yet paid. Beyond that their inflation and cost of living is off the roof. This is the real difference between the Tamil Nadu Hell and the Lankawe Even, when there is something directly comparable.

Kerala Income per Capita (per head) is much less than Tamil Nadu. Their income is from Middle East employments too, similar to Lankawe. Tamil Nadu, all of it generated from internal. That is a very good, strong statistics. Kerala, Andra, Tamil Nadu vere very poor stated until recently. Tamil Nadu left the other two behind and went ahead in development. One reason for Andhra split is poverty in that state. Kerala’s education level is slightly higher than Tamil Nadu. That is the only plus point their communist state Governments earned. Tamil Nadu Universities attract foreign students. Well known outside of the state.

While the Sinhala nation forces the Dalit population in its society to live in slave-like miserable living conditions without adequate health care and access to education, Tamil Nadu “initiated bold social programmes such as universal midday meals in primary schools and started putting in place an extensive social infrastructure – schools, health centres, roads, public transport, water supply, electricity connections, and much more. This was not just a reflection of kind-heartedness on the part of the ruling elite, but an outcome of democratic politics, including organized public pressure. Disadvantaged groups, particularly Dalits, had to fight for their share at every step. Today, Tamil Nadu has some of the best public services among all Indian states, and many of them are accessible to all on a nondiscriminatory basis. … The basic principle is that facilities such as school education, primary health care, midday meals, electricity connections, ration cards and drinking water should as far as possible be made effectively available to all on a non-discriminatory basis, instead of being ‘targeted’ to specific sections of the population. In fact, in many cases the provision of essential services and amenities has not only been universal but also free. … In each case, the historical burden of social inequality has been significantly reduced in one way or another. In Kerala and Tamil Nadu, principles of equal citizenship and universal entitlements were forged through sustained social reform movements as well as fierce struggles for equality on the part of underprivileged groups – especially Dalits…” http://thewire.in/84785/amartya-sen-jean-dreze-tamil-nadus-social-progress-development/

Jayalalitha coming and holding on to absolute power for long periods is a further illustration of the grotesque one-man-one-vote system that negates the very essence of democracy – mostly in 3rd world countries.
These leaders coming to power is no indication of the proper working of the democratic process but of subversion the system by invoking the more populist slogans. Tamilnadu is a State that produces highly literate and educated men and women. They do not elect as their leaders the type of leaders like Jayalalitha, MGR, Karunanidhi and the like. It is the vast number of the illiterate riff-raff who vote these kind of candidates into power. What was Jayalalitha’s claim to leadership in the first place? It was that she was the concubine of MGR. Surely the decent people of Tamilnadu will not have anything to do with a candidate with such a dubious background.

I realise what I said is not politically correct. But the billions of rupees of illegal money accumulated by Jayalalitha is an example of the manner in which she had hoodwinked the people and the country. It is even rumoured she suffered her cardiac arrest upon learning of the
demonetisation exercise of the Central Govt – shocked at the fate of her ill-gotten multi-billions. There will now be a battle for this loot from her near favourites like Shashikala, with whom she shared a very
    peculiar personal relationship.

How many Tamil irrational hysterical people will commit suicide. In S.India, from Tamil Nadu to Andra Pradesh people are really backward and worship their stars and politicians like gods. NT RAMA RAO who was an actor became CM of Andra and he was worshipped as a god.

Who will get Amma’s looted Gold and wealth?

Amma thanks but bye bye. You were a tamil chauvinist banshee who just used Tamil problems in SL to win elections. Oh btw, when Velu died how many committed suicide? ON a scale we can see if Tamil Indians are still backward as shit. Tha is why over 25,000 are now in Ceylon Illegally from Amparai to Thosai restaurants near Wellawatte Spinning mills area(now Havelock Towers)..

Jayam Jayam Amma. May we have some of your enormous wealth? May you join MGR and be together in your next life.

    Well,

Jayalalitha did try and influence the New Delhi government as well as GOSL at different times for the betterment of Tamil people in Sri Lanka. It is well documented. Even at this time of writing Tamil Nadu is hosting close to 150000 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees. The cost to the Tamil Nadu government is colossal.

However I personally believe that she could have done more. At the end the Tamil people in Sri Lanka were decimated, tens of thousands of innocents dead, Tamil lands forcibly taken, thousands of Tamils still listed as missing, absolutely no war crimes investigations, absolutely no transitional justice, and the Sinhala mass murderers and the fraudsters still roaming free fomenting the same hatred against minorities as they did before. Jayalalitha was too busy attending to her own myriad political difficulties to have enough time to shed tears for the Sri Lankan Tamils. I am sure she has reached some form of peace in death from the chaos that always engulfed her life. May she rest in peace.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashvamedha

The horse, hornless goat, and gayal are asphyxiated. The chief queen lies down and the adhvaryu guides the horse’s penis against the queen’s vagina, signifying the birth of a new king.[4][5] The animals are dismembered. The king ascends the throne while the Purusha Sukta is recited.[5]

The adhvaryu takes the dismembered parts of the three chief animals and assembles them on the ground with the head of the goat facing west, the other two animals facing east

I am a frequent visitor to your website. I am not questioning your intentions. I am worried about your methodology.

Paul aka real siva sankaran sarma regularly provides this forum with valuable contributions. I do not worry whether he is a brahmin or not but like his incisive analysis on history of srilankans.

I am worried about religious and cultural values of hinduism are being tarnished by vested interests.

Jayalalitha’s legacy is a powerful reminder of how a tamil ayengaar female struggled to uplift the dalits.
              Message is engagement not criticism.

                0

Sbarrkum does not like Siva Sankaran’s messages or postings, so has decided to whip out anti Brahmin sentiment amongst the Tamil bloggers here and isolate Siva. He does not realise that this will not work, as unlike in South India, Sri Lankan Tamils are largely not anti Brahmin, as there is no history of Brahmin domination or exploitation of other Tamils. The dominant community amongst the Sri Lankan Tamils, has always been the Vellar. Numerically economically and politically. The Brahmins were only ritually higher. Also unlike in Tamil Nadu or even in the rest of India the Jaffna Brahmins are highly assimilated with the rest of the Tamil population and their interests and aims are the same as the rest of the Sri Lankan Tamils.
Poor Sbarrkum he will fail and will have to find solace with a Devadassi, if they still exist.

                  Ken,

I am not trying to whip up Anti Hindu/High caste whatever.

So, talking about Mahavamsa Mentality or bestiality is OK
Calling Lankans low caste Dalits is OK too.
                  Calling Buddhist priests child molesters.
yes there is that in priests in all religions,
                  hopefully a minority

Luckily we are all Tamil low castes
(according to the Brahamin Devadassi Pimp)
in Lanka and have a fairly egalitarian society.
(For the TN casteists egalitarian == equal).

My fellow low caste PandiKutti, I have
                  no gripes with you.
                  (I love roasted/barbecued) baby pundiKutti/baby pig,
proving my low caste Dalit origins).

                  >rest of India the Jaffna Brahmins are
                  >highly assimilated

Brahmins are non entities in Lanka.
If you notice the commenter’s are Tamil
                  Nadu casteists, calling Sinhalese
                  Low Caste Dalits.

unhappily we are proud black Dalits, so

Tamil Nadu has been a suppressed state from Independence by north Indians (mughal mixture)- it has 40 seats same as Maharashtra the richest (because 75% of all exports go through Bombay)
Therefore the ingenuity of the state to be the second richest.

The so called “Amma” was convicted of amassing properties worth more than 66.65 crores (10 million USD) and Tamil Nadu police had in a raid on Jayalalithaa seized 1165 kg of silver, 23 kg of gold, 750 pairs of shoes, 10,500 sarees, 91 watches and other items numbering up to 469 in a material objects list.

You are talking about a 25 years old case. The man who brought that case is Subramaniya Swamy. I can compare Wimals’ North East split case for that. but in reality, Wimal and Udaya Gammanpila are angels compared to SW’s politics. Talk to some Tamils about SW to know about him. He was thrown with eggs in Los Angeles Airport for his hatred propagandas. Boston, Harvard fired with immediate effect when they came to know about one of his speech. 25 years ago she amassed wealth. None of your items list are stage for a actress of high standing. The raid was done in Karunanidhi’s time. Income for the purchase was not traced and released. Recently, the most elegantly actress on Tamil Nadu one time, lived without wearing jewelry. She was emotionally attached to her Manson. It may be because it was manned with her mother.

It is a silly story & ill conceived story for woman who had stopped wearing jewelry that the Modi demonetisation brought heart attack. Remember Sasikala who is getting all those notes or bills is well ok.

Wonder whether Indian Mano join them.. Or will he hold his own?

Either way they have some pretty good options.

It could be held in Federal Killinochchi. Or Federal Megapolis . Or even Siripala,s Badulla .which will be Federal too according to the wishes of the soon to be Federal CM Vellala. Wigneswaran..

Pity JJ couldn,t live a bit longer to be the first foreign dinitory to visit Federal Elaam which she couldn,t get even in her own Hindians Land.
