Leader of the Frontline Socialists Party Kumar Gunaratnam was sentenced to one year imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000 today for violating immigration laws.
Gunaratnam who is an Australian citizen, was arrested in November by the Kegalle Police for staying in Sri Lanka in violation of immigration and emigration laws without a visa.
He had reportedly arrived in Sri Lanka on a 30 day tourist visa, but had overstayed.

While punishing Brother Prince to Human & Refugees smuggling, Tony Abbott should be punished for sending refugees to Lankawe. Australia refused involve in any humanitarian matters when Tamils were in prison. When a Tamil Prisoner applied to Supreme Court fundamental about his rights violation for torture in prison Mokan Peiris ruled there is no such rights like that for Tamils. Yahapalanaya Government is refusing to review those cases of Mokan Peiris but fired him from Job. Australia refused to work with other western countries when Shiranee was dismissed by Lankan parliament and Mokan Peiris was crowned.
Australia claimed it was a white Van abduction when last time Gunaratnam was arrested for immigration law violation. Tony Abbott paid a hidden big ransom to Royal family, including well publicised two warships to have Gunaratnam released from the prison of Brother Prince. Then he claimed that blackmailing incident was as “He worked with Lankawe” to stop refugees. But now he has send back refugee Gunaratnam again to Lankawe. This time it is unlikely he pay ransom to Yahapalanaya Government. Because Old King’s friends are not New King’s friends. Further Yahapalanaya is not interest in Australia’s puny payments, but PM Ranil Mahata is going to China so the project he proclaimed as previous government’s white elephants can be continued. But my question for Australian PN Tony Abbott is how come Tony is refusing to work with Yahapalanaya Government on the matters of Anthony Peter, Gunaratnam cases?
The saddest end of the deportation(extradition) of Karuna from Lankawe to UK by Brother Prince was he was rejected by UK. UK’s Tony Blair was working with Royal Family those days. He immediately foresighted the danger that could brew, so safely returned Karuna back to Lankawe. He did know, under UK’s existed laws, interrogate Karuna, who then might have spitted out all the war crime activities of Lankawe and UK’s part in that too. So he was too soon returned Karuna back to Lanka. But this was not how he handled Chilean dictator, Pinochet. If karuna is in UK, by now, all might have come to know what happened to child Balachandran, leader Pirapaharan and many other hidden, secret news.

you may be not aware- what is behind the issue. I truly believe there should be more than what is released to press to go for a verdict of that level. TOday, WE ARENOT IN THE ERA OF Mr MADAMULANA each and everyone attack the other, be them president, PM or minister there are no special treatements. If this is only focused on his invalidity of visa, being unable to get it extended, then many would not travel to lanka again.. I myself get my visa applied when leaving Europe for Lanka each time.
