Army Intelligence Officer Premananda Udalagama who was arrested in connection with the assassination of Founding Editor of the Sunday Leader Lasantha Wickrematunge, was further remanded till September 29.
He is currently in remand in connection to Wickrematunge’s assassination and also for attacking Upali Tennakoon, who was the former Editor of the Rivira Newspaper. Udalagama was identified as the person who abducted Dias, Wickrematunge’s driver after his death. It is reported that Udalagama had kidnapped Dias because the late Editor’s driver in his intoxicated state had gone around making allegations to the effect that former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa was behind the assassination.
Meanwhile, Wickrematunge’s remains will be exhumed on September 27 to ascertain the exact cause that led to his death.

CBK says that Mahinda Rajapakse gave orders because Lasantha was revealing their secrets and private issues.
Why innocent Army officers are arrested. They are not civilians. They are military and they are bound to carry out orders. That is their duty.
