Lasantha’s Daughter Writes Moving Letter To Sirisena Against Attempt To Transfer CID OIC Nishantha Silva

In a moving letter to President Maithripala Sirisena, Ahimsa Wickrematunge, the daughter of Lasantha Wickrematunge, condemned the move to transfer CID OIC Nishantha Silva who was handling investigations into the murder of Wickeematunga.

The full text of the letter, in which Ahimsa Wickrematunge voucher for the efficiency and impartiality of the Police officer, is as follows:

President Maithripala Sirisena,

Presidential Secretariat,
Galle Face,
Colombo 01
Dear President Sirisena,
20th November 2018

Your Decision to Remove Inspector Adrian Nishantha Silva from the Criminal Investigation Department

Sunday 18th November 2018 was the 73rd birthday of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. To mark this occasion, President Rajapaksa participated in a ‘Pinkama’ at a temple near his official residence, attended by your Inspector General of Police, Mr. Pujith Jayasundara. After celebrating the former President’s birthday in the company of former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mr. Jayasundera proceeded to police headquarters, where he signed transfer order D/HRM/ADM/1869/2018 dated 18th November 2018.

As you are fully aware, this was an order to remove Police Inspector Adrian Nishantha Silva, Officer-in-Charge of the Gang Robbery Branch (GRB) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) due to unspecified “service requirements”. While the order is ostensibly from the IGP, he has made no secret of the fact that he issued this order hesitantly, at your insistence. This was a thoughtful birthday gift on your part, but it was Mahinda’s birthday, not Gotabaya’s.

I know Inspector Silva as the lead investigator into the murder of my father, Lasantha Wickrematunge, who was bludgeoned to death on 8th January 2009, exactly six years before you were historically elected President on a platform pledging to solve heinous murders like my father’s.

In January 2009, two innocent youth were abducted in Vavuniya and executed in cold blood and their corpses burnt to ashes in Anuradhapura, all just so that their motorcycle could be planted as evidence at the crime scene. Senior police officers helped to destroy all traces of the notebook containing my father’s last words, which may have identified his attackers. We know this because of Nishantha Silva. Over the last two years, he travelled tirelessly around Vavuniya and Anuradhapura, interrogated dozens of witnesses, ordered DNA tests on decade-old samples and finally arrested the police officers responsible, including a Senior Deputy Inspector General.

On 18th January 2010 the CID made a breakthrough into my father’s murder when a mechanic in Nuwara Eliya identified a soldier in the Tripoli Military Intelligence platoon as having used his National ID card to purchase SIM cards used to coordinate the attack on my father. The ink was barely dry on that witness statement before the all-powerful Gotabaya Rajapaksa personally ordered that the commanding officer of the Tripoli platoon be whisked away to a diplomatic posting. The investigation was then yanked away from the CID overnight and given to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID), who arrested the poor mechanic on trumped up charges and covered up all involvement of the Tripoli platoon. We know all this purely thanks to Nishantha Silva’s investigations. We would know more if the poor mechanic did not mysteriously perish in remand custody in October 2011.

I came to know Nishantha Silva when he visited Melbourne to record a statement from me regarding my father’s murder. I told him then that my father had said repeatedly that he was likely to be killed by Gotabaya Rajapaksa for having exposed the MiG Deal. Nishantha Silva fearlessly reported this to the Mount Lavinia courts. Only a court of law can decide whether my father was right about who gave the order to kill him, but he was sure right about the MiG Deal. The FCID investigation has shown that half the money paid by the Sri Lanka Air Force was siphoned off to a shell company operated by middle men, and that Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s cousin Udayanga Weeratunga was in the thick of the deal, all exactly as my father had exposed.

Ever since I got to meet Nishantha Silva, I was struck by his gentleness, humility and dedication to his job. I started following his work and was stunned by the number of high- profile cases that Nishantha Silva is handling. He is also the lead investigator into the brutal May 2008 abduction and torture of journalist Keith Noyahr. Nishantha Silva’s team reconstructed and scoured millions of telephone records, recorded over one hundred witness statements, located the military intelligence safe house in which Keith Noyahr was tortured, recovered documents proving the safe house was leased by military intelligence, and arrested eight military intelligence officers including the former army chief of staff. Seven of these suspects were from the infamous “Tripoli” white-van platoon implicated in the murder of my father.

Heck, he even found the infamous “white van” and brought it before court. This engine of death was a symbol of your election campaign, emblematic of the vicious brutality of your opponents. One would have expected you promote the man who found it and not try and sabotage his career. In fact, Inspector Silva may have been able to figure out the nexus between the Tripoli platoon and the chain of command if you had not personally ordered the military not to cooperate with the investigation on so-called “national security” grounds when the CID and the court requested essential documents and records of the army and defence ministry.

It was also Inspector Nishantha Silva’s team who identified and arrested members of yet another military intelligence killer squad for abducting and murdering cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda on the eve of the January 2010 presidential election. Again, Nishantha’s team scoured hundreds of thousands of telephone call records, searched several military installations, and recorded tomes worth of witness statements. According to court documents, at least two cooperating suspects-turned-witnesses have told the CID that the abduction and murder of Eknaligoda was carried out on the instructions of then Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

During the investigation into the floating armoury operated by Avant Garde Maritime Services, it was Nishantha Silva’s team who in early 2015 first moved to impose a ban on foreign travel by Gotabaya Rajapaksa. His team did a tremendous amount of work on this investigation, breathing bank statements and inventorying weapons and explosives that had been stashed at sea in Sri Lankan waters on Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s authority. This investigation came to naught when your attorney general ruled in June 2015 that “no offences under the Firearms Ordinance, Explosives Ordinance or the Prevention of Terrorism Act are disclosed” by the operation of a floating armoury jam-packed with illegally licensed and unlicensed automatic weapons and explosives.

Nishantha Silva has also beenthe lead investigator into the brutal abduction and murder of eleven young men in 2008 and 2009 after their desperate families had been extorted for ransom, allegedly by several senior naval officers whom Inspector Silva has meticulously identified and arrested. It was Inspector Silva who had the unprecedented courage to share with an open court evidence that your former navy commander, now Chief of Defence Staff, was instrumental in harbouring and smuggling out of the country a fugitive navy officer involved in these grisly murders.

Ironically, it is this same Chief of Defence Staff, a suspect wanted for arrest by Inspector Silva, who seems to have provided you with unfounded and uncorroborated “intelligence” that Nishantha Silva was an “LTTE mole” – intelligence that you forced down the throat of your IGP to try and tarnish the name of one of the bravest, most dedicated and accomplished detectives in the Sri Lanka Police.

I sympathise especially with Nishantha Silva on this point. Throughout my childhood, I noticed that whenever my father exposed someone, and that truth was so pungent and irrefutable that it shattered their reputations, these people would react by accusing my father – with zero evidence – of being an “LTTE mole”. My father’s reporting on the MiG Deal, for example, led to a consorted campaign by the Ministry of Defence to brand him and his newspaper as organs of the LTTE. But the truth came out. The truth always comes out.

The truth about Nishantha Silva is that he has been one of the single biggest thorns in the side of the LTTE in the history of the CID. As a junior officer he was part of the team that investigated and dismantled the LTTE intelligence networks that supplied and facilitated the attack on the Katunayake airport in 2000. He was a lead investigator into the 2006 assassination attempts on both Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Sarath Fonseka. He splintered the LTTE networks involved in these and the 2008 assassination of General Janaka Perera, and he participated in countless additional counter-terrorism operations.

By desperately trying to brand a faithful public servant and national hero like Nishantha Silva as a terrorist just to please your strutting tin soldiers and to earn brownie points with your new-found political allies, you are degrading the office of the presidency to a degree that none of your predecessors ever have. My father at various times had fierce disagreements with both Presidents Chandrika Kumaratunga and Mahinda Rajapaksa. They called each other many things they would want to take back. But neither Presidents Kumaratunga nor Rajapaksa ever stooped so low as to try and brand my father as part of the LTTE. That is the refrain of lesser mortals, such as Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and apparently, yourself.

I urge you to remember that you have sworn an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of Sri Lanka, not to uphold and defend your Chief of Defence Staff and those who rule by white van death. I do not know if these people are guilty of any crime. Neither do you. That is for a court to decide after a thorough criminal investigation of the kind that Nishantha Silva was so ably and tirelessly performing before you cut him off at the knees. Our role in the criminal justice system is to support investigators however they may require.

For me, as a witness, that means answering their questions truthfully and comprehensively. For you, as a head of state, that means putting the law before your personal relationships, political needs and whims. It means making available to investigators the resources, political will and support from the state they require to get to the truth and present it before a competent court. Above all, your role is to make it clear to police officers across the country that working with dedication towards the pursuit of justice like Nishantha Silva has done will bring reverence and not retaliation.

I have faith in the Criminal Investigation Department and the independent institutions of Sri Lanka such as the National Police Commission and Constitutional Council. They will not allow you to get away with such a blatant abuse of power.

Mr. President, you have only two choices before you. You could be remembered as the President who quickly rectified an ill-advised lapse in judgment by immediately reversing the removal of Nishantha Silva from the CID and letting him do his job.

Alternatively, you could wait until the independent National Police Commission or a court of law reviews your order and shoots it down. In that case you will be remembered as the President who tried to stop some of the most high-profile criminal investigations in the country – and failed. Make no mistake, Mr. President. If you try to stand in the way of justice for my father and other victims of brutality, you will fail.

Yours Sincerely,

Ahimsa Wickrematunge

The reason why MaRa and his immediate family want to capture Power hook or by crook is to get over the Murders etc committed by them whilst in Power!
Nishantha Silva is a victim; Many more will follow. But hats off to Nishantha! Plato salutes Nishantha!

Sirisena digged his own 5 foot soil as well as Mahinda’s 5 foot soil. I understand he now cancelled the transfer after proving that he is the one who is protecting criminals and murders. I also understand that he is now suffering from severe mental illness. Once you started to lie, it is like an addiction to drug.It won’t stop until it kills you. You can talk about Mandela, Martil Luther King, Gandhi, Lord Buddha but all of your actions are against to the principles of these selfless leaders. The country needs complete change or give this land to China or India.

      Mahinda didn’t “capture power.”
If you have forgotten, he was appointed by the President.
Having said that, I still believe the President is not genuine. His aim is something else. Knowing his games, I guess he will convert his U turn to a “Roundabout”!!!!!! :D :D :D :D
I warned MR and JO many times about this guy, the President. He first gave the carrot to MR. Though my loving former President has forgotten, the carrot is always followed by a stick!!!!!
Carrot was used to put up a hold to Mahinda’s growing popularity and the expansion of nationalism and patriotism across the country. Today, Sri Lanka’s biggest vociferous nationalist is at the beck and call of a bottom feeder. :(
Moreover, it (the carrot) has been used to abate harsh criticism on FB by MR/JO supporters against the President.
UNP is only one step away from regaining what they lost and the President is meant play a big role in it. I am not talking about the NCM.
Before MR’s appointment as the PM, UNP was treated as discarded material. Look at them now. Within 3 weeks, they built a Castle. Not only that, they now even have a warhorse as Presidential hopeful. There is more which they haven’t capitalized yet. The moment they do it, President’s U turn will become a Roundabout! I don’t think UNP is that brainy.

Another U turn by yourself I suppose.

“Mahinda didn’t “capture power.” “If you have forgotten, he was appointed by the President.”

Any decent and honest man could have refused to accept the post and recommended a younger politician for the office. This greedy old pig could not resist his temptation, ………….. The old pig should have brought his hooligans under his control in the house. He seems admiring those thugs.

Even a stupid person could understand.
If there is elections held next week your loving former president has no chance of getting the necessary votes to form a government.

What do you mean by U turn?
I have been telling from the time of Mahinda’s appointment under the moonlight that this PM post was forced on him Maithri and Basil.
His team JO is comprised of various political parties and I believe that they have told him to accept.
And I stand by what I said. This “appointment” is a bad precedent. Therefore, I want it to be DULY rejected by the Parliament.
Do you want Mahinda to refuse the offer? Seriously, why don’t you tell the same to Ranil, Sirisena or Samapanthan? Tell them to go home too.
This is the problem with people like you who post comments only to pass time.
If my opinion is in favour of your side, you are ok with me. If it is not in supportive of them, then you criticize or mostly condemn me.
I am telling for the millionth time, I am my own master and not under obligation to anybody. My comments carry my own opinions.

Ever since Our Great Liberator was rejected by WE the People, he harboured an undying determination to return to his lost throne. He nursed his bruised ego through every course of action his ‘advisers’ advised him to take. Finally, after two years of waiting, the time become ripe (after last August) to put into action a plan hatched by the devious GLP. This was because, finally, MS and RW had arrived at an irreconcilable impasse. In stepped GLP to help MS oust RW. MS was too dumb to see that he was being led up the garden path; MR had his hot hand round MS’ hairy balls. Next thing, the shit hit the fan.

MS doesn’t know what him. His gamarala brain is fighting to make sense of the chaos around him. He is a sitting duck.

The second-oldest democracy in Asia has been well screwed these last few weeks and WE the People can do nothing but shake our heads at the disgraceful outcome.

There is still some way to go before WE the People reclaim OUR rightful Sovereignty.

Idiot Chimpa, MR is a murderer, thief and a criminal. He also accepted what was given to him through a violation of the constitution. This is why you have a constitution to prevent illegal activities from taking place. If your friend steals $1000 and gives it to you and you knowingly accept that stolen money, you are a thief too. What’s so difficult for you to understand? You stupid bit&h, who released you from the Panadura brothel?

You are mistaken Prabhakaran with MR. :D Make your facts correct.
MR’s appointment is in accordance with the Constitution. The problem arose when the President didn’t follow the correct procedure to remove RW and it is not MR’s fault.
The only issue is the stupid President proroguing Parliament soon after his appointment and then dissolving it unconstitutionally both of which are beyond MR’s control.

Anyway, idiot the constitution is very clear. Go and read it if you can read. The President cannot fire the PM!!!!

MR as usual is like a dog, waiting for crumbs to fall down on the floor when the master is eating, so it can lick it. Prabaharan and Mahinda are brothers from two mother. Maybe you are a sister from the same family.

Do you think he doesn’t have brain to understand that he has no majority in Parliament? Is their any constitutional barrier to him o say No, I don’t want that post? Exactly Platoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !

I cant agree with you more.

We perfectly know how he stuggled and how the bastard son immediately ran to COUNTRY being on SHORTs immediately after his father was albeit not LEGAL became PM, thanks to the great betrayal of Sirisena.

Not UNP, butJVPrs make it very clear exponsing the long list of the alleged high criminals and the dates of their NEXT court sessions:
With the introduction of new COURTs to speed the processes, Rajakshes lived pieing in their pants and sought diehard to block those investigations.
Most of them are Rajakashes. But they never thought the plan would end up in pieces the way they ve been facing yet today.
And Sirisena was greedy at power – for an extension of his term.
He the fox thought it is his turn to twist the stupid mind set of Rajakashes.
Rajakshe was all along – according HINDU times – dreaming of his BASTARD eunach SON would have BECOME President in this country LET alone from 2025.
His reactions returning from recent INDIAN trip, MADE it very clear, MINIMARUWA Gota woudl not become the Presidential Candidate.
And those you got to see monkeying in the parliament last week (these men should be jailed for ever including new crimes they committed last week in the parliament) were all have got high profile court cases: the list is below

      1) Mahindananda -PATTA hora – has high profile court case, that will convict him to jail session – this bugger is the one who brought CHILLIE powder into Parliament on that day( a video is in circulation to prove the fact)
      2) Gonthadipila
      3) WImal Ponna wans
      4) Jonsten Fernando
      5)Arundhika fernando
      6)Prasanna Ranweera
      7) and lot more that you saw standing and throwing books and other hard materials on to Hon. Speaker ont hat day.

I don’t understand what is this brouhaha about transferring a particular Police Officer not known to anybody until his transfer.
What’s the big deal about his transfer?
If he is transferred, another Police Officer will take over and continue the investigations from the point where he stopped.
There are accepted principles and guidelines to carry out investigations. No Police Officer is empowered to act partial or dubious.
Besides, findings of investigations are based on facts, analysis and reasoning.
At the end of any investigations, the Police Officer is expected to make appropriate recommendations based on his findings. He has no room to deviate from standard guidelines when conducting investigations.
This is applicable to ALL Police Officers who are entrusted to carry out investigations, high profile or otherwise.
Making a brouhaha about the transfer of this particular Police Officer is an undue interference of the investigations.
Why some people want only Nishantha? Why not Kamal or Victor or somebody else? Is it because Nishantha is a UNPer? Ha ha ha
I think this big noise about Nishantha itself is a valid reason to replace him with another officer.

Four years have already passed. Some military officers are in jail without bail for no reason. I am sure they are not guilty.
In other cases too, when one intelligence officer is released on bail, another is taken into custody as if to fill the vacuum made by the other.
Your concerns about bribing a police officer can be applied to both sides.

So you as if went mad to raise, what is the importance of his transfer ? Are u at all normal Chamapawathie ? Or suffering from the same MAD COW DISEASE as Sirisena does ?

        1) Lasantha Murder – was known everyone that MR regime should take the responsiblity without any doubt.

        2) Thadjudeen Murder – entire Rajakashe family is behind that. This was then not a murder but an accident. But RANIL govt proved that incident should have been a murder. Remember ?
So who was the key CID officer tohave revealed them ?

        3) And not to underestimate why Balligeputha Rajaksahe cut the deal with Mad Sirisena that way, if MR would not have any high plans to cover things.

I think it is high time, THOSE WHO RESPECT TO HUMAN RIGHTS AND DEMOCRACY to stand and take away BALLIGE putha Rajakshe and his kith and kin away from our sight. He is the key to create ANARCHY in the country today.

Reading thru the lines, it is obvious that Ahimsa has penned this article from a far away land, and without any touch of the ground situation in Sri Lanka, as it seems to the case with many of the CT articles.

You do not need to remind the president to uphold and defend the constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka since the President, his secretariat , and his aides are fully capable of doing it.
However regrettable the murder of Lasantha W was, I do not recall any documented proof of you being a primary witness to the proceedings of the case.

Whilst I admire Lasantha to be a true investigative Journalist, some of his articles especially in the “Sunday leader”, had fabricated/ assumed evidence in their construction.

All details considered, Lasantha was an eminent figure in investigative journalism, and his murder in plain daylight was an absolute shock to us who believe in a free media.

The final conclusion is that unfounded accusations like laid down in Ahisma’s article above should not be taken seriously, since all of her arguments are baseless and unfounded.

However, I regard Ahimsa’s talents highly, and sincerely expect her to develop into a professional investigative journalist with age and experience.

      Dharshana W,

Because of dumb ass idiots like you – who have a little half-witted western “education” – our poor country is in this mess!

Lasantha was murdered in daylight for everyone to see ……… by the cowardly Rajapakses who always get others to do their dirt deeds.

If a selfish asshole like you can for a moment put yourself in Ahimsa’s position and imagine that it was your father or son that was killed you’ll be singing a different tune.

If you want to brown-nose the Rajapakse lowlifes do it in another column …….. leave this poor child alone; you scumbag.

      Dharshana W

All things being considered are you saying there is no case against the former and aspiring national hangman?
I take it that Lasantha faked his own death and is living in far off places, possibly Canada or down under, trying to sling mud on braveheart Gotabhaya.

Remember Sirisena is capable of upholding and defending the constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka only if the President wanted to. Well he had already stated categorically no Ranaviru should be prosecuted even if they raped his wife, mother, daughters, son, brothers, grandmas, granddaughters, ………..

Did Hopper Sirisena ask you to provide a character reference for himself and his functionaries?

      Ha bloody Ha!!!!!!!

If this was true true, why are they still cleaning the shit off the ceiling of the Mad House on the Diyawanne. Why are some MP’s having their pristine Arya-Sinhala suits laundered to get rid of the piss-chilli bombs that were thrown last week?

      Ha bloody Ha!!!!!

There is a separate class in Sri Lanka. They are called politicians. They help each other and cover their backs. Deals are made through commissions. and the funds collected for these deals are through selling nations assets. Nothing happens by crying out to these rogues.
The best thing is if any of your loved ones are killed blame the fate and forget about it. Nothing will happen by crying out to these fellows called politicians. They don’t have a religion. Wherever they go to worship its just to fool the people. They only truly worship money. If my comment had hurt the kith and kin of people killed by these politicians, I am sorry. But this is the absolute truth.

This is one hell of a demand, emotional or not!

Someone is asking that a transfer be cancelled because the man concerned was handling her father’s murder as one of his duties.

Which country in the world will listen to such absurd demands.

Get a life young woman. The world is bigger than your father.

    Dear Ahimsa,
Thank you for your single handed fight to protect the greatest hero of our history: Nishantha Silva.

Thanks for your fight against the sinister moves to destroy this national hero by GoTa, Sri Lanka’s Hitler and Mara’s criminal family.

Nishantha Silva stands above all heroes of our history.

Gamaralage Sirisena is only a cat’s paw of MaRa, GoTa and is being used as a tool to pave way for their return to power.

I hope MaRa, GoTa, Namal, Basil, Yoshitha et el will disappear from existence for ever before their next birthdays!! –my wish to free Sri Lanka from captivity of the most corrupted political family in our history.

Dear Ahimsa, your letter has sent a strong message out there. It has aided in a collaborative and concerted effort to apply pressure on the President gone berserk and the rogue regime. It will also encourage police officers and other peace officers to stand up and do their job with courage and pride! Thank you and God bless you!

Namal Kumara can come out with some story like killing “Garadiya” and Gota about Nishantha Silva. Shiral Lakthilaka this time come up with credible story. You may consult Wimal Weerawansa as he is expert in “Kumanthrana Stories”. Additional help from Dayan Jayathilaka. “Ada Da Rena” and Kudu Nalika be ready for live telecast the coup story. Namal Kumara must not forget bring his parents also for press conference. “Silisena Mee Haraka Adagena Naama”

Ahimsa is well named by her famous father – an ICON journalist unparalleled in investigative journalism.
It is to be hoped that her appeal be heeded and law enforcer Nishantha Silva be allowed to continue to perform his duty.
This brazen interference in law enforcement by this President, to save political lackeys from justice is reprehensible.

Absolutely Brilliant. Sillysena as the President is not only a national tragedy and a disgrace and he also is anti-human. It is a miracle and by Mercy of God, that the Sun and the Moon continue to rise after setting, over Srilanka with such a staggering number of evil doers living amidst us.

Ahimsa, you are a brave daughter of mother lanka aside from biological dad in Lasantha Wickrematunga. Your dad was a fearless writer no matter what were the odds for his life. Unfortunately you wrote to a turncoat cutthroat. He does not understand English though he sits in the throne as President. A translation of your letter be done in Sinhala and Tamil languages since you have exposed those Tamil and Muslim youths who have been brutally murdered during that pol pot regime under MARA & GORA.
If public opinion is the ultimate objective, better all letters akin to above are translated in other two languages as well. Then rural masses will get to know who(murderers) they have voted for and elected?

While it seem the only one good thing amendment 19 has done is the true independence of the Police commission to defend a reputable Officer in Uniform, meanwhile as usual Asad salliya is yet playing his broken record of Ranil’s political history of loosing multiple times and the period of remaining in opposition.

What he fails to conceive is by doing it so frequently, he has endorsed that Ranil is a good loser and a great lone soldier , meanwhile he does not see the three fingers pointing back towards him .

What victory can he boast of ? He even let down the Kandy voters by deceiving them, took their votes and came running back to Colombo.

He thought he can bait the Colombo voters with the Ranil bait, they did not bite it , he keeps forgetting that Colombo Voters are a very unique cultured fraternity,(The original colombo voters )

Race ,religion ,hate and prejudice won’t get you Colombo’ votes .they are to much united in a mindset of rightful thinking ,and now you know why they opted for Rosy and not you even with all your trumpeting that none know Colombo better than you do.

This is the difference with Colombo’ Muslim voters ,just because one is a Muslim will not qualify , you have to be able to look beyond all barriers and also deliver.

Hence Karu was chosen He not only delivered ,he also completely transformed the CMC with modern mechanism and introducing private companies to get the job done right , and today Rosy ,she will deliver and meanwhile just keep playing your top of the pop RW broken record and get Faras to huf and puf the rap ,you two will make a lovely duo .congrats , huh ! !

The investigation so far carried out and reported to Courts pointed out that there are “Invisible” hands interfering with on-going proceedings. Already a document filed in Courts by “GR” has been proved to be “Falls” and an “altered” version of an “Agreement”. In addition the “Money Transfer” from the Navy Account has been traced to a “Non Existing” Business outfit and in that the , a direct accusation has been made to the Ex “Diplomat” to Russia Mr. Udyanga Weeratunga. All these and many other evidence have been unearthed in relation to the “MIG Deal”. It is also, noteworthy, to see the present “IGP” for some unknown reason being “present” at the “Birthday Pooja” of MR, standing right behind GR (a picture is in the social media) and this “Transfer Order” signed “Next Day” by him. Next comes the “Arrest Order” of the present “Services Head” issued by the Courts. Has it been executed yet? NO. Then Why and “WHO” has prevented it? This “Ranaviriwa” has got directly involved in releasing funds from the Navy Account to send abroad another “Ranaviriwa” nick named – “Army Sampath” and those facts have been “Established”. Then comes “Prgeeth Ekneligoda” case. His wife is still fighting to find her husband. All these very many such “Brutal Killings” and “Disappearances” have been traced to one “SINGLE” unit that operated under “Direct Command” and or “In The Know” of ex Defense Secretary – GR. who now faces Court cases in the normal courts as well as “Special Courts”. That is why the “Minister of Justice” of the “JUNTA” said that he would soon abolish these “Special Courts”. Isn’t it not known the reason WHY “GR” asked for a “2/3rd Majority” at the next election for the “Pohottuwa”? Why some of the comments are condemning a DAUGHTER whose FATHER has been “Brutally Killed”? Mind you BLOOD is THICKER than Water. So goes, even terribly WRONG with MR & Family., in which case ONE BROTHER trying to PROTECT other BROTHERS, SONS , WIFE and many other RELATIVES. Try to see what is RIGHT and WRONG in the two cases.

    Ahimsa,

We support you on this effort. Although there are many other murders of innocents that happened under the Gotabhaya-MR regime, your father’s murder was a high profile one, and being the murder of a journalist, that has international attention, as in the Khashoggi case, so if the perpetrators are brought to justice for this murder, gradually justice for other murders will also become possible.

So thanks for the brave letter and let us all keep up the pressure.

now the cat is out of the bag as to who was always trying to delay the cases.President was accusing ranil for the delay.Even now when water cannons were used on the monks he said he did not know that they had come to see him, forgetting that he is now the law and order minister, not the UNP.

Anyway no point in writing to this fellow, the police commission has already cancelled the transfer.

As per the letter, it is obvious that it is a recent development that caused the transfer and most likely the Inspector aiming at the CDS. What Ahimsa will never feel so as long as she is living outside Sri Lanka being out of touch of the local conditions, is that there are ethno-religious considerations in the decision making of Sri Lanka. To provide a factual lead, the policy on recruitment to the three forces were changed, introducing this ethno-religious considerations in recruitment to the tri-forces after the 1962 coup. It was officially disbanded after JRJ became the President but for all practical purposes it continued with a very few exceptions. Inspector Adrian is now at the receiving end adding these considerations into the issue. Reminding MY3 in particular and politicians in general of their past pledges is useless because they know that they can give any pledge and get away for not fulfilling because the voter has no recourse for false pledges given. I was duped into voting MY3+RW combine to find that they had their own ambitions ultimately leading to a dissolution of the team with hardly any fulfilment of the beautiful pledges that they gave the voters. Had I taken all these political promises with a pinch of salt, I would not have bothered to go to the polling booth that day. The real issue here is though people are supposed to be sovereign in this country from 1972 May 22, that is only ornamental and we have no real right to take the politician to task while in power for abusing our trust reposed on them. I believe that in considering the state of the machinery, writing and publishing this letter can only makes things worse for Inspector Adrian.

It’s not a ‘moving’ letter at all. She uses the word ‘heck’ and and also ends the letter in threatening tones. Her courage to do so, seemingly a trait acquired from the father’ must be admired.

To whoever gave me a thumps down it’s. what our people are good at ,never like to accept reality.
Today the dollar has hit above Rs.180.00 , people in pettah doing all sort of monkey business may even ask me what does it matter to you the dollar? you don’t don’t any imported trading ?
Some will never understand its the common man who will suffer the most.
And unbelievable, when the Media question Bandulla about the Rupee depreciation, shameless he did a u turn ,earlier it was the fault of the previous government, and now he say don’t expect the ruppee to stop deprecating just because we made Mahinda sit on PM”s seat ,and he is now blaming international crisis for the Rupee depreciation.
I really want the people to sit back and now think before they vote ,demand for constitution change, demand it now, demand it today before its to late, demand it for our future generation, its our duty.
I can on my own able to provide lot of analysis ,but to a segment. Of people who needs a bogey man to blame it on ,superstition to blame the stars ,a witch hunt to become the lamb to sacrifce ,all to defend their political preference,it would do no good and be a criminal waste of bandwidth.
By Friday if the crisis is not solved .
Who knows ,we may loose our tourism, our GSP plus , our investment ,our stock market may shake , ,we may not even be able to travel ,no western nation will want us due to the way we continue to insult them …
Only middle east a place which is in worse crisis .
Its in the hands of the President, he need to decide .
