Letter To Lt. Gen. Daya Ratnayake, The Army Commander Of Sri Lanka

By Muhammed Fazl

“When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right” – Victor Hugo

Dear Sir,

It is no more a secret now your involvement in politics on behalf of President Mahinda Rajapaksa (MR) whilst serving as the army commander. While I understand your plight should a new government comes to power, in the best interests of my country and my countrymen, I decided to write to you and to create a sense of awareness among the public of an impending human catastrophe should you continue to operate beyond acceptable norms.

Browsing through the SL army’s webpage, I couldn’t help but notice you spending more time in conference and seminar rooms than you actually had spent in the battlefield. Assuming you have a conscience to uphold the rule of law, thought it would also be timely to remind you of your recent ‘errors in judgment’ and hope you would respond to the following observations,

1 – Your failure to implicate or investigate Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mr. Basil Rajapaksa for their involvement in giving Rs. 700 million to the LTTE in 2005 as alleged by the late Sripathy Sooriyarachi;

And by Mr. Tiran Alles

2 – Your failure to defend your own kind and the only 4-star General in the country from malicious prosecution and cooked-up charges while portraying yourself as a ‘Brave heart’ in the eyes of pseudo-nationalists when confronted by the International Community.

3 – As the Army Commander, your failure to detain and press charges against KP, Daya Master for supporting a ruthless terrorist organization and for their involvement in supporting the MR political campaign when no official pardon has been granted to date. And all this while I was made to believe that you would protect this country from the scourge of terrorism.

4 – Wilful prosecutions or guilty verdicts, erasing General Fonseka’s profile, picture and his tenure of three and half years from the web page of ‘Past Army Commanders’ has reflected poorly on your professional conduct.

5 – In an article which appeared in the Daily News, you seems to be praising the Secretary to the Minister of Defence, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa excessively and portraying yourself as a propaganda agent of the Rajapaksas. I assume you were unaware of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa having a voice of his own.

6 – Inviting President Rajapaksa as a chief guest when returning fraction of the stolen gold, originally owned by the Northern Tamils, thus politicizing a simple occasion in favor of the Rajapaksas.

7 – Allegations of releasing of serving army personnel for election campaigns of President Rajapaksa.

8 – Your failure to accelerate the construction of 50,000 houses (as promised by MR) for military personnel.

9 – Forcing army personnel to resort to menial jobs and the unjustifiably increased budgetary allocation for the Army while under your watch and during peace times.

10 – Your failure to investigate inferior and over-priced military procurements made by Lanka Logistics in the same line as you had done when prosecuting General Sarath Fonseka, and that too 5 years after the war ended.

11 – Your failure to apprehend over 50,000 army deserters who are absent without leave (AWOL), resulting in increased levels of serious crimes.

12 – Your failure to recover thousands of illegal weapons in use, even by means of offering monetary rewards for information which could have led to recoveries.

13 – I left the best for the last. 75 personnel belonging to the Special Forces of the Army stripped naked waist up, tied together and loaded in one bus like cattle outside Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel when General Fonseka was laid siege soon after the last Presidential Elections in 2010.

Believing there still exists patriotism and men of honor amongst the majority of serving army personnel, I acknowledge your limits in election campaigning and your vulnerable position in deciding between petty personal gains and completing a distinguished career.

As you are aware, I did try getting an appointment from your ADC Major Wairangoda for a direct meeting with you in order to convey my fears of a possible Army intervention on behalf of the Rajapaksas. In an age where even our wives don’t seek our consent when stepping out of the house, it was indeed regretful when I was informed of the requirement to seek approval beforehand from the Mr. Gotabaya headed Ministry of Defense (MOD). I can only hope that you are not just a figure-head in the army.

While it is no secret of the existence of a long standing hatred and animosity between you and General Fonseka, your fears of victimization in the event of Mr. Maithripala Sirisena (MS) led opposition coming to power is indeed justifiable. But believing very much in Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, General Sarath Fonseka and in their honorable conduct, I have no reason to believe that they would engage in vengeful politics should you decide to uphold the Army’s code of conduct and should you put the interest of my twenty million plus countrymen before your personal interests even at THIS stage.

Having done my part for a much needed change this country so rightly deserves and being certain of the downfall of the MR regime on the 8th of January, I humbly request you to secure all exit points in the country in order to prevent corrupt individuals connected to MR from fleeing the country and to maintain law and order until the new government is sworn-in. This action alone would suffice in exonerating you of your past misdeeds and I will personally strive in defense of your position, honor, retirement benefits and future appointments. It is possible since I interact with the highest levels in the opposition camps.

On a personal note, please bear in mind that as much as you love your two sons, your daughter and your wife, millions of your countrymen are in dire need of shelter, food and a source of sustenance all thanks to the despotic masters you serve. I must also caution you against contravening rules of conduct and in your failure to maintain a sense of independence from the government in power when voting is underway.

It is 2.50pm Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), January 06, 2015, and in conclusion and most importantly, I sure hope you will have satisfactory answers for 15 of the country’s 17 Gajaba army regiments heading towards Colombo as I write, and sincerely hope our paths will cross each other’s on a conciliatory term in the near future.

God Bless,
Muhammed Fazl

Imagine Jihadhists wanting to meet the Army Commander in United Kingdom let alone the United States…

And those are the two countries which helped to form the Opposition of SLFP defectors with the UNP Christian Faction,LTTE Diaspora, TNA,and the Muslim brotherhood of Hakeem, Bathdeen and Assath Sally.

Now Jihadi Fazi is threatening the Army Commander of Srilanka because the latter didn’t join the Opposition..

Wonder why Fazi used the Christian term “God Bless” on the The Army Commander?.

      K.A Sumanasekera

WE have read your endless scathing of all that you perceive as the enemies of the state, people and the government (ruling clan).

Now its time for you to rebut Fazl’s charges.

We can understand clan’s connivance with VP and his LTTE. The rendezvous with LTTE and the price the clan paid to VP is understandable which brought them to power and allow them to accumulate wealth which in fact belongs to the people Dalit of course.

What is in it for you?

        Dear Native,

I don’t think Fazi can make this sot of threats to the Army Commander in his own Mohammeds’ lands, let alone the HR dispensers’ Western Lands.

Still Uncle Sam and Pommy Cameron reckon we are the “A list” HR violators,

They want to punish us by handing over the reins to the Elite, Anglicans, Vellalas and now the new addition the Fazi, Bathudeen , Sally and Hakeen Brotherhood.,

Sadly there are suckers among our Politicians, who call themselves Sinhala Buddhist and helping the West and even the LTTE Tigers to punish the inhabitants.

Just because his name started with Mohmmed you have not right comment on that. Further he was born and brought up in motherland where you and I were born. There is argument to drag about some other land for your comment. I hope you will be civlised after 9th if not you will be forced to be civilised by your mother… if you have any.

“Wonder why Fazi used the Christian term “God Bless” on the The Army Commander?”

Its a pertinent question. May be Fazl is a secret born again Christian.

Do you want him to sign off with K.A Sumanasekera bless god?

Would you prefer if he concluded his article with “May He Attain Nibbana”?

      Dear Sumane,

Fazl’s questions are painfully legitimate. And very brave.

It is a fact, corrupt King Kong manipulated people’s Will at the 2005 Presidential election. By bribing the worst terror outfit the world has ever seen. An extremely serious charge. Far worse than treason.

As a citizen of this country, Fazl is fully entitled to receive answers from public servants to these questions. Army Commander is a public servant.

Therefore forget about USA or UK. Fazl is a Sri Lankan. And this his country. Just like yours and mine.

      Cheers!

      PS:
Sumane, it is time for you to be a real man. Just like Fazl.

        Ben Hurling:

Its is a lot easier to be a vocal worrier (like Fazl) in Colombo than to be a real soldier in the midst of a guerrilla war, even for one day!

Unfortunately in a democracy every tom, dick and harry even if they have achieved nothing, has the right to question and demand everything under the sun from men who have contributed and sacrificed for the country a lot more than they have done themselves.

        Cheers!

          Not “unfortunately,” fortunately every Kusuma,Leela
and Soma along with Silva,Bala and Muhammad paid for
the ground hero to be a hero and you underestimate
the contribution of every single citizen of this
country simply because the didn’t go to the war
front with arms. And also remember that it’s the
vocal warriors who laid the foundation for this
catastrophe to which the heroes were needed to
          extinguish.

If you don’t agree with current democratic practices of electing the leaders and representatives of the people you can always amend the constitution to suit your understating of democracy.

Constitution must be amended to exclude slaves, minorities, non degree holders, those who dodged army conscription and did not serve in the armed forces, women, under the age of 18, those who did not commit war crimes, wise men/women, …………. all non Sinhala/Buddhists,……. those who don’t own properties,

This is a great article –
Thanks to CT and Brother Mohammed.
Right at the moment Rajapakshes are making every effort to make black as white – in order to mislead the nation and rob their votes.
So in a critical moment like this – at least few to get the realities and pass it to as much as they could bring more votes to the opposition.

They are together with BBS (balu balu Sena) making every effort to pass blatant lies to the muslim community – but writer as a muslim himself passing this way is a great thing really. Jayawewa for motherland and all srilankens that make every effort to get rid of the nation-s Kalakanniya- the man who looted the nation to this day. Ballige putha make big talks thinking he would be reelected, but it is just a dream -let s see it in two days.
JAYA WEWA JAYA WEWA JAYA WEWA JAYA WEWA JAYA WEWA JAYA WEWA JAYA WEWA

        Hey friends,

if we would compare it with the last election results.

Those who failed to vote last time – the youth of the country will only vote for opposition. That alone will be atleast 900 000 more votes than last time. But to win the election you need to get at least another 9 lacks since the gap last time amounted nearly 1.8 million votes.
If one would speak to the people coming from all walks in the society, you definitely feel that more than every second is against Rajano. That is a sign that many will deny MR this time.

All in all, I believe. JAYA NIYATHAI by 9th Jan.
May all the strengths of gods be with srilankens to drive away the man who almost destroyed everything of the nation alone during last 5 years.

Sumana, what you people want man, war all the time? Recently browsing through LW, raja says eastern Muslim Tamils ( May be twin goal of coupling ethic and religious slogan)want safristan for them; I have not heard/seen anywhere this name “Safristan”, what an invention by rowdypatcha to fool you for next 30 years.

K.A Sum or whatever that name is, let’s call a spade a spade shall we. MaRa can act like he owns the place, if the opposition use the same dirty tactics you panic and cry like a child “but.. but they can’t do that”.

Your worry is the country has not still become a Sinhala-Buddhist country, sorry to say and frustrate you further it never will be.One Mullivaikal could not do it and if people like you plan on another (militarily or diplomatically) to achieve you racist agenda certainly it won’t go down well for your clan.

The last para of the article is somewhat disturbing. Is Gota planning for a military coup in the event of his brother losing the election? If he tries that, he will realise his mistake before long!

I think that is what he is doing. If not publicizing this information, as if they were leaked, to intimidate and deter the public voting against his brother. Would be inference: Vote for my brother if you do not wish to live in army rule. Scaremongering and dirty tactics.

Funny thing…I hope the dumb ….. who feel it is their right to insult anyone they cannot agree with, understand the response to any coup attempt will be swift and extremely telling.

    How you ask?

India, as a proxy of the US and Europe will mount so much pressure the likes of which the Rajahoras have never seen in their lives. It will not be like bull-shitting Modi about the 13th amendment.

If these dumb ….. wish to prove their stupidity, which some of us have long concluded is a genetic defect, they should try. I think the Gajaba Regiments movements are about protecting Gota and signalling to the other Regiments that they are moving!

So, Army commander or Navy commander ; should know by the time the voting closes on the 8th, who is going to be their boss when the sun comes up on the 9th. Like the judiciary and Police that have discovered the ‘law’ in the last 48 hours, the Armed forces chiefs will get a quick lesson on constitutional law and martial law. For both, we have to thank the ‘suddas’…..

    Muhammed Fazl –

“When dictatorship is a fact, revolution becomes a right” – Victor Hugo

The French Revolution (French: Révolution française) was an influential period of social and political upheaval in France that lasted from 1789 until 1799. Inspired by radical and liberal ideas, the Revolution profoundly altered the course of modern history, marking the global decline of absolute monarchies and organized religions and replacing them with democracies and republics. Through the Revolutionary Wars, it unleashed a wave of global conflicts that extended from the Caribbean to the Middle East.

In Sri Lanka, the Masses with an average IQ of 79 is going to the polls to decide between the Medamulana MaRa dictatorship and Family Dynasty and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

PS. Presidential Election Almost over, but let’s wait to see if some Sri Lankan writer surfaces from somewhere…. Yes, getting the Sri Lankan writers to write the Common sense Pamphlet Sri Lanka 2014 or 2015 was like herding Cattle (Harak). They kept making strange noises , Baeee, Baeee and Baeee, which only the Cattle(Harak) could comprehend. They say Okkooma Harak! We just wait, and wait and wait…. Hello Thomas Paine can you hear us….

BTW have the Army Commander and all other GR lackeys in the Army sent their wives and families to China as yet? Well, politicians’ families have beaten them to it, so we know whom the MR & Co would like to take public’s flak for them.

About wives deserting husbands and going to live in luxury on their own, I am sure the Chinese would like their money (commissions and ill gotten profits) back in their own country, which all these wives are taking there for safe keeping.

Actually, China might not be all that happy about MR’s governance either, because, I am sure they feel let down by MR’s mis-governance and downfall this time, which in turn make China lose its influence in mid Indian Ocean. China could certianly lose its influence in the Indian Ocean that it developed, purely because of their ally’s greedy and corrupt rule. So, MRhas not only let us its citizens down, but he has let down mighty China too. They might even trade them back to Sri Lanka and MS in return for maintaining China’s influence in SLK, against Western competition. That’s how the cookies crumble when it comes to international strategic power game. MR and their retinue hiding in China would be just pieces of exchangable commodities in the power game.

Celyon has traditionally appointed spineless leaders to military hierarchy to avoid this eventuality.

This is precisely why the military struggled for so long against LTTE.

Coupe de et has never been a thing in Ceylon. The people are too politically savvy to be under any kind of dictatorship.

  • 4
    7

I don’t think this is a fair judgement on the Army Commander. Over the years Lt. Gen. Daya Ratnayake has been a decorated officer who has been in the war front. Also he is a smart and fair army official.
Just because you have are against MR, it doesn’t worth to accuse all the officials, especially the decorated soldiers like him.

  • 4
    1

Daya the Rat was kept on cold-storage by the then gallant soldier Gen SF as this man was good for nothing guy.

He does not have any battlefield experience and just a Rajapaksa boot licker and started his tenure after shooting on the innocent villagers in Rathupassala who was to beg for clean drinking water and against the factory that polluted releasing toxic waste which was happened to be owned by the Casino mogul and chief Rajapaksa money launderer.

This man should be taken to task come 9th Jana and there will be only one candidate as the Minister of Defense and its the war hero Gen SF.

With the able leadership of the Gen SF, these Daya the Rats and other useless Army officers like Jagath Jayasuriya need to be taken to task for openly canvassing for the despot regime.

It is clear that Daya Ratnayake has no backbone and is a lackey. A simple instance is his permitting the Rajapakse son to be appointed captain of the Army Rugby Team! Allowing him to be an outside member as permitted by the rules is one thing, but making him captain is outrageous and an insult to all those past and present Army rugby players including Gen. Kobbekaduwa. He has even permitted the enclosing of Rajapakse propaganda with Officers’ Pay Slips!!

Ms CBK says , she got the gear to smoke out Rajapaksa, regardless of whether he is standing alone or with the Army.

But she ain’t going to tell anyone.even the BBC Sandeshaya, what her magic gear is?

May be she has signed a pact with CH4 for a bit of Dough .

I mean she will need it when she has to move to London in case Sira gets done.

But the issue which concerns the peace loving inhabitant majority is, whether they are going to face a second and third front this time, unlike the single Front of the Tamil Terrorists.

I mean SLMC Hakeem has wetted the appetite of some Muslims like this writer,

And there are two known leaders in Bathudeen and Assath Sally who are already licking their lips.

So the Second front is already in place.

Ven Rathna and JVP Kumar have already said that they have organized the logistics to lay siege to all important Govt Organizations on the 9th.

JVP Kumara even went further to tell us that he has put JVP activists in each Election office, booth and even Postal Dept.

    How did he do that?.

Has the UNP put their youth Wing under JVP Kumara?.

Then we have the Reverend,, Surendran and UNP London which can mobilize the ex LTTE with the help of the TNA .

Looks like our LT General Rathnayaka has has his work cut out.

May be Fazi is trying a fast one to distract the General…

    Mr Muhammed Fazl
This is very brave of you, and may I wish you ever greater strength to your elbow.

We who are removed from the political scene learn hugely from contributions from the likes of you and other correspondents, nondescript and distinguished alike, in this forum even though it is unfortunately blocked from Lankans.

If you win, let it be by the code; and if you lose, let’s hope the winning side played by the code. Regardless, I think the recent developments have helped hugely to bring Lankans out of the clutches of a ruthless dictatorship thinly disguised as a ‘socialist democracy, and whether you win or lose, let us all hope that the Lankan people will never, ever be so foolish as to fall for the misguided guile of slick politicians, be they SWRDB, JRJ or the Medamulana Village Idiot.

Enlightened legislators must as a matter of utmost urgency, frame the necessary ground rules, checks and balances and controls to ensure that riff-raff of the likes of what we see as ‘parliamentarians’ today are never again allowed to enter the hallowed portals of the legislature or judiciary.
