Letter To My President On The National List

A letter to my president on the nomination of Mr. ALM.Athaullah in the National List.

Mr.President,

We hear news that Mr. ALM Athaullah former Ampara Member of Parliament and a defeated candidate of UPFA in the last election is to be given MP in the UPFA national list.

Mr. President as a citizen of this beloved country and a voter of Ampara district I think I have a right to suggest, sometimes oppose the decisions taken by you. This is the basic tenant of fine democracy.

Mr. President I am from the same village Mr. Athaullah is from. I and he inhaled the same air of Akkaraipattu. I and he walked on the same road. I and he bathed in the same sea. I know him better than you do.

Athaullah and Mahinda

Athaullah and Mahinda

MR. President we supported your campaign against Mahinda Rajapaksa’s ruthless reign. We happily voted for you. We needed a change in our country. Not only we want to change Mahinda Rajapaksa we but also we want to change those who bootlicked Mr.Rajapaksa. What would there be a point of the head is gone and the tails still swing.

The mandate Sri Lankan people gave during both the Presidential Election and parliamentary Election and the message they conveyed to this beautiful country is crystal clear. “We will not tolerate anybody to rape our country. We will not let racism pop up and devour our nation. We will not let any money mongers to usurp our country. We will not let any ugly faces to twaddle our nation’s economy even if they defeated terrorism. Am I correct Mr. President?

The head of the snake is gone. But the tails are tittering here and there. People taught a lesson to those tails. Almost all those tails of Mahinda Rajapaksa kissed the dust in the last election.one of those tails is Mr. ALM Athaullah from Ampara district. You know him very well and who he supported during the last Presidential Election and this Parliamentary Election. My home town clearly defeated him. He was able to secure 16770 votes. A clear defeat and clear messages from Ampara Muslims. MR.Athallah we don’t need you and we don’t agree with your politics.

Mr. President what made you go against the mandate of the people of Ampara? What prompted you to give him a position in the parliament when his own voters told him we do not want him in the parliament. Mr. President I don’t need to take you political lessons on democracy. You are well versed in that. The main element of democracy is to safeguard the mandate of the people. In Ampara district the mandate of the people is that they don’t want him. We humbly request you to respect our mandate Mr. President.

The people of Ampara didn’t vote for him. People from his own village Akkaraipattu didn’t vote for him. The people of Akkaraipattu know very well that if they do not vote for him the whole village will lose their representation they enjoyed for the last fifteen years. While knowing that they rejected him. How strong is their massage. We request you to respect that Mr. President.

Mr. President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the President of this country. Everyone knows he is corrupted. But it is hard to bring him to the books. Why? Law needs evidence. Criminal are acquitted or not caught not because they are not criminals but because we don’t have evidence. They are lot of Mahindas in this Country. There are lots of tails of Mahinda. Athaulla is one of them. Since we could not prove what he had done, we simply rejected him using our power of vote. But you decided to bring him back. I do not think democracy works in this way.

I have thought. What might have prompted my president to give him National List.is he much educated? No.is he a scholar? No. his knowledge will help develop the nation no. then what would have been your reason. Could it be your party interest? Could be. If you lose Athaullah you think UPFA will lose the votes of Ampara Muslims. Because he is the one who is helping to get Ampara Muslims votes for UPFA. That could be the possible reason you chose to give him in National List. You proved before that you prefer People over party by opposing UPFA candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa. It is another time for you to choose between your party and people. Would you chose the people of Ampara or your Party in Ampara Mr. President?

Mr. President, purpose of the National List had never been to let the defeated creep to the Parliament from its back door.it is to invite the educated to help the country. Why Sri Lankan politics is using this National List to reject the mandate of the people and let the rejected rejoin the parliament. Mr. President we don’t need Mr. Athuallah. We told through the ballot clearly. We request you to respect the feelings and the mandate of the people. If not we will be very disappointed. Because you are bringing the rubbish to our bedroom which we swept away on 17th.

Mr.President, it is the high time to build the country. Country was freed from terrorism and engulfed by Mahindaism. Today is the day our country is free from all clutches of evil. We join hands with you and Prime minister to build this great nation. But we demand you as the citizens of this country to not give National List to those who people rejected like Athuallah. I hope there are many like this.

Mr. President I do not know whether my message will reach you. But my duty is to convey you. I did that clearly.

MAY GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY.

So, those who sucked MaRa MaRa Chatu MaRa Amana MaRa, got defeated are qualified to be in the National list?

So, the National list is not distinguished at all.

Just another Club for the politicians.

MS is positioning to buy out the Mara Mara Chatu MaRa cronies..

If it leads to dumping and isolating MaRa MaRa, then good. The goal is to isolate and get rid of MaRa MaRa Chatu MaRa..

Very valid points at a personalized level. The same goes for those shouting themselves hoarse to bring Rosy in. Mamma thro her friendship with arch crook SajinVaas who is now in jail, got unqualified daughter a plum overseas job at state expense. Now Mamma wants a plum job herself even though her voters rejected her. Beware RW, My3 all that glitters is not gold. Just Pitthala in the sunshine.

      Will Rosy be an Ambassador?

She is qualified to be Ambassador as well as an MP, compared to many others.

        @Amarasiri

“Will Rosy be an Ambassador? “

Stop hallucinating. I never posed the question. Coz I know that there are much better people to fit the role. Just ask the people who were expected to vote for her.

          @Chimp Of A Ranawake,

“Just ask the people who were expected to vote for her.”

So, in a crowded field, she is not competitive?

Yes. We should get back to Meritocratic selection as the primary qualification criteria. That way, avoid idiots and cronies with with low IQ and very low common sense be appointed.

They should be tested for competency.

You have a good point, in that Rosy was tested in a field of candidates by the people. Why didn’t the women not vote for her.

Because she was prettier than most of the women voters? Jealousy?

Yes. She knows the subject very well. Send her to the UN organization that looks after protection of women and children as Sri Lanka’s Representative.

          The Professional

“Send her to the UN organization that looks after protection of women and children as Sri Lanka’s Representative. “

Sri Lanka needs Rosy right here to protect the women and children from Rapists, politicians and their cronies.

“Send her to the UN that looks after protection of women and children “

She will need protection herself from MonKey Boon. Remember what happened to the maid in the bathroom of the IMF. Ask our Cabburala the crook of the CB and he will tell you all about the oversexed Strauss Kahn who he invited here at state expense.

Defeat is defeat, that is why elections are held, what is the meaning of election…….there shouldn’t be a system to challenge the people’s verdict in true democracy, this election results will emancipate struggle for removal of National List system from all electoral process, political parties have failed to use it for the purpose it meant for but mute the people’s verdict! I am on track for this!!

Thanks, brother Razi. We people of Akkataipattu defeated him on Democratic way is the clear message to our country, but some anti muslim elements try to bring Athaulla to the Parliament is a sign of shitty politics.

      @Mihad

      “….some anti muslim elements …. .”

Aha! There you go again……….. raising the ugly spectre of communalism. What is so ‘Muslim’ and “anti-muslim “in the election process of a multicultural democracy? I am a Muslim myself but would not allow shades of communalism to creep into every aspect of my life.If you said “some anti SRILANKAN elements try to bring Athaulla to the Parliament” I can understand becos Rajapakse and his wild ways were a threat to ALL communities of srilanka; not just the Muslims. We need to look at him as a common enemy and also prevent ourselves from being alienated by narrow ISIS/Taliban types of contorted ideologies. This requires a paradigm shift in the thinking of people like you. So go, revisit your mindset and learn to look at things as a SriLankan and not a narrow-minded Muslim.

        Brother Jabir,
Better ignore Mihad. He could be a SLMC supporter. So for him anything which happens against SLMC is ‘anti muslim’, such as Athaullah. He is used to it. I hardly believe he knows what he is talking. So better don’t take it seriously. Athaullah has dug his own grave. But the personal enmity these people show against a politician is nothing to do with good governance or anything. They would be more than happy to bring any shit to the parliment from SLMC any time any day .

    Dear Commenters,
The defeat of Athaulla was he burnt his own ship. That is a different story. But the one who has written this article is controversial individual in Akkaraipattu. I am also writing an article to be sent to CT why Athaullah was defeated and how the so called other Muslim Leaders were elected?

And why this man has not criticized the other Muslim leaders but Athaullah is a personal hostility against Athaulla for not having turned down the request of providing a vehicle to his father while he was a supporter of Athaulla and so on.

    wait for my article please.
    Thanks

Some fake “kilakku makkans” of shop goer’s for Athaulla perform to divert the real situation in Akkaraipattu by stomach burnings.Like Razi and many other new generation understood Athaulla’s pimp politics that demolished the calm life. Due to the reason young voters pushed him to garbage field this time.

    Kilakkau Makan,

01.here comes another tail of Athaullah. it is proved that you hide your face behind your pen name

02.In Logic we call it ad hominum-attacking the individual instead of the Argument.explain to rationally why his article is wrong. don’t try character assassination.

03.you say he is a controversial guy.true.tell me one writer in the world who opposed their rulers and not portrayed as controversial.

04.you said you are going to write an article as to why he was defeated.all the best.but there is no need to dig the reasons behind a defeat at this moment.the mandate of the people is clear as he has mentioned in the Article.people don’t need him. rather writing the reasons behind the defeat we would like to hear from you why those who were defeated by the people to be included in the NL.

05.i dont understand what this article is to do with Athaullah not giving a vehicle to his dad.he is talking about respecting the mandate of the people.you are talking about vehicle.

Good point Razi. Why should a rejected candidate in the election be given a place in the Parliament on the National list? Keep the National list for intellectuals who can contribute to the country’s progress & not cronies & boot licking party faithfulls who are there to line their own pockets.

It is crystal clear that this guy (Mr.Razi) has written this article neither for the sake of Muslim community nor for the sake of nation but, only to take revenge on Athaullah. The way he has written on face book against Athaullah clearly tells the true intention of this guy. I strongly believe that Mr.Razi is a agent of anti-Athaullah faction operating in Akkaraipattu and other part of coastal line of eastern province, and acting on behalf of the gang who are attempting to destabilize the unity of Akkaraipattu People.
Most of the Akkaraipattu people voted against MR in the Presidential election due to the thuggery of BBS. In the concluded General Election, almost 45% of Akkaraipattu people voted against UPFA as anti-Athaullah gang spread a fear among the people that if UPFA wins at the GE, Mahinda will be elected as a prime minister and BBS’thuggery will re-start against muslims and hence, the people voted believing this maneuver. But, it is true for ever that the people who are loving the mother land of Akkaraipattu never rejected Athaullah. Therefore, I suspect that this man Mr.Razi has been working against Athaullah with some hidden agenda. I read the comments under this article.there are 18 responses so far of which 2 comments are against the writer of this article.if you read the oppoising two comments, the commentators seem to be knowing the writer personnelly and are from his same hometown akkaraipattu.i doubt these two commentators could be some stalwart supportes of Mr.Athaullah.

the article says candidate who are rejected by the people should not be allowed to parliament since it is destroying the basic fabric of democracy.though he has written it in a personalized level it applys to all defeated candiidates.

i also see Mr.ALM Athaullah is considered only for Akkaraipattu while he is to be considered for whole Ampara district.he is a candidate for ampara district not exclusivley for Akkaraipattu.when he is defeated it is not the point who exactly defeated him.his defeat says he was rejected by ampara people.i do not know why he is restricted only in Akkaraipattu.
