Where did all that sponsorship money go, if the players had to foot their own expenses and didn’t get training equipment
/
TK / September 5, 2012
Sponsorship was not for individual training. It was for the squad to participate for the games. The corporate macro reality check is based on ROIs as you know :)) … * When airfare for journo squads are sponsored companies get top publicity from the media orgs represented by the journos in the squad. Similarly, when the paralympic team is sponsored, companies get top publicity across all media. (high burst publicity). * RRS (branding – ”world’s first reality show for security forces personnel”), audience reach is island-wide, across all socio-economic classification categories. Pradeep Sanjaya is also a Rana Viruwa, he serves in the Army. But his talent is in sports ; paralympic is not popular/no high interest among local audiences. No gain in sponsoring part- paralyzed individuals for long years in training even though a ‘war hero’. That’s the corporate and macro political reality check

He is a breath of fresh air in an Island stifled with corruption and nepotism. Talented people like him do never matter in the greater vision of macro politics directed towards spewing hatred and neglect at lesser beings.

Pradeep Sanjaya congratulations. Salute you for your achievement.
I sincerely hope that you would uphold a sportsman spirit but speak for many neglected sporting community abled and differently-abled, male and female, young and old, North and South, buddhists and non-buddhists, city schools and village schools. Now you are the at the helm of the SL elites, do something positive for Sri Lanka.
Ask not what the country has done for you,
Ask what you can do for your country! (JFK)

It is the efforts of such Snajaya, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena, Malinga and others before them who won the Cricket World Cup bring fame and credit to Sri Lanka while the politicians with their corrupt, communal and violent culture bring ill-fame and discredit. Let us hail these sportsmen and denounce the politicians.
