Agree Navin, many of the lankens are buddhists ONLY on the paper. They are not at all real buddhists. They just follow the other around them. That is their way of life. Real buddhists in general react with MUCH more intelligent manner than it is the case with our people. Besides, buddhism is a philosophy. Not thinking twice, stupid people voted the current rulers again – so, the consequence is seen to them today while many who are indeed in need to go out of the country face all difficulties in getting visas to Europe, while thug ministers and their criminal sons irrespective their high criminal records seem to even touring through the Europe. You will find all religious leaders and politicians try to appeal to the lowest common denominator. What makes the difference between European nations and less developed nations is that the lowest common denominator is set so low (as a result of relatively uneducated masses) in lesser developed countries, citizens of such countries are more vulnerable to being taken advantage of by the likes of these corrupt religious leaders and politicians.
As for Buddhism, and even Christianity, you will find their actual original teachers, such as the Buddha, and Jesus, taught the masses to be more independent and mindful, and depend less on so called teachers of religion.
Of course such teachings don’t help the likes of the Pope, or our Buddhist monks, so they claim to be God’s (or the Buddha’s) right hand on earth, and live absolutely contradictory lives to the teachings of their so called teachers. But at least their behavior itself confirms the intelligence of the likes of Jesus/ Buddha etc. They all predicted imposters such as these robe wearing crooks who will establish large religious movements and gather disgusting levels of wealth and power while using their teachings in twisted forms.

Not many readers here know that many an ancestor of this Pope had induced torture and imprisonment to maim and kill millions of human being in the name of Jesus Christ,for over seven hundred years.
It all started like this: Constantine is said to have had this visualization of a cross in the mid day (some say a night dream) when he happened to be on his way home to lay his claim to be the Roman Emperor. Following day, just before the battle against Maxentius at Saxa Rubra, Constantine had his soldiers paint crosses on their shields. He did that to convince the soldiers that God with the cross is with them. Soldiers believed it, butchered the opponents and won the war.
From then on, its killings and killings all the way spread Christianity. Renowned author William Manchester says; “in the fourth century, Emperor Constantine, the first Roman Emperor to become a Christian, had over 3000 Christians executed because their interpretation of the Bible did not agree with his.”
In 1232 something called ‘inquisition’ were first founded during what was known as the Albigensian heresies where Christians killed Christians. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed because their Christianity did not agree with official dogma of Popes.
At the Council of Lérida in 1237, inquisition was formally placed under the authority of the Dominicans and the Franciscans. Perhaps I must mention here that these are the priestly clique that later came to Sri Lanka with the murderous Portuguese to pursue their deadly tactics to our forefathers.
Not stopping at Lérida killings, in 1252, Pope Innocent IV had decreed that all secular rulers must arrest and execute all non-Catholic Christians. It is estimated that at least ten million people could have been murdered throughout Inquisitions.
As and when opportunities cropped up; Protestant rulers and Clergy too installed their own inquisitions. There were very many killings under Protestants heresies too. Among the most well known Protestant version of heresy in the sixteenth century was the killing of a Spanish physician named, Michael Servetus. When Servetus was running for his life from Catholic inquisition exterminators in Spain, he was seized by the henchmen of famous Protestant “Reformer” John Calvin in Switzerland. After the usual torture, John Calvin and his clique finally, burned Servetus to death at the stake in Geneva, Switzerland.
Do you know even today, there are Calvin churches in Sri Lanka with the same name? Yet, some commentates in this blog who belong to that church sarcastically accuse Sinhala Buddhists as war criminals.

I have never written a word of praise to Mervin or his kind of goons. I would urge people not to vote for them. In a another thread in this blog I replied to gamini that ‘MR may not be the epitome of honesty.’ Read it if you can. it is in that CJ’s husband related thread.
I also wrote there why in my opinion MR and his predecessors were reluctant to act against them. Fault is at those who vote for them. But I showed with proof why my voting for MR at the last Presidential election is the right decision.
I need not prove that Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger or current Pope had been an enthusiastic ‘Hitler youth’ in his youth, because it is an accepted fact and can be verified with proof through internet. If there are any people like you who deny Pope had been a ‘Hitler youth’ it is you who has to show where and what was he doing during 1940-45.
Likewise, what I wrote about Popes predecessors is also true. I am no historian, but I always extract facts for my comments and writing from scholarly sources. You can verify it through internet as well.

I think it more likely it was arranged by the SL Embassy in Rome which will have been in no position to not do their masters’ bidding.
