Mahanayaka Thera of the Malwatte Chapter, Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera has refused to see President Maithripala Sirisena this morning when the latter sought an appointment with the prominent Buddhist monk to discuss the current political situation, Colombo Telegraph learns.
The Mahanayaka Thera had said he did not want to have any meeting with Sirisena who unabashedly violated the constitution by dissolving parliament breaching the provisions of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution which he architected himself.
When the reports of Mahanayake Thera’s refusal to meet Sirisena surfaced, the President’s Media Division had strictly instructed provincial journalists in Kandy to refrain from reporting it. As a result, none of the mainstream media institutions in the country received the story this evening.
When contacted by several news reporters in Colombo, the PMD, in a desperate bid to cover-up the humiliating rejection, had said Sirisena did not visit the Malwatte temple and only visited the four Dewalayas in Kandy.
However, after much persuasion, the Mahanayaka thera of the Malwatte chapter had agreed to meet Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, the General Secretary of the UPFA and an ally of Sirisena.

It could well be true considering the ven. Thibotuwawes polical leanings. He is dictated to by none other than Karu Jayasoorya the former speaker who tried to usurp the parliament an act to which no constitutionality or ethics anything else was a consideration.
Ven. Thibbotowaw also refused to meet MR for some time and later must have realized his folly and recently met MR.
This Thero is easily misled and Kuru is an expert in that.

President made his third speech after creating political ciaos. I hope this would be his third and last speech. before he is impeached and locked up for violating the constitution.
Talking about historical working of the Parliament he has forgotten that he violated the “uthum sthanaya” workings by selecting a rogue Prime Minister. He dissolved the Parliament the “uthum sthanaya” illegally in contradiction to the constitution.
With regards to the bribes he was talking about, who offered bribe? He himself gave bribe for MPs to join his side. What is he talking about?
Karu Jayasuriya has full authority within the Parliament, as per the constitution it clearly states that when the President is in Parliament, the President will be given equal status of a MP, nothing more nothing less. So how dare he questions the actions of the Speaker who is the head of the “uthum sthanaya”? Whose fault is appointing Ranil as PM when he became the President? He himself appointed Ranil. Since no one challenged Ranil in the Parliament after that it was clear that Ranil had majority in the Parliament. This time when he sacked Ranil, Ranil’s party got majority and he proved his majority once again during the “no confidence motion”. At this time as well depending on when the President had “Appa” he jumped from one side to another, he orchestrated the no confidence and he failed miserably. At that point itself it was beyond doubt that President did not have the confidence of the Parliament as he lost the no confidence motion against PM.
