Do not despair.Sri Lanka needs a people who have guts to stand up for what is right peacefully and steadfastly. Unfortunately, the land is not blessed with such people yet. The Tamils demonstrated they were a gutless people in the face of the VP and other militants phenomenon and lived to reap a bitter harvest. The Sinhalese have shown themselves to be a gutless people from the dawn of independence and are reaping the harvest now. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how we view it, all Sri Lankans are paying the price now. Mr. Sumanthiran spoke for the whole nation in parliament , the other day. I will yet malign the TNA on the manner in which they have dealt with the post-war Tamil issues.It is the TNA that is moving to the national stage, as I had always wanted it to. It is now talking of problems confronting the whole nation, of which the Tamils are part. It was bad governance that seeded the Tamil problem and it is bad governance that has resulted in the CJ impeachment. Sumanthiran did right and I am proud of what he did and his performance ion parliament. I point out what I think is wrong, as readily as I would welcome what I think is right.
I have never been in any ship and hence there is no need for me to jump. Further, I will yet praise Gotabhaya Rajapakse for the many good things he has done and is doing. Theresults are very visible. However, Gotabhaya is not responsible for planning the development projects in the north and east, although the soldiers have helped when needed.

In a way, I am very happy that Mohan Peiris is the New CJ replacing Her Ladyship Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake for reasons given below. I have been a convicted criminal and also an IRC. I have a number of other criminal cases against me and She is the one to preside on those cases. I am sure and I will be shitting in my pants when I have to appear before her as she will definitely give me death penalty for she gives her verdicts according to the constitution and to her conscience but not in favour and no sympathy at all towards human beings who have committed crimes. On the other hand, Mohan Peiris can be easily bribed and get all my previous cases too quashed saying that there are no proofs against me. This I could do easily through the Presidential Secretariat by supporting the Chinthanaya as there are two options for any Sri Lankan criminal to get all the charges removed. 1) Do any crime and join Chinthanaya 2) Join Chinthanaya and do any crime. But if you are not, then “putho” death penalty is guaranteed or extra judicial death warrant is guaranteed.

As you adequately explained – all those who are criminals but do have close contacts with president and the family – as it is the case with BRITISH tourist was murdered but the killer was among the close friends of presidents sons – will easily be free even if they would go on with their criminal deeds.

You did not mention that your indictments could be postponed for months & years by deliberate inaction by the attorney general and minor judciary, by becoming an ardent political supporter of the ruling party.

We have two CJs now.
1. A legitimate CJ and
2. An illegitimate CJ
However, there is only one position of CJ . Would occupying the chair of the CJ through force lend any respect to the position or dignity to the illegitimate CJ?. Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake will be the only CJ in hearts of those who know to differentiate between what is wrong and what is right. The newly appointed CJ will always be the imposter.
This is testing time for the legal fraternity. It is how they react that will decide the democratic evolution of the country. There are larger issues at stake here than the position of CJ. I hope the legal fraternity has guts and the commitment to principles, to continue its struggle with greater vigour in the interest of this country. It is sad that the BASL has already started wagging its tail. It was all bark, but no bite, apparently for this organisation.
Is the Sri Lankan judiciary going to be developed on the LTTE model, where VP was the President, Commander -in-Chief of the armed forces, the Parliament, the CJ and the executioner? I am beginning to think VP has left his indelible foot print on Sri Lanka. It is VP’s way that is becoming MR’s way!

The world has condemned this travesty of justice and sham of a democracy. The lawyers who stand up for justice and corruption, have to be supported by other professionals and the rest of the country. They know first hand how the Rajapaksa’s have deliberately plotted and removed the Chief Justice who was in their path to further enhance their positions unchallenged, and take control of this country. The president has to be congratulated for his skills. He hugged Sarath Silva at a funeral and made him an ally overnight. He visited Wijedasa Rajapakse’ home soon after the shooting incident and this may have melted WR’s resolve. If CJ, Shirani Bandaranayake had accepted the president’s invitation and hospitality, she may have let the president have his way in matters connected to the Superior Courts. If She had done so, she would be the one and only CJ now. The lady is a bloody fool. She did not learn the lessons needed to be successful and secure in her sinecure, in this blessed land!

He also was convinced that MR would end the war on his terms, after he met MR two years previously. He also was convinced that MR would deliver the Tamils from the LTTE blight and give them the chance to recover. MR has delivered on what I expected. My thanks are due to him. Who cares for rules and regulations in the personal fiefdom?
And so the Rajapakses ride to the next storm – so long as the focus of the yakkos is kept away from the real issues – the unbearable CoL, health, education, transport, security and what not. The majority can also be fooled the Tiger is not dead and is getting ready to pounce –
a few grams of explosives, a gun or two introduced to the house of a Tamil MP – exaggerated by the Sinhala press and the extremists lead by the JHU will do the trick.

I am unable to understand how they changed or that they did not change at all but we failed to see their real colours. I am begining to accept that finally the money talks not any other bull shits like principles, policy etc.
I can understand the behaviors of Rajapakses but not the support given persons like GL and Mohan Pieris, Asoka de silva etc.
