T. Saravanarajah, District Judge and Magistrate of Mullaithivu, has sent in his resignation to the Judicial Service Commission. The reason is the physical threats he received for carrying out his judicial duties.
Recall that he issued stern judgements against the temples being obstructed at Kurunthoor (Kurundi) and subsequently issued a statement that judicial orders are being ignored. Sarath Weerasekera made a hot speech in parliament threatening him. It was unprecedented for a judge to be threatened under cover of parliamentary privilege.
After that and in addition to Sarath Weerasekera’s assault on the judiciary, the good judge received physical threats. When these were detailed on Facebook, persons claiming to be from the military and the CID forced those messages to be removed.
“When a judge with his police escort is not safe in this country, how safe are ordinary people?” asked a journalist in Jaffna who meekly deleted his pages from Facebook after being ordered to do so by our “security forces.”. “How can President Ranil Wickremesignhe have thugs in his cabinet?” was the common refrain among many Tamils. If this is a democracy with a vibrant press, why has the press not covered this major earth-quaking incident 5 days after it occurred? Is the IMF even looking at governance issues in giving loans

The Current Injustice Minister is (in)famously known as Deal Dasa . This man was forced to resign by his own party members during Yahapalanaya Aanduwa. A couple of times he has switched political party allegiance. He is refusing to receive any letter from the Judge. He was, interestingly, appearing throwing mud on the judge by saying he was meeting foreign Diplomats. Deal Dasa says Judge sold his car in Colombo. But the judge is saying the CID constantly follows and spies on his private movements. If these actions of the judge are prohibited or prevented in Langkang, it is not clear why he had not taken any action on those. Otherwise, he is saying that now is only to interpret the judge’s complaint as mudslinging on Peethal Appe Aanduwa, but not prepared to carry out an honest investigation. He said that five cases are pending against the Judge, but the Judge said there are three cases. It is not sure if any of his verdicts that were appealed are included in that count, because an appeal does not name a defendant. Deal’s attitude on giving out the numbers suggests that he has already given verdict on the Judge as “Guilty 5 Times.”

The end of that story was IMF said, “The initial action shows some improvements, but by policy Appe Aanduwa did not ensure the continuity of the developments.” It sounds like the IMF team doubts the commitment of Appe Aanduwa for their deal.
In 2021 IMF told to Appe Aanduwa to reorganize the banks, because it was People’s Bank which spearheaded the Foreign Exchange crisis and bankrupted the country by opportunistically refusing to pay for Chinese Hunu. But with the name of DDR, Aanduwa broke the bank of EPF contributors. So, in their report, IMF has pointed out again that the banks are in a weak situation. They indicated a shortage in income, while Aanduwa’s defense budget is still in the $400B era. With this kind mismatched income and expense, Aanduwa will not properly meet the below poverty level populations’ social payments. When there is a money shortage to spend and it hurts the economy, the best place for taxing is high income groups, because their income usually goes not spent immediately. Redistributing it to the poor can create a demand for local products like food and cloth. IMF is clearly saying the income shortage is going to affect the poor; fine tuning the tax system can ease the problem. That can be easily understood by any nincompoop. No use here the Evils cover up, foxy talks.

The supermarket’s management hacked her and thrashed her, without mercy. Noticing the out of hand situation, the mother pulled off her upper garments, and temporarily solved all the problems. Now it is a court case. Supermarket wants to solve it by paying the woman out of record. But the police are threatening her to accept that deal instead of going to court. Probably, police think if she goes to court, then only the lawyer will share with the woman on the catch; they would be left out. This is their classic way the people in Langkang solve their problems. This is the justice system in Langkang.” Last year a group of youths and activists wanted to have these Meethotamulla garbage dumps cleaned, but the Sinhala Buddhist Intellectuals promoted their Guardian Angel, the Evil and have preserved their system of impunity, instead a Systemic Change. Evil & Deal are handling the DJ’s Kurunthoor verdict objections the same way they did on the IMF report, i.e., by stacking lies over lies, turning the table on the person who came to help, projecting him as the enemy who creates the problems. Unless the peaceful Protest returns and makes the systemic change needed, IMF or external governments’ pressure cannot make any difference on the country’s economy or people’s peaceful life. But, the hole created by failing on doing that, can cause a massive pogrom & economic destruction during the next election, because the stronger community is going to blame the weaker one as the reason for all of their problems. In addition to the CJ, the Minister of Justice and the Minister in charge of Law and Order would have taken steps to arrest Sarath Weerasekera. This did not happen. If such a thing happens to a Judge, imagine what must be happening to an ordinary civilian. Unfortunately, all Tiran and the IGP had to say is there was no complaint lodged. Doesn’t the Secret Service watch over Judges, did they not notice or know about this? Should the Judge himself order the arrest of Sarath Weerasekera and then resign?
In my opinion, the time is ripe to appoint Sri Lankans who are living abroad and have the qualifications and experience in the respective fields as IGP, Chief Justice, and the Attorney General.
