Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and two of his Directors were granted bail today by the Colombo Magistrate Court over money laundering charges.

The three including, Sudarsha Ganewatta and Nithya Senanaya Samaranayaka were arrested last week over charges of securing money illegally to purchase shares from HelloCorp. Ganewatta and Samaranayaka are directors of both N R Consultants and Gowers Corporation which is owned by Rajapaksa.

Arrest warrants have also been issued on two more directors of N R Consultants and Gowers Corporation, Sujani Bogollagama, and Ornella Iresha Silva on the same charges.

Bogollagama has admitted herself to a paying ward at the National Hospital while Silva is currently overseas, and is believed to be avoiding arrest.

“Amarey, I applaud you continuously reminding us of our ‘Para’ Ancestory.”

The Problem has been that the Paras, the Para-Sinhala, the Para-Tamils and Para-Muslims seem to forget this fact, despite overwhelming evidence.

Bertrand Russel said, “95% of the Solution is Identifying the Problem”.

The Problem has been that the Paras have been denying, they are Paras, just like the alcoholic who claims that he is not an alcoholic.

PS. Still 25% of Americans, 34% of Europeans and more than 50% of the Paras believe that the Sun goes around a stationary Earth, 400 odd years after Copernicus, Galileo and Kepler.

I am fed up with reading this regurgitating “para” argument. Yes all of us are “paras”. but this is present times. Live together peacefully and in6tegrated for f…… sake. Either be real or give the country back to the giant reptiles or if not to the amoebas to end this argument.

No different from the never ending cycle of birth and death is the recurring feature of remand and bail. In a land, home to the thought of impermanence, this alone is permanent.

Like the sun rises – when these buggers are being arrested, we already knew their short holiday in the remand will end up with a bailing out.

But the day these men will be sent to longer jail sessions when ?

I told this comedy will continue.

An Ace rogue son of a Tsunami Swindler, again released on bail after stealing and robbing public money to the tune of Millions.

What bloody justice are we talking of ? How is it possible ? Wither SL judiciary.

      Ansar,

The biggest problem is the Judiciary itself.

One of the most corrupt and dysfunctional institutions in the country.

      Cheers!

This Is a charade, they want us to believe that they are rooting out corruption and this Buddhist holly land is being freed of these evil creatures of ill repute. I was picked up and held for longer than that for nothing. This is a farce,

This is very funny. The arresting and bailing; from prison to Merchant Ward and other things happening has become a Big Joke. Those arrested, who are hale and hearty and sometimes with Macho-personality directly go to the Merchant Ward. It looks, Lady Justicia is not only covering her eyes but, actually short of sight! The law enforcement authorities, whether it is CID, FCID, Police or Presidential Commission of Inquiry should present to Court such possibilities and seek a preventive order in that regard. Instead, they should not take the people for a ride!

Stop this joke and use Gota methods to make Namal and his cohorts disappear for ever or send them to somewhere underground never to be exhumed.

The terms of release on bail are not clear.
Bail is usually to prevent escape from jurisdiction of court, by even going abroad – which is prevented by confiscation of passports, or by a large monetary amount as bail, with sureties.

He is fast becoming like his father who twists his words to deflect starting accusations. The Rajapakse family is a bunch of con artists.

You mean the father who sent LTTE packing and Prbhakaran to hell?

If police had irrefutable evidence, this joke of arresting and then bailing out would not have happened. Public is losing trust on the whole process. Blaming judiciary for incompetence of police is not right.

Oh.. these arrests are just to distract people from the inefficiencies of the government. . In this case they were anticipating the meagre crowd that attended the yahapalanaya rally in Matara! :)).. so poor that it was not even a highlight on Rupavahini and IT news!!!

Only in Sri Lanka rogues who come out of jail are given rousing welcome as though they are some sort of heroes. Mahinda Rajapaksa has not brought up his boys as good citizens of the country. Like father the boys were also enjoying a highly volatile life. In the good old days Namal Rajapaksa was the unofficial MP for Kilinochchi giving orders to GA, Police and the army.
