President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s eldest son Namal Rajapaksa MP is yet to answer questions posed by some Twitter users regarding his youngest brother’s attack on a Rugby referee last week.
On 8 May, Namal Rajapaksa said his younger brother’s attack of a Rugby referee ‘was a misunderstanding’. The response came as a reply to a Tweet by another Twitter user called Zaman Alfeoz.
Zaman asked “@RajapaksaNamal, did your younger brother Rohitha Rajapaksa attack the refree at 7 a side game… is it true?”
On 09 May, Reuters correspondent Ranga Sirilal asked Namal Rakapaksa via Twitter, “u mean that ur younger brother attacked the refree due to a misunderstanding?” (sic)
Namal Rajapaksa replied “the entire incident was a misunderstanding.”
Another Twitter user asked him; “can you clarify what exactly happened? because we don’t want false accusations of your brothers,” (sic)
On 9 May, Ranga Sirilal again asked; “I’m sorry what was the misunderstanding? What exactly happened? Who attacked the referee? Who initiated the it?” (sic)
There has been no response to the rest of the tweets by Namal Rajapaksa, UPFA MP for Hambantota.
Presidential offspring Rohitha Rajapaksa assaulted Rugby referee Dimitri Gunasekera on May 05th at the Havelocks Ground in Colombo after the Navy lost a qualifying match.

I am afraid all elite schools admit kids of thugs and criminals. And produce a few on their own. St. Thomas’s is no excception.
Both Malaka Silva and Rehan Wijeratne, recently infamous, went to St. Thomas’s.
Kudu Duminda was at St. Peter’s, I think.
Trinity produced Lohan Ratwatte. Rugby player and alleged multiple murderer.
Royal College has a long list of not so distinguished old scholars as well.
All this noise about elite schools is nothing, but “Hype”.
I applaude average kids of SL. Who walk to their local school. Yet, beacome exemplary citizens. Despite minimum facilities. Sri Lanka has millions of such children.
That is where the promise of our country is. Invest in them.

An elite school is no gurantee any kid will be a good citizen.
Ananda looks at itself as the last bastion of Sinhala Buddhist education in SL. With good reason. Remains to be seen where they will end up. Hope it will not be in the pathetic BBS track.
MR ended up at Thurston after getting suspended. From Both Richmond and Nalanda, I think. All 3 schools have now joined the elite league of schools in SL.
It is the education that matters. Not the School you went to.
Do not let the elite school’s “fake” label interfere with your child’s education.

These days we have to put up with not only these rotten politicians but even their corrupted offspring. This seems to be a clutural attitude coming from the times of the ancient kings where the entire royal family automatically qualified for the powers and adulation of the masses. We observe such hero worship even in the US where the Obama family is subjected to an overdose of praise and adulation.
However the similiarity with our first family ends their. Ours are even more privileged than Obama. They own and operate a TV channel with sole rights to broadcast all major sporting events using state tv equipment. Under the brand name of Carlton, the organise Rugby league with generous donations extracted from leading Corporates who are in return given the thumbs up for commercial deals. They organise night races and are able to even obtain duty concessions for import of racing cars for such events. They are said to be even involved in the property market and owners of prime lands in Colombo. Not bad for people who emerged from the backwoods of Beliatta.
